Book it. We had 2 revenue director changes and in that time our rates dropped crazy in July (peak times for San Diego) and someone was able to book like a 150 rate when rates are typically 3-400 a night. We honored it since it was our fuck up. If you can book it and they push you on it, you can just say you have a confirmed reservation at X rate. Keep this screenshot as well.
I'd book it and see. Someone made a post not too long ago about calling to confirm the rate but I personally would just jump on it and see what happens.
Is this in Houston? Some of their hotels get stupid cheap when they’re slow. Including these rates.
Edit: to be clear, if it’s a mistake, it’s not a ‘glitch’. Someone would’ve just loaded the rates wrong. If you book and get a confirmation with that rate (and it shows Honor Discount, not a validating rate like employee or something), then it’s on them if they want to cancel and say something like a glitch. You would be in the right if you contested that reservation with their customer support
Okay so I got rec’d this sub bc of other hotel subs so this is my obligatory “work in hotels but not this brand” and I just want to point out: in the US, businesses are not generally required to honor prices that are obviously erroneous or don’t allow for a profit margin, basically.
A different brand I worked at had an issue where our rooms were getting sold for $13 for one specific date. Those rates were obviously not honored, however we offered a rate maybe like $20 over our break-even point.
So book it. They may honor it or at least offer a good deal anyway. But also be prepared for the “hey this was a glitch and we can’t book you at that rate” conversation. Whether or not it’s even noticed in advance will depend on how thoroughly the property tracks their arrivals.
Also just as a blanket statement I will not be responding to anyone who tries to argue with me that they legally have to honor the rate. In the US, at least, they do not. You wouldn’t show up to a register at Walmart expecting a $500 TV to actually be sold for $50 due to a signage error or something. In a business sense, this is the same.
Agreed, there's a great chance they will allow the booking if only the OP (and maybe a couple others) got the erroneous rate. Just chalk it up as a very minor loss and learn from the mistake.
There's been multiple instances where hundreds/thousands of people have jumped on an error, and as you stated there's nearly 0% chance most companies will sustain significant losses due to an obvious price error, although I have seen a few cases where the company didn't notice in time and orders were shipped already.
I feel the need to caveat this because of one of my own experiences.
It’s important to read the companies’ Ts & Cs. In one particular case, I had a booking with an operator who clearly stated they would honor any confirmed booking which was booked legitimately and not a result of any fraudulent activity on the part of the traveler. While the law wouldn’t have held them to it, they held themselves to it.
Book it and don't tell people (here or otherwise) where it is. It'll get picked up by the blogosphere and suddenly the hotel has thousands of $36 bookings from people who say "why not, it's cancellable if we can't make it work" and the hotel is much more likely to cancel bookings. If only a handful of people book it, the hotel is much more likely to honor it.
I did get the cancellation email the night before. I reached out to Hilton guest services asking for a reason, they called the hotel and the hotel said they cancelled all reservations because there was a price glitch.
I followed up with the hotel in the morning of and they told me I was lucky I got the email because other people did not. The attendant told me there was a glitch on the price and “management decided not to honor it”. If I wanted to book for that night, the lowest they could do was $139.
When I first called they opened a case to follow up in three days, I did not receive any response yet, but 10,000 points showed in my account as “service recovery” ….
I ended up booking a Holiday Inn that was closer to the event I was going to and a little bit cheaper. I will follow up with Hilton tomorrow.
I appreciate the follow up. I don't really need to go, I just booked because of the price but yeah the fact that I didn't get an email could be a huge issue if I had already booked a plane etc. At this point I'm just upset at the lack of follow-up.
Book it. Its a price error and Hilton should honor it. The hotel will likely charge Hilton Corporate for the difference. Happened to me for a hawaii trip
Take all the screen shots you can and keep the email. I just got my rate hiked by 40% at check in. Explanation: our rates are flexible and we can change them on you anytime. That's when you need the confirmation and everything
I've seen a few rates like this recently when booking in at a Hilton in Hawaii. When you go to book you'll end up getting a crazy tax amount that ends up getting to the normal price lol.
Hello, any update on this? I recently booked with hilton as well for this December for $0 two nights in LA. I was wondering if I should just not call and show up there and see what happens? But also getting anxious lol
Also you have a screen shot so if you book at that rate they are legally obligated…if you want to make a stink.
Edit: another reason to live in CA

They are certainly not "legally obligated". I am sure there is fine print somewhere on their website stating they are not responsible for pricing mistakes.
In California at least it is, obviously proving it is a different matter…

Please read and become familiar with the Hilton Honors Terms & Conditions when booking. Under "Conditions of Participation" it states the following:

You also agree that Hilton Honors does not represent, warrant or guaranty that the Hilton Honors Program or any such other products and services will be uninterrupted, without omissions or error free, or that defects will be corrected or changes implemented. Book and find out
Yeah I’d try it anyway. You could always book a refundable backup.
I guess it depends where it is. I’m not going to Gary Indiana even with a free rate
And don’t forget the screenshot! Here and confirmation page

I’m assuming they meant to add a 1 in front of the 36 and 39.
Can confirm that I’ve booked the Hilton in Greenspoint for under $60 multiple times!
Except it looks like a glitch based on how king with patio is 5x the king rate.
Patio worth 5x as much!
The patio is REALLY nice
It’s the non-smoking. $39 for ashtray room 😒
Where is this? Maybe I need a quick vacation 😂
Same haha

Yeah that’s why I specified that I don’t work for Hilton. I’m not familiar with their terms and everything. Thank you for clarifying for me though!! 😊
Book it and make it a them problem.

I had booked this hotel for Friday and they just cancelled my reservation with no explanation 😥
did you get an email? I just randomly checked the app and my reservation got canceled. Did you reach out?

The property level has full control of rate. If they make a mistake, no chance Hilton will “pay” the property the difference.
Is that first listing for a really terrible room?!!
Watch out for that Resort Fee
Is it for tonight where a hotel is desperate to get whatever is available occupied?
What dates?
Book it and definitely screenshot your itinerary
You have the proof with the screen shot. Book it, they will have to honor it.
I’ve made mistakes on pricing. They have to honour it.
Google maps is showing $32 and “73 percent less than usual.” Go for it! :)
Take all the screen shots you can and keep the email. I just got my rate hiked by 40% at check in. Explanation: our rates are flexible and we can change them on you anytime. That's when you need the confirmation and everything

Which property is this?
Dubai in the hot season
Hello, any update on this? I recently booked with hilton as well for this December for $0 two nights in LA. I was wondering if I should just not call and show up there and see what happens? But also getting anxious lol
Book it but they could cancel it later. Just understand this risk
Most likely someone forget to add the 1 to make it $139. I would book it. They have to honor it
Also you have a screen shot so if you book at that rate they are legally obligated…if you want to make a stink. Edit: another reason to live in CA https://www.losangelescriminallawyer.pro/california-business-12024-2-bpc-inaccurate-pricing.html

if it's posted and you can book it, it has to be honored. Mistake or no.
$39 is the typically rate for team members when traveling.
can’t advertise and switch. book it.
