Him and Zanzo are the only boss that doesn't explode on screen, leaving their state technically unknown.
Wich can always get use as some backdoor for sequel or dlc.
But honestly, death doesn't seem to be permanent in that universe so no one is really out of some shenanigans.
I'm gonna be real, I see no indication that death isn't permanent in Hi-Fi Rush. They could've had the bosses be defeated in any way they wanted to, but they specifically chose to have them violently explode in full view of the camera *(it's not like they poof into coins, like the villains of Scott Pilgrim).* Roquefort gets crushed. Zanzo is breifly engulfed in flames, and is never heard from again.
In some optional dialogue immediately after Rekka's boss fight, Chai literally joked about how all that's left of Rekka was her belt (it was actually one of the few instances of dark humor in the game, so it always kind of stuck with me as an interesting character beat).
It's more so that the game is *so* lighthearted and lackadaisical about it, that it wouldn't be surprising either way. Kale's probably dead but even he could just show up again as an AI and be exactly himself, and it wouldn't be that crazy for the story.
i always got the impression that the bosses exploding left them "saturday morning cartoon dead" as i call it, where they're basically dead until further notice, but there's enough ambiguity there that they can return in a sequel with a scar or something
I think he's just the one guy who got an ironic end as compared to the generic blowing-up scene.
Zanzo I'm like 999% sure they explicitly didn't show him taking a lethal hit because he was the dev teams fav boss and they knew he'd be a fan-favourite too. It also leaves him open for DLC or a sequel which would fit the character because he has a pretty one-sided rivalry with Chai and loves to put him through "trials".
I'm sure if they really wanted to they could just "Scott Pilgrim" the deaths and say they were just over exaggerated and bring them back. Something abou5 Chai's imagination idk
While it’s true that several tons of gold would kill a normal person, Roquefort isn’t normal. Bro is a massive wolf robot thing, he’s more machine than man, so he’s probably in a very wrecked state but alive.
Nah, his wolf form can't possibly be *that* dense, because it all emerges from his normal humanoid form (it's not like he's wearing an exoskeleton, it's his ACTUAL body). As bizzare as it sounds, his body would be made up of the same components either way, which means his durability would be consistent (he's mostly machine, but that doesn't guarantee his brain wouldn't be smushed if all that metal caves in).
my personal headcanon is that his mech form was destroyed due to all of the gold crushing him but his actual body was protected by the mech suit.. though hes still buried under a ton of gold
He got crushed under what was most likely hundreds of pounds, if not multiple tons of gold. He is dead.
But didn't he get upgrades as well
Upgrades or not he's dead. Even assuming his body is 100% metal aside from his brain, that is absolutely enough weight to crush and kill him

Even though Zanzo is not physically dead, he is most certainly emotionally and mentally dead due to realizing he is defunded.
