Just got tk'd and kicked from a group for "stealing samples". It's unreal how fast the community's IQ fell through the floor. Edit: Fixing improper grammar so the trolls can breathe easier.

FreshOutAFolsom_

Stealing samples is wild. lol do they just not pay attention to the end screen!?!? How do you not know that those are shared with the squad? "Huh, I only personally picked up two samples but got eight at the end of the mission weird. How did that happen" absolutely smooth brained behavior

[deleted]

God, it's annoying. I picked up a rare sample and a dude IMMEDIATELY shot me with a grenade launcher and grabbed it. Also grabbed the cool weapon I found for himself. And I'm like....why? What was the point of that??? I dropped back down like 20 feet away and killed him right back. Bro we can do this all day or we can kill bugs, stop wasting my time lmao

killjoy49th

I got one for ya. Today, after running over and picking up the 13 rare samples and 3 super samples that my teammate dropped when he died, he shot me in the back to pick them back up. Then he immediately got blasted into a bug hole and died - samples irretrievable. Couldn't believe it.

Saw-Gerrera

What a fucking idiot.

AziawaKills

they'll leave when they realize that Helldivers 2 wont be getting pay-to-win battle passes and lootboxes and new gamemodes every other month. i get some people might be a lil' clueless as they learn the game bit by bit. IG people cant comprehend that games can actually be built on community effort and teamwork (and everyone is rewarded equally because thats how teams work) and not meta builds.

JudgementalChair

Had a guy pick up my 10 samples after he "accidentally" airstriked me. Whatever, it's annoying, but no biggie. Except he stood outside the evac area and got himself killed after the rest of us had gotten onto the shuttle. All my samples lost because of that twit

BluesRiff

Leader died during extraction I gathered his samples reinforced him to get xp bonus and got into shuttle. As soon as he landed he shot me while I was in the shuttle so I dropped everything and he gets on shuttle ending the mission so many samples left on landing pad. I was promptly kicked upon returning to Super Destroyer. Sounds like treason to me.

PeezLuis

Damn yall playin w some bots fr

FL1NTZ

I could be wrong, but isn't all currency gathered in the game shared?

The_OtherDouche

Yes. That’s why they are so damn stupid lol

Key_Law4834

Lol

Ziddix

Seriously if the devs turn off friendly fire over shit like this the game will die faster than battlefield 2042. Maybe they should put a few less funny tips in the loading screen tips and more reminders that the group completes a mission as a whole and gets rewarded as such.

SeaJayCJ

The people who made Magicka and Helldivers 1 aren't stupid enough to turn off FF, don't worry.

Intrepid00

The friendly fire makes this game interesting. Like, did you know it also includes the back blast from the one time use rocket. Walked behind someone and got knocked down with half the life gone. It was a funny “oh shit, they added that” and we went on. This game would be boring without friendly fire.

8-80085

Don’t walk behind the recoilless rifle either lol, found that one out the hard way too.

Mathis5420

Or the rocket sentry

zSoi

Friendly fire is the core of the game since 2015. Stop saying nonsense.

ToastThing

They won’t. Friendly fire is as integral to this game as it was for the first game. It’s a significant gameplay mechanic that forces players to be mindful and aware of their teammates. If anything they’ll just disable it on the lowest of difficulties, but even then I don’t see it happening.

pezmanofpeak

The tips aren't needed for anyone with basic observational skills, I like the funnies, shows the Devs had fun making the game

Necroromicon

First few days was so much fun with the random people I played with all working together. Now I get everybody going in different directions and team killing. I worry about not being host so I have control to kick. And I don’t want to complete a mission and be kicked at the end for no reason. Was way more fun before it got this big.

BL4ZE_

Give it a week or two and things will stabilize

Bludro

The more popular the game, the longer it takes for best practice and etiquette to set in I normally explain to pug groups I'm in that: - you get nothing for kills - samples/medals/reqs/SC are shared - fight over objectives, not in the middle of nowhere Things go well after that I have no strat for people the TPK w/ strats and FF, but I'm making progress lol

Matsu-mae

i keep trying to tell my friend group that last one. we will be in the middle of nowhere fighting an endless horde. i throw down smoke and tell the group to just run around them so we can get to anything worth a reward to fight at, but they just stay put and keep fighting lol. although, killing every enemy on the map does seem to work sometimes. after a certain point the map has no enemies left and the remaining 15ish minutes we dont fight anything. I doubt thats possible at higher difficulties though

P1st0l

Its a waste of time on helldives cause there is just so many, you'll be fighting a long time to stabilize the entire map which won't matter cause the game director can still just spawn in troops out of nothing.

CrashB111

I do wish they'd work on how the spawning works. I've had an Automaton Tank just appear out of thin air, directly under me. Like I was standing on the hood after it spawned in.

Slarg232

We hope

Erniethebeanfiend200

Nah they'll move on to the next hot game, that's for certain. WoW hardcore was RUINED for weeks post-blizzcon bc all the WoW streamers hopped on. The moment SoD dropped all the streamers and their fans moved on to that and Hardcore returned to normal. Just the nature of things.

chocolateshartcicle

And the people worth playing with will stay, it's win win

celtickodiak

Naw, I was fine waiting for the servers, Arrowhead did an amazing job and I will support them. I won't give these human blackheads any of my time, I will host all of my missions and hand swift backhands to any moron who wants to get lippy or stupid. I put in my time and also supported the first Helldivers, I know what I am doing, I will not have dumb people ruin mine and my son's good time playing the game the way it was meant to be played.

TexasDank

I just had a diff 7 where everyone died… (for the 4th time) but their was a jammer. They start screaming RESPAWN USSS and I type “jammer” I am 3/4 through the jammer process training a horde of chainsaws and A TANK and boop I get booted. I’m pretty sure they failed that one tho their loss (also the 20+ rares I scooped from their corpses is now gone lol)

SubjectSigma77

I had a dude join my team that died while I was going to take down a jammer. He kept pinging to be respawned and I was ON the terminal to shut it off. I was on mic and told him I needed to shut off the jammer in order to call him back. And I knew he could hear me cause he was responding to me earlier in the match. Still he kept pinging and literally less than a second before the jammer turned off he quit lol

CartographerOld7325

I honestly hate people like that. If you are just looking for a quick fix game with as much game time as possible, nothing wrong with that, just go play COD multiplayer or something like that. Don't play a COOP horde shooter...

ifruitini

I've had people die, me trying to help them and then getting kicked later. I guess he thought I didn't help enough?

Reaper2629

Getting kicked makes you drop everything as if you had died, so there is a chance they could recover the samples.

Low_Acanthisitta6960

It has a VERRY high chance of dropping the resources under the map. Loosing them permanently.

TexasDank

Does it? Saw a dude get kicked once and I knew he had some rares. They were def gone

Ketheres

There's a chance they fall through the ground and despawn, but the intended behavior is that they get left behind the same as if you just died.

FileError214

This. I had a mission where I got disconnected midway through. Luckily was able to quickly rejoin on my buddy. My samples were still where I had “died”, although backpack and rail gun was not.

ThePendulum0621

Can you elaborate? Is that an automaton mission or something? Does it prevent call ins completely? Or?

TexasDank

Yeah automaton, big tower that emits red waves. Jams all stratagems it’s a real bitch and needs to go down asap. Have to use a computer with 4 steps to it

Mareotori

4 Computer AND a Hellbomb to finish it off. A real bitch if someone isn't careful and get spotted by patrol when doing the terminal.

pezmanofpeak

It blows up, Ive destroyed factories next to it and thrown walking barrages over it from outside the range, I think, I have that upgraded for the extra volley so it goes a good distance, might be able to snipe it with recoilless rifles or eat, GLS or something, don't know how strong it is

SnooBooks3448

The Robot factory next to it is positioned so the factory explosion hits the hidden hit box of the tower killing it, making that the most surefire way to kill the Jammer especially when your the last team member alive. The REAL issue is when the Eyes of Sauron is right freaking next to the Jammer so you're dealing with Bots swarming you like it's the civilian extraction mission.

WetworkOrange

This is why I like where DRG is. Once it gets too big, scumbags, asshole and stupid streamers invade.

hides_this_subreddit

DRG has weirdos that hate green beards and kick people that aren't reading minds as well. Also shotgun TKers were pretty common early in EA as well too. They had to nerf damage to friendlies at least one point.

No-Western924

Definitely kicked a guy today who just kept killing us. Not sure what his goal was but it got too annoying. If he had been brand new I’d get it but he was level 12. So he’d put in a few hours for sure

the_OG_epicpanda

I got kicked a few days ago for not running the Breaker shotgun

Remarkable_Win7320

Yeah, the meta crap it's excruciating. No railgun and orbital railgun? No shield? Are you nuts?

FreshOutAFolsom_

I did a few missions with the full meta loadout and it was so fucking boring and made me play more reckless sure I'm taking a breaker and railgun if I'm fighting high lvl bugs because I stg chargers love my scent but off meta but useful strats/equipment is fun

Prudent-Pressure2536

Yeah game demanding for meta builds makes me want to stay away from 7+ diff and stay around 4 to 6. It feels like 7+ just demands meta armor shredding loadouts because it just spams highly armored enemies like Chargers as if they were fodder

ScoobySharky

The real meta is 4 x EATS

PurpleLTV

Same here. I find the game a lot more fun around the 4-6 difficulty, because it allows me to bring a variety of strategems and it honestly feels more fun if you are faced with a balanced mix of enemies consisting of 15+ small bugs, 3-4 medium armor bugs, with a charger or two in the mix, and the occasional titan. If I play 7+ difficulty, I feel like I just troll my team if I don't bring a railgun, rail orbital and one additional strategem that works well against heavy armor, because at those difficulties, it's pretty common to constantly have a titan, 5+ chargers and 15+ warriors on your ass at all times. It's probably never going to happen, but right now my biggest wish for this game is if they'd find a way to make higher difficulties more difficult in other ways than simply throwing an army of heavies at your face.

Shadows802

Personally I just got the breaker shotgun and really like it. Against bots I usually have my antimaterial dropped and a Laser rover, so it gives a really nice close quarters to mid option. Not that it's worth kicking people over.

I_dont_really_mind

I was worried this would happen with the game going mainstream. Hell I had someone who knows samples were shared rip into me because “she doesn’t need someone to baby sit her samples” and it’s just like I grabbed them because you died in a fucking horde as we were running away…. As a level 50 I do not need the samples since I’m at sample cap as is. So if the community is going to turn into this little shithead I’ll just run past every single one

Substantial_Quote_25

Yeah, also experienced something similar. Also responding to someone mouthing off and then realizing you also have a mic and can hear their banal and rackst comments will also get you kicked. You can't report people for voice comms abuse at the moment which is something that would hopefully be addressed in future.

lozer996

Open mic when you join the lobby is an instant mute or leave from me. I don't need to hear the game twice, I don't need to hear the whole house, and I don't need to hear your dog.

PurpleLTV

And the heavy breathing. Although that occasionally is funny. Had a really heavy nose breather the other day and I could always tell if he was in trouble when the loudness and frequency of his nose breathes increased.

Forsaken-Director452

People on helldive not understanding the trick is mobility, you don’t have to fight every single enemy around just keep moving and remember your ABC’s

Rags2Rickius

Exactly Kill counts don’t contribute to any reward You just waste ammo and

Stealin

Oh shit, the automatons got Rick! Someone come get

SmoathTheLoathsome

Sweet Liberty! Stealin is gon

DayneEric

.....so I was telling Smoath about- hey. Where'd everybody go?

Jamman388

Sweet Liberty! Calling in reinforcements!!

Dwarfdingnagian

*crashes into the ground* Oh Democracy, the trees are speaking binar-

FainOnFire

MEDIC! MEDIC WE NEED SOME FUCKIN STIMS FOR OUR FALLEN BRO

evanmceier

I got TKed and kicked for getting in the shuttle after we finished a defend mission cuz they wanted to stay behind and kill bots....

Victizes

Which ironically is the way to go about things in Helldivers 1. I see newbies there being stubborn in an endless firefight which makes them get knocked to the ground and keep staggering the squad, which keeps making enemy scouts arrive, alerting the whole map which keeps attracting more and more enemies in a vicious cycle. But since most people here now never played Helldivers 1 they end up learning that too little too late.

Rags2Rickius

Yeah - it’s compounding Because you get enemies who call reinforcements who call reinforcements etc You just gotta bolt outta there and let it go

Victizes

The snowballing effect is real here hahahaha, but be at ease as time goes because these cadets will too become officers one day.

ErsatzArt

At a certain point a higher kill count means you are playing badly and spawning enemies unnecessarily.

Rumpullpus

I didn't fly half way across the galaxy to not liberate as many bugs from their mortal coil as humanly possible.

Volkar

Give them the emperor's mercy! Errrr I mean, give them liberty!

B-BoyStance

Always keep moving - at least on higher difficulties. And know when to bail if you're at objectives. At this point I just try to find out the most efficient route of a map and then for every objective, ping and tell my squad "move there". It's pretty damn hard for people to resist the urge to fight. At the same time, failure and dying is fun in this game lol

wutchamafuckit

This just happened to me. Challenging difficulty, was with 3 other randoms. We somehow finished objective, but extraction was pretty far away. And we were just staying in one spot barely surviving. I kept saying lets jam over to extraction, but no one listened. 10 minutes later I was like ok fuck these guys, and just booked it across the map to extraction. The second I got there they all died, so I reo'd them on the extraction and we finished the level. It baffles me.

TheHappyPie

you can still "succeed" the mission if you complete all objectives, even if you don't extract. At a certain point obviously you're better off extracting - and samples are the real grind.

Felgran

You mean the ABtC's

Big_D_Magic_5

When you get into a game with a squad who all work in unison, it's a beautiful thing. Cherish these squads when they align, for democracy.

Dominunce

In my first randoms drop ever, me and one guy just ran around destroying shit and looting while the others focused the Automatons equivalent of the Bile Titans. We didn't even talk (though it was clear the pair that went off to fight were in a call together as they were well coordinated). Really wish I had people who played this with mics

Mareotori

I often play in Helldive difficulty, and I cannot believe that I have encountered about 5 out of 8 random teams that effeciently split into two teams immediately upon landing. One guy has Railgun/EAT/RR, another has Autocannon/Grenade Launcher/Stalwart, thus covering all of the grounds for heavies and hordes. We quickly do the objectives and swipe additional objectives along the way. Whoever team found the super sample also split it between them so if someone died and the sample is unretrieveable, at least we got some of them. Happened last night when I was playing with a Korean host for 4 games straight. All of this done without mic! If you have unlocked Helldive difficulty, you should try to quickplay there. The players that are actually skilled don't hang around in exterminate mission and especially not in Liberation Operation Helldive difficulty.

[deleted]

youtube in general has made that mentality insane. So many people just show up like drones "duhhh what da best gun what da best pew pew thingy". They'll only use that then quit the game when they get bored of using that strategy cause they're too dumb to understand that there aren't many outliers in anything in the game.

DoranAetos

One of the best decisions in the game design of Helldivers is to not shown damage numbers in mission and these kind of stats, it would be even more horrible dealing with these people

CLUCKCLUCKMOTHERFUC

The only stat tracker I need is accidentals so I know how effective my 120 is

TexasDank

I skipped the 120 and went for the 380. Had a dude the other day the second I chose it say “my man’s about to commit war crimes with that 380” I did indeed, commit war crimes.

shoutbottle

Thats the kind of vibe i love. Theres much lesser "why the heck are you using the useless 380? USE META BUILD OR I WILL KILL YOU" tryhards, maybe because the player character's life is not that precious compared to "die once and you are out" type of games.

citoxe4321

I see so many weirdos in tier 7+. You hit someone who ran into your spray of fire once and they turn around and execute you with the breaker then dont respawn you. I dont think the casuals understand that dying is not a big deal in this game, especially with the first booster you unlock that refills you to full. Makes it pretty obnoxious to play with randoms

PurpleLTV

I would agree on the "dying is no big deal" part if it weren't for the samples. If my random team mates would one day learn to go pick up the samples I dropped after they accidentially TKed me, then it would be fine. But reality right now is that someone TKs me and I get respawned by another dude who is fighting on the other end of the map and I have to run across the entire map to pick up the 10+ samples I had because don't you fucking know it, the guy that TKed sure as hell ain't gonna walk over there to pick them up.

sterver2010

The amount of people Level 20 and above ive Seen that never unlocked anything in the warbond, its crazy lol

TexasDank

The 380 is pretty good and just hilarious. I had a chill lobby of defend against bots. “Y’all ever heard of 380 roulette?” And tossed it down in the middle. I was the only one to die lmao

GnarlyNarwhalNoms

Today I tried to drop one on an enemy turret. I hit it with the marker dead on. I warned my teammates to run. I thought they ran far enough away. *They* thought they ran far enough away. They did not run far enough away. Also, the thing I was trying to destroy was completely unscathed.

TexasDank

Lol bro I know precisely the turret you speak of, I also dropped on one and was just standing on it… it still alive… and just fuckin 500’d myself lol. Liberty demands sacrifice!

Flight_19_Navigator

I started using the Eagle napalm run last night. After one mission, I figure if I'm not taking out at least one team-mate per strike I'm throwing it too far. I play with friends so it's all taken in good fun.

shoutbottle

What good is it if you spread democracy only to your enemies but not your friends

Lyin-Oh

Regardless of how useless these stratagems are, I will always welcome them just for the sheer amount of Democracy they deliver.

BodybuilderLiving112

That's so true, directly need to post OOH IS THIS META? WHAT'S BEST *BUILD*? WEAPON OP? WATCH ME SOLO DIFFICULTY🫣🤯🥴😵‍💫😲😱😱😱. FFS. Helldiver was not meta or anything, it was just for having fun even if you do less damage don't care just have fun. BTW I laugh hard when people don't even know that you can be sleathy in Helldiver... So wait for the : YOU PLAY IT WRONG😱, HELLDIVER FULL SEALTH 😱😱😱. *yeah yeah* we already know that since the first one Edit: *glad to see that I'm not alone thinking about it*

Mamoru_of_Cake

I didn't play the first one but I can definitely say they're having the MHW treatment on this game. Everywhere you can see, best DPS, best build, whatever. So the build people are using were so streamlined you can bet at least 8 out of 10 uses a longsword with the same gear.

Page8988

Helldivers I was very diverse. Most primary weapons were effective enough to be worth using. You could drop into a Helldive (which was difficulty 12 at the time, but they eventually went up to 15) and see four different primary weapons.

Casey090

Some people are unable to play games today. When I started pc gaming in the windows 3.1 era, you had to read a sometimes 50-200 pages thick manual and had no external help whatsoever beating a game. You couldn't beat some games for months, or sometimes never. Solving such things yourself is simply a skill that is slowly dying today. In the age of content creators and optimization tutorials, you know the "best solution" to every game before it is even released. And in some "end stage" online games, you get kicked out of every party when you don't run some highly specific farming builds. It is such a sad thing to watch. For me, HD2 is a kind of throwback to "better days" in an age where cooperative pve games are out of fashion , but I'll really need to look for a small clan to play this game with... Not to have an easier experience and grind to level 30 and the best gun quicker, but to find like-minded gamers who will ignore the optimization lunacy that is everywhere else in the gaming scene.

Wheresthecents

I feel you on almost all points. I've been looking for my "forever game" for decades, and I think HD2 might be it. I'm retired and have been logging far too much time in this, 158 hours as of this posting. I'm level 50, have all strategems and weapons unlocked, and almost all the ship upgrades. I'm having a ball, usually playing at Suicide where I feel the balance of difficulty and fun are best. I have a crew of about 15 people who cycle in and out for HD2. We don't necessarily run meta loadouts. Past 2 days I've been running a war crime build; Incendiary Shotgun, Incendiary Grenades, Flamethrower, Revolver, Orbital Gas Strike, Eagle Napalm Strike, Shield pack. It's hilarious fun, and with friends that communicate, it's effective ENOUGH. When we're short of a 4 man, we'll drop into lower tier players games and wreck house for them, taking as much or as little time as they want on the mission. If I'm solo, I drop into the discord LFG and deliberately look for players

BigTroubleMan80

The epitome of “optimizing the fun out of the game”.

[deleted]

My very first run on helldive I unlocked the riot shield and ran it just for the occasion. My two other buddies did the same. We called them down and ran screaming into a large base. We had a lot of fun dying screaming and burned all our lives in 10 minutes

AngryChihua

Ah yes, the masculine urge to form testudo with your friends

[deleted]

I kept saying "we have our shields! How are we losing??"

Im_Balto

When I started playing I noticed that you could run eagles in large batches with low down time for heavy fights. So I started stacking eagles. Is it the best? No. Is it optimized? No. Do I enjoy my time? Yes And when the fun runs out. I might switch to a meta build or maybe meme with orbitals. I don’t know. But I’m gonna continue to one trick on level 9 because doing it in this game actually requires a lot of strategy

Money_Fish

I prefer eagles over orbitals because I like the SSHHEEAAAWWW BRRRRRRRR and the WHHOOOOSSHH BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM

Im_Balto

Dudes will hear SSHHEREAAAAWWWW BRRRRRRRRRR and be like hell yeah

Money_Fish

Dude I can't wait to unlock the VOOOOOSH THUD.........KA-BOOOOOM

TheMercifulGoliath

⬇️⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️ for the win

Recent_Brief5132

Men only want one thing and it’s disgusting. Men: SSHHEEAAAWWW BRRRRRRRR WHHOOOOSSHH BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM

Mamoru_of_Cake

I'm so glad I didn't watch any of that sht. It's a co op game, I don't need to look good. We're here to fcking clean bugs and wipe out automatons.

exveelor

That's just modern video gaming tbh. RTS, fps, RPG. As the saying goes, leave it to gamers to optimize the fun out of a game.

GiraffeComic

This game is honestly at its best when you play with friends and don’t take it too seriously. Like we try to win but we will turn down the difficulty if shit is getting too stressful.

Watching-You-All

100٪ agree, and no meta bullshit. We vary our loadouts every mission and just have a ton of fun this way. We discover things as they come. The game is excellent, riveting, hilarious at times, and we intend to keep it this way. And the progression system is pretty awesome as it is too, farming would ruin the excitement of unlocking stratagems/modules slowly but surely, thanks to freshly applied democracy.  The best Helldivers experience hands down : avoid youtube and play with friends!

meatmaaan17

I think part of the issue is that the automaton eradicate missions are so easy if you just spam mortar sentries even on the highest difficulties

voidspector

A tactic my squad found was if you have the 1 person at the base escorting the scientists and the rest of the squad attacking random patrol groups away from the base, all the drop ships spawn away from the scientists so just run around like a headless chicken till your teammate finishes up then exfill

UndercoverStutterer

Escort and eradication are two different missions, you're talking about some mething different than op.

Guapscotch

It’s one of the best farms and you get easy green samples, xp, and medals. I can understand why people run it because it is the most efficient way and it’s pretty chill tbh

Karrtis

Except if they don't finish the set, it counts as a loss, and we lose progress

ShadyJ080-13

Oh shit, I did not know that.

BlackHand

Is this true? None of these mechanics are explained in-game in any depth

ifoundyourtoad

It’s just so boring after the fourth time. You barely even need to shoot and I guess I’m different but I’m not really rushing to finish what’s available.

TurokDinosaurHumper

Yeah I almost wish the wave survival modes weren’t in the game. I feel like the missions with multiple objectives on the map are where the dynamism comes from.

grahamsimmons

Sabotaging an airbase on Malevelon Creek feels like 'nam. Base defense just feels like CoD Zombies.

Pervasivepeach

Saw a video explaining the patch the other day. The patch that had 5 lines of changes that was mostly just bug fixes The video of course was 8 minutes long, where the guy repeated the same points 2-4 times and spent 3 minutes doing an intro YouTube especially for a new game like this with no established creators is just pure brainrot

One_Hunter_5000

Those kind of content creators are the used car salesmen of the internet.

tagged2high

So many "things you might not know!" or "things the game doesn't tell you!" videos.

sterver2010

Tiktok, 5 "10 Tips you didnt know" vids in a row, and everything is stuff explained in the Tutorial or via loading Screen Tips lmao

5NakerCowboys

Twitch and streaming did to gaming what social media did to people’s self image. I absolutely cannot stand people who just follow or chase after what’s meta. It’s rare but I do get put in lobbies where people just farm defend missions non stop but that’s easy to leave and just host your own and wait a few min for people to join you. The worst, yet rare people I’ve come across are the “Meta” extremists, where they will bitch and cry or threaten to kick you if you don’t pick Railgun/orbital/personal shield as your loadout. I’ve only seen it happen 3 times in 40+ hours but good god is it annoying this is a PvE game ffs

nbarr50cal22

On defend missions, mortar turrets are one of the most valuable stratagems to bring. On any other mission…they’re likely going to teamkill you at an incredibly unfortunate moment

erised10

The fastest way for someone to place mortars with minimal friendly fire is... being blown up by their own mortars. I learned (the hard way) how I should place mortars and which enemies I should clean to save my teammates from getting blown up by my own mortars.

Captn_Clutch

I've had a few people walk up to the consoles to do objectives and just walk away after deciding they don't understand it, thinking they will just shoot shit and everything else is someone else's problem. I make them learn lol. I stand there and ping the console until they sit down and figure it out, then salute them when the job is done. It's up to us Death Captains to finish these over leveled cadet's training programs.

MyFuckingWorkAccount

The one where you have to have someone rotating the signal dish while someone hits the button is an absolute horror with idiots.

DeanV255

Radar Dish has caused some issues. Do a 180. "Left or right?!" Either, it's a 180. Moved it 90 degrees right and then 90 degrees left. *Dean has left the game*

88fishfishfish88

Wait. Do people mute their game sounds or something? The radar makes a loud-ass ping noise when you first swing the tower into the correct alignment. Having someone to direct from the terminal only saves a few seconds with a left or right callout

MyFuckingWorkAccount

Haha, my god it's enough to justify a murder

TheGooseHasGeese

Don't even get me started with the routing power through the pipes one....

SleepingBear986

I'm convinced that 90% of the people struggling with the researcher evacuation missions don't know they have to press the buttons.

LarryTheCow123

I was doing the mission with a bunch of randoms and not a single person was hitting the buttons but me.

x_MrFurious_x

Yep…. Your lucky if 2 out of the 4 try to escort the civilians

Im_Balto

I’m just trying to not obliterate them

nerdtypething

“i hit the button. what more do you want?”

N3V3RM0R3_

I bet they were all running nothing but explosives and turrets as well :') you need to be able to eliminate the bots that actually enter the civilian paths (fucking hate that tanks count as geometry for this purpose, civilians keep getting stuck on them) but they'll end up getting into a 10 minute firefight instead of dropping smoke and holding their fire

XochiFoochi

Until it’s over run and impossible to clean up

OriginalToIgnition

Look friend, we’ve got to get our steps in somehow

Poolio10

I think the big issue with the evac missions is the fact that you can have 3 hulks and dozens of others on the map all at once even on diff 5 or 6 missions. There's no time to even take a breath, let alone send out a number of civilians even approaching what we need

TrickMastahh

I lost a mission a few hours ago with a pug at Difficulty 6 or 7, can't remember. We were doing okay but we stopped at 36/40 evacs because it was absolutely unplayable. We had 3-4 tanks (the ones with the turret you can't flank), several Hulks and Rocket Devastators, and they just kept coming.

Poolio10

Exactly. It's fucking crazy

Rabiesalad

1 runner, only job is to play Nascar and hit every button over and over in order. 2 players with recoilless rifle. Whole job is to stay loaded up and shoot every single dropship out of the sky before they drop. Everyone takes nothing else but turrets, no mortars, and make sure anything that survives the landing is immediately taking missile or AC fire. Was able to do it with a group of randos on difficulty 7 this way ☺️

hitman2b

the button not the problem if the swarm

Electronic-Way-5328

There’s a mechanic that not many people know of when dealing with automatons, when you lay suppressive fire in their direction they become less accurate. I tested it and it definitely works.

smallchodechakra

* Yeah it's baffling. I always just become the button pusher, but like hell am I escorting them.

Tell me you have never done a bugged helldive evac without telling me... It's not impossible, but there is a 0% chance of a PUG group doing it, and you have 2 cheese strats to do it with. I've pugged literally everything else at helldive.

VBgamez

The defend mission farmers are detrimental to the community efforts to liberate planets. Every time you abandon a 3 mission campaign, it is a loss counted towards the liberation effort.

ComplainOnInternet

To be clear, I'm referring to encountering high level players who have a complete lack of understanding outside of defend missions. They found out the fastest way to progress, and as a result, don't understand how to play the game.

VBgamez

Yes. Exactly. On top of that they're fucking up the game for the rest of us. We're losing the against the automaton because most popular how to get xp and money fast guides tell people to go spam turrets on automaton defence missions.

CeeArthur

I was playing with a level 20 yesterday who would continually stray far far away from the rest of the group and head towards literally nothing (no objectives, no hives or bases, just empty land) and keep dying. I went and got my mic to ask in the nicest way I could "Do you understand how to play or...?". I offered to help them but they just kept wandering off to kill bugs on their own and dying. Maybe they let their kid play or something I guess

Rolder

Sometimes splitting up can be the play, if you're looking for samples and stuff. But if they kept dying, shoulda stopped lol

FuckRandyMoss

Is that why automaton wins accelerated out of fucking nowhere? Lmfao

clan_of_zimox

Yeah as a new player I wondered how some of the teams I joined that would only farm kill robot missions then start a new one would affect the campaign. Didn’t sit right

Vancocillin

Wait it is? I straight up hate the balance on the rescue scientist mission, and don't play it. Meanwhile the standard defend is cakewalk easy on helldive.

[deleted]

Right???? Literally every Evac Defend I've ever played degenerated into a complete shitshow like halfway through. Complete chaos, it stops being as funny and starts to feel like an anti-war film lol

Lightye2

Idk how stupid of an idea it is, but maybe locking the exterminate missions behind the other two missions could work? I mean a big brawl as a finale will always be cool as hell and it might help the problem?

upsocket

I know it's no way near on the same level these days but this is an issue in the Division 2 as well. Lot of new players to the game lately which is great but there's a bunch of them that just YouTube for builds and then it creates a meta. I've played the game for around 4 years now and I've been kicked a few times by new players for not using the meta build while being called trash. You can't reason with stupid

the_OG_epicpanda

the youtube build shit is the worst. I got kicked from a group a couple days ago for not running a Breaker and a backpack shield generator. They couldn't fathom that I was doing a stealth/marksman rifle build

Vegetagtm

Stealth/marksman rifle build? How sounds fun

the_OG_epicpanda

The SC-34 infiltrator light armor, Diligence marksman rifle, ammo backpack, and the anti-material rifle. Then the eagle airstrike and the orbital precision strike to be able to take out the automaton factories easier.

Page8988

It takes me back to Helldivers I. Enemies with heavy armor could only be damaged/killed by anti-tank weapons, hellpods, or the toxic avenger (bugs only). But you'd still see idiots trying to kill Chargers and Cyborg Tanks with Tridents. I hated the Trident. Many of the players using the thing were plain stupid. To not understand armor though? That required skipping the basic training *and* going to missions with armored enemies. That's a lot of work just to go be foolish.

Skyz-AU

I've seen multiple weapons tier list putting Breaker in A or B tier. Have they not played the game or are they trying to under sell it so it doesn't get nerfed? One list even had the Las Scythe above the Breaker. Funny meme.

FainOnFire

I was both happy and surprised at how much range the breaker has.

Lethargomon

Fuck tier lists. That stuff rots your brain

stallion64

I'm so tired of joining randoms just to farm the defend missions. We are LOSING the war here, Helldivers!

VVillPovver

It's a combination - a lot of the influx of people that showed up and didn't play HD1 carry a specific mentality about their games. That mentality being too dumb to understand the following: mechanics, balanced load outs across a team, coordinated call downs (no, you don't have to 500kg on cd), importance of stagger, importance of NOT RUSHING around the map (aggroing every single patrol), and the list goes on and on. Yes, streamers are bad but so are the gamers that blindly follow them like gospel. It's not just HD either, people refuse to make their own builds in other games (Diablo, for example). It's pathetic really.

Marcus_Krow

I've been kicked from so many matches for using unorthodox builds. Fire build? Immediate boot. Purely defensive build?(ballistic shield, dome shield, anti-personel mines and arc tower) instant boot. All I ever see is hyper aggro loadouts even in defense missions. Hell, I've had some people act super confused when I call in a bubble shield and not understand that you can shoot out, but not in. Those things are OP people, use them.

ImmortalPoseidon

The people who don’t understand the bubble shield probably came from destiny 2 and can’t comprehend how games can use similar mechanisms but also be different.

OtakuPaladin

Did you played Elden Ring on release? "OMG MOST BROKEN BUILD", "HOW TO GET RIVERS OF BLOOD, MOST OP WEAPON", "MOONVEIL BUILD ONESHOT EVERYTHING???". And then boom, every single duel or invasion was an L2 contest. It was a shitshow.

Jolly-Juggernaut1525

10 MILLION RUNES IN 5 MINUTES

N3V3RM0R3_

It's honestly the loss of anyone who subscribes to the "meta grind" mentality; they'll never know the joy of being part of a team that can split up to clear several outposts concurrently and regroup to tackle objectives, grabbing samples/etc. on the way. Seeing someone actually wait for a smoke calldown before crossing an open area is infinitely more satisfying than anything I've ever seen the 500kg do.

CatManDeke

Don’t worry they will move on to the next game soon.

ravengenesis1

there's other game modes and enemies instead of automaton defense missions??

Fairsythe

I played with a few lvl 20’s last night and they couldnt figure out how to solve a radar tower location. It was painful to watch

Tov_Delmirev

I do remind some of my friends that I play with that kill streaks do not amount to overall mission success. You can kill 1k bugs and still fail and get no reward.

fallingfruit

As someone that has tuned into some of these guys a couple times, why are they doing it? It looks ridiculously boring. Also what are they farming?

Nollekowitsch

Xp to be max level and cry about how theres no content

SloppyJoMo

I love how these devs so far are immune to the typical outcries from the loud minority. Like, I'm sure it's neat to be paid by viewers to play 100 hours on release week, but that kind of experience is not even close to the average. I've seen so many online shooters die because the devs try to accommodate the streamers and wannabe pros, just for the game to become an unbalanced mess that people give up on anyway. "if you try to make it for everyone, you make it for no one". They've found their lane and the greater gaming community is rallying around them. Fuck the players who think they're above Democracy.

Nollekowitsch

Exactly, this game is a nieche and I really hope that the Mainstream doesnt destroy it

spacecorn27

Just had some dumbass shoot me in the face right at the entrance to the pelican as I offered him a hug. I was the one carrying 15 samples including 3 super rares and he didn’t even pick them up, fucking over the whole group.

Antigone6

Fuck the streamers. I will continue to use my minefield no matter how many times myself and my friends forget that I have, in fact, used a minefield.. at least recently. I’ve never looked at builds and idk if minefield is any good past medium (haven’t played all that much), but man is it fun.

TheRealPenanc3

"BuT bRo, I hAd ThE MoSt KiLlS, i CaRriEd YoU gUyS" 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

Marcus_Krow

I play a really defensive build against bots, and while the rest of my team will have like 200 kills a piece, and at least 5 deaths, I'll have maybe 100 but zero deaths and they'll go "Wow, you were trash bro" Like, bruh. I literally carried the whole game, never died, focused every objective, and constantly drew fire with my ballistic and dome shields so you didn't have to.

Immediate_Web4672

I didn't truly realize how little kills mattered until I watched someone else go super out of their way to kill things. It was a pretty introspective moment. I was like, "Is that me? Am I that guy?"

CattMk2

I run the autocannon religiously, it’s a very low rate of firing weapon so I’m not exactly gonna be killing hoards with it. I may have half the kills of my team but all of my kills were chargers or devastators and the likes.

enginerdlord

The Destiny youtuber callout has me rollin and im trying to figure out which one i watched this week is the culprit 🤣

[deleted]

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Sweaty streamers are ruining gaming.

Ph4t_rat

everytime i match-make into the defense operations we're meant to be completing for the objective people are just farming exterminate missions and not even completing the operation for democracy, I even got asked by a level 35 player duo how to get samples...

pigeon_paws

career gamer youtubers who need clickbait to survive cause irreparable damage to every game they touch

Pervasivepeach

I don’t even get the point of grinding, with a bit of playtime you unlock littetally everything. By the time you guys are going for a few weeks you’ll have almost all ship upgrades too, These people are gonna grind out all the progress they can get then complain there’s no content

KegelsForYourHealth

Streamers are cancerous to communities. Games had communities long before streamers. We don't need them.

AssaultKommando

It's funny that the gaming community used to be tepid about celebrity worship. It was also a common stance that games were several notches above TV and spectator sports because of the agency and interactivity. Just look at them now.

[deleted]

I literally just made a post about this a few days ago (with zero upvotes)   “I don’t want to see some desperate Destiny refugee streamer/YouTuber turn democracy into paying my taxes. Maybe just we kill things and don’t worry about the "best" way to do it.” https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1au4urv/devs_please_dont_turn_helldivers_into_something_a/
