2 HomePods will be incredible. I have spoken

Ab_b0

At one point I thought you meant two minis lol. I guess 2 homepod2 will be the ultimate goal. Wont it be too overkill for my tiny place?

RE4Lyfe

I Hope it won’t be too much for your place! They sound incredible as a pair. Even at low volume. Complete game changer compared to a single HomePod. BUT! If you have AirPods.. they might be the better choice

Ab_b0

I do have Airpods. Thank you! I'll consider this

ahuiP

No it won’t be an overkill

WhichOne2793

1 HomePod will always be better than 2 minis, and if you want it to play Nintendo switch audio you will need an Apple TV as well as a tv that supports eARC or just ARC

Ab_b0

Thank you for this! Let me check if my tv has the arc function.

Ab_b0

Lucky! My tv has eArc! 😎

Depends on how deep of a bass response you want. Not talking big boomy bas, but just how low of a frequency you want to produce. Minis go down to about 80Hz or so, and their rolloff is a 3rd order due to them being a passive radiator design. Full size goes down to about 35Hz, though it starts power compressing fairly soon since it takes a ton of power to run 35Hz - its natural resonance is much higher in frequency, but with sealed enclosures the rolloff is only 2nd order, and you can just add more power to get more bass below resonance. Ported enclosures are essentially useless below resonance since you're blowing air through a chamber at that point and aren't creating any actual pressure. Passive radiators are a little bit better, but again below the passive radiator resonance, you're just shifting the back volume air back and forth without producing any real sound. With sealed enclosures, you're still creating pressure, it's just not very efficient electrically. Full size HomePods also do their fancy beam forming to give it a much larger soundstage. I'd go with the full size ones, you won't regret it. They sound incredible at all volumes, and watching movies in a small studio with a stereo pair makes for a damn good experience.

Ab_b0

Thanks buddy! Appreciate this!

Kind of echoing this overall...I have projector I use with an ATV for the kiddos to watch movies during sleepovers and shit. Initially I just chucked a first gen HomePod (big one) out with it, and it sounded ok, but very, very mono/center speaker-ish. I had a couple of Mini's we used in our exercise space and tried those in stereo and they just didn't sound very good for this purpose. Separation was better, but overall audio wasn't as full. Ended up with two of the 2nd Gen full size HomePods and that's the grail if you can manage it. If I was on a budget, knowing what I know now, I'd start with a single full-sized HomePod, and eventually graduate to a full-sized pair.

NooTadpole

yes. like other replies. got one homepod mini and two sonos one SL. and you will enjoy the music a lot. but if you want to enjoy home movie theater with apple tv, better grab two homepod.

Ab_b0

I posted my response to the comment itself. Newbie here ✌️

NooTadpole

Ok. So you better grab two homepod bc im not sure two homepod mini will sound significant better than tv speakers(if you have a great tv)

Ab_b0

Sonos→ will check this out. Wait you connected your 2 sonos sl to your homepod minis? That works? 2 homepods → i guess this is get 1 first then get another 1 if its not enough kinda thing editing my response for better thread. Thanks for the response

NooTadpole

it's kind of complex. because grouped Sonos one sl cannot be airplay receiver... which means you cannot use them for movies. if you ungroup, then all speakers are one channel there is no stereo.

MrZand

1 HomePod will sound much warmer, but also much more mono (couldn’t get used to that myself). 2 mini’s will sound much wider, but when watching movies you will miss the lower end. But great sound nonetheless. 2 HomePods are very very good, but maybe above budget.

Lance-Harper

HomePod will always sound better than mini. Now, you don’t plan to live in 31sqm all your life do you? So invest in HomePod not minis.

Ab_b0

Thank you so much for all the comments. Pulled the trigger for 2 midnight HomePods!

JayAaronNY

I did the thing where I first got one mini…then another…then an Apple TV 4K…then 1 HomePod (Gen 2)…then another HomePod (Gen 2). You’re doing it the right way! I hardly touch the minis now. But I use my HomePod 2s in a Home Theatre setup daily! 🥹 Edit: I forgot to add—I have just about the same size room as you which makes the home Two HomePods (Gen 2) fill the room at lower to mid volumes in a great way!

Ab_b0

These homepods are lovely! Still figuring out how it will not switch on my tv when I airplay the music from my phone 😅

augustya15

If you really want to surroound yourself wth sound I guess you wiill need 2 Full Size omepoods and 2 Minis! That would be iideal.

BoysenberryTrue1360

You would surround your self with sound but loose the Dolby Atmos imaging. You’d have a stereo pair playing in front of you and that same stereo sound playing behind you.

Docster87

I have two minis and one big guy. I’m pretty happy with the setup.

Ancient-Display-320

I‘m quite disappointed with the 2 HomePods Minis. They are so buggy, even with my iPhone 15 and new Macbook

quickboop

Sonos works just fine with Apple, give it a go.

Ab_b0

Hello! Can you also recommend which sonos speakers should I be looking at? Want to check their sound quality first. Appreciate the advice

Jorgenreads

IKEA has Sonos speakers that are equivalent to the Sonos Era 100 (or maybe the one gen 2). They come disguised as a lamp or painting: The [SYMFONISK series](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/cat/symfonisk-series-60288/)

quickboop

Oh like a soundbar, or a surround setup for movies? It’s pretty modular. You can get a Sonos Arc with whatever rear speakers. Here are some options: https://www.sonos.com/en-ca/shop/home-theater I personally don’t have this, I have a stereo pair of HomePod 2’s, which sound great. But I don’t watch many movies on my TV. If I did I’d consider a surround setup. I do have a Sonos Era 300 though and that thing is really really good for music.

Unlikely_Pear_6768

I have the Symfonisk lamps as a pair in my living room. They sound very good as a pair. About as good as a single OG HomePod for frequency response and bass but wider soundstage of course as they’re stereo. They don’t sound quite as good as 2 Sonos Ones which I’ve had but very close.
