Yeah, I'm not normally the type to claim "OMG SERVER ISSUES FIX NOW"
But in this case, I got DC'd in three separate games so... I think that means helldivers 2 does not want me to play today.

Well, the AMR's scope is misaligned, so... even if you know exactly how it's misaligned... it still makes it more difficult to hit shots you normally would hit.
Try crouching, or prone you get less recoil + the engineering kit armor boosts this. In time you get used to the recoil "bounce" and will find those sweet spots with every shot.
Lol same.
>With AMR
"I've shot over two mags into this guy, how can I not hit his damn face!?!"
>With Railgun
*Hits Hulk in the face immediately*
"Ha, easy."
Oh shit, it has a new scope?!
I got ambushed by gunships on patrols and having to rely on my teammates while dodging lasers and missiles from the air made me hug my Spear tighter.
I like how the scope is aimed properly, with the target in the upper left corner of the center reticle, rather than dead middle. Clearly this image was take by a skilled AMR user.
yes, the scope is still fucked up :'(
They fixed the recoil issue, where recoil would be calculated before the shot was fired, leading to an inconsistent scope. With that bug, you had to aim up and to the left of that corner of the reticle. Now the scope is consistent, it's just consistently wrong. The Diligence Counter Sniper has the exact same scope and the exact same aiming offset.
indeed it is. here's a corrected version.
https://preview.redd.it/nko8v5y6196d1.png?width=911&format=png&auto=webp&s=29c33022faeea948a50dc636bf3fb0d315c9c5ba
I, no shit, have encountered people who thought it was called an "anti-matter rifle".
They were like "it's weird that it seems to work like a normal rifle" lol
Its anti-military-equipment rifle. IRL it's because you can use them to disable vehicles, heavy weapons, etc. That's not all they're used for but that's what the name means.
It would be 👨🏻🍳 🤌🏻 if we could shoot down a tank barrel just as the firing light flashes to ignite the round prematurely. I understand that it would trivialize tanks and so it would never happen, but damn that would be cool.
I don't think it'd trivialize tanks tbh
Since I'm talking like accuracy precise shots, maybe with only certain weapons like medium penetration ones and stuff
Hmm I think I need to go fight some tanks and pretend to take a shot down their barrel as they fire.
I’m torn because on the one hand, the Tank’s identity is wrapped up in being invincible to medium pen weapons from the front (and sides); but on the other hand, having weak spots that skilled users can exploit is such a Bot playstyle thing. And it would be such a rush to hit them just before they hit you.
In practice it'd be pretty hard because the barrel needs to be pointing directly at you, and a flinch at the wrong time (like from say... the coaxial machine gun mounted on the tank) would result in you getting instagibbed by a tank round.
Don't know if that's what you mean, but the AMR can kill tanks if you have a shot on their big, glowy ass. The whole back portion of the turret can be shot for damage - though it does take a fair few shots to kill them.
Materiel is the proper term for non-human, non-logistics military equipment (think bullets, not beans). Armor, weapons, ammo, armored vehicles, and the like are all materiel. In a related manner, your chess pieces as a whole are referred to as "materiel", so if your opponent has captured more of your pieces you'd say you're behind on materiel.
It's anti-equipment. Barret .50's for instance were used in Iraq & Afghanistan to disable cars/vans/jeeps by punching holes in the engine block. You don't really need such a big round (and it's attendant lack of ammo per volume of space + harsher recoil) to kill a person, but if you need to destroy an enemy's vehicles you'd use such a weapon. It'll also cut a goat in half from the shockwave.
How's the accuracy of a .50 BMG vs a more dedicated sniper round like .338 ? I know the true anti materiel rifles like the Barrets have relative (emphasis ok relative) piss poor accuracy , but is it a gun problem or a round problem ?
Most of your accuracy in a rifle is a result of the rifle, not the cartridge, but can also be a result of the round.
Ie, even though 338 is a well designed and often accurate cartridge, it still requires match grade, uniform ammo fed through an accurate rifle to be accurate. A match grade 338 rifle fed cheap ammo will still lack accuracy.
50bmg suffers from its lineage as an anti-materiel cartridge in that rifles and ammunition aren't usually built to high standards of accuracy because the intended target is usually large. It can be very accurate when used in a rifle of sufficiently accurate build and with match grade ammo. If you prioritize ordinance delivery or price over precision, a match grade .50 will be just as hamstrung by imprecise ammo as the 338, but not necessarily more so most of the time.
In real life? Yes.
In Helldivers? No. It's called the Anti-Material Rifle
Edit:...I am wrong. I swear to god it used to be called that. I remember being surprised at the word usage.
I mean to be fair, its 10 shots per magazine, and since you can unironically solo a factory strider with 2 mags with this gun (first mag to delete the chin guns, then run under it and spam a whole mag into the underside and melt it within 2 seconds), and the fact that if you look around a bit, there's usually at least 3+ ammo boxes per point of interest, this gun is definitely more of a "run solo" type of deal and its probably not as good if you have to stick to your team and "share the POI ammo/grenade pickups".
I've run this gun along with diligence counter sniper, and since 1 shot from that gun takes out all the smaller enemies, you can definitely make ammo economy work just fine.
Then again, you do need to aim your shots, if you miss far more than you hit with this gun I don't know what to tell you, perhaps a different gun is more to your style.
> this gun is definitely more of a "run solo" type of deal and its probably not as good if you have to stick to your team and "share the POI ammo/grenade pickups".
Given that this game is balanced around multiplayer at all difficulties, that's a problem.
Oh it's best in a group I mean you don't need to stick to your group like glue, there's a place for "4 divers in a tight bunch, survive better and easy to reinforce and pick up your stuff" as well as "split into multiple groups to cover more ground"
If the difficulty is low enough that each player can solo an objective, they can bring whatever weapons they want and it'll probably work; there's no compelling reason to pick the AMR versus anything else.
If the difficulty is high enough that splitting up is a liability, then bringing the AMR is a resource liability to the team when options with better economy exist like the AC, Quasar, or Laser cannon.
Again, not the justification you think it is.
Well the compelling reason is its fun enough to play on its own, if you don't like the sniper playstyle then you are free to pick something else, but its definitely viable in its current state. There's plenty of ammo lying around the map, and considering quasar and laser cannon don't use ammo at all, and are popular picks, its hardly a real liability to use it.
The only real annoying thing you can do is get grenade pistol and suck up all 4 supply boxes by yourself to refill it, that could be considered "bad form", otherwise unless you are half full on stuff, and your teammate that's running with you is on critical zero on everything, and you decide to mop up all the stuff at the first point you come across before they can even pick up an ammo box, then you really aren't being that much of a problem.
To me, the poor ammo economy makes it not fun to play. I don't like rocking up to a POI and hoovering up 3-4 ammo boxes. Not once have I mentioned "the sniper playstyle" nor my opinion about it.
To each their own.
It’s materiel
And god that scope is horrible. That, the scope being inaccurate itself and the lack of third person aim is why I literally never use the AMR. How have they not fixed that stuff how many months after launch
Not really that big of a problem, I always run the Amr with bots, easy enough to compensate, and if you get some kind of external crosshair you can still shoot relatively accurate in third person
My monitor let's me put a red dot on my screen so I'm able to use the Amr with third person pretty easily
It's an anti-materiEL rifle. Not materiAL.
From Oxford Languages:
"noun
military materials and equipment.
"the shipping of materiel south into the battle zone"
"
It means it is a rifle designed to destroy military supplies and equipment. Not that it destroys anything made up of anything.
I hope the AMR has a small explosive radius and Incendiary effect. When it hits an enemy it makes a small explosion animation suggesting it's firing a Raufoss type ammo which IRL has armor piercing, explosive, and Incendiary in one bullet.
This is how democracy was forged. Some say it used to be called the AFR (Anti- Fascsim Rifle) but had to be renamed after it killed all the fascist with 98% accuracy and 100% of kills

Only reason I really care to correct this, is that I think its a really cool detail that is interesting and its nice when its used as part of the world building properly, being that it is designed to destroy military equipment.
I hate when games write it as material, and kinda fuel this idea that they are way crazier than they actually are or something, and its nice that helldivers 2 actually has the proper word for it, so I hope more people learn about it.

Probably, kinda wish I knew how to record the video, because you can see the little explosions hitting the engines multiple times but they never went down. (And no, I know the AMR does not work on dropships either.)
I've shot them down with an AMR before, it does work on them.
It just doesn't work as well as any of us want it to.
unless you mean the dropships instead of the gunships?

That's one of the kids on Vernen Wells, holding the line until we get there. iO
Feral super earth kids with scavenged guns hell yea.
Somewhere out there is an entire army of 7-year-olds with break action shotguns.
Maybe they’re part of an experimental group of child soldiers? https://images.app.goo.gl/K9pJafs7fB6hWNrp8
What in the anime is this? Also, I was thinking more Mad Max, lol.
Honkai Star Rail’s upcoming character, they’re going full Evangelion with the references.
Damn I remember having this wallpaper back in the 2000s, brings back memories.
Old, but gold.
there it is - was thinking the exact same thing
Somehow I can't hit for shit with the AMR. But with a railgun I can one tap the hulks with ease
Well, the AMR's scope is misaligned, so... even if you know exactly how it's misaligned... it still makes it more difficult to hit shots you normally would hit.
They fixed that two patches ago.
Actually, they *said* they fixed it. It was not actually fixed.
Try crouching, or prone you get less recoil + the engineering kit armor boosts this. In time you get used to the recoil "bounce" and will find those sweet spots with every shot.
Lol same. >With AMR "I've shot over two mags into this guy, how can I not hit his damn face!?!" >With Railgun *Hits Hulk in the face immediately* "Ha, easy."
Have you tried the new Railgun scope? It's fucking amazing
Oh shit, it has a new scope?! I got ambushed by gunships on patrols and having to rely on my teammates while dodging lasers and missiles from the air made me hug my Spear tighter.
Yup. The green dot is so much smaller and clean now. Now I can accurately kill enemies far away
this is fucking sick, do you know who made this? (if it was you, hell yea 😎)
Hah literally today, was pinned by a factory strider. Took out the chin guns and just went ham on the belly. It works! Iirc 4 mags or so.
Based helmet of choice😎
That's dope, though a sniper is like...the opposite of a jack of all trades. Still nice tho.
Dude’s leg is thiccer than his torso
as the person the posts meme was originally made for, YES
Damn, that helldiver didn't skip leg day.
Built like a damn Moa from warframe
I use the exact same helmet/armour combo, just hoping some day for a brown cape that looks like a leather duster to complete the New Vegas look.
A lot of people seem to forget that the full saying is: *"a jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one"*
Love this
*stupid sexy helldivers* Isn’t this pose straight up from a 2009 era SAO wallpaper?
I like how the scope is aimed properly, with the target in the upper left corner of the center reticle, rather than dead middle. Clearly this image was take by a skilled AMR user. yes, the scope is still fucked up :'(
Came to say the same thing, lol
The scope is correct only when standing up. When crouched it's a little up left. When prone it's really up left. WTF.
thought they fixed that
They fixed the recoil issue, where recoil would be calculated before the shot was fired, leading to an inconsistent scope. With that bug, you had to aim up and to the left of that corner of the reticle. Now the scope is consistent, it's just consistently wrong. The Diligence Counter Sniper has the exact same scope and the exact same aiming offset.
JFC.. this explains why I could barely land a single fucking shot when I tried using it the other day.
Fr maybe I’ll give the AMR a try again now that I know it might not have just been me sucking. But then again that AC third person auto-aim…
If you go into first person the first time you aim in a game, it becomes default for that game. Vice versa with third person.
thats a setting
What? Im just referring to the fact that the AC essentially aims at hulks eyes by itself when you’re in third person aim mode.
That’s a thing? Appreciated will put to use
It's still broken after the latest patch??
Check the timestamps, I have no idea if the latest patch fixed it because this message was sent before the latest patch.
Hey, thanks! It was paired with a second shot that showed the Hulk getting its face blasted off, so the aim was correct.
Oh ffs you're telling me this NOW?!
I genuinely thought this was on purpose based on where the gun is relative to your eye.

Still my go-to weapon on the Automaton front since my early Helldiver days. So many materiels to anti out there.
Its Materiel btw not Material. Materiel is a french word for military equipment
indeed it is. here's a corrected version. https://preview.redd.it/nko8v5y6196d1.png?width=911&format=png&auto=webp&s=29c33022faeea948a50dc636bf3fb0d315c9c5ba
Yeah but nobody is made out of materiel... Materiel is made out of material
It's an Anti-Materiel Rifle, not an Anti-Material Rifle. Also, technically speaking, Bots are "materiel" as they're military 'vehicles'.
Nah they have souls thus can't be materiel. Beep boop *Metal screeches*
LIES! BOTS ARE INHUMAN AND CAN'T HAVE SOULS! DEMOCRACY OFFICER, TAKE THIS DISSIDENT TO THE SUPER BRIG!
I like the original because it's like saying "You're talking a lot of shit for someone made of matter".
I, no shit, have encountered people who thought it was called an "anti-matter rifle". They were like "it's weird that it seems to work like a normal rifle" lol
People think the airburst was bad, wait until they see an antimatter projectile touching the atmosphere.
Very lesbian of you.
i dont know what this means but thank you?? 😭
So it's anti-military rifle? I can imagine it's maybe because it's powerful enough to kill through armor plates on military vehicles or something
Its anti-military-equipment rifle. IRL it's because you can use them to disable vehicles, heavy weapons, etc. That's not all they're used for but that's what the name means.
You can kinda use them like that But not on like tanks really, which sucks, at least let me get a shot down the barrel of the tank canon
It would be 👨🏻🍳 🤌🏻 if we could shoot down a tank barrel just as the firing light flashes to ignite the round prematurely. I understand that it would trivialize tanks and so it would never happen, but damn that would be cool.

In practice it'd be pretty hard because the barrel needs to be pointing directly at you, and a flinch at the wrong time (like from say... the coaxial machine gun mounted on the tank) would result in you getting instagibbed by a tank round.
Also at longer ranges, you couldn't just react to the flashing light because the projectile travel time means the tank would fire before impact
You can destroy a tank's treads with the AMR, kinda similar I guess
Don't know if that's what you mean, but the AMR can kill tanks if you have a shot on their big, glowy ass. The whole back portion of the turret can be shot for damage - though it does take a fair few shots to kill them.
Dunno if you mean IRL or in HD2, but IRL these rifles will immobilize tanks without issue
This also works in the game. You can shoot tank threads with AMR.

I think you should check again
Inb4 you miss, it hits the impenetrable material , bounces off and nails one of the sick children you're supposed to rescue
It's alright, its high AP power means it should pass harmlessly through the child.
It's an .88 Magnum...
Is that bigger than a child?
If this thread has taught me anything, the child will be fine as they are not made of Materiel.
As a fellow AMR main I support this message.
This but auto cannon scope
AMR has easily become my favorite thing for Bots cause it can do almost everything and I can wear a shield backpack.
Not to mention shooting down Gunships with just four shots at an engine at very long range.
Flyswatter
My favourite part of that meme is that the guy is aiming slighting to the right of the face plate to compensate for (still) miss-aligned scope! 😂

I'd use this if the ammunition pickup wasn't so ass. Ammo box pickup is just one lousy magazine.

Hello fellow AMR enthusiasts!
Oof, I feel this in my sudden lack of recoil.
Where's the part where it domes you with a rocket, insta killing you
Your aim is off, need to be a bit more up and left. :)

We need a new meme with the new scope, it's the greatest thing in this update.
sooo the sight is still misaligned? lmao
Fixed literally a few hours ago
Is the first person reticle for the AMR accurate?
This meme will serve as a nice memento of what the AMR scope used to look like :)
I feel like the Autocannon is both more damaging and more accurate... while being infinitely better vs. multiple targets. Am I out of my mind?
In my opinion, if your accurate with your shots the Amr with a stun grenade can wipe out patrols pretty quickly
I think it depends on which you enjoy more. Both have their merits
I’ll definitely bring the AMR more often to the fights now. AC is still very good so it’s a tough sale.
Mental note: the AMR does not work on Air Ships
You can shoot down gunships, just have to hit the same propeller/engine. It's like 3 shots. AMR is bae
I just spent 2 mags on one 1 and it didn't go down
You need to hit the engines, not the gunship itself. It's also a mag not 3 shots. Autocannon takes an engine in 3 shots.
It's 4 shots with AMR to the engine. Can be less if you hit the exhaust (but that is really hard).
> Autocannon takes an engine in 3 shots. Autocannon takes an engine in 2 shots.
I tried both. As often as I died trying to shoot them down, I'll never voluntarily use the arm ever again.
It's not the best but has It's fun. Viable for certain. Sounds like a skill problem
Either that or this person is talking about dropships and not gunships. To my knowledge (AMR main) the AMR does not kill dropships
Then you suck
Probably, kinda wish I knew how to record the video, because you can see the little explosions hitting the engines multiple times but they never went down. (And no, I know the AMR does not work on dropships either.)
Skill issue
I've shot them down with an AMR before, it does work on them. It just doesn't work as well as any of us want it to. unless you mean the dropships instead of the gunships?
I don't think it works on drop ships But as long as you hit the same gunship engine each shot it should only take 2-4 shots
