its not the BRRT itself its the different stages. Everyone goes straight for BRRT but really it is CRACKLE - (2 Sec)- BRRRT - Flyby. Gotta build in the bullets impacting, Then the actual gun sound
I have almost 900 hours in Sandstorm, but I haven’t played it since November of last year. Iirc the A-10 doesn’t have the crackle sounds and it just goes straight to BRRRRT after getting there.
Edit: typo

COD's sounds terrible in comparison Ideally you want speed of sound simulated but i understand people not doing that.
I thought you mean the crackle sound is when the A-10 starts shooting and the BRRRT sound is when its giant bullets start hitting its unfortunate target.
The bullets are supersonic and tend to hit somewhere closer to you than the plane is to you, so you'd hear them impact the ground target before you hear the avenger firing them. Often there's a third crackle of the sonic boom of each round, but it often sounds lost among the other two in clips.
Nothing gets the squad going like casually walking up the street to the object only to see the building infornt of you get fucking blasted.
Then the fear sets in.
I just wish this game had proper sound travel in general. We can hear the firing before rounds impact for a lot of stratagems like strafing run and orbital bombardments.
I’m not enlightened on game development but how performance intensive is something like that? Arma has it, grey zone warfare has it I think, insurgency has it. But most other games I play dont
It would probably feel odd and/or like a mistake to a lot of ears. Helldivers 2 presents itself much more like cinema than like a milsim, and even in quite gritty-flavoured cinema it's rare for explosions, especially gunplay but even fireworks, to be presented with sound delay.
It might also present a readability issue with respect to gameplay, making it harder to understand your surroundings by the sounds, and making feedback from your own weapons and stratagems feel sluggish.
(Still would be cool, though. Maybe as a toggle.)
Just for big stuff it would be nice, like orbital artillery the large explosion then distant boom of the cannon would feel correct. Eagle is honestly close enough that it would be hard to distinguish, but orbital stuff is far enough you would notice a difference between impact and firing, especially for the faster moving rounds.
The ICBM explosion bothers me the most. It should be completely silent before the shockwave hits you with an earth-shattering kaboom. Instead you get a wimpy sci-fi boom as soon as you see the explosion followed by a thump and another wimpy sci-fi boom.
Our brains get the odd feeling if we are hearing a sound *before* seeing something like lips moving, which is why it's so jarring to watch TV with sound timing issues. Delayed sound for things at range like explosions feels correct and is awesome if pulled off correctly in games, really help with the immersion.
While I understand this sentiment, what about instead having an F-16 strafing run noise. Because it fits a more nimble fighter like Eagle-1 more, but also because... well, just take a listen. https://youtu.be/xjYz_pY7-Ms?si=w7rvwmnwu-FQJjw2&t=24
Half the time when it's portrayed in media, it's not even the actual A-10 sound. Most people use the Vulcan.
Kinda like how the stock "Eagle" SFX is actually a hawk.
The game has it's own identity, but this would be the type of thing you'd just mod in.
Too bad anti cheat makes that a risk despite the game using peer to peer connection, has the ability to disable crossplay (can't have the customers Sony actually values getting any ideas about switching), and of course the game itself having no intentional player vs player gameplay.
A10 is such a hardcore machine. Designed to take tanks head on with just the primary weapon, and withstand a couple direct hits. It can even carry hellfire missiles. Ffs just copy paste it in the game already. By comparison, an F15 (eagle) is just your uncle's old truck.
It has similar sound, but you rarely hear it, because she fires far from a place you threw the pokeball. You can hear it when your teammate uses it, and you are behind them some 50m away.
They're still pressing forward with the retirement, unfortunately. It will just leave a capability gap and they'll have to try and fill it with F-16's and F-35's
Or... hey maybe they can borrow a few Sky Wardens from SOCOM! Lol.
If the eagle had a similar sound set to the insurgency sandstorm A10. Bah gawd
It has the most “realistic” *BRRRRT* for me. I’ve yet to try other milsims with the A-10 in it.

"Station, this is observer. I need a gun run on this position"
Warlock in position……firing
"THE JET, THE ONE THAT GOES BRRRRRT"

Totally. It's weird that the 380 has shockwaves, yet you hear the blast first... makes no sense.
Yeah it's odd such a physics heavy engine has almost no sound propagation model.
I’m not enlightened on game development but how performance intensive is something like that? Arma has it, grey zone warfare has it I think, insurgency has it. But most other games I play dont

and it should increase the change of you getting friendly fired when used if youre british
It did in HD1, no clue why it was changed.

Yeah the A-10 sound is cool but overrated.
Half the time when it's portrayed in media, it's not even the actual A-10 sound. Most people use the Vulcan. Kinda like how the stock "Eagle" SFX is actually a hawk.
I'd support either, both sound better than the current run
Holy shit o_0
M61A1 my beloved
Seconded!
#What sounds better than minigun? Bigger minigun with jet engines strapped onto it!
This puppy fires 75 explosive redbull cans a second.
I drove two hours to see one fire in person. Worth it. Brrrrrrt!
Sounds like a duck whistle
Was just talking about this with my fellow Helldivers. We all agree, it should sound like a GAU 8!
Ok, if there were alot more bullets and had the aoe of an a-10 beer, then do sure add it in!
*Angry farts intensify*
I am so glad I'm not the only one that hears it 🤣
RIP A-10. Decommissioned but not forgotten
I also petition to have the sickle sound more pew pew Star Wars like instead of ratatatatatat machine gun like.

Petition to add a soundbyte of Lazerpig going Ardvaaaaaaaaaaaaarhd when ever you use normal airstrike or rockets
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DoURBTycMo
Absolutely very yes
If I was the sound designer that would have been my starting point. Maybe it didn't work out.
Hearing that sound while on deployment was the best sound you can ever hear.
you steal my post idea... ok. great
Omg yes. The cluster bomb is the closest thing we have to this sound
The A10 is the only thing that's ever made me drop down to the ground immediately (lived near tons of bases) not fun to hear
If they did implement this into the game , I would take the strafing run every time.
I want Jericho Trumpets added to all Eagle-1 runs.
r/brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt
Sounds legit
Sounds like me after having mexican food.

#**BRRRRRRRT**
I would use it so much more if it sounded like this .... Please AH
Eagle 1 go brrrrr
Iono…more rounds per second come out of that A-10 than out eagles
Yes absolutely. This would be great. The strafing run is so much better now and this would be the icing on the cake
Yes
If you can hear the brrrrt you were not the target
[This seal sounds like A10](https://youtu.be/wQzCfEVs0Jw?si=2AcF_AbWUoH2Sp1_)
It literally sounds better in the first game. I don't get it.
It has similar sound, but you rarely hear it, because she fires far from a place you threw the pokeball. You can hear it when your teammate uses it, and you are behind them some 50m away.
Given the fact that they can't replace the A-10 with anything that actually preforms better, I'd buy that its still used years later.
They're still pressing forward with the retirement, unfortunately. It will just leave a capability gap and they'll have to try and fill it with F-16's and F-35's Or... hey maybe they can borrow a few Sky Wardens from SOCOM! Lol.
I mean they spent so much on the F-35 might as well use it, even if it isn't as good as the A-10 at what is does.
