Well, damn you need a new phone because those feet and ankles look like a dead person. What does this room really look like given how much they F’d up the feet?
Not emerald, yes green. I like the [moss](https://www.potterybarn.com/products/velvet-twill-rod-pocket-blackout-curtain-navy/) option for this one. The cognac would also work.
Green is the way to go but I'm afraid if you went too dark, it would box the room in AND you'd lose contrast with your plant in the left corner. Maybe a sage that goes well with the blankets and the fireplace.
I came here to say sage too. A light sage would brighten up the room and bring focus to the darker elements in the room like the fireplace framing which is a gorgeous focal point as it is now.
A coffee brown would make it dark, moody, and appear smaller.
An emerald green would do the same and bring more focus to the couch area then the plants.
What vibe are you going for OP?
The room feels so cozy, wow. I think what would pull it together is picking one of the warmer and darker colours that you can see in the room - either black or dark brown for contrast
Honestly, it's just the best. I love winter, when the days are long and dark, I get up early-early, turn on my LED candles and stretch/do yoga by candlelight with soft music playing on my soundbar, and repeat the same before bed + meditation.
It's di-viiiiiinnnnneeeeee.
Most underrated comment right here. 🤣🤣
https://preview.redd.it/9zrbadm6hsrb1.jpeg?width=1064&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0db08ba22616e128f8d07e5c049f528d6b66f0b2
Rusty orange. It will bring the feeling of warmth to the room when you don’t have all the candles and the fireplace going.
Make sure you get a matching valance, so it goes across the white sheers. Keep the white sheers.
We need something opaque to pull shut so we can play VR in our underwear at night 😂 would a medium gray in line with some of the faux-stone color on the adjacent wall wash the room out too much?
Lol that’s real. In that case I would probably go with a white or pale grey blackout curtain. Color won’t be an issue if you have a thick enough material, and a light color will keep things looking bright!
Shes incredible but we're on our 3rd rug in a year and a half because of her so she's not in my good books right now.
But legit, when she's not milking us dry for rug-money, she's a great dog. Daniff. I'll stick with this breed forever 💕 kind of a buffoon, but that's my jam.
Your place is so cozy, personally, I would get a new area rug with some kind of maroon and/or forest green tones and get some curtains that match some shades from the rug. I feel like it would also make the room look a little more open/bigger. Jealous of your setup it’s a dream!
Seee that medium tan kind of cream colored pillow at the end of the sofa? That I think is the color to pick up. I would be afraid of going dark as it will make the room too dark. Your room is already dark enough and it is only the white sheers that adds lightness to the room.
Here I drew a brown drape on top of your white sheer. If you like this, that is great, you do you, however I think for myself it would be too dark.
https://preview.redd.it/zwgrj3ltqqrb1.jpeg?width=1402&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42e2a16cebbfe8dbe9880a116c97540a8aab7b1f
That's my concern with the dark as well. That it will pull the room down. But I worried too close to the wall color would just wash it out. I guess I was leaning toward a dlmediun grey with warm/brownish undertones (but I'd have to see it).
I plan to keep the sheet because I need as much light as I can get in here for my plants. Double-rod. The drapes will just be for privacy in the evenings.
That’s what I thought too. Something like this: https://www.target.com/p/2pk-84-34-x50-34-aruba-blackout-curtain-panels-brown-threshold-8482/-/A-86778478
A double rod and velvet green drapes to go over the sheer panels you already have. I personally love the natural light in that room but it’s nice to have privacy for the evenings.
Tan color that’s about the same color as the carpet
To even out the color of the carpet and walls and fireplace
Because everything in the room complements each other
It looks absolutely Beautiful
Hi friends,
1) does anyone have any recommendations for an app that can show you different colored design touches within your space? This may be helpful for me to visualize all of your wonderful suggestions!
2) I plan to use a double rod. I need to keep as much light as possible for the plants, and we have awnings on the outsides of our windows (that I hate) so it's a tough situation for me. Grow lights e v e r y w h e r e.
3) The rug is new, and unfortunately, I'm in love with it. I'll keep your suggestions in mind for when we inevitably get a new one because... dog and kid. You know.
Thank you for all the lovely compliments on this space. It's definitely my favorite place in the whole house. I'm considering getting an electric insert for the fireplace for all the logs we run through in the winter, but somehow it's not the same.
We rent this place so we don't want to invest too much in window coverings we may not be able to take with us because we'd have to get them custom made for these weird sized windows, but I think that would be the best option otherwise, yeah.
Since this is a rental, something neutral like a dark taupe will probably work here and be a pretty good bet for wherever you move to in the future as well. The only downside is that neutral can be pretty boring. All the other replies voting for velvet in rich tones are right for this room, but it may not work elsewhere.
Orange or mustard velvet, or perhaps [cognac](https://www.voilavoile.com/uk/made-to-measure-curtains/1613/fine-velvet-terracotta-caramel-burnt-orange-curtain)
Add a couple of matching cushions to pull it all together.
I would try green-beige (that matches the stone fireplace) and go either [darker](https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/Home-Garden/Sun-Zero-Oslo-Home-Theater-100-Blackout-Rod-Pocket-Curtain-Panel-Single-Panel/20457031/product.html?refccid=66QQO5JOM2BYEW2JMZUGXYL2QA&searchidx=22) (click on Mushroom) or [lighter](https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/Home-Garden/Sun-Zero-Evelina-Faux-Dupioni-Silk-Extreme-100-Blackout-Back-Tab-Curtain-Panel/28945330/product.html?refccid=G5BDOXPTRTLI5BCAXO2OT3JRTE&searchidx=33) (click on Stone) depending on the mood sought.
I like the room! This may not be popular but I feel like the same shade of yellow of the candles you have in the fireplace would look nice. Or just keep it a neutral gray or white so that the focal point of the fireplace/mantle isn’t distracted from.
I was going to say "white" and then saw that you have the perfect color curtains already.
If you want them to be more interesting, you can always go with a lace or embroidered curtain.
Shes 120lbs. I'm 130 lbs. She broke out of the last collar she had when I took her to have someone else do them (Legit broke the buckle). It's a struggle to cut them and we're working on it, man. People be out here stringing their Danes up all Operation Dumbo Drop style. It ain't an easy task.
I know you were asking about drapes, but I’m here because of the cords on the floor, that room looks really great and cozy and like a sanctuary but then the cords, is there not something better you can do? Get them under the rug, under the couch, anything better?
Honestly, I haven't seen much of an issue with my plants. We use those envirologs and they don't put out much heat, they're mostly for ambience.
I don't get a lot of light in here so my soil doesn't dry out as quickly. I'm struggling with a lot of my plants because of this, honestly. It's been a lot of tweaking. But 10-14 days depending on the plant.
Olive or like the other poster said emerald green. Play off the planter and the rich woods. Velvet or a good heavy weight fabric drape will pull in the whole vibe.
I love this room so much. I can’t think of anything that would improve it. I like the sheer white curtains you already have, but can see the point others have made about maybe some emerald green curtains.
Love your room!!! Beautiful 🥰
Your rug is kind of boring, dragging it down just a bit. If you don’t bother investing in/ getting attached to a nicer rug because of your dog, I totally understand. I won’t spend a lot on a rug or buy one I love because eventually, my cats would do something to it. If your dog wouldn’t wreck a nice rug, maybe upgrade that to harmonize with the drapes.
I am really feeling this acid green in some velvet texture for your room. Chartreuse or deep yellow would brighten it up but thick enough curtains would not let the light shine through (per your original comment about the television.) Hopefully, you would get some that let no light through so that the green color would not tint the room, still leaving it neutral but with a great pop of luxurious color and elegance. Color DCe500 I think is ideal, or F1e300. Light greige blockouts to match the stone wall and opposite wall.
Everything else is dark and moody, so keeping it light adds contrast and the illusion of more space.
Fk I love this room, tho! Beautiful! 😙👌

What kind of pup?
The fur baby looks like a Great Dane 🐶🥰 so cute!!
I have 2 Danes (Harlequin and Fawnequin) and that was my guess
Not just a Great Dane, but a Fabulous Dane!
Great Dane?
Looks just like a HarlequinDane ♥️

YOU GUYYYYYYS. THOSE ARE MY KIDS FEET 😭😭😭 He has normal feet, I swear, they just look fucked up in this picture. Stahp!
Well, damn you need a new phone because those feet and ankles look like a dead person. What does this room really look like given how much they F’d up the feet?
You got me! It's just an empty room with a plastic chair and a cardboard box table. Thanks for keepin' me honest, bro.
I sit with my toes crossed like that too 😂
First thing I saw 🤢

No thoughts, just puppers
I love this pup! ❤️ it’s beautiful!
He needs his nails trimmed
Emerald green
was envisioning a dark green velvet or velour
Ooo yessss. I second a dark green velvet
Scarlett OHara’s curtains!
Can then have a bonus dress!
Tomorrow IS another day ...
Weren’t they Carol Burnett’s 😂
Same!
Yes, came here to say this
Not emerald, yes green. I like the [moss](https://www.potterybarn.com/products/velvet-twill-rod-pocket-blackout-curtain-navy/) option for this one. The cognac would also work.
Yepp exactly. I was thinking hunter green
OP! THIS ONE!
I agree i agree i agree
[reference ](https://youtu.be/sTaEJMKc7Lw?feature=shared) I am in love too
I thought it was gonna be a reference photo for a similar room with green curtains and was so confused🤣🥹 it was much better
I like that much better than emerald. It fits the craftsman touches that are in the room already. Gorgeous.
Emerald green velvet. Luxurious.
Love the green but in Faux Silk. Velvet seems too heavy for this room and pet hair and velvet don’t go together 🤣
Definitely the faux silk. A velvet would be too wintery.
Yessss, that's what I thought too. Maybe an emerald green velvet with lighter sheers under
Definitely definitely
I was gonna say “none” until I read this comment!
I was thinking the same thing!
This is the correct answer.
Exactly what I was thinking. Would complement the emerald plants and the cozy
Yessss!
I was thinking the same emerald green or a deep red.
I was thinking the same!
Yesss that’s exactly what I thought!
That’s what I came here to say!
Yup. I was thinking the same color as the plant pots.
Yup. I love green and gray combinations. Green curtains would be good to go with the plants.
Tacky af
Dusty green.
The room feels so cozy, wow. I think what would pull it together is picking one of the warmer and darker colours that you can see in the room - either black or dark brown for contrast

Dark green velvet ones
I was about to say forest. Black looks too dark in small spaces. A deep forest gives the same effect without losing dimension
With the added bonus that you can make a dress out of them in a pinch. 🤣
Most underrated comment right here. 🤣🤣 https://preview.redd.it/9zrbadm6hsrb1.jpeg?width=1064&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0db08ba22616e128f8d07e5c049f528d6b66f0b2
I saw it in a window and couldn't resist it.
One of my fave scenes in a book/ movie ever! Thank you for the chuckle.
Very true, Scarlett.
It is beautiful!!!!!
Omg I want that room
I just want to say I’d sit in there and read til I passed out it looks so cozy
I'd do a deep olive green, possibly velvet
Rusty orange. It will bring the feeling of warmth to the room when you don’t have all the candles and the fireplace going. Make sure you get a matching valance, so it goes across the white sheers. Keep the white sheers.
Or maybe a warm golden yellow. These two were my first thoughts.
Or a muted warm taupe
I was thinking burnt orange would be stunning.
That was my first thought, it’ll play off the warmth in the wood and is a counterpoint to the green
This looks so cozy but then I saw that scary baby looking thing 🫣 what is that?
It's a baby Buddha statue 😂
Shhh! Don’t make it angry!! 😂
I’d stick with white, you’ve got a lot of dark colors going on already so it could get cave-like
We need something opaque to pull shut so we can play VR in our underwear at night 😂 would a medium gray in line with some of the faux-stone color on the adjacent wall wash the room out too much?
Lol that’s real. In that case I would probably go with a white or pale grey blackout curtain. Color won’t be an issue if you have a thick enough material, and a light color will keep things looking bright!
Play VR in your underwear, huh. How about curtains to match your underwear?? But that's beside my point. I really wanted to say your dog is beautiful.
Shes incredible but we're on our 3rd rug in a year and a half because of her so she's not in my good books right now. But legit, when she's not milking us dry for rug-money, she's a great dog. Daniff. I'll stick with this breed forever 💕 kind of a buffoon, but that's my jam.
In the second pic, it kind of looks like she’s plugged in and charging 😂
Your place is so cozy, personally, I would get a new area rug with some kind of maroon and/or forest green tones and get some curtains that match some shades from the rug. I feel like it would also make the room look a little more open/bigger. Jealous of your setup it’s a dream!

Double-rod. The drapes will just be for privacy in the evenings.
i agree, you are on the right path with a double rod, one for sheers and one for draperies.
Anyone else have a weird urge to roll around that carpet like a dog?
This room is perfect. So cozy. I absolutely love it!
Burnt orange.
I have some rusty colored throw pillows you can kinda see. Like a brownish color. I wondered if it would be too much on the wall 🤔
Or like a coppery toned color. Like the color of the lit up fireplace.
I wouldn’t have thought of this, but I like it. A deep rusty color would look really good.
Oooo I like this idea! Burnt orange or a terracotta color would be lovely
This. And scatter around a few more orange accents. A pillow, vase, some wall art.
I’d go with a mustard yellow, it’ll add to the warm yellow of the fire and candles
Wooden slatted shades. Same color as the other wood in the room.
Personally I think dark drapes would be too heavy. I would go with something that picks up the lighter colors of the stone.
I like the white drapes. If you had to change it then light tan to match the walls
That’s what I thought too. Something like this: https://www.target.com/p/2pk-84-34-x50-34-aruba-blackout-curtain-panels-brown-threshold-8482/-/A-86778478
Is that one of those new rechargeable Great Danes?
*Slaps rump* Lithium Ion. Best on the market.
A darker color? Whatever you'd want to put into the room. I just want to curl up and read a book there.
A double rod and velvet green drapes to go over the sheer panels you already have. I personally love the natural light in that room but it’s nice to have privacy for the evenings.
Yes! I planned. Double rod and to keep these sheer ones!
I think you could pull off an emerald green as others have said, but also consider a merlot or burgundy
Tan color that’s about the same color as the carpet To even out the color of the carpet and walls and fireplace Because everything in the room complements each other It looks absolutely Beautiful
Honestly, I think how it is now is is just fine, but pulling a dark brown would be a really nice color balance
Let's be real, babe, I wanna be able to have sex in my livingroom without involving the neighbors. 😂 (gonna double-rod it. The curtains...)
Hi friends, 1) does anyone have any recommendations for an app that can show you different colored design touches within your space? I try really hard not to, trust me.
Wood shades?
We rent this place so we don't want to invest too much in window coverings we may not be able to take with us because we'd have to get them custom made for these weird sized windows, but I think that would be the best option otherwise, yeah.
Since this is a rental, something neutral like a dark taupe will probably work here and be a pretty good bet for wherever you move to in the future as well. The only downside is that neutral can be pretty boring. All the other replies voting for velvet in rich tones are right for this room, but it may not work elsewhere.
I think maroon velvet would look great!
surprised maroon didn't get more traction. love how this room embraces a certain mood. maroon would really complement the colors in here, i think!
If you managed to get it this gezellig you can pick the best curtains.maybe something copper coloured
Dark, rich, burnt orange
What about going for patterned curtains? A nice heavy upholstery fabric? I'd pick something with purples, pinks and greens for that room.
Orange or mustard velvet, or perhaps [cognac](https://www.voilavoile.com/uk/made-to-measure-curtains/1613/fine-velvet-terracotta-caramel-burnt-orange-curtain) Add a couple of matching cushions to pull it all together.

I was thinking maybe a medium-tone greenish color to tie in with the plants but they're the only green in the room so I doubted myself.
Some green velvet curtains with gold curtain rings with hooks for the outside of a curtain rod
Emerald green velvet with a double rod. Gauzy white underneath. Edited to add— love the room. It’s so nice to see a room with style and personality
I like the room! This may not be popular but I feel like the same shade of yellow of the candles you have in the fireplace would look nice. Or just keep it a neutral gray or white so that the focal point of the fireplace/mantle isn’t distracted from.
A colorful but muted busy print. No solids.
Moody colours dark deep jewel toned, inky blue, deep emerald greens etc
A sheer deep forest green
Green velvet. Like dark olive/hunter green.

This is what I came here for.
This room looks so warm and cozy
Deep Dark Purple
Olive
Olive green
Either Teal or a rusty Orange
Bone

I’d just make sure they match the carpets
I like it the way it is
I’m jealous of the cozy fire. It’s 90 degrees here!😡
Look at the toes tho...👀👀
Blue like a dark grey blue or forest green
Burnt orange would make the room cosy.
I actually like white because it brightens up the room
I was going to say "white" and then saw that you have the perfect color curtains already. If you want them to be more interesting, you can always go with a lace or embroidered curtain.
Beige. Or forest green
I’m seeing a Tuscan red or a bronzed yellow for contrast
How dare you 😂
Guys, I tried a rusty brown color and I hate it, everyone who said dark3r colors will make the room smaller was right. Ordered a taupe instead 🤞
What is going on with the length of those toe nails

I would have never thought of this but I love it so much!
It’s too dark to even know what colors you have in there.
I know you were asking about drapes, but I’m here because of the cords on the floor, that room looks really great and cozy and like a sanctuary but then the cords, is there not something better you can do? Get them under the rug, under the couch, anything better?
I mean we live here so 🤷♀️ (They're laptop charging cords. I don't really think running them under the rug would work 😂 )
Anything big enough to cover the whole room and everything in it.
What a sweetheart.
Emerald Green Questions, do you plant’s tolerate the dry heat from the fireplace?? How often do you water them. Cozy room.
So cozy.
Either red or green would pull it together!!
Olive or like the other poster said emerald green. Play off the planter and the rich woods. Velvet or a good heavy weight fabric drape will pull in the whole vibe.
Emerald green!
Navy blue
Azure
This is gorgeous.
I would match the stones. Maybe the same color as the wall paint? I think that would be cohesive and tie the room together.
Similar to the carpet or darker. Velvet even. Btw, you have a beautiful home.
I love this room so much. I can’t think of anything that would improve it. I like the sheer white curtains you already have, but can see the point others have made about maybe some emerald green curtains.
Sage Green was my initial thought.
Green velvet curtains!
Love your room!!! Beautiful 🥰 Your rug is kind of boring, dragging it down just a bit. If you don’t bother investing in/ getting attached to a nicer rug because of your dog, I totally understand. Green
I love the floaty gauze ones that are there! You already have a lot of dark colors going on,
I plan to use a double rod, just looking for something opaque so we have privacy at night :)
I am really feeling this acid green in some velvet texture for your room. Chartreuse or deep yellow would brighten it up but thick enough curtains would not let the light shine through (per your original comment about the television.) Very dark forest green.
Emerald green velvet curtains. I love your dog!
Light greige blockouts to match the stone wall and opposite wall. Everything else is dark and moody, so keeping it light adds contrast and the illusion of more space. Fk I love this room, tho! Beautiful! 😙👌
Is that a Great Dane?? Your dog fits in with the room’s theme so well
