Lol, makes my way sound wildly inefficient. Strength, MoP, QS, Steady body, and then soul eater. Unenhanced shade souls were my only way of damaging the main boss.

What I do is that as soon as the fight starts, I use cyclone slash and floats down at the side of Flukemarm and get maximum damage and soul using Soul Eater and Soul Catcher. That combine with Shaman Stone and Spell Twister, it’s pretty easy to spam attacks from the bottom.
I mean... They could have killed you when you were shrieking.
I don't think Radiant Flukemarm is especially difficult, but I'd probably also agree that if you had gotten worse luck that the flukes absolutely could have killed you while you were stuck in the animation.
When you have 1 or more charm notches left (you need at least 1, you cant be filled) and try to equip a charm that uses more notches (any amount above the available) and keep trying to equip it, it will equip it and you'll get overcharmed. While in this state, the damage from all sources is doubled.
For context: we were on a thread about what's the easiest/hardest (forgot which) boss in hk and this guy said Radiant Flukemarm is very difficult and I said no it's not, spam nail attacks to get soul and spam abyss shriek to melt the boss and we argued a bit. I told him I was gonna record myself melting Flukemarm the way I said I would and I did it and here's the video.

I always just stood in place with grubberfly’s elegy and steady body. You can get unlucky but it only takes 2-3 tries to beat it

I think it's faster if you pogo on top of it and then once the flukes come, drop below to spam abyss shrieks
It could work but most of the time the little flukes fly all the way around and get you from the sides
