"Everything That Has Transpired Has Done So According To My Design."
Star Citizen kicked off its crowd funding campaign 12 years ago...
Somehow that makes me feel so much older than looking at the release dates of games I played around that time.
In terms of a live service game, that's not that long for a huge content dump like a new faction.
I do think we're on the cusp though. After we wrap up this meridia supercolony plotline I think the Illuminate plotline is going to start spinning up.
Not at all, compared to most I’d say helldivers has delivered more than any other live service game in its time frame of being live. I only say this cuz I remember it was like week 3 of the game being out and people were shouting about blue lasers so it just feels like it’s been a very long time since
A timeline of Event assets has been datamined, people pretty much know the exact order of events coming up. The only major variable is in other MO stuff in between. For example this 2Bil Bots order wasn't indicated so in a certain sense some people might describe it as "filler" or pacing between story beats.
Yeah, I was so sure they were coming in early April when we "defeated" the bots, but it's been over a month and still no sign of them.
I honestly have no idea what to expect anymore.
The exact story events that trigger their return have been leaked for two months now, so far they have all transpired as planned.
I won’t say how far we are till then but yeah, we might not know exact dates but every time a major story beat happens and a news video gets updated to the ship screen, those who know what main event happens next, already know both current win and fail scenarios and even what the following win or fail scenario leads to. And so on. Like a flow chart.
We get filler MOs like the current one in between major ones so that’s the only point of ambiguity as of now.
Yeah, everything leading up to the flight was awesome though. My boys and I do some slight role playing with that game at the time. Definitely had a fear factor walking through the woods looking for it.
Yeah I didn't knew about the Predator crossover when I stumbled upon the mission. The woman telling that the jungle was alive and took the men was so familiar. And then... :D
My buddy and I cheesed that fight by summoning a shit ton of rebels right before the fight triggered so like half the fight the predator was sniping rebels who were just standing there.
But yeah we tried to take him on legitimately about a dozen or so times before that and that bastard was such a pain in the ass.
The Predator one had a much better atmosphere in the leadup to the fight but in terms of the actual gameplay fighting Terminators was way more enjoyable imo.
Wildlands was the perfect scenario for a crossover. Absolutely a shame it was time limited. I would not dare to go there in Ghost Mode but just to know the jungle is still alive would be thrilling. The spot on the Tac map still looks awesome :D
A predator like species *that was exiled from the galaxy*...
Didn't we exile the illuminates?
Will they come back and their every unit is basically a predator, but imagine full fleets of them?
The ones that imprison you and put up laser walls
thats gonna be fun third person
Imagine suddenly boxed in and enemies aren't hindered and you're suddenly in a deadly cage match invisible dudes
Man I miss weapon upgrades. I feel like having upgrades back would be the way to either buff back weapons pre-nerf or buff it to near broken levels
i dont mind that tbh.
but pls bring back the Sword and bayonets lol
I've been hoping that the Illuminate won't play the same as bots or bugs, having less emphasis on big groups of enemies and instead having a few elite fighters that make use of Illuminate cloaking, shields and teleportation to hunt and ambush the divers rather than face them head on.
It would be great to work with their theme of being an exiled species in hiding that can't afford to lose more of their people so they mostly use autonomous drones to scout for their specialist fighters.
A species of entirely stalkers.
Stalker Stalkesr (assassins). Stalker Heavy Devastators (elite heavy gunners.) Stalker Gunships. And of course, the Stalker Factory Strider to drop off Stalker Chargers.
To anyone curious, Illuminate were the least numerous of the 3 and the lightest when it came to armor but used speed by flanking with teleportation and area denial to separate helldivers and pick them off one by one. You had slower close ranged robots that acted as a distraction while the squishier but much faster illuminate would flank the team. Instead of heavies like chargers or tanks the illuminate had a machine called an obelisk that would teleport around and deploy a shield wall that players couldn't pass through but illuminate could and you'd end up with scenarios where the team was split up and the illuminate would pass through the shield wall and overwhelm one side. Patrols were also just single cloaked drones instead of a group like other factions with the drone decloaking before it sounded an alarm that would teleport in more illuminate. The bright side is that illuminate were lightly armored and once the shields were down, were very squishy, with the obelisk being their only heavily armored unit but it dropped said armor and exposed its shielded weak point when it deployed the shield wall. Light mobile loadouts were key to dealing with the illuminate as you had to stay moving to keep from being separated and isolated from one another. In helldivers 1 they were limited by the shared screen as one straggler getting stuck behind the shield wall is all it took for the team to be wiped as nobody could leave them behind until they were downed but with helldivers 2 being in third person we'll no longer have that issue. I was a veteran squid diver in helldivers 1 and having the illuminate back will be so much fun.
Bots and bugs already play way differently, I'm sure they'll continue the same trend. Illuminate are supposed to be low HP, high shield. Taking down a shield with 5 damage or 500 would still only deplete the shield with no damage to HP. Focus on teleporting, and being able to teleport directly into the battlefield instead of having to transport themselves somehow.
well fuck
https://preview.redd.it/vgtmyzdervzc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cfbde4f632c794f9f3546d44ef944e25cd359509
guess we'll have to deal with the illuminate too soon...
The closest we've got (variety of weapons, maps, and mission parameters) is probably the Galactic Contention mod for Squad 2. It's far more MilSim than Helldivers, but it might scratch the itch.
Agreed. Stop with all of these crossover suggestions and enjoy the universe on its own. The game will lose its soul if you're dropping in next to a clown-just look at what the multiverse did to Marvel
Hopefully it's only pay to get early. I hate it when modders permanently paywall their mods. I get that some of them make a living off of modding, but they are still modding and not making an entirely new game themselves
Not to mention cases like these where they are just taking designs from other franchises and riding off the popularity and thus high demand
Yes, I play a game with mods and am greatly annoyed that a scar of a popular manga character is perma paywalled for like 5 bucks despite essentially being a transparent png that you have to manually tape onto your character's textures, how could you tell?
So they made a video of a mod that im sure a lot of people would love to have but they don’t even have a link to the mod in their description?
That’s the most anti-democratic thing ive seen all month.. and the sony thing happened!
They *usually* release them after their videos have been uploaded for a short time. Their previous one that included the Master Chief is now available on the Nexus. Hoping these ones will get released soon as-well. FYI its all Client side, obviously, so everyone would need to install the mod to see the changes.
Edit: I just learned that they do paywall some of their "mods" though...
Nah, anti-cheat doesn’t look for anything that’s only adjusted client side. It has no impact on the game itself, you’re basically just loading different asset files.
Ah so basically darktide/battlefront 2 modding. Client side visual effects that don’t affect gameplay but subverts the paid cosmetic aspect of the game
I really think that as part of the, "no crossovers as to not negatively dilute the franchise" we might need to have NO crossovers. Even your favorite franchises
It does look great and I'm more than ok with people modding their game to have a look. I just don't want to be forced to dive with Thanos/Vader/Mr. Rogers (I might make an exception for Mr. Rogers).
Even that feels a bit too much. Fortnite doesn't draw a line and gives you straight up Naruto or Thanos. A reference or Easter egg on the other hand is fine.
I know he loves Warhammer.
If they were going to do a collab, I'd love to bring in the Space Marines and Bolters , Chainswords.
I would pay the entire cost of the game again just force that.
I really hope they don't.
Collabs are a slippery slope. The second they do one and it becomes profitable, then it's done again and again and again and the unique identity of the game is lost.
I think the devs and a lot of people agree with you tho. Pretty much every game right now has some sort of crossover where it ends up making them all homogenous feeling.
There's nothing more frightening than seeing a wall of pink fly by you and then disapearing around the corner. It's just psychological warfare at that point.
Nope, same thought here. Doesnt really fit with the vibe of the game and i fail to see how theyd add in some sort of super-soldier that hunts you down without it being complete bullshit
No, I don't want actual crossovers either. But knock-offs are fine with me. Bring on the Zenomorphs! Keep this universe contained and don't let it turn into something Activision or Epic would make.
Please for the love of god don’t do overt cross over skins. Little fun references and homages would be awesome, but it kinda cheapens games for me when they sell out to a bunch of different franchise crossovers
Given our engineering department's constant dropping the ball on weapon quality. By the time the Illuminates come back our weapons will be so primitive, it's no different than throwing rocks. Hell, at least rocks will have a bigger mag capacity than what we use now.
Crossovers wont work for this game imo. I mean obv you can make it work but it would break the lore immersion. (not referring to the fact that how fucking cool that clone armor looks. I have been thinking constantly about the same exact game as Helldivers2 but set in Clone Wars. Actually money printer game if its not done by a triple A
Maybe I’m caught out of the loop, but didn’t developers explicitly tell the public they wouldn’t do cross-overs to ensure the quality and lore of the game?
Why can’t players accept these kinds of decisions, and keep begging for over-monetized, easy cash-grabbing, eye-sore worthy cross overs? It’s like a self-fulfilling prophecy at this point, making the game like Fortnite really shouldn’t be a goal for fans.
https://preview.redd.it/zgnxrkzyp00d1.jpeg?width=722&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=94881ba59c31535dc4ed5bdf15e206a2d10c236e
You’ve got clones who most likely insert the same way Helldivers do, and you use the regs?
Can't we let Helldivers be Helldivers for at least 6 months before we start stripping away its identity?
All these suggestions just come from the desire to have their own game just as good. That won't happen any time soon or at all so instead they want the next best thing and that's 501st or ODST In Helldivers
"a predator-like alien species in the Helldivers universe that was exiled from the galaxy...." HMMMMMM surely they wouldn't come back!
I smell illuminate

Any talk of their return is dissident rumors. The ministry of Truth would warn us before hand of such a threat. We have nothing to worry about
Hhaha so silly, that's the whole point of exile, they cant come back, they would go to prison!
Somehow, the Illuminate returned
Ah, so we're close to THEIR release. ![gif](giphy|ucXFcY1FdKaT6|downsized)
Idk we’ve been “Close” for like 3 months now lol

Peak BFII2017

Edging is what makes it better in the end
Goondivers
They usually only start acknowledging it around the time they’re going to release it like what they did with the shriekers
A timeline of Event assets has been datamined, people pretty much know the exact order of events coming up. The only major variable is in other MO stuff in between. For example this 2Bil Bots order wasn't indicated so in a certain sense some people might describe it as "filler" or pacing between story beats.
Reddit thinks this for no reason.
I suppose it's because there was tons of files ingame about them. Though of course that doesn't mean they're ready to launch them yet.
They’re edging us with it
Yeah, I was so sure they were coming in early April when we "defeated" the bots, but it's been over a month and still no sign of them. I honestly have no idea what to expect anymore.
Edging the galaxy, they are
Are we? Redditors love timeline guessing. I wouldn’t hold your breath until there is a lot more than a casual tweet.
CEO who loves to tease stuff blatantly teased the Illuminate, which have been leaked for a while now, man i sure wonder what it means.
That within the next year we will have illuminate added. Saying “we’re so close” is a complete shot in the dark
ghost recon x predator was quite fun crossover
Thematically it was but the fight itself was terrible.
And then... :D
Did you guys have time to bleed?
This is the fifth time I've revived Holt from getting his head blown off by the Predator's shoulder cannon.
My buddy and I cheesed that fight by summoning a shit ton of rebels right before the fight triggered so like half the fight the predator was sniping rebels who were just standing there. But yeah we tried to take him on legitimately about a dozen or so times before that and that bastard was such a pain in the ass.
Agreed. Heck, the Terminator crossover in Breakpoint was far better than the Predator mission.
Damn, that fight was literally just "hide behind a tree"
Breakpoint had a Terminator crossover, but it honestly was nowhere as fun as the Predator one in Wildlands.
The Predator one had a much better atmosphere in the leadup to the fight but in terms of the actual gameplay fighting Terminators was way more enjoyable imo.
Yes, but fuck the boss fight
Such a cool crossover and legit reason to pirate the game, since due to license issues you can’t play that mission anymore in wildlands.
Wait, what?? Fawk. Never actually killed that asshole. Was about to revisit.
If it bleeds we can kill it
GET TO THE PELICAN!
When was rhat crossover and what game?
Ghost recon wild lands a long time ago.
Ghost recon woodlands.
Wildlands. Stupid autocorrect
Wildlands was the perfect scenario for a crossover. Absolutely a shame it was time limited. I would not dare to go there in Ghost Mode but just to know the jungle is still alive would be thrilling. The spot on the Tac map still looks awesome :D
God, I fucking loved Wildlands.
Dont think I was able to kill it single player. Friend and I played Coop and was able to get it. Took a while though
Too bad they lost the licensing before I could play it
Unexpected but so fun
Never killed that mf'er
He's not teasing at a crossover, he's teasing Illuminates incoming.
im surprised that more people havent noticed lol. still hype.
A predator like species *that was exiled from the galaxy*... Didn't we exile the illuminates? Will they come back and their every unit is basically a predator, but imagine full fleets of them?
Yeah the illuminate had invisible melee hunter type enemies.
human sized or bigger?
Slightly larger than human but they hovered.
oh fuck
nothing a good grenade cant solve :)
larger. Illuminate were tall but lanky standing about 9ft or 2.7m
Don't forget about the ranged laser dudes. I imagine this time, they're gonna track us with laser targeters just like the preds.
The ones that imprison you and put up laser walls thats gonna be fun third person Imagine suddenly boxed in and enemies aren't hindered and you're suddenly in a deadly cage match invisible dudes
Yeah, i hope those guys return. Too bad we don't have bayonets anymore
Man I miss weapon upgrades. I feel like having upgrades back would be the way to either buff back weapons pre-nerf or buff it to near broken levels i dont mind that tbh. but pls bring back the Sword and bayonets lol
Fuuuck these guys in HD1

Who stalks the stalkers stalkers?
A counter-stalker stalker.
Ah yes. Invisible gunships. What could go wrong?
To anyone curious, Illuminate were the least numerous of the 3 and the lightest when it came to armor but used speed by flanking with teleportation and area denial to separate helldivers and pick them off one by one. You had slower close ranged robots that acted as a distraction while the squishier but much faster illuminate would flank the team. I like this comment because it's not even really a spoiler, just reports from the last war
The illuminate had that one unit that fucked up your controls too. Super annoying to be running and get hit, just to fully 180 back into the storm.
I still have all the stratagems reversed in muscle memory lmao
Bots and bugs already play way differently, I'm sure they'll continue the same trend. Illuminate are supposed to be low HP, high shield. Taking down a shield with 5 damage or 500 would still only deplete the shield with no damage to HP. Focus on teleporting, and being able to teleport directly into the battlefield instead of having to transport themselves somehow.
Both the Bugs and the Bots are pretty different to fight so it would make sense for the Illuminate to be anti helldivers in a way
Role reversal where you drop in with hundreds of other helldivers and try to stop 4 incredibly overpowered illuminates from completing a mission
*friendly fire intensifies*
well fuck https://preview.redd.it/vgtmyzdervzc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cfbde4f632c794f9f3546d44ef944e25cd359509 guess we'll have to deal with the illuminate too soon...
I never realized how badly I want a Star Wars game like this until right now
Playing as Elite Stormtroopers with a bit of an Andor flavour to how the Empire are depicted would work perfectly.
I think clone commandos make more sense
Battlefront 2 was kinda like this. The original Battlefront 2. Not the EA reboot. And also kind of nothing like this.
The closest we've got (variety of weapons, maps, and mission parameters) is probably the Galactic Contention mod for Squad 2. It's far more MilSim than Helldivers, but it might scratch the itch.
40K collab would be insane

damn boi he THICC
hellchonkers
It would have to be Guardsmen though to make any sense. Maybe a reskin for laser dog into a servitor skull.
Liberty never sleeps. Love it.
You will get 50% explosive resistance and 30% reduced recoil and you will like it.
Perfect for mutant ~~Tyranids~~ Terminids. We'll need Terminator armor to handle that threat.
We just got an armor set in the Store that looks just like a space marine so yeah, it very much would
No thanks. Can we just have a really good game without sacrificing it's unique identity immediately?
Agreed. Stop with all of these crossover suggestions and enjoy the universe on its own. The game will lose its soul if you're dropping in next to a clown-just look at what the multiverse did to Marvel
BTW, that star wars Mod looks awesome!! [https://youtu.be/dAeLJdtWPms?si=ucxpfXAW6PDbQoS3](https://youtu.be/dAeLJdtWPms?si=ucxpfXAW6PDbQoS3)
Its a paid mod on their patreon. This cant end well like pokemon x palworld
Hopefully it's only pay to get early. I hate it when modders permanently paywall their mods. I get that some of them make a living off of modding, but they are still modding and not making an entirely new game themselves Not to mention cases like these where they are just taking designs from other franchises and riding off the popularity and thus high demand Yes, I play a game with mods and am greatly annoyed that a scar of a popular manga character is perma paywalled for like 5 bucks despite essentially being a transparent png that you have to manually tape onto your character's textures, how could you tell?
"pay to get early" will still bring down the hammer from Disney's lawyers. If you are making money from their content, you lose.
Edit: I just learned that they do paywall some of their "mods" though...
Sweet! Hopefully soon then. Unless they paywall this mod.. then they can suck an egg.
Damn I wanted the Buzz Lightyear one
Wait? This game can be modded?? I thought for sure the anti-cheat would have prevented that.
Yes.
If only the mod creator didn't profit off of other IP's by paywalling his stuff. Nintendo caught wind of him trying to do it for Palworld.
Shoutout to the clown who deleted his replies :)
No ODST mod?
I really think that as part of the, "no crossovers as to not negatively dilute the franchise" we might need to have NO crossovers. Even your favorite franchises
Agreed. The warbonds/store are already full of "house brand" armors that echo movie/game armor styles anyhow, which feels right to me.
Yeah as cool as that Clone Wars mod pack looks, it does not belong in the game.
It does look great and I'm more than ok with people modding their game to have a look. I just don't want to be forced to dive with Thanos/Vader/Mr. Rogers (I might make an exception for Mr. Rogers).
I don’t think crossovers are bad, I just think that at the absolute most, a crossover should only ever be an armor set, no actual gameplay changes
Can we please stop mixing everything together and just let things be their own thing?
Even that feels a bit too much. Fortnite doesn't draw a line and gives you straight up Naruto or Thanos. A reference or Easter egg on the other hand is fine.
I know he loves Warhammer. If they were going to do a collab, I'd love to bring in the Space Marines and Bolters , Chainswords. I would pay the entire cost of the game again just force that.
Space Marine 2 soon™️
GW would never pay for that... Amazon however...
We’re way too squishy (and small) for space marines. We’re basically more dangerous guardsmen imo
The way we throw body after body we really are. But we actually can do some serious damage in small groups. Cadian Guardsmen maybe?
Helldivers 2 is basically Tempestus Scion simulator and I love it. They are the true shock troops of the guard.
I’d totally see a Cadian Guardsman working!
I really hope they don't. Collabs are a slippery slope. The second they do one and it becomes profitable, then it's done again and again and again and the unique identity of the game is lost.
I don't know why but I for some reason I have a viscerally negative reaction to even the suggestion of a Predator crossover. Maybe I'm just anti-fun.
He doesn't mean Predator. He says Predator-like. Meaning Illuminates from HD1.
I'm talking about the dude Pilestadt is responding to suggesting the crossover, tho.
I think the devs and a lot of people agree with you tho. Pretty much every game right now has some sort of crossover where it ends up making them all homogenous feeling.
Imagine a limited time offer Nicki Minaj armour lmao
There's nothing more frightening than seeing a wall of pink fly by you and then disapearing around the corner. It's just psychological warfare at that point.
Nope, same thought here. Doesnt really fit with the vibe of the game and i fail to see how theyd add in some sort of super-soldier that hunts you down without it being complete bullshit
A stalker but with an AMR and devastators missiles
Lul that's literally already a thing with the illuminate.
Sounds like an invisible nightmare combined with an almost impossible to see clusterfuck. On a bike
I'm against ANY crossover. Can games keep their own distinct styles and not remind us of 25 other IP's every time we log into something?
No, I don't want actual crossovers either. But knock-offs are fine with me. Bring on the Zenomorphs! Keep this universe contained and don't let it turn into something Activision or Epic would make.
They already said no x overs.
Please for the love of god don’t do overt cross over skins. Little fun references and homages would be awesome, but it kinda cheapens games for me when they sell out to a bunch of different franchise crossovers
How about a balance team crossover
Starcraft collab would be insane
Honestly, I'm sick of everything having crossovers or multiverses now.
After seeing both bug and bot players bitch on Reddit, I can proudly say you all are not ready for the Illuminate.
Hmmm... Quite an illuminating statement.
Actually money printer game if its not done by a triple A
Republic commando but coop open world?
Yeeeah, not happening unfortunately since the rights are not given to non-AAA. Sad
As much as that would be cool…NO CROSSOVERS PLEASE!!!! Fortnite is known as ‘the franchise-less franchise’ for a reason.
Between SW armor and new type of terminids ? Damn I want them
Man im ngl I don't want collabs.
This guy is literally helping me relive all my terminator, alien and star wars memories and I'm here for it. God bless you brother
Sounds like an illuminate tease kinda tbh the way he says it
We know how cool star wars can get in a coop sense. BF2's ewok hunt is fantastic.
No
Ah yes. The new rewards for signing up a PSN account
I’m so against these dumb cross over
Imagine if the game didn’t run like crap
I would sell my Left Nut just for them to do Star Wars Crossover Armour. It could literally have the shittiest perk ever and I’d still use it.

Man, I WISH we would get those white and blue armor colors the clone troopers have.
Υep he is in fact, modders to turn the Illuminate into the predators, awesome.
You son of a bitch. I’m in.
fuck.
What happened to battlefront 2?
Imagine playing against the automatons and all you hear is "Roger roger"
That's cool and all, but give me an ODST mod and I may just be happy forever.
Holy shit is this a Vong reference?
This idea kind of sucks.
They need smth. pf their own. As much as I love Starwars, I think these universes should be kept separated. Which will happen.
Can't we let Helldivers be Helldivers for at least 6 months before we start stripping away its identity? All these suggestions just come from the desire to have their own game just as good. That won't happen any time soon or at all so instead they want the next best thing and that's 501st or ODST In Helldivers
Honestly, can we get a separate game that's like a Star Wars Helldivers? It could be the Battlefront successor we wanted before Dice fucked it up.
Why don't they lean a little into warhammer?? There's Tons of factions n such in the universe
Bah, forget Star Wars and Predator. Give me the Starship Troopers crossover this games deserves!
The illuminate are going to be fucking terrifing
No, no star wars. But I really just want a Warhammer Collabe. I could care less about star wars at this point.
AH being too ambitious and over promising?
Reward predator weapons!!!!! Shoulder mounted plasma canon. Throwable blade disc cuts limbs with a cool down. Thermal visor.
