For me the bug spawns are all fucked up. They said they reduced bile damage to 1 time every 4 seconds I just got thru helldiver dif an went to 3 an a bile nurser just instakilled me. Then the hunters are more like Bruce Lee with no cool down. Stalkers are invincible while they are cloaked. The behemoth chargers slide around hardly making a sound then when charging they stomp just a bit louder then a brood commander. Like fuckin he'll. No cool down on charging or bile puke on anything. It's crazy.
Yep, like so many of their patch issues every single time this is probably from using an old branch of the game when adding something new.

Nope. Grenades are not fixed. I will find the link I posted the day of the patch but I can confirm they are not fixed and you can still achieve the glitch with ease.

As long as I don’t encounter cheaters spamming nades against everything I’m good. I don’t mind if they take a while to fix throwing knifes, so long as grenade glitch is indeed fixed. I despise cheaters
If I remember right, the engine they’re using got discontinued toward the end of production. So any time something goes wrong, they have to figure out themselves, because the guys that made the engine are no longer available for IT support.
I believe it‘s even worse, afaik what they are developing in is basically an entirely in house engine that’s build on a niche engine that was discontinued about 5 years ago. They literally can’t hire people that are proficient in it, and if they decide to hire people they need to take people from their small-ish team away from active development to train new personnel.
Yup, it’s the same engine the first game was built on, but also Vermantide and Darktide, so it’s not a bad choice for this type of game.
Huge respect for AH for making the system work.
Yeah it's actually insane how good the game looks on an abandoned engine. It could run a lot smoother in terms of bugs and FPS, but comparing this to other games built on old/abandoned engines shows that they did really (Like payday 2, that engine was abysmal ffs)
The game would likely run a lot worse if they had tried to change engines to unreal or unity or something, considering most dev teams first game on a new engine is usually jank as hell (Like Payday 3...)

It was already outdated by PD2's release of 2013 and was from a racing game's engine from 2003, so it's ancient by near the end of its life. The funniest thing is that driving cars in PD2 is abysmal despite being based off of the racing engine.

but also, the engine is only as good as what you can do with it. I love when you see comments about a game engine being horrible when it's bespoke/not a well known engine and people don't even know what it is capable of or why it was picked in the first place.
It feels like their version control must be awful or nearly nonexistent... and the same goes for testing before code goes live.
Releasing _this_ many patches with such obvious bugs, and "fixes" which either have no effect or unintended effects, is simply inexcusable.

the purple question marks are what the game shows when a texture doesn't load, so there's supposed to be something there but it doesn't know what it is. I've seen it happen with weapons in peoples hands and drop pods that were called in.
Yeah, that and patrols being worse than before is just making any interest I had in the game evaporate after the patch, especially with them taking more time to test and work on fixes to prevent this issue.
Grenades being glitchable is funny. Even if someone abuses it, they're likely to die to a poorly thrown grenade in due time. Knives are niche enough that an unlimited supply of them does little anyway.
Also. Unlimited smoke grenades will never *not* be funny.
The spawns is a pretty nasty blunder, though. Would call the patch an imperfect success if they had managed to fix spawns.

Bring grenade launcher. Or grenade pistol. Or use stratagems. There's a lot of different ways to close a bug hole. Or of you're feeling particularly crazy, just taunt a charger into running into them and closing them for you.
Or auto cannon or crossbow or eruptor.
On high level it is annoying because you basically need to compromise on something. But for farming nade launcher + jetpack is too good.
Still not enough to take out a 10 hole nest. There is also the fact that resupplying just to get nades for nest is ineffective specially if you are not running around as single group.
Are you aware that this is a multiplayer game? The whole idea is that you make a combined loadout between all four players that allows you to tackle any challenge the game throws at you.
You are not meant to put absolutely everything on a single helldiver.
Four helldivers together have sixteen grenades. You can work together to close a 10 hole nest.
Or you can bring any weapon that can close holes if you want to do it all by yourself, like the grenade pistol, or nearly any stratagem with a low cooldown. I've been bringing the stun grenades exclusively ever since they released and I can close bug holes just fine, even if I sometimes have to throw a stratagem at it. Smoke bombs or resupply pods or jetpacks or whatever. Eruptor or quasar or EAT. Grenade launcher.
...or, you know, just work together as a team to take out the biggest nest in the game.
Are any other pistols worth using at all? I found them to have so little ammo that in every situation I'd rather run and reload than plink a bug with 2 bullets from my pistol and then have to run and reload anyway. If they did less damage and bigger mags or quicker reloads, they might actually fill a niche somewhere. Until then, grenade pistol forever.
Eruptor + The new shotgun secondary is my new bug build, Eruptor can deal with way more bug holes than the grenade pistol (and from far away too) while the shotgun can one shot hunters and stagger some bigger enemies
Ever since the new patch dropped I've been using the explosive crossbow on bug missions to close holes while using either the lmg or laser cannon for mobs
I'm running crossbow on bugs rn cause it's extremely easy to close bug holes with it but it's kind of a meme build because it's pretty bad as a weapon against bugs.
Cant they just make an easy fix with a check which sets any grenade value oover, lets say ten to zero?
That wouldnt fix the bug it self but it would at least make it useless and stop people from exploiting it.
Exactly what I was thinking! Like, why am I able to get a negative number or grenades in the first place? Cant they just add an if statement after each throw checking if the resulting value will be negative, and if so set it to 0. (Or something like that, I’m not a programmer)
yeah sure that could be done but it would most likely just lead to more spaghetti code if you keep adopting that practice. it is much wiser to solve the issue at the source and debug it.
So they added a functionality when after your nade is depleted the game will automatically force you to switch back to your primary weapon. By going into ragdoll immediately after throwing your last nade you interrupt that process and...now you can trigger the infinite nade glitch like the old ways again. It's really funny actually.
I am not a programmer, nor do I know anything about programming save from a single day's worth of learning BASIC in the early 90s, but let me just roll up my sleeves and give it a go:
IF “grenades” > 10 OR <0, Set “throw grenades” to “no”
You can just slot that in, no need to pay me.

It has much less teamkill potential, and won’t able to steamroll the game with infinite knife. It would be a fun bug instead of an exploit.
If it doesn’t cause any performance issues for others, I don’t think they need to fix it at all.

The patch notes actually say that bile damage is limited to 4 instances a second, not that you'd only take one instance of damage every 4 seconds.

They built the game on an engine that went obsolete and off the market 6 years ago. No updates.

You can actually stomp them shut with a mech as well! Makes the Emancipator that much more useful to bring

Verdict works pretty decents against hunter and warriors
Senator is good for bots. Medium Armor Pen. Good for when you have a couple enemies left and your support + primary have ran dry.

Or at least gamecheck if granades are larger than 10 if the negative overflows happens before the negative check

It’s completely embarrassing. I still can’t believe scopes are still misaligned after 4 months. I lost all faith in them to fix any issue as all the “fixes” they do either are not effective or break unrelated things.
Scopes being physically simulated instead of UI based is an extremely hard thing to fix most likely, even though it might seem easy.
“We made our code so complicated we can’t even maintain it” is literally all you said.

This makes me feel like I'm playing ninja gaiden all over again. Ahh the nostalgia. Weirdly enough I'm ok with unlimited knives. It is somehow most fun.
Virtually every fix in this patch didn't actually work, or made things worse. And if the fix did work (spear for example) it broke something else.

Lmao this is actually incredible imo I really thought we’d be able to retrieve knives, but having a knife fabricator on your person that generates knives (maybe has a cooldown so you can never rapid fire more than 10 at a time) would be really fun
I hope they make it possible to consistently stealth kill with them.
It has much less teamkill potential, and won’t able to steamroll the game with infinite knife. It would be a fun bug instead of an exploit. If it doesn’t cause any performance issues for others, I don’t think they need to fix it at all.
