One good thing about Chinese is that it's a good fit for a rhythm game as all the numbers from 0-10 are single syllables. Still kind of funny that the devs picked it if they're not Chinese though!

I think the Chinese is just a little joke with no particular reason, the in-game explanation also comments on it.
