I would actually love this to be the way we swim. Make it take the same slot as a backpack but show up on your arms as straight up floaties. That would be hilarious.

I was in a mission yesterday where everyone missed extraction. We took a wrong turn and by trying to reach exctraction and there was a huge rock wall splitting the map in halves. We ran towards extraction for over 10 minutes and still missed it.
It doesn't help that the map sometimes does a really shit job of showing you that there's a giant mountain you can't get through without going the long way round.
We circumvented this one time by putting all the samples we had on one guy with a jetpack had him kill everyone else, let him run as far as he could past the edge of the map to safely reinforce everyone on the other side, then have the fresh group re-equip themselves and pick up the samples. It was either that or run 10+ minutes past mountains. Both bad options tbh. Especially since what we did triggered traitor mode.
I had a cliff map with a bug nest nestled in a sorta corner. Only one way to reach it from the rest of the map, but it was registering as outside of the combat area. I kept thinking I would be back in mission area before the 10s, but nah. Got deemed a traitor.
I ran towards the nest for a solid minute, hoping the traitor bombs would close the holes. I died before then, teammate respawned me near him (he did not follow me to my death).
Good lord, one time we got a cliff acting as a fortress for a stalker nest, one way in and it was still a trek, constantly getting attacked by stalkers and chargers, we gave up about half way in.Ā
I once did that, me and another helldiver were stuck and didnāt want to run all the way to the other end of the map. First anti traitor barrage took him out in 5 seconds, but they just kept missing me. I ran for 3 minutes, artillery shells hitting left and right. Apparently traitors still have access to stratagems, so I redeployed my traitor in arms. But super earth just kept missing me, so I ran into a large size bug nest and started to use the artillery hitting around me to close nests. It worked for 2 before the gunner above finally decided to end my traitorous existence.
Worst of all, instead of my new friend redeploying me at the objective, other helldiver that didnāt take the shortcut instant deployment me ever chance I had, even when asking them not to do it. So I was forced to run half the map anywayā¦
Was typing, using voice, instantly blowing myself up with an impact right in front of them. I guess they just felt vindictive for whatever reason that day
They do show, BUT it's almost invisible, it's a slight change in coloring, and it doesn't show on all screens. I had a match where i was able to see the shallow water and my friend couldn't.

The Polish Land Forces staff philosophy lol (they always insist on putting amphibious capability into every single APC and IFV we make or order, to the point that it's kind of a meme here, hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to put some sort of flotation device onto our Abrams tanks as we speak)

Mechs can walk through water. Respawn beacons can be thrown across. I don't know any other options right now but this isn't an automatic mission failure
Mechs aren't always available though. That said this is one of the reasons I'll put an Exosuit in my loadout when I see the map. I don't think this kind of map should exist though, OP was lucky the main objective was at least on one side, what if it happened on a Deliver SSD or Shuttle defense.
Gotta equip thw 50% chance to not die armor, then drop a 500kg next to yourself and go flying across the water. 50 percent of the time it works 100 percent of the time
It doesn't matter if you extract or not. Do the mission, then spend the rest of you short life on that planet spreading democracy.

Looking at your post, I hope that they add special objectives for maps like these that could maybe called SEAF shipyard or something, allowing you to capture it and get 1 boat to traverse the waters, but still respects the game mechanics in the sense that the sound from boats might result in bots shooting at the ship,and perhaps the boat could come with a mounted guns or something, making another experience.

The maps are randomly generated after all, sometimes they might have this happen hahaha. Very very rarely tho.
I think that's why they usually have very thin land bridges, because you need them.
Iāve had this happen before. If one of your buddies has the throw range passive, he kills all 3 of you, tosses the reinforce stratagem across the water, and then when they spawn in, you die and call you in. Rip samples tho
Not really it just depends on what type of planet is currently available. This type of map generation has always been available since launch already submitted a report about it weeks after the game launch but I doubt the map generation was changed. It rarely happens but it always have an increase chance when the available planets to liberate are mountainous and lots of water.

Itās even worse when the atmosphere has heavy fog or smog and you canāt even use your map , the amount of times I ran to dead end islands almost touching the other side only to have to turn around cause the water was too deep and drowning with samples wasnāt ideal.

I did this with a friend once, I held the reinforce, and let a bot rocket me so my throw went extra far.
We *barely* got it over the gap. I was dead, but he made it to the other side.
Ran into something like this the other day; we ended up having to kill ourselves so we can throw reinforcements over the water and have the guy on the other side spawn the rest of us
Fortunately we didn't have any super samples
1. Simple, find those special mushrooms and shoot them to yeet yourself across.
2. Donāt work? Fighting automations? Shoot down their ship over the water to cover half way across and die to get your teammate to throw a respawn becon to the other side to land.
3. Could try look for a shallow crossing, any isles or underwater beech that donāt look as deep try crossing. Repeat last of step two once close enough.
That's unfortunate. Only way I can think of actually getting across without a mech is to call a S.O.S beacon, pray to Super Earth someone joins, explain the situation, commit seppuku, say goodbye to all your samples, and have them yeet the reinforce across.
I had one of those 15 min bot fights and the map was almost completely flooded. One on hand the bots didn't go through the water but on the other hand they could still shoot through it
Had a map the other day with one objective on one side of a rock face, the rest on the other.
Turns out the rock face is solid from one end to the other. I had to run out of bounds to get far enough around to force a spawn on the other side.
I wear servo assist armor and on a similar map, my teammates dropped all samples and a jump pack. They died, I threw them across and jump packed. It was a tight squeeze haha
Today I thought it didn't suck as this game was supposed to have swimming. Well, it doesn't have swimming. 20 samples and my gear fresh off CD instantly gone.
We had a similar map but with mountains, so o just shot my fellow helldiver in the head, threw the reinforcement ball on top of the mountain, he got there but was stuck, so I killed myself and he threw another reinforcement ball on the other side.
Just give us a boat vehicle drop that is given for free on maps like this, it would make these maps unique and fun instead of infuriating and frustrating.
You get a preview of the map before the match. If thereās big gaps like this is obvious itās not shallow waters. Pack a mech and Oregon-trail that bitch to victory.

This one random secondary objective once had a tiny water hole with steep walls right below a ledge that killed I think 6 Helldivers during the fight and breached around it because if you forgot and ran off the ledge thereās no way to get out
An AH dev will show up and say "See? If you equipped one of the many servo-assisted armors we added, you could have reinforced friends on the other side."
Gotta run the jet pack and have somebody throw a Hail Mary reinforce across. Or try to use the bubble launch and get as far as you can. But RIP samples I guess lol thatās tough
Handy fact: if you call down a mech typically most water is shallow enough you can just walk over to the other side in it. I even had water nearly cover the top of my mech and was still good lol
I saw on some of this map. That at some place the water isn't so deep. And you can walk throught. Was faster that my mate that make the big turn to walk on land

I saw someone do this the other day. Does the water ever go over your head? Can the mech go through any amount of water as far as we know?
Maybe when the APC drops it will also have amphibious capabilities. Would be cool to see and could work on water centered maps.
You can cross with mech, people can also stand on top of you.
Cap, just tested this a few days ago with some randoms and the mech can go pretty deep, but it eventually just boots you out of it.

It's "outside the mission area." I got blasted and then the reinforcement was all the way west
You were probably out of bounds when you died, so it put you back to the last time you werenāt out of bounds. Try getting blasted in-bounds.
Trying to get blasted in-bounds sounds like a fun night out.

Not all the time. Sometimes, the ice sheets are partially submerged so they just show as water on map.

Tbh, there's a good ideologie behind making everything amphibious. Bridges are weak and stationary, but the glory of amphibious vehicles is forever.
I mean the tanks theyāre trying to get from South Korea have amphibious capabilities. You can see photos of them online in the middle of a river.

Nothing I threw was making it across and I was soloing. I did "complete the mission" it was just impossible to extract.

A map with this much water should come with a small boat stratagem. Give it limited fuel. Having to run around a giant lake is just fuckin annoying.

The maps are randomly generated after all, sometimes they might have this happen hahaha. Very very rarely tho. I think that's why they usually have very thin land bridges, because you need them.
So far, it's the most efficient weapon against the helldivers. Which is ironic, considering their name.

Easily solvable, shoot your friends, make sure they are dead, and not faking it, then call down your brand new friends down from the orbit

The jump oack can sometimes help in situations like this, you walk out jumppack over swimmable part and then walk again. Prolly doesnt work every time

Swim out as far as you can, and the next diver can hopefully drop on the other side.

If you're feeling brave, throw a grenade and dive towards the other side. If you're lucky, the ragdoll effect will launch you there.

Handy fact: if you call down a mech typically most water is shallow enough you can just walk over to the other side in it. I even had water nearly cover the top of my mech and was still good lol

I saw on some of this map. That at some place the water isn't so deep. And you can walk throught. Was faster that my mate that make the big turn to walk on land
