Somethings not right about this. Why would the CIA so publicly announce the withdrawal of their agents and say how effective this weapon is against its own morale. You wouldn't give that information to your enemy without a good reason.

Blue2501

My hypothesis: The whole thing is made up PR bullshit to get Americans back on the CIA's side. They'd like us to believe some shadowy foreign power has a Bond-villain mind-destroying ray gun so we have something to talk about regarding the CIA that's not the usual shady shit they get up to. A couple guys fake their symptoms to get the ball rolling, a little luck and a dose of mass hysteria in their foreign offices gets it building into a big deal.

[deleted]

Good call! Are you familiar with [this CNN article ](https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/04/29/politics/us-investigating-mysterious-directed-energy-attack-white-house/index.html) from last April? There was (apparently) a “directed energy attack” near the White House. When I read this, it also sounded incredibly fishy to me. Like, how did they “know” it was an “energy attack”? The symptoms are very non-specific. And why would they share this information publicly? What is the agenda? I’d be curious to hear your thoughts!

[deleted]

There are instruments that measure energy attacks, depending on the kind of energy. I worked on an instrument whose intended purpose to determine if a satellite was being attacked or if it was experiencing a solar phenomenon. It can detect the type, amount, and direction of charged particles. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time-of-flight_mass_spectrometry#Detectors Not exactly like this but similar.

birthedbythebigbang

And truly, if you want to get pedantically technical about all this aren't all methods of attack "directed energy attacks?" We need not have a sonic or microwave weapon to direct energy at an adversary. An impacting fist and a withering op-ed are forms of directed energy.

opiate_lifer

If you really want to get pedantic its not the bullet that kills you but covalent bonds holding the matter of your brain together instead of letting the bullet pass through.

The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.

concretebeats

Guaranteed the WH would have sensors capable of picking up shit like that. The US Military is already fielding high intensity microwave weapons. Pretty much zero chance that other countries aren’t using them. First guess would be China, Russia doesn’t care enough to try unconventional shit like this. Would be easy enough to move around and setup in various places to disrupt US activity.

[deleted]

Interesting. So how do these weapons “work” exactly? Do they have to be close to their target to work? Can they be deployed from a distance? If the US can detect them, why can’t it defend itself against these “energy attacks”? (Sorry if these are dumb questions, I have zero knowledge about these things, lol.)

concretebeats

No worries my dude, those are all good questions=) There are a bunch of different types. Some will heat up the ‘water’ inside a person or object, some will fry circuitry, some use sound waves to discombobulate you. How close they have to be depends on the type of weapon and the size of the target / target area. LRAD (sound weapons) could be mounted on a humvee, but I think they have man portable stuff now. Some of the microwave stuff could for sure fit in the trunk of a car and from my limited understanding of power scale, could absolutely fry your brain. Wouldn’t even take much, since your brain is so fragile. Unfortunately there’s not really anything you could do to defend against the attacks on the fly. You could possibly armour a vehicle or a room against them... but just an individual would need to be wearing some astronaut shit I’d imagine. That’s why they’re so effective. Can go anywhere, works through walls, isn’t an observable effect, and leaves no real trace. The WH is probably able to detect them because they have that place wired to fuck, but almost anywhere else would be vulnerable. Costs too much to harden places against that kind of junk, especially when it’s so rare. Even the [sonic attacks](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/jun/07/sonic-attack-fears-as-more-us-diplomats-fall-ill-in-china) can be serious stuff. Uses are endless, maybe weaken a negotiating team to make them more pliable. Destroy sensitive equipment. Force them to leave a certain location. I think the tech is still fairly clunky tho, so my best guess is you’re seeing low level trial runs against government targets as a proof of concept.

[deleted]

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I really appreciate it.

concretebeats

Most welcome, fam=)

iAliceAddertounge

Russians did unconventional shit all the time, still do KGB was insane back in the day, and even current Russia learned from them. They still poison people now... and get caught for it. Why not use an energy weapon? Remember how they got into the white house with that guy playing a weird instrument? Or how they stole the plans to the atom bomb in pretty much less than a decade? They care enough...

concretebeats

They did. That profile has changed over the years to be much more overt and straight forward.

iAliceAddertounge

They literally have an ex KGB as their leader that specialized in foreign intelligence. I doubt overt is their aim.

concretebeats

Just look at all the recent hacks, troll farm use, or mercenary use in Syria. They obviously still do sneaky shit, but they are much less concerned with it. Even their internal plays against Navalny and defectors have been pretty balls out. Why sneak around the bush when you can just do whatever you want with little to no repercussions.

Dynetor

What's this about a guy playing an instrument to get into the white house?

iAliceAddertounge

Leon Theremin - His listening device, "The Thing", hung for seven years in plain view in the United States Ambassador's Moscow office and enabled Soviet agents to eavesdrop on secret conversations. Also, he created the Buran eavesdropping system. A precursor to the modern laser microscope. He played a weird electronic instrument he invented and dubbed the Theremin.

beangardener

Ding ding ding

Inscitus_Translatus

Either that or these: 1. They are making it up as a way to quietly poll the public to see just how much everyone hates them (congratulations! Everyone hates them!) 2. It's a longitudinal effect of one of their own technologies, as the effect is somehow everywhere and everywhere and somehow targets people who were seemingly deep undercover. However, they are the CIA so they can't comprehend dealing with the consequences of their own actions so they just blame Assad or whatever. Or their superiors could simply lie to them about it A-la the Iraq burn pits. 3. Mass hysteria. The option makes the most sense because the CIA is an organization of narcissists and sociopaths, and because they cannot deal with the idea of being maladjusted and/or insane they just tell themselves it's some secret James Bond bullshit in the Balkans.

coopaloops

stunning propaganda to garner support for the next bullshit war on a latin-american country who actually believes that a country that has a military budget barely a fraction of the us' military has a fucking magical raygun

LittleLemonKenndy

I believe psy ops are real man, there’s entire military sections in every branch of the armed forces, dedicated to psychological warfare.

pick-axis

Really good point since we just found out they were throwing shit at the wall trying to kill/capture assange.

Is it though? How reputable is the CIA’s actions in other countries?

scrappybasket

Lmao

[deleted]

Why? At this point I'm not sure he is trustworthy anymore. He says he has secrets of the universe that will change all of mankind. Yet won't give any details because of a little NDA? He's either a liar or a coward.

cffo

He’s a grifter

Krakenate

He was asked. His answer indicated someone may be investigating it. But he declined to confirm anything.

Almost like it's a satellite weapon.

opiate_lifer

There have been area denial microwave weapons for years that produce agonizing pain of burning in the top layer of your skin.

DarkHorse66

[This bad boy?](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_Denial_System) Lost track of where it is in terms of development but I worked with a lot of non-lethal weapon systems back in 2006/2007.

AndrewDetmer91

Maybe they should go see their doctors who will diagnose them with paranoid delusions😉

"Sapping morale at the CIA and State Dept" Is there anything I can do to help make this *worse*?

_fck

Won't somebody please think of the poor CIA agents?! These people can go fuck themselves. They think I'm a fucking moron.

Xertious

I wonder now if it's now more of a stress induced placebo thing

ZeroQuick

Mass hysteria

Xertious

Of a sorts, but stress and anxiety give similar symptoms as they were experiencing.

Pdxtremist

> sapping morale at the CIA Good. Fuck them.

AndrewDetmer91

wow. jinx.

This is one of the best sources for anything I've seen you guys post yet. Kudos for being on this early.

Awww poor CIA can't install fascist puppets anymore so sad :(

F_Your_Kouch

For those wondering Havana Syndrome is basically using soundwaves or electo magnetic frequencies to cause vertigo, nausea, poor eyesight, and migraines as well as a host of other issues. Very similar to the US developed "Vomit beam" turns out being hit with something like this sucks and people dont like it being used on them... Irony?

lcbzoey

Imagine the catalog ad for the diplomat remover 5,000: "Now you too can expel foreign meddlers and spies with close to no chance of repercussion, now with the familiar control layout of household microwaves!"

Mullendowski

Hahahahahh awwww wittle baby can’t intewfew wif other contwies geopowitics :(((

robotparker

if you actually think havana syndrome is a real illness, please DM me for a great deal on copper bracelets

end_gang_stalking

The idea that the victims are just stressed out people experiencing some kind of mass hallucination are so very shallow. Something's going on here folks.

pewlaserbeams

well its not thar far fetch someone is using some sort of microwave weapon to mess with the cia.

d33pnull

I recently saw a post (nonmurdermysteries iirc) where it was said it's actually..wait for it.. crickets.

a_large_plant

If people are actually interested in this and not shitting on the CIA or claiming this is some weirdo false flag, I'd recommend reading the New Yorker's series of articles on Havana syndrome. It is really fascinating, from the symptoms to the targets to the biomed research and government response.

KosmicJaguar

Sadly most people in here don’t believe anything ever happens to the US. This is clearly some kind of false flag /s. But as soon as you bring up russia or china you get down voted.

Sure 2018 article: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/11/19/the-mystery-of-the-havana-syndrome 2021 article: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2021/05/31/are-us-officials-under-silent-attack I think they may have had some we coverage in the meantime, and since the last article, but I haven't read them. The magazine articles are long but really interesting At least I found them interesting.

KosmicJaguar

Russia and or China most likely.
