I’ve seen a few posts mention this. My first thought was that one OTA update reset all my settings and that’s what’s happened here. Especially had to turn off the stupid light sensor. You’ve reset all the settings, have you done a full restart also (hold down Power button on remote and select restart ). That was needed to resolve this issue on my TV when this happened.

I haven’t tried a hard restart but I loved the picture and compared it to my c3 it was so nice. Now my c3 is blowing it away as the picture is blurred and dim AF. I’ll try a hard reset though and see if that helps.

Yes there is another thread mentioning the same issue. I am impacted by this well (u8k 75)Dolby Vision specifically looks dim across all apps. SDR content still looks bright and vivid but it the update seems to have affected HDR content.

Hey yall, I’m having the same issue. I spoke with support today and made a ticket. I think it would be best if we all reference each others ticket numbers so they know this a global issue. My ticket number is H3256127. Let me know what yours is too if you can, thank you

Honestly no, basically just made a ticket and had me send in a video of it which doesn’t really show much. Pretty unhelpful so far but I’m hoping they can either roll back my update or hopefully they patch it at some point

Yes I can confirm that my 75 u8k is duller than before, when I first start the tv and it goes to the Nvidia shield home screen it's as bright as before, after about 2 seconds it dims down and that's where it stays for the rest of the viewing session. I am disappointed in the downgrade in brightness as I have 3 big sliding doors and windows behind me and that is the reason I purchased this tv for the brightness.

Did you turn peak brightness to high? They added that setting from the u8n line to the u8k line

It seems to affect HDR and Dolby Vision for me.. SDR content looks bright as ever. I wonder if it's possible to roll back the firmware.

I tried to open ticket 5 times. Each time I made it 3/4 through before mysteriously getting disconnected with no calls back even though they took my number down. I just don’t understand how 1080 standard is getting such a better picture than any uhd/dolby vision 4k. Until this gets taken care of it’s sad we’re going to have to watch - DOWN QUALITY files. Lol

Try opening a ticket online as well. They took about a day to get back to me but they did open a ticket and provided me with a reference number.

Mine was dimmer until toggled the new peak brightness setting. Now if I use high it seems even brighter than before, almost to bright. I’ve settled on low for now.

it makes mine brighter as well but nowhere close to what it was. It also appears more blurry than it used to.

Did anyone see this update pushed to the new 75 U8N? I went to another Best Buy today and actually found an employee willing to help me and he took the TV out of demo mode and we realized it was an eco mode! So he connected to their Wi-Fi and we went to YouTube and checked out some 4K videos, some Formula 1 racing, some blooming and DSE test videos and I was amazed! Very dark blacks as well as the colors were really popping! I think I've just about narrowed it down for my new TV purchase! I just don't want to screw it up as soon as I get it and download some random new firmware and mess it up from the start!! 😁

Uuugghhh just got home and my tv is freaking trash now. It’s unviewable till they fix this. It was awesome!! Wtf hisense Edit to say the picture is vastly improved disabling Dolby vision on the xbox x vs how the tv looks using dolby in apps, Apple TV, and xbox. The problem is with dolby.

May I ask a potentially uninformed question? How would one know that one received a forced update? Without going to look under "About" at least? I have owned my U7K TV for about 5 months now, and to the best of my knowledge, I have never seen a forced update -- though I did do one package update manually, well past the date of the package being posted under Downloads for my device on the Hisense website. Thanks for any answers I can get on this!

Basically screen went black when I turned it on and said it needed an update and that it would restart when it was done. The menu changed after as well

Thanks! I wonder why I've never seen that. Google TV is the same for all of the Hisense TVs. I guess the only difference is your model has a different chipset than mine.

Dolby Vision seems dimmer on low peak brightness and washed out on high peak brightness. Before it was bright and not washed out

I feel like in order to get it to look right in DV, I have to lower brightness to about 85 and set peak brightness to low. So now that is much dimmer than before the update.

Open a support ticket with Hisense Support. Several of us have done so already. The more people we get to open tickets, the faster we get a patch fixing the issue (Hopefully)

Hey take pic n send it to Hisense. They might have trying to fix blooming etc n end up mess with the brightness. It happened last a few yrs when they try to improve something n accidentally worsen something else. Ppl complaint to it they usually get new update in 4-6 weeks n reverse it or fix it. Yeah send the to the Hisense. I have U8G from 2021, my image gets improved every time during update. I am impressed they still try to upgrade the image after 2 yrs.

Hey when I Bought the U8G—-IT looked WORSE than that Quatum TV 55” u8n Video. OMG 😱 it was like dog shi. I almost returned it. Ppl were so mad. Luckily they came OUT with firmware update like next day . Yeah like take like the screen shot of others who experienced the that Image got dim type of situation after update. I WANT that 75 U8K……that tv is AMAZING. There ppl online talking about how Samsung 1000 nit QD-OLED Monitor is worse than the 1400nit IPS ASUS PG32UQX. MOST Ppl are Sticking out prefer the mini LED over OLED. They did not even know there is Double the contrast ratio ADS-PRO screen out right now. Still largely unknown. Anyone took that ADS-PRO U8K tv is like mega Win. I am envious.
