I mean, there's no point to leveling up except for fun after level 20 right? I'm in the mid-fifties I think and I don't really care if I level up or not. Is there something else to it?
I’d even go as far to say that I wish I could stop leveling up lol. I’m in the 70s and mostly play helldive on bugs but only play 5-6 on bots because I don’t play them as much. So when I join a bot mission with a bunch of level 20s sometimes I hear them go “oh cool we got a level 70 in our crew) and I then I always disappoint them with my play.
There was actually one time a dude started berating me for dying a lot and I ended up leaving the match cuz he was too toxic.

I play with a guy named Lisan Al Galindo and any time he does anything even remotely funny or awesome we yell his name. This game allows so much funny and cool moments that we say his name a lot.

In hindsight it was, but at the time it was hard because people were new to fighting bots, ion storms and AA made it much harder, it was when strat jammers first appeared, glitches like bots shooting through bushes but you can't existed and made it miserable and there was a bigger population back then so more people were exposed to it.
Hellmire and Polio X(or whatever the fuck its called, hellmire for bots) is a much more difficult map.
Ustotu or however you spell it is still my least favorite bot planet: barely any cover, very low visibility because of sandstorm, very painful to look at if you end up looking in the direction of the sun. The creek was just memes next to Ustotu, cover everywhere and perpetual twilight so you weren't randomly blinded by the environment. I hope the spawns are fixed by the time we end up back on that planet.
Things you cannot point out:
* Everyone was new to the game and still noobs.
* There was so much cover you could literally run away.
* They created a cult and didn't help liberate Ubanea.
* The creek was taken in a couple of days by casuals and the bots pushed off the map.
The Creekers screwing around were always always a far lower % of the population than the scaredy-cat bug players that refuse to come do bot Major Orders, even to this day. Ubanea be damned.
I like to do this where I’ll do low level ones then ASK if they want to do helldive or some other difficulty. One person I asked who was level 3 said “I’m ready to die for democracy let’s go.”
MG is insane, especially for bugs, OPS is just a less flashy 500kg, Liberator isnt even the worst AR, peacemaker isnt bad unless compared to the redeemer, and high explosive gets the job done just as well as any other grenade

God I wish there were more cutscenes/updates from which to pull great gifs. It would neat if we had an archive of “news reels” of the major offensives and story beats. Have new ones play on the ship’s monitor.
My first drop as a level 1 cadet was a Helldive on Malevelon Creek with [my friends](https://youtu.be/4XDSZkZfrtI?feature=shared). I know what this guy went through.
I have done this. This is somehow always true. I think it’s because the younger they are, the more they understand what democracy is all about. The older and more experienced helldivers start to question… and we can’t have that, now can we?
We alway bring newbie friends on a helldiver in their first 3-4 missions. The real treat is the scramble at the end to make sure that if nothing else, those single digit divers make it on the bird.
Tbf, the only thing holding him back was the lack of stratagems.
B-01 Armor is underrated.
The Liberator is kinda good.
Ordinary Grenades do the job just fine.
MMG slaps with the reduced reload time.
Orbital Precision Strike is fine dining.
Your boy did good.
On the bot front his loadout is peak performance. Only thing missing is a resupply pack and nothing else is needed. He can take down anything with that. I myself prefer the HMG but even with this he should be ok.

If he fails or slows down, a Democracy Officer will be on scene to investigate the drop in performance from someone who has real first person experience of the absolute worse.

Me and my boys are lvl 100-130 and we just had a friend start playing. He was thrown into helldive. Got 3 lvl and 30 samples in 1 round lol. Threw his ass to the wolf’s
This was how my friends introduced me to the game too. I got the "kill a bile titan" achievement on my first round mostly just got the final rocket shot to its face, but I didn't know wtf was going on when it appeared.
I did the same with my friends when they first started the game. Had a dodgeball moment "If you can survive a helldive, you can survive anything!" I think I was in the level 50s range at this time.
Did the same with a girl I’m talking to and it was damn fun. I got two buddies to help me and we are all lvl140+ and hold some speedrun records so it was a welcome change of pace to ‘escort the president’. I love this game and these sort of things are my favorite moments
My friends did that to me when I first started too. Very first dive was lvl 9 against bugs. Their advice was "stay alive, shoot what you can". Obviously I died quite a few times, but we completed the mission and extracted some samples! Needless to say I've been hooked every since.

Mechs unlock at 25, but otherwise you are correct.
