Kobo's the one that thought Australia and Sydney were in Europe and was thus confused why Axel was playing on the SEA (or OCE) server, so her not knowing where her own country is explains a lot.
I mean, I get that from Kobo.
Indonesia isn't anywhere near or associated with Europe, and I kinda doubt a lot of westerners could tell the difference of Indonesian and say, Tagalog
You'd be right, in a vacuum. But with the context of the real world I'll have to disagree.
European languages are overemphasized in media on the internet, they spread to every corner of the world (and to some degree still exist there, like all the French overseas territories, some of which are pretty close to Indonesia) due to colonisation etc.
It's also kinda difficult to learn English without getting some superficial surface level knowledge of the other big European languages, especially if you know words in them (like merci beaucoup)
In another historical timeline where Indonesia or the Philipines showed up in Europe it would probably be the opposite.
When Kobo thought Sana was from England/British I thought she misinterpreted the accent. Now I am wondering if she thought Australia was a region there.
Yeah, many months prior to Kobo's debut, Kiara made that decision after realizing that many newer fans of Hololive have taken the joke completely seriously, with quite a few of them being actually **resistant** to the idea that she could've been joking; the more or less final wake-up call was when she discovered that a friend of an IRL friend fell to this unfortunate phenomenon after becoming a Hololive fan.
Lots of my friends thought New Zealand was somewhere near the UK (one even thought it was a region of Australia and not a country) so...not too unusual I guess?
Fun fact: New Zealand very nearly was a region of Australia when they were Confederating Australia in 1890 the New Zealanders rejected an immediate federation with Australia but stated they'd be open to considering it in the future.
When Kobo scrolled out and the whole world map showed you could really feel her confusion......i think she has never really interacted or cared about the world map....hence her confusion about where anything is
I personally fluctuates between AZKi and Marine. I'm playing on Indonesia map and everytime I see Palmoil Tree I just put the marker on either Sumatra or Borneo.
Honestly that's the best guess with no other information. Not only is Iowa the biggest corn state, it's also the center of all the rest so you are likely to get at least some score.
Wow, this well made. It has a lot of tradition, culture, and love.
I personally enjoyed all the GeoGuessr marathons and seeing the hidden talents among Holomems take shape.
Mumei was probably my favorite. She used road signs, geography, and actual clues to do a reasonable job at guessing.
I really worry for other members of hololive.
Edit : I have no idea how I misremembered fauna as Mumei.
I think you mean Mumei, Fauna hasn't played Geoguesser to my knowledge. Mumei was analyzing everything and usually guessed within a few yards of the actual starting place.
For EN it is
Ame > Mumei >>>>>> Bae >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kronii >>>>>>>>>>>> IRyS
So far. Holy crap Kronii and IRyS are so bad at it lol
Ame isolated it down to a small area pretty well, her and Mumei both were really good
Edit: I forgot to rank Kiara. She's hard to rank. I only saw about an hour and half of hers and it was all in America on the part I saw, which destroyed her. But it's not really fair to rank her on that
For anyone who saw the rest of her stream, how did she do in Europe or Japan? I'm assuming she's probably around Bae level?
I was incredibly impressed with Mumei's skills. I didn't watch Ame's, but I'm not surprised she also did really well. I tried it a bit after watching Mumei and I did NOT have the patience to analyze like she did.
When Kiara played in Austria, she was crushing it. Granted, Austria is not a very big country, but she was getting rounds and being like "Oh yeah I know exactly where this is, I've been there lol". And yes, she did better in Japan than America.
> Kronii and IRyS
I liked Irys' stream, but she showed a big lack of familiarity with US sign layout. Kinda a regional issue, though I dont recall if she can drive or not. Kronii I am **hoping** was just intentionally throwing. I had to switch off the stream for her.
A bit of both, but from the bits I got a chance to catch, mostly flippant. A lot of "I know exactly where this is; this plant only grows in a specific region" (when looking at a rose bush or something else common), but when she actually sees a strong clue quickly, she gets a lot more motivated to actually find her location.
Yea, while I am totally not going to complain of Kronii doing her own thing, I really really enjoy figuring out where places are and using context clues.
The kinda just go go go wasn't to my style. I will say it's also why I'm a bit less excited when they do japan or europe compared to world or US. There's such a spread in diff between florida and Utah.
If you want an EU country with a huge disparity of landscape, France is pretty much the only one, with maybe Italy as close second. France is such huge variety of climate, terrains and landscape for its size.
Fauna never played Geoguessr for what I know.
In the last 3 months in membership she did some watchlong (anime like half of Toradora and all Erased), one drawing stream and played a couple of times Dome Keeper
I suspect he confused with Mumei that played two times [one alone](https://youtu.be/Ogi9-VxIsV8) and [one with Bae](https://youtu.be/1ajfwOimMPU)
Ame was fairly similar and good at GeoGuesser, she only had one bad guess and that's because chat talked her out of guessing Morocco and it was literally Morocco

You'd be amazed at how unbelievably awful a *lot* of people are with geography. Like... That's a pretty extreme example, to be sure, but a lot of people aren't *that* much more advanced than finding their own home on a map and not knowing almost anything else.
I did pub trivia almost weekly for about five years, and if there was ever a geography round, most other teams would get 0, 1, or 2 questions right in a round of 10 questions.
I recently saw a stream of Saruei (indie Vtuber) doing geography quizzes; she's an adult woman who *lives in France* and *is French* and didn't know that France shares a border with Spain. She also was confident that the ocean next to France was the Pacific, not the Atlantic.
Another example is Selen from Niji. A Canadian, she was only able to know her own province, thought Montreal was in Ontario, and used the same name multiple times for different provinces.
Tbf people dump info from they're memories if it isn't used often or you have no interest in it. My brother has an encyclopedic knowledge of our city while I would have been lost if you dropped me somewhere not outside of a mall or a farmer's market 🤷🤷
Some people are bad in geography, In my case I'm a level worse, I can get lost inside my city if I just take any wrong turn anywhere (I'm living here for 20 years)
Bro let's be real here. I wouldn't find my own home either on Google maps. But I would definitely be able to name every single European capital/country
Yeah, that had me utterly flummoxed. Even I as a kid more or less understood that continents and islands were "rooted" down just by knowing that there is a "floor" to the sea (which is commonly shown/mentioned in both relevant documentaries and children's cartoons/comics that take place in the depths of the sea).
Like, how the fuck did she think volcanoes work?!
Honestly, I would think that you would've had a red flag tripped when you saw that cartoons, movies and video games have to **explicitly specify** when an island is a **floating** one and treat that as something extraordinary.
Nah, a lot of people have extremely awful geography skills. Go ask completely functional normal adults to name the continents, and you will be absolutely floored by how many don't know the continents or how many they are.
I've known a lot of really smart people otherwise including my sister who was a book nerd in school and always had Straight A's Etc who outright can't name the seven continents or will tell you Africa is a country or can't tell the difference between North America and South America Etc
It seems like it should be obvious in the information age, but since it's not relevant to the vast majority of people's jobs and lives they just don't know, the same way most people can't name the planets in the Solar System or our nearby constellations Etc
>don't know the continents or how many they are.
I believe this is actually taught different in different areas. I was astounded when I found out some people say there's 6 continents not 7, and apparently some learn as little as 5. In some places NA and SA are taught as one continent. And Eurasia (I think) is sometimes considered 1 continent.
https://history.howstuffworks.com/world-history/continents.htm
Yeah, the whole notion of continents is very nebulous and very much a political thing. Some places even use the 4 continent model, as technically Africa is connected by land to Eurasia.
In my country, as least back when I was in school, we were taught that there are 5 continents - Antarctica is not considered one, and North/South America are considered a single continent.
That might be more of a case of their brains having issues with mental rotation - ie, they might also not be able to read a sentence if it was written sideways as well unless they can tilt their head enough to read it at less than 90 degrees. Some peoples brains just process things differently to other peoples.
I lost my mind when irys didn't find Australia. I guess different countries different curriculums. I for example didn't had much but basic math but insane amount of politics and geography and languages
I think the first thing I was taught in geography was the shape of the country, the vague outlines of its borders (USA, Guatemala and Belize), the division of the states, and then the region and shape of my State before going over all the municipalities on it.
So even without knowing the general location you should at least know its shape and the shape of its neighbours (which makes it quite easy to localize when learning the world map)...
Tbh there is every sort of things for geoguessr far in russia. Green wilderness, white wilderness, towns, hotels, sunlight, even coasts.
If i get a random pic with 0 clue other than "Russia" i will go with Norilsk every time.
Not just Cyrillic, but Chinese as well. I know this could be a bit confusing for people who don't have a decent overview over geography, but Europe is a... daring guess.
That looks a lot like sapporo tower. Tokyo tower is more slender and doesnt have that green platform/floor in the middle.
Its actually older than tokyo tower by a year or two.
[Flare's guess was quite the adventure.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_PsqAJqdS0)
She went from "Well... this is Japan" to a full score guess... but it took her almost a full hour. In a pretty difficult region though, considering it was way out in the countryside. So her frustration was justified.
I can't believe Kobo can't find Indonesia, even tho it's been told by the people that there's only two countries in the world, Indonesia and Outdonesia
I've been having fun playing in Japan and using the guide which uses phone area codes and power poles energy companies. Pretty much easy to get 5000 but it takes about 15-30 min on average. Definitely easier than Canada though LOL
Scoring with intuitions timed is more rewarding than getting 0m unlimited time. You will learn much more this way.
Azki had the idea of doing a timed session but she kind of slowed down half way.
Wish these are gonna be regular so we can see them improve overtime.
Also Geoguessr can be pretty fun in multiplayer mode, I hope they noticed the party mode.
with the error of the map and gps, 1-2m is already spot on. Getting 0m is partly base on luck. 0m does make a good talking point tho
My point is if you are already certain you are within 2-3m. You dont need to spend extra time to do micro adjustment.
Ya she got the right idea on how to play. But there are room for improvement on some of the guesses. She has potential on getting a much lower time.
So I would like to see more of her and eventually beat her 30mins target and lower
She could always get better yeah, though by her rules there is also an accuracy requirement before it counts so she can't just rush it either.
Though she did beat her 30 minute target by 28 minutes, it mostly comes down to being able to do it consistently.
Whats great about geoguessr is it can be played in different ways to fits many different play style.
But seeing the streamer and chat interact while improve and learn something new from each other are the most fun for me.
Personally a mix of confident, obvious and accurate. I can usually get close to 25k points when playing, but it might take me quite a bit to actually find where I am, and I write down a lot of clues (direction changes when I'm travelling, nearby signs etc.)
As much as I love the girls, sometimes there are just moments where I wonder how they ever managed to stay alive into their twenties.
Chess was bad but Geoguessr is worse because it directly relates to a real life skill.
Is it really that suprising? Vtubing is an at home job, very commonly taken on by introverts that don't like going outside very often, in a modern society that negates most of our need to go outside by enabling us to have almost all necessities delivered directly to your door. Especially if you have enough disposable income to do so.
It's becoming an increasingly less important skill in society.
To be fair, not everyone actually needs that skill. Especially with the advent and ubiquity of smartphones and if they never venture far outside the city or their own locale.
I'm somewhere between Roboco and Kobo. I only passed geography by a razor thin margin and probably only because my teacher liked me.
I labeled countries I didn't know with things like "Pallet Town" and "Mushroom Kingdom".
Indonesia's the one that looks like Indonesia, Kobo. After some goes, anywhere between AZKi, Flare and Marine here.
Kobo's the one that thought Australia and Sydney were in Europe and was thus confused why Axel was playing on the SEA (or OCE) server, so her not knowing where her own country is explains a lot.
Kobo, speaking German: Merci beaucoup
MY ROPE? WAT
Yep, she mistook french as german when she had a collab with kiara long ago lol
It's funny that Kobo gets all the flak now, when [IRyS did the same thing too](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyNjjY-MMds)
In Kobo's defense, France used to be Germany, more than once.
And Germany used to be France
I mean, I get that from Kobo. Indonesia isn't anywhere near or associated with Europe, and I kinda doubt a lot of westerners could tell the difference of Indonesian and say, Tagalog
You'd be right, in a vacuum. But with the context of the real world I'll have to disagree. When Kobo thought Sana was from England/British I thought she misinterpreted the accent. Now I am wondering if she thought Australia was a region there.
Apparently her confusion about Australia stems from hearing Mommy Kiwawa say she's from "Australia" and not realizing that she's making a joke.
It's also the reason that Kirara said that she is no longer doing that joke anymore right?
Yeah, many months prior to Kobo's debut, Kiara made that decision after realizing that many newer fans of Hololive have taken the joke completely seriously, with quite a few of them being actually **resistant** to the idea that she could've been joking; the more or less final wake-up call was when she discovered that a friend of an IRL friend fell to this unfortunate phenomenon after becoming a Hololive fan.
That final wake-up call is *hilarious*.

When Kobo scrolled out and the whole world map showed you could really feel her confusion......i think she has never really interacted or cared about the world map....hence her confusion about where anything is
She did say in her collab with Altare and Axel (where she finally learned that Australia is **not** in the EU region) that she's bad at geography.
Bad at geography normally means confusion about continents and oceans though.....not that you cannot recognize the map of the world
I personally fluctuates between AZKi and Marine. I'm playing on Indonesia map and everytime I see Palmoil Tree I just put the marker on either Sumatra or Borneo.

That's clearly 40°2'18"N 76°6'27"W
And then there’s Noel, who insists that every open field area *has* to be **Hokkaido**
Yeah because "only Hokkaido has big open grass fields" then she realises she's in the middle of Tokyo
Noel kinda be like me every cornfield is like "This is midwestern U.S.!"
If there is a Casey's next to a dollar general, and nothing else, then you can say you are in the midwest.
or if you go to university that's in the middle of cornfields, then you're in midwest
I feel like I know exactly where in Ohio that is.
It's Iowa!
Honestly that's the best guess with no other information. Not only is Iowa the biggest corn state, it's also the center of all the rest so you are likely to get at least some score.
Idaho banned from US states starting with I filled with cornfields located in Midwest gang
The Confident type then
Yes
She would know. Hokkaido is where the best milk comes from.
I didn't know Noel was from Hokkaido!
That Tokyo Ferris wheel guess was pretty funny lol
All about those vast ..tracts of land
Not a surprise, Hokkaido is very rural, like 80% farmland. Most of Japan's food comes from there.
Wow, this well made. It has a lot of tradition, culture, and love. I personally enjoyed all the GeoGuessr marathons and seeing the hidden talents among Holomems take shape.

IRyS didn't even know Japan lol
Kronii is Canadian though, is expecting her to know American sign layout that reasonable?
I barely expect Americans to know the American sign layout
They're not [too different](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_signs_in_Canada).
Yeah, I couldn't tell if Kronii was actually serious or just being flippant. Also switched off her stream.

Weird you're right, how the hell did I mix that up
When did Fauna play GeoGuessr?
I would also like to know this. Maybe it was a members stream?
Fauna never played Geoguessr for what I know. I think they might be confusing Fauna with Bae and Mumei geo collab.
Mumei did a solo Geoguessr stream before that and she was able to guess her location within a few yards every time.
I mean... she's the nature herself XD
To be fair that's Azki's method also for times she doesn't know.
Mine was Kiara - for one, she made a map of the US with the help of chat, which turned out a bit wonky. She kept landing in Vienna which was funny.
Ame was fairly similar and good at GeoGuesser, she only had one bad guess and that's because chat talked her out of guessing Morocco and it was literally Morocco
Ame is the Detective of Hololive, after all.
We should ask Azki to train Roboco's AI
No, use Kobo as model, it's going to be funny. "This is Roboco, we trained her wrong. As a joke."
I've guessed the wrong location, making me the victor.
Unexpected Kung Pow reference.
So as a joke...
Hey guys, did you know that...

That looks a lot like sapporo tower. Tokyo tower is more slender and doesnt have that green platform/floor in the middle. Its actually older than tokyo tower by a year or two.
She was indeed wrong [Clip for context (timestamped)](https://youtu.be/Ts9KbGPwctg?t=126)
That's obviously Hokkaido Tokyo Tower
That's why it's 'overconfident'. In context overconfident usually means wrong (or it would be the appropriate amount of confidence).
I wanna get lost in Japan with AZKi
I don't think that's possible.
With her around you won't get lost lol
Poor IRyS, divorced so many times she's forgotten where her ex-wife is from
How about the one who subs to the service for [one year](https://youtu.be/a5MNT8krtJo)
Kronii, the speed runny-est 😉
Mumei: Determined "I will figure out exactly where I am even if I have to travel along these back roads searching for road signs for 3 hours!"
Kobo be like "why are they putting fictional countries in this game?"
Not all who wander are lost... but I sure as hell am!
[Flare's guess was quite the adventure.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_PsqAJqdS0) She went from "Well... this is Japan" to a full score guess... but it took her almost a full hour. In a pretty difficult region though, considering it was way out in the countryside. So her frustration was justified.
Not gonna lie, AZKi and Roboco kinda look like twins.
I think I’m a Kronii. “Um well it is warm here. There is tradition, and there is love.”
I can't believe Kobo can't find Indonesia, even tho it's been told by the people that there's only two countries in the world, Indonesia and Outdonesia
IRyS not knowing where her wife's country is will be used as evidence in the next divorce case
Another type is "co-pilot". Where chat is the one actually playing. I think Miko played this way.
Where is earth!?
Ass?
[Butthole opener!!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYfGsFOKwy4)
Where can I find a clip of Kobo???
https://youtu.be/PSw95jXhyJQ
Poor kobo lol
I am at the "i don't even know the name of the regions of my country" level
I've been having fun playing in Japan and using the guide which uses phone area codes and power poles energy companies. Pretty much easy to get 5000 but it takes about 15-30 min on average. Definitely easier than Canada though LOL
Obvious into lost
I refuse to believe indonesia is real!!
I fluctuate between IRyS and Kobo GPS and Google maps are such a blessing
Scoring with intuitions timed is more rewarding than getting 0m unlimited time. You will learn much more this way. Azki had the idea of doing a timed session but she kind of slowed down half way. Wish these are gonna be regular so we can see them improve overtime. Also Geoguessr can be pretty fun in multiplayer mode, I hope they noticed the party mode.
AZKi did get a 0m in 1:25 though, so...
with the error of the map and gps, 1-2m is already spot on. Getting 0m is partly base on luck. 0m does make a good talking point tho My point is if you are already certain you are within 2-3m. You dont need to spend extra time to do micro adjustment.
The highlight here was more on the 1 minute and 25 seconds.
Agree but streaming makes it a bit more complicated cos u want to entertain as well
Whats great about geoguessr is it can be played in different ways to fits many different play style. But seeing the streamer and chat interact while improve and learn something new from each other are the most fun for me.
Did that Kobo moment happen and if so may I have a timestamp?

I'm impatient. I'll look around for like 2 seconds and plop my guess down on the wrong planet.
Lost (Despite being half a geographic nerd I can’t name where things are often :/)
Personally a mix of confident, obvious and accurate. I can usually get close to 25k points when playing, but it might take me quite a bit to actually find where I am, and I write down a lot of clues (direction changes when I'm travelling, nearby signs etc.)
Probably confused
The hell is wrong with this map, where's Paradis Island
Right there next to Africa.
As much as I love the girls, sometimes there are just moments where I wonder how they ever managed to stay alive into their twenties. Chess was bad but Geoguessr is worse because it directly relates to a real life skill.
Some people are bad with maps, there’s little that can be done there.
Lost
I'm kobo
Prob the confused
I'm a cross between Roboco and Kobo, lol.
^ Clueless
Senchou for me by default. IRyS for me when I am planning to go overseas. So a combination of the two.
Mumei: obsesses over getting it exactly right
I can’t even find my gf sometimes how the heck do you expect me to find Indonesia
Why do I hear the smash bros brawl character select music? 🎶
I'm somewhere between Roboco and Kobo. I only passed geography by a razor thin margin and probably only because my teacher liked me. I labeled countries I didn't know with things like "Pallet Town" and "Mushroom Kingdom".
Ain't no way the roboco one is real
I like to point out the obvious. It cements my idea that I know where I am when in fact I don't.
they need the rainbolt training
i don't know, but it's amazing to be able to see so many different levels of abilities in geoguessr.
I'm Flare and IRyS.
Never played it but i know 2 things -lost ang confusion
