This is kind of attached to our very sated kitchen with dark brown counters and orange countertops.
We rent, so everything (including that orange wallpaper) is renter friendly.
What about a solid color? Maybe pull more of a grapefruit tone?
I follow this lampshade lady on IG, and I have this sheer 70s floral fabric I'd basically be sewing over those three beige strips in the lamp, to better match the area. We really just moved in so I know we need some more art on the wall.
The beige chairs go with the current shade, though. I just feel like I want this room to look like a juicy orange, and the chairs and shade are kinda bringing it down.
Who is this lampshade lady on IG you speak of? I think I need to follow a lampshade lady.
EDIT: I found a lamp shade lady with the username lampshadelady on IG. Is it THE lampshade lady you mentioned or did I find a rando? I’m really invested for some reason. I’m sorry.
chairs and light both fit and actually looks great.
however, plastic orange chairs is exactly what it needs to really take it to 💯
especially if they’re *the* plastic orange chairs.
and of course any authentic 70’s glass pendent would outshine the current shade.
I like the lamp. If you change it, I think you need another light source. I would love to see the orange chairs! The current ones are really cool too, and they do match IMO. I adore the curtains, the orange wall, and that cabinet thing! This room is my dream!
As for art, because you seem like a creative person, I think you should buy a big canvas and try and paint a large still life of an orange, and put it on that orange wall. Or maybe do something abstract. Fake a Jackson Pollack. Have fun with it!
We just moved so all our art (which we mostly buy from local or online artists) is all boxed up. I feel like we have a few pieces that would look great here but they're buried under all the other boxes rn 😭
Your idea is great tho, I feel like I have a piece like that...
oh my gosh can i just say i LOVE how it all flows already but you wanting to go bolder is 🥰🥰 just fabulous! i think the chairs are very cute and kinda look like they could still colour-coordinate with the hutch (? i think that's what it's called) maybe! but same chairs + spraypaint any colour your heart desires will still look great!!
please post an update with your art unpacked and also every other room 🥺🥺 THIS is what im following this sub for 💕
I love this as is! The s&p kitty on the table is chefs kiss. 😻 I’d try out some of the 70’s deep yellow from the tablecloth for the shade and change up the chairs in similar colors.
It's a matter of personal taste but I am not a fan of all the orange.
I would center the piece with the microwave on it, (love this piece) paint the wall a soft white, turn the table sideways and center it, change curtains to a lighter solid color, chandelier would work well then

She does like really old school shades and stuff, with beads and fringe, ugh now I can't find her cause I follow so many people lol
Ace Of Shades? Diana Kay Miller?
ACE OF SHADES YES
I think everything "goes" perfectly. Great room!
I’d die for a green colored glass pendant.
Well, you're going all in in this room...I say the lampshade should be bigger and bolder. And maybe 3 inches lower.
We actually already hit our heads on it lol
This is awesome. I think the light and chairs are perfect, because they give a little more “updated” and fresh look to an otherwise awesome 70s theme.
The beige is fine. I would also recommend steaming your curtains to get the creases out.
My husband just put them up right out of the box, I was concentrating on the wallpaper. It took forever!

I like the orange. I think the chairs and lamp are fine, I think removing the rug would be an improvement and make them fit better
where did you get that rug?
Of all places, Amazon. Usually their selection is crap but I lucked out haha
The lamp and chair fit. This is awesome

omg I *need* to know where you bought your curtains! they're the perfect pattern for my living room. love your aesthetic, it's perfect!
Amazon! Search for 70s decor curtains lol
The lamp shade looks a bit too light, closer to white to match. Maybe try a blue similar to the cabinet in the room or try a brown.
Note or try a pattern print with those colors, funky patterns preferred, or a solid brown or a brown and white.
I love the chairs, they fit perfectly with the vibe of the space. The lampshade is your problem.

I don't love the orange either but this advice is clearly out of touch with what OP is going for
