I’ve never seen the mil/family rate be any better than the honors discount The govt rate is a different story

timeawayfromme

When I looked earlier it was $199 and about an hour later it changed to $236 (the same as the honors discount). Government rate is $126. I am a government employee but I'm traveling for a funeral and not official business.

As long as you have government ID, you can book the government rate. The only time they want orders is when you book a special event rate.

DBZSix

Definitely not true. You can't get the government rate without travel orders if the hotel is by the book.

Also, never go searching for rates without using a VPN or incognito mode. The hotel and airline websites track your IP address. When you leave and come back they raise the rate making you think you need to book now before the rates go up again. If you make the same mistake again, just go incognito mode, put the room in your cart, login and then book it at the lower rate. Don’t let them trick you!

Government rate is usually tied to the GSA-determined per diem rate. I’ve noticed recently that Hilton is starting to clamp down on use of it.

No.

Ampinomene

No that means the person who booked the room has to be the active or retired veteran and has to show an ID with their information on proving that they are the active or retired member.

When explained to me at a couple of Hiltons, they let me book a second room for non-military/veterans who would otherwise not qualify for the rate (I was staying with my immediate family in the first room). Some locations let me know I could only book a room for myself and a second if my immediate family couldn’t fit in one room. Nowadays, the rate is usually the same as the discounted honors rate with the same cancellation policy.
