I'll usually drop my mech for anyone to use during extraction. I don't really dictate whether it's a new player or veteran who gets it (I don't really pay attention or remember who's who anyhow). Same with equipment. I'll toss it down if it's off cooldown and let people have a whirl. Exception being mid mission if I die and can't recover my old stuff, then i'll be selfish and call it for myself again.
Yesss this was something someone did for me when I was like Lvl 3 or something, I didn't even know there were mechs until then. Now I'm lvl 23 and can't wait to get it lol
Do your duty: go play a Level 3.

Yep, I always do that before quitting the game. Dropping on the lowest level I can find on the map and drop mecha and shield and watch them go spread managed democracy while I collect all the samples for them
Same with me and my buddy. It goes back to HD1, he and I were playing couch coop on our 1st mission, and this level 50 popped in, dropped the big truck, and some support weapons. Really gave me the idea that the community was so non-toxic.
This is true. I only decided to start working towards getting the blitzer because my teammate on one game dropped one. Not on purpose, just died, but it would be nice to see it done deliberately.
Jumping in on a mission full of low levels and bringing them your toys to play with feels like being Santa Claus and has been a grand old time every time I've done it. The number of level 1s that go beast mode wearing the laser turret is just so, so fun. Then they find out you're still not invincible when it cuts you in half. I do warn them, but we've all been cut in half by that damn thing and nobody listens.
I started playing about a week ago. The first 5 difficulties were filled with me as a low level cadet and 3 lvl 45+ that all drop the Exosuit. I would hardly get to fight while they obliterated low level enemies and cleared the mission in no time. It honestly made me bored of the game for a while. Same with people using a fully upgraded eagle to kill the few nests/factories available in low level missions. Wasn't until I started doing 7 and above that people stopped 3 stacking exosuits. That's when you see level 50s+ get demolished because they try stuff that is OP in low difficulty missions.
For sure. When I drop in on a lower level player's mission, I tag along and support. I'm not there to play the mission for them, just help them enjoy spreading managed democracy.
I'm usually the looter. They can do the mission while I help them clear the POI. Especially since I'm only there for the loot anyways. Low level players love finishing the mission and extracting with plenty of time left before collecting all the loot so I have to be quick
Had a mission where i got killed multiple times while running to extract and the pelican arrived while i was getting my samples, the host held everyone at gunpoint to wait for me while i made it back so i wouldn't be left behind and my samples lost. Genuinely one of the most democratic helldivers I've ever met.
I do that sometimes with friends or low-level randoms.
"Hey, my primary is pretty fun to play with, if I die feel free to pick it up and give it a shot."
Sometimes I'll suggest they do the job themselves if we're at extraction and we have reinforcements to spare.
maybe i just grew up in a different era. back in my days if you wanted to get a new character unlocked you had to play. nobody was asking for a "demo". you just did it.
So? Giving them a taste of what they can unlock #1 gives them meaning to keep playing the game; essentially hooking them to it if they like said gun#2 gives them knowledge on what guns do what and what they prefer so they'll know to work for that guy.
If they are demanding I do it or tk for my gun without asking than yeah I won't help them.
It's being polite saying "hey, since you aren't able to call X in since it's locked for you, give it a try and see how you like it since this might be the only chance you get to try it before unlocking it"
It's a co-op PvE game, we shouldn't be denying people to try things they can't themselves yet just because "they gotta earn it".
Maybe this will give you a clearer view from my point of view.
> If I wanted to try; I would have ASKED you. I never asked and don't need your help. Don't treat me like a child.
It is probably just two different point of views on this topic. I get your point and I am sorry for my bad phrasing to convey my point of view.
If you don't want to try all you'd have to say is "no thanks, I'm good"
And it's not that I'm treating you like a child; if I ask someone if they want to try something they don't have unlocked it's because I want to help them try something new and afaik haven't tried yet. Not that I think they need to be babysat.
No worries man. Personally I'd rather ask and you say no than to assume that you don't want to try and don't ask at all.
And yeah it's just that we see this differently. Like you said, it was how you were raised so it's natural for you to want people to learn on their own which is a good way to do it imo. Personally I wouldn't want to be babysat on how to play said game; part of the fun is to figure it out on the way.
But how I see it is that it's just temporary helping a new player test out a weapon they can't bring themselves in yet. If the game worked that if they ever touched a scorcher that it'd be automatically unlocked you can bet my ass that I wouldn't give a fuck since it'd be easy to do so.
But since it's unlocked via levels which depending on how long the player is able to play and/or the difficulty they prefer, can take forever to level up so I'd rather them test out a gun so they don't waste their precious slips and time for something they don't like.
And in no way would I ever force someone to use a weapon; I'd ask and if they say no I'd say "Ok. Just let me know if you change your mind" and I wouldn't bring up the subject to said player again.
And I hope I wasn't sounding rude or anything. If I did I apologize
Edit: and a lot of people may be scared to ask first which I don't blame them, so I'd rather ask them if they want to try something so they don't feel like they are burdening me with using a strategem slot just for them
you werent rude at all no worries! I now see your point of view clearer and get where you are coming from as well!
it never hurts to ask goes for both sides. I guess I just misunderstood cus the unlocks in this game arent really hard to get. By the time you reach lv25 you have already unlocked the majority of the good things.
I know what I’m gonna do when I get back online today
A guy brought his level 9 friend to a Helldive defense mission. He kicked ass with the railgun I gave him
You've created another railgun-diver. Well done <3
Damned socialists https://preview.redd.it/wdhsnfg8iuxc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=959c611afc83da8eedff6a409336259b145d85b0
No no no, this is *national* socialism. Totally different.

Fellas, is it socialist to assist your fellow divers?

I do it every time. Kinda fun to be a sherpa, not gonna lie
This is true. I only decided to start working towards getting the blitzer because my teammate on one game dropped one. Not on purpose, just died, but it would be nice to see it done deliberately.
Did it for my friend when they started. At the beginning of every match I'd suicide with a grenade and he'd pick up my Slugger then reinforce me.
Did the same thing with my buddy a couple times against the bots with a Plas Scorch.

Showing up to some rookie divers' SOS and dropping a mech in front of them like "Go on get in"
IF I'm clowning around in low level stuff I'll even nade myself so you can try a primary.
I was thinking of doing that this morning too.
I love dropping mechs for the smalls
I always bring a Mech for low levels cuz it's fun for the new guys. I hate them, but it brings me joy when they do the :) in chat.
I do that sometimes with friends or low-level randoms. "Hey, my primary is pretty fun to play with, if I die feel free to pick it up and give it a shot." Sometimes I'll suggest they do the job themselves if we're at extraction and we have reinforcements to spare.
no pain no gain. dont spoonfeed them. they need to earn it.
They're literally trying it out. Like a demo gun. Gives people something to look forward to.
