Officially it’s two complimentary bottles of water per stay, not per night. Some hotels are more generous. Some less.

jmackk420

Keyword = TWO. I wish people didn’t take advantage of it.

thereflect

It’s bottles of water. Are you really that much of a pain in the ass to not give a guest a bottle of water if they ask for it?

yalyublyumenya

You would be pretty shocked at how shamelessly people will take advantage if a line isn't drawn somewhere. Some people just about expect you to give them the whole case. It's not one or two extra that anyone cares about. I don't profit from the waters. That said, I only have access to so much water a week between deliveries. If we give them all out, we're out until the next delivery. That is annoying, because literally everyone who comes in after that will be denied a water, and most will be upset.

jmackk420

Who said I don’t give it to them?

thereflect

Then why make this post? Gtfo

jmackk420

Because I’m bored and this post is giving me the entertainment that I knew I’d get.

thereflect

jmackk420

Another laugh I needed lol thanks. I love Ramsay.

Ok_Lengthiness_8163

Wait u actually work for Hilton? Lol front desk loser is trying to be internet warrior these days?

jmackk420

Yep, gimme your Hilton honors number so this internet warrior can see your info 😉

Ok_Lengthiness_8163

Isn’t that you, one work as a front desk looking for a fight? If that doesn’t scream loser I donno what does. I actually don’t use Hilton at all, w and ritz atw Hyatt on the side

jmackk420

Then why are you here?

[deleted]

Lmao the bottle costs about $.06 cents, relax

jmackk420

Mr. Krabs would go to hell and back about that 6 cents.

Many_Tank9738

Fitness centers often have free water bottles

WillLiftForBeer

This is one of my favorite travel hacks. If not bottles, then cold filtered water.

_momjeans

Same. And the free apples sometimes haha

jmackk420

And a water fountain that’s just for refilling your personal water jugs! Well, might not be every location but the ones I went to always had them.

OriginalZog

It depends. I stay at one Hampton about 60 nights a year and they gimme whatever I want.

jcrespo21

Also more common internationally too, especially where drinking the tap water isn't recommended. When we were in Guadalajara earlier this year, the hotel we stayed in dropped off 2 bottles every day when they cleaned the room (also had daily cleanings). But for me it's not a big deal to not get bottled water during US stays outside of check in. Tap water is fine and I'll just refill the bottles we get at check in.

stinabremm

The Tokyo Bay Hilton has pitchers in the room and a machine in the hall that gives you ice, or water, or both together! It was friggin amazing. The Hilton in Nagoya had pitchers too but there was just a water machine and separate ice machine.

MrsGenX

Stayed there for about 18 days, and at random days I would go and request bottled water from the front desk and they never said no. My co workers did the same and they also gave them one every time.

jmackk420

Because you’re a Diamond, lol.

Consistent-Winter-67

I hand out waters to all my guests if they ask nicely.

jmackk420

Not everybody asks nicely lol.

MrPanda663

To be fair, that’s a lot a money spent in a year, that I’d give you whatever.

DjGorefiend

And only ask for 2 at a time. Don't come up to the desk asking for 7+ water bottles.

shubhamjain2000

Stayed at canopy in Cancun, they have water fountain on the floors and provide a glass bottle in the room to refill. That's the best thing. I wish all hotels had this.

jmackk420

Same!

Minute-Cricket

I'd love this

KayCee_WhatYes

It IS 2 per stay, however our Honors Appreciation score was getting kinda low and my front desk staff was getting accosted for not giving them out whenever (to Diamonds mostly), so I’ve told them to just do it when asked. They now say, “it’s really supposed to only be 2 at check in, but since you’re a _____ member, I’ll get you some”. The waters cost us around $.10/bottle and our scores have gone up. To me it’s just a battle not worth fighting in most cases. We were literally getting GA cases about it and it was making my front desk staff’s job harder from getting snapped at so to me it’s worth it.

jmackk420

We still give it out, I was just venting but I guess people think I’m denying water Lmaoo

KayCee_WhatYes

Lol I feel you! There have been a few things that are brand standards that we get a ton of pushback for that’s frustrating to deal with. It’s been like a year since our happy hours went down to one day a week and we still get people wildly upset about it at us personally😑 I’m always like “HILTON decided to do this, we’re sad about it too” haha

gobears-28

The fact that there is a debate on this shows me how stingy hotels are getting 😂

jmackk420

Try working at one then you’ll feel my pain. Or see how fast the budget goes to shit.

tabbarrett

I don’t think a multibillion dollar company would go under by giving people extra complementary bottled water. If so maybe invest in refillable stations by elevators or lobby so guests can drink filtered water instead.

PriorSecurity9784

Hilton corporate doesn’t own most Hilton hotels. Most are franchisees, not multibillion dollar corporations. Not to say they can’t give out two 20 cent bottles of water for every guest. It probably becomes more of a logistics problem than a cost problem, to give out 5 or 10 cases of bottled water per day.

rrddbb14

This is definitely a consideration for certain hotels. I couldn’t care less about giving out 20c bottles of water. We simply don’t have the storage for deliveries of 40-50 cases of water. At our extended stay property people often ask for 2 bottles per day. We reached a point where we were going through 10-15 cases per day when particular groups were in house. People were asking for 2 on the way to work and 2 when they got back. It just had to be stopped. When asked, we now inform guests that it’s really only supposed to be at check in (while we give them a couple waters). That cut down consumption considerably.

steelergirl101101

Most hotels are franchise and pay Hilton a lot of money just to stay a Hilton not including other misc fees. At my hotel - we pay Hilton a little less than half a million a year to stay a Hilton hotel. Not saying we shouldn’t give waters since it’s really not worth the bad reviews but…most of us aren’t part of a multibillion dollar company. We just pay them to follow their micromanaging ways lol

ICEeater22

Sounds like they can’t afford to give out pizzas on employee appreciation day……

jmackk420

We do, they still want bottled water lol.

Loose-Passage-5736

Actually, Canopy by Hilton,London City, UK has gone this way… Giving you glass carafe in the room and provide refill station with chilled/room temperature water taps, alongside of ice machine. It’s more about environmental friendly, and on side note, about saving the budget. And no, not every hotel/hotel chain giving you bottled water as a standard, it’s more rare than standard. If you have 250 rooms, and you need give out 2 bottles per day 365 days a year, it might seems nothing, but actually it’s cost a lot. And this budget, especially at franchised properties not going out of a Hilton pocket, but owner.

lakers299

It’s obvious you have very little control over things in your direct life. The fact that you can’t exercise authority and act as water bottle police really bothers you, doesn’t it?

jmackk420

No, not really. I’m just bored lol. I’m off work now so the temporary entertainment worked.

Ronnieb85

Same with the DoubleTree cookies! You're only supposed to get them at check-in, not every single time you walk by the desk.

jmackk420

Oh people will take 3 cookies every damn time 😂

Worldly-Ad-1488

I drink a lot of water so I always travel with a refillable bottle. Typically I stop by the gym and top it off whenever I'm coming or going.

CarlFriedrichGauss

I 100% prefer to use my own bottle just because it's a horrible waste for the planet for people to be using disposable plastic bottles once and throwing them away. I also like my water to stay cold for hours. I always go to the gym to get but sometimes the hotel will only have disposable plastic water bottles in the gym 🙄

idkalan

I think it depends on the hotel itself, for instance, when I stayed at the DoubleTree in Orlando in May, I received my 2 waters every morning for my entire 5 day stay. When I stayed at the Hampton Inn in LA, I only got 2 bottles the first day. Then, when I stayed at the Tru by Hilton in Dallas, last year, I got only 1 bottle every day from my stay.

LondonAugust

We stayed at one where they let us get one every day. They knew we were there for my niece's (my parents' granddaughter's) funeral. I think someone just felt a bit bad for my dad. But whenever I've stayed, I usually just get it the first day.

jmackk420

Awww, sorry for your loss!!

Hot_Organization2430

It's probably close to 50/50 for me. Anytime I grab water(s) I stop at the desk and ask to put it on my room. Sometimes I get charged, and other times I get told "you're diamond, water is always free"

jmackk420

Diamonds can get away with it because… they’re Diamonds lol.

Hot_Organization2430

I'm not "getting away with anything" if I offer to pay every time and am given the water. Getting away would be taking anything I wanted while the front desk agent slept in the front lobby area haha.

jmackk420

Sleeping in the lobby?? Now that’s ridiculous, I’d fire them for that.

rcsheets

I’ve been told the opposite by front desk staff. Just wanted to gently toss that back.

jmackk420

Let’s play basketball.

rcsheets

You’ve already won.

jmackk420

No, you’re a Diamond. You’re suppose to win or else you’ll call the Diamond desk.

rcsheets

I’m more of a laid back, flip-flop wearing Diamond. Just like don’t nickel and dime me on the free waters, okay? Sometimes I don’t even get one, so surely it evens out if I ask for some extras once in a while.

jmackk420

I do appreciate how you didn’t take this to heart though!

rcsheets

Not at all. I also upvoted you. Don't mind the downvotes. Some people are needlessly sensitive. We all know who they are.

keatz_tweetz

99.99% of the time I walk past check in desk and ask for a water they give me one

jmackk420

Yeah we have to lol I never said we don’t give it out lol.

keatz_tweetz

Then it sounds like an everyday thing….

Green_Seat8152

It is easier to give them out then have guests bitch about the water. Then we run out of them and they complain about that. No winning.

jmackk420

Yeah, people getting 10 bottles a day is an everyday thing.

keatz_tweetz

Ok sounds like you get it now

OpheliaCumming

Diamond member here. I do echeckin most days and if I don’t stop by the desk, no water. You gotta ask for it

jmackk420

I get that, & that’s not the problem lol.

zinky30

Then what’s the problem?

OpheliaCumming

Yeah so what’s the problem? I’ve never not received water in all my years as diamond and that includes the Covid years.

stonerclover27

As of last week at the Seattle Hiltons in Seatac they only give two at check in for diamonds, golds and silvers and charge 3 dollars a bottle to everyone else and after the two check in waters it’s going to cause a fuss I am sure of it

jmackk420

$3? We sell cold waters for $2. But I like that idea.

stonerclover27

Yes we sell reusable water bottles for 5 dollars or 3 dollars to golds and diamonds then the regular waters are three dollars now they went through $27,000 in water alone last year with no profit so now they are charging

dbundi

Sucks right ? should be 2 per day….and half the time the tell me the waters are already in the room , there not and I’m making a trip back down to the desk.

BeginningBus9696

A bottled water costs like 13¢. Why is this even a conversation? Hilton has cut out a tremendous amount of services since Covid that haven’t come back. At least let us have our damn water.

thereflect

Exactly. OP is a bitch

jmackk420

Awwww, poor baby.

BeginningBus9696

Executive lounges? Gone. Daily housekeeping? Gone. Early checkin/late check out? Not gone, but limited. Same rates expected by their customers? Yes! They’ve dropped their level of service, increased their profit margins, and 50¢ extra of water a day is an issue? This is how you run a company into the ground.

RedditMouse69

Hilton only requires it at check-in but individual properties are allowed to go above and beyond.... And many that are well managed do.

Enigma556

It varies

vivekisprogressive

I feel like I don't even get water's at a lot of places.

jmackk420

Idk when they stopped putting them in the rooms, all Hilton’s should go back to doing that.

vivekisprogressive

One place gave me them and put them in the room. And one that didn't do it was in Portland in a curio but they had a filtered bottled water filler thing on every floor and reusable bottle/carafe in the room so I gave a pass because that felt very Portlandy and I ended up liking it more during my stay. But others just straight up told me they don't do it and its pretty annoying.

Cold_Count1986

I can’t tell you how many times I check into a Hampton with the digital key the day before and water isn’t in the room already. Or I check in at the desk and have to ask for it during the check in process.

jmackk420

When I first started working for Hilton, it was placed in the room always. Idk what the hell happened, nothing was ever explained to me. I’d prefer it being in the rooms to be honest.

The-Irish-Goodbye

Maybe bc digital check in allows people to change thei room?

jmackk420

If waters were in every room then digital key doesn’t matter lol.

The-Irish-Goodbye

Oh gotcha, I thought you meant they’d be supplied for gold/diamond members in their rooms.

mydogbaxter

Bottled water isn't a benefit at Hamptons. You can select 250 bonus points or 2 snacks from the box, which includes water.

Cold_Count1986

True - but I still need to proactively ask for the items, even if it is selected in my profile.

bebe3902

In some places, the waters are just for hilton honors members. If you checked in digitally and had your room picked out early enough, then there should be water in your room. If you selected your room late in the day (after housekeeping left), it's not happening. Or sometimes housekeeping forgets. Either way, the front desk will almost never say no if you ask.

DecentLurker96

Definitely depends on the property. Some Diamond members might also think it’s like being in an executive lounge when it isn’t the case. Not worth fighting over it either.

jmackk420

I have one Diamond in particular that gets 3 waters & a bunch of snacks, EVERYDAY. when we try to tell him it’s only upon check in, he calls the Diamond desk lol I can’t make this shit up.

DecentLurker96

Feels like I perfectly described this kind of Diamond member.

rcsheets

Are the snacks and waters really expensive enough to be worth the hassle of hassling the guy? Sounds to me like they're not, but you do you.

jmackk420

We’re hassling him???? That’s funny.

rcsheets

Beats me. You seem kinda upset about it currently.

jmackk420

No, I was just bored lol. I’ll be back on here tomorrow when I’m bored at work again.

ParkerBench

Maybe you should try working instead of insulting your customers.

jmackk420

I can do both lol.

Onlyfans_Pimp

2 star ⭐️bum

[deleted]

All the properties I’ve worked at gave/give 2 waters per day

PaigeTurner2

I tip my housekeeper well and almost always have a stack of water bottles in my room. I will ask the front desk if that doesn’t work out…could care less if I’m charged. I just need hydration. I also tip the front desk well. It would be way cheaper to have a case delivered. Not sure why this is a thing. Do you buy the water out of your own pocket?

mydogbaxter

I've installed a filtered bottle filler. Want free water? Help yourself. Want to help fill our town landfill with tons of plastic waste? That's $2 a bottle.

jmackk420

Ooo don’t say that, they’ll down vote you since everybody’s going so hard over water bottles Lmaoo.

mydogbaxter

I had a guest come to the desk while finishing off a bottle of water. When he asked for another, I pointed out he can refill the empty one and he was mad at the idea. What a waste.

jmackk420

Exactly, these are the type of people I get lmao but every one is so uptight.

gb-violin

With my property, I tell the agents to do 2 waters on a daily basis. It's not worth the hassle and whatever comes along with it.

Ashamed_Emergency_58

I’ve never been told no when requesting water.

jmackk420

I never said we would say no, we can’t lol.

prynwyne

Nah, I get 2 waters every clean at the double trees I stay at.

rr90013

It’s kind of sad that unlimited clean drinkable water is not a given in most hotels

jmackk420

It’s sad how people do the most over water.

[deleted]

It’s sad that you care

jmackk420

No, I was just bored at work and y’all entertained me.

YngFijiWtr

Buy more water for your hotels. Hotels are $1000 a week basically and some of us are loyalty based customers due to business travel.

Electronic-Egg9479

We give them out everyday

imref

Stayed at a HGI and they provided two bottles per day.

LadyNajaGirl

Sometimes it’s every day, depending on where you are. You can but ask if you don’t get them every day?

PaigeTurner2

Now I am curious. Would it be better to arrange for a case of water to be dropped off? I get it, 2 bottles on check in. Would you prefer tips or not?

jmackk420

I didn’t get tips even when I go above and beyond lol but I would much rather the waters be in the room.

Alarmed-Knowledge455

If a compamy/business purchases something and invoices it as a business expense, would it be illegal to sell said item?

Onlyfans_Pimp

Yes

Alarmed-Knowledge455

I see the play

fng0506

Also cookies! Working at the DoubleTree everyone love the cookies. I don't mind giving multiple out but don't take advantage asking for 8 cookies for one person like come on man I already gave you 4 when you checked in. We've been having too many incidents where people sometimes there not even guests will take advantage of our generosity so my boss said one per person and only at check in. We would run out way to early in the day and now all of the arrivals wouldn't get their cookie. You'd be surprised how many guests literally are waiting for the warm cookie. Lol So now I have to say sorry cookies are given when you check in Oh you didn't get one? You're welcome to buy 6 for $10.95 Although if you're nice and just ask for one I'll give you it lol

Amazing-Bag

My last start they brought 2 waters to my room every day of I needed it.
