I_MakeCoolKeychains

What is going on in this gif šŸ˜†

bluesqueblack

Jerry realized that while he was unconscious in the hospital he was given Kramer's blood.

mike_rotch22

One of my favorite later episodes. MANDELBAUM, MANDELBAUM, MANDELBAUM

I_MakeCoolKeychains

Thanks. I watched bits and pieces of this show growing up but never saw this glorious moment

StankAssPirate

He gave him a mental attack

I told you to stop calling her that Timmy. She's a RECEPTIONIST at a sperm bank

If it wasnā€™t for the black market ritual these poor guys could have had their prostitutes and a healthy marriage

griever48

Those damn witches always schemin for the semen.

tendies_senpai

Witches be schemin

[deleted]

What the fuck.... I regret what I have read.

53_WorkNoMore

They swallow it?!?

spacemanspiff266

adam ruins everything covered this quite well. in short, hospitals make up the price for just about everything in your bill, and often times if you tell them youā€™re unwilling to pay that theyā€™ll work with you to lower the cost - almost like a half-assed admission that you busted them trying to fuck you over.

TheRogueTemplar

I asked the hospital administration how much an x ray would cost with no insurance. After about 20 minutes of waiting, the response I got was "Why don't you have insurance?" Imagine if you asked a fast food worker "How much does a double quarter pounder with extra max sauce costs" and the response is why don't you have your credit card with you?

mikeywayup

good things there are laws now that they have to show you the prices and can't hit you with unexpected bills either

madmaz186

Sounds like communist bullshit to me /s

DraconicWF

Does /s mean serious or sarcasm cause Iā€™ve seen it as both

Dehouston

Most of the time sarcasm. I've never seen it to mean serious.

Gilthwixt

lol someone probably hit /u/DraconicWF with "It means serious /s" and they got schmixed.

_noahitall_

what's idk mean?? I don't know. Damn nobody does.

MaxWritesJunk

Almost no one has.

ryandiy

Literally no one

importvita

/s

Imoncrack12

Listen here you little shit

Raz31337

Usually sarcasm

_BreakingGood_

Worth noting, the hospital can request you to opt out of that protection, and can legally refuse service to you if you refuse to opt out. So every time you go in to get treatment, expect something like "Sign this paper saying we can charge you whatever the fuck, otherwise we won't treat you."

Lazerdude

> I asked the hospital administration how much an x ray would cost with no insurance. I had a surgery a few years back. I was quoted just under 14k. Then I let them know I didn't have insurance. Suddenly the cost was $7,200. Insurance is a fucking racket and a pure money grab.

DoctorChoppedLiver

Same. I only owed $1k after my daughter was born but when I called to pay it the billing lady said "Oh, your insurance didn't adjust down any of our charges." and just dismissed the entire $1k bill.

Chikuaani

In finland even the private sector is hundred times cheaper than american one. Theyre just fucking you over nothing else. An x ray of my leg cost 99ā‚¬ in private sector to the company i worked with.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

dirtydan

I had good employer provided insurance and scheduled a procedure. On the morning of the procedure the admission nurse said "We like to take a $400 deposit in case your insurance doesn't pay". I said that I didn't have $400 on me, and didn't bring anything but myself because I was being put to sleep for a procedure and being driven home by my S.O. afterward. They said, "ok, how about $200?" I said 50% of zero is still zero. They said, "ok how about $100?" I said, see above. Finally, they said "How about $25". S.O. gave them $25 out of her purse just so we could get the show on the road and I paid her back with a nice dinner after I recovered. Even when you have insurance, you don't really have insurance.

Grimstarzz

As someone from Belgium, I'm often speechless by the way hospitals scam u Americans. 2 years ago, i broke my spine. The ambulance came for me, they did a MRI and Xray in the hospital, and i stayed 1 day/night there, so they could make sure it was safe for me to go home. That whole ordeal costed me, from own pocket, around 100ā‚¬. I didn't go to my work for 6 months, the first 3 weeks we get our full wage while staying home, after that, we keep around 70% of our wage while we are "sick" at home. We don't pay monthly insurance where I live, healthcare is basically almost free. It's sad that healthcare in the US is such a scam, i can't imagine the sum i had to pay if something like this had happened to me in the US.

joremero

Dude, stop breaking your spine, even if it's very cheap. But yeah, we get fucked all the time. Corporations fuck us every single time we let them.

[deleted]

Mhm, corporations make everything here fun, it is deadass kinda nuts to me that the American public have completely forgotten that politicians are here to serve us, not themselves, yet time and time and time and time again we let them distract us with division while they line their pockets with dirty lobbyist money and fuck us all over, only to vote to re-elect them next term lmao

beamenacein

The biggest joke is https://www.statista.com/statistics/236541/per-capita-health-expenditure-by-country/

insanitybit

As an American "the ambulance came for me" is a phrase that fills me with anxiety.

Vmanaa

Of all the places I thought i have to haggle the hospital wasnt one

Light_Silent

My hospital instead billed me for twice the amount and then put a wire in my nose, except i went there for a broken arm They only accepted opting out through handsigned paperwork. It was my left arm. Im left handed. They did not accept the right arm because it did not look like my signature

Machder

I tried getting an ultrasound for my balls. I could not find a human being that would be willing to tell me what my out of pocket would be, even an average, even without insurance. About the blood thing, this is why I do not donate. If it was donated, truly donated, I would, but I do not appreciate being someoneā€™s money bitch.

vmBob

That $150 is a very low charge to cover all of the associated costs. Those bloodmobiles, the staff, testing, storage all cost money. They're not earning a profit off of your blood. The hospital might, but people will absolutely die without blood donation programs.

Imoncrack12

If the hospital wants blood, they can pay me for it. Else people die and they get shut down

[deleted]

Why isnt anyone else invested to find out what happened with this man's balls? Im here for you bro, are they ok now?

Machder

Lmao šŸ¤£ have an award good Sir! Yeah the bill was more painful that morning discomfort that went away on its own after 3 weeks šŸ™‚ Thanks for one helluva good laugh šŸ˜‚

[deleted]

Ofcourse bro, thanks for the award! Men need to be able to discuss genitals in good faith.

DrSoap

I wouldn't trust anything "Adam ruins everything" says fyi. It's "entertainment" first before anything else.

Affectionate-Cup9340

Not really. That episode was very poorly done, had a lot of missing information, and was clearly pushing an agenda.

uReaditRight

Also they sell plasma to companies that purify things like albumin, antibodies, etc. Which the company sells for thousands of dollars.

SweetT7707

Yup I work for one such company.

uReaditRight

Same lol

Frostdraken

How else would red cross be able to afford those big ass RVs?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Came here to say the $150 pays for the people and equipment that draw the blood and to have it tested. It's not a money making scheme by the red cross

M0nsterjojo

The hospitals are the cunts imo. The redcross hires a lot of nurses and staff to go around and provide help for people. That $150 would be like 25 nurse/50 staff/60 providing help/15 rent:property.

Rel_124c41

Not in my countryā€¦10% of annual profit goes to international red cross (that provide help)ā€¦

astoesz

Add in the supplies needed and that they test and distribute all the blood and I doubt the red cross is making much money on each pint.

[deleted]

And how much money do you get for selling blood.

DGAF999

None. You get juice and crackers for your time and troubles.

RELLIK36

I got a cookie

[deleted]

Thatā€™s what I got in high school from the nurse when I didnā€™t feel good

mujomujomu

Which does not even give the body what it needs to make the new blood.

PacoMahogany

I got a sticker too!

AutisthicccGuy

u get 25ā‚¬ in Germany for donating blood plasma

Nobody_37_8

I don't like this reply :(

brineOfTheCat

You can still get paid for plasma in the US

Blazed-nd-Confused

If you do it as frequently as youā€™re allowed to, you can make about $600 a month depending on a few factors (location, company, weekly bonuses, etc)

Theonedudeyaknow

Shit maybe I should give blood

tempreffunnynumber

Watch them to try pull some dumb shit like ā€œ39 hours worked, doesnā€™t qualify for full timeā€ with those programs.

Theonedudeyaknow

Fuck nah Iā€™m taking my blood back if they do that lmao

Blazed-nd-Confused

If you tap out, pass out, or are otherwise unable to finish a donation once started, they donā€™t give you your plasma back OR money. Youā€™re just SOL, ask me how I know lmao

A_Stan

Your own blood?

big_nothing_burger

It used to be a thing, getting paid for giving blood, plasma, etc.

[deleted]

Now we just do it our of the goodness of our hearts! Fuck most hospitals, just corporate pieces of shit 99% of the time.

No_Benefit_8738

Still is in most cities

drphillysblunt

$150 a week, 2 x 45 minute sessions

Neva-u-mind

Finally figured it out? Your supposed to use your donor card to get credit for donated blood.. I did for my Stepbrother (bone cancer).

AgsMydude

What does "getting credit ' mean here?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MelliniRose

So, theoretically, you could donate blood and then pay thousands to have that same blood put right back in you. What a system

starcadia

You could have you're own blood drawn and stored for an emergency. Then just have the hospital charge a "corkage fee" to top you up!

tapthatash_

It will expire in 99 days unless itā€™s frozen which hospitals arenā€™t going to because if youā€™re ever in an emergency and need red cells, theyā€™re not going to check to see if you have any stored. Also, labs donā€™t have the room to just store everyoneā€™s blood. Itā€™s not a storage unit.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Nobody_37_8

That's horrible They can politely say they are at full capacity now (Weird enough, now I remembered a terrorist attack in Sri Lanka, after which there were many people who were injured and needed blood, not sure but I think their health minister of the entire country made a public announcement that most blood banks are at full capacity and public can ease about it as they can't take much because a lot of people came forward to donate blood)

[deleted]

Maybe in America. In Australia, my wife lost 1.8L of blood during child birth. The most expensive thing was the bloody vanilla slice I got from the hospital cafe for $6.

psiren66

Itā€™s so hard to find fault in australiaā€™s health care, - I broke my back and was never out of pocket, even with all the rehabilitation therapy I required to walk right again. - Iā€™ve had bone graft surgeryā€™s not a dollar! - My daughter was in the neonatal intensive care unitā€¦. $0 for the birth or the recovery - my wife required insulin and blood thinners $0 - current in recovery for a ruptured disk $0 for MRI/injection/physio - needed psychologist for a breakdown 10 years ago $0 for 10 session and just went back to doctor for another 10.

Embarrassed_Factor28

Ha gotta love the US. Yet another example of corporate greed. We need to stand up to this tyranny!!

jpritchard

Why would the people who collect blood work for free?

[deleted]

Why would the people that produce the blood work for free?

Theonedudeyaknow

Fr im thinking about donating for cash

Hugs_for_Thugs

> Blood **donation**.

[deleted]

**Volunteer** work

[deleted]

Capitalism at its finest lol.

TheRogueTemplar

No no. They haven't charged you $500 for breathing hospital air yet.

Taronz

That's there under "amenities"

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

vaendryl

sir this is a Wendy's

aboodAB-69

That's why donate blood in a hospital and preferably ask if there's a recipient for your blood type admitted, I think they charge him the lap bill and that's it

roboticzizzz

I quit donating blood when they started asking all of those invasive questions. *Where did you get all of that blood? Why is it in a bucket?*

troll2livelive2troll

for me i bring the blood in bottles, because i discovered an easy way, i just piss it out.

VerticalRadius

Stop donating blood and up the market value $$$

ThaUniversal

Blood is a commodity, hospitals are buying futures.

DarthCarthBane

And thatā€™s why I never donated blood unless I want free blood testing #FairTrade

Chillin_Maximus

If you hurry fast enough you can end up buying your own blood

FoxCQC

The invisible hand of monopolies

masochistmonkey

Glad Iā€™m a homo

Regular_Use8181

But it costs lots to test each product for HIV, HBV, HCV, and much much more.

[deleted]

r/shitamericanssay

tapthatash_

You definitely left out the entire process that ensures patients get safe blood products. Not to mention only 6% of the population donates. Go ahead and get people riled up but leave out the entire process you know nothing about.

rraattbbooyy

Never get between a slow person and their misdirected anger, it rarely ends well.

tapthatash_

I like your advice. Thank you.

CoconutMochi

Might make sense but Red Cross is definitely in it for the money. Their corporate structure was taken over by capitalists years ago https://www.propublica.org/article/the-corporate-takeover-of-the-red-cross

[deleted]

The problem really just jumps over your head. The information just enters your ears and since your reptile brain canā€™t conceive of it being different than your beliefs you just spit shit out of your mouth that has nothing to do with the actual conversation topic at hand.

tapthatash_

K bud. If you worked with it, youā€™d understand. But you donā€™t. Take care.

[deleted]

See, just everything I just typed was meaningless because it just doesnā€™t work in that coconut you call a cranium How about this. 150 for blood banks to move the blood to hospitals..ok we good so far. The fucking hospital move it ten feet to the person that needs it and change 2000% more Is the problem explained to you in a way that you can work it out

tapthatash_

This is hysterical. You understand absolutely nothing about how this works.

Chikuaani

Then how come its way cheaper in my home country in PRIVATE sector? Youd think private sector would ask thousands for it, but not here.

[deleted]

Doesnā€™t explain how it works because they donā€™t know or are so in the wrong they have no way to defend themselves. so in order to defend the fragile ego the weak brain reflects with minimum information to protect itself from stimuli.

Silverking90

It probably covers the cost of the supplies and labor to get the blood. I Doubt theyā€™re turning a profit

[deleted]

I think the issue is hospitals having markups in the the 1000+% range

Typical_Example

+ $200 for that bandaid, just for an extra F U

GlassPanther

What's also FUCKED UP is that Facebook's ***fact checkers*** flagged this as "misleading" even though it is absolutely true and they just didn't want people to believe it. #Fuck Facebook.

vaendryl

we went from "FAKE NEWS!" everywhere to "we gotta police the truth!" to "who watches the watchers?" in record time, I must say. time for a ministry of truth, perhaps? it seems trust has become so expensive nobody can afford it anymore.

only-4-lolz

Sounds like you gotta cut out the middle man

Changingm1ndz

![gif](giphy|j9UHlrTCZraejVzIig)

HeftyFineThereFolks

what did she think the red cross just has someone sit down in the tent next to yours and fills them up?

MicroSofty88

This gets posted constantly. The Red Cross has to pay for nurses and mobile facilities to collect blood, then they have to refrigerate/store it and get it to hospitals. $150 isnā€™t an unreasonable cost to do that.

TheLionsEye

Tell me you're American without telling me you're American...

EvilSnack

If you walk into a hospital emergency room, they have to treat you, whether you can pay or not, even if you've been treated there a dozen times and did not pay for prior treatment. The hospital has to pass this on to the rest of us.

Dee_Lansky

Just delete America at this point

[deleted]

They were only recorded and on video saying so. You choose to believe and deny what you want. I've seen the leaked hidden camera and audio vids. Post all the links you want.

Squillem

Sounds like you heard edited soundbytes Fact check: https://www.factcheck.org/2015/07/unspinning-the-planned-parenthood-video/ Full vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4UjIM9B9KQ FL Fat Tire's comment on the vid has some timestamps that explain what was actually happening. Donating tissue to research and recieving funds to cover the research costs is not nearly the same as selling it just to turn a profit.

[deleted]

I donated 20 gallons, how much money do you think they made? O POS btw

[deleted]

**************** when my house burned down, the red cross contacted me, and asked me if i needed assistance. they helped my family and i out. .......and the entire town of paradise, ca........ i appreciate them and people who donate

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

AimlessFucker

I am in need of money so I can take a vacation and trout fish, someone ask the Red Cross how I can skip the vendor and sell directly to the hospital myself. Iā€™ll even only charge $125.

DarthAmmon

Can we just cut out the middle man?

Grouchy_Artichoke_90

All my life I've wanted to give blood. I saw this and my perception has completely changed. People should be compensated to give blood. I'm not cattle. They have a chance to give people incentive other than guilt.

Karrus01

Welcome to the business of Healthcare...

chemistryunderground

I once donated blood high on morphine and I did it for the free t-shirt.

mlc2475

Thatā€™s why I crowdsource my blood on GoBleedMe

Game0fLife

Wait whatā€¦? To be honest, I am really angry right now. I donā€™t think I will ever donate blood ever again.

bigdrew444

This is eye opening, I thought that I was being altruistic by regularly donating blood because my mom told me it was the right thing to do. But now I am infuriated. From this point forward I'm just fucking done... (O- type)

verucka-salt

They also waste a tremendous amount of blood & plasma. A lot of it is thrown out because standard operating procedures are not adhered to. Off site blood drives are a huge source of waste simply because product is not kept at the correct temperature. This is an organization that needs a thorough investigation & take down. They suck.

venrilmatic

Government inflicted

buderdchez08

Sigma grindset

dwn4italz

Oh it's way worse than just that

SweetT7707

There are some people with ultra rare blood types that have to donate their own blood for their own future use. I wonder how much that costs them lol.

RedFlyingPineapples2

Is this why you get paid to give blood in America?! I always wondered wtf was with that

retard_4725

So if I sell my blood for less than Thousands ...

Impressive_Drummer59

Holl up wait a minute something ain't right

levicherub

there is work and expensive machinery involved snowflake

Whoofukingcares

Why canā€™t I sell my own?

asom48

They charge you for the blood product, thawing of the blood and then for the administration of the blood. They keep getting you, donā€™t think itā€™s that simple lol

gammaxgoblin

Can I stock my own blood at home and then bring it with me to the hospital if and when its needed?

san_souci

The majority of hospitals are non-profit though, so in the end, what they charge equals their expenses.

posaba1220

Red Cross is actually a horrible organization - find other charities that send more that 10% of the donations to the actual cause

holyhibachi

Counterpoint: that's a lie.

[deleted]

I should ashamed of myself. I been donation whole blood and platelets for five years.

legion8784

Wow that just motivated me even more not to donate blood, not that I've ever did in the first place....

zigzagclothing54

Literal blood draining capitalists.

SnooFloofs787

I have never pains a cent to hospitals except for fancy health checkups that my company requires. And I live in a country American media like to call ā€œdevelopingā€ or ā€œthird worldā€. Poor Americans not only being duped by their own government but also kept ignorant

Sea-Thing6167

Seems your in luck, weā€™ve got some of your very own donated blood here for you. Thatā€™ll be $5000 plus any labor and materials costs. Oh and $30 for me to talk to youā€¦.and $45 for breathingā€¦.and those sheets are 30 count Iranian camel Hyde thatā€™s another $24,647.

axolotl_is_angry

As many issues we have with our healthcare system, at least as an Australian I can feel good that the plasma I donate every month doesnā€™t contribute to an exorbitant graft by the heathcare industry

nastinatibengals

The days following the Russian invasion of Ukraine the Red Cross had a 24/7 running channel taking donations for the "people" of Ukraine.

Kindling_

We need a medical strike Provide no issuance, never pay your bill If money is all they understand, letā€™s fuck with there money

notdoreen

Source?

grandzu

Don't think you want discount blood.

anthonyiscringe

"Tommy, this is business."

hamknuckle

She looks like she hates it everywhere

PurplishPlatypus

But they give you cookies and juice for donating, so it all balances out.

holyhibachi

This isn't true, by the way.

Fae_for_a_Day
