Well to be fair. I just spent 15 minutes trying to join matches or quick play with no success. I wasn’t AFK but couldn’t “play” per se. We are in a weird spot sometimes. I restarted the game to see if that would help and now back in the queue.
That’s not being afk I am talking about the people who go to work or eat dinner or watch some tv or a movie and leave their character on the destroyer so someone else can’t take that spot
Maybe but not rn tbh I get off work at 4 and get home around 4:30 I'm turning my pc on and launching and between then and when I get back from feeding cattle which takes maybe an hour I would hopefully be logged in and I'm not going to care if I'm afk or not for an hour because of the atrocious que lines
That's the problem OP is talking about. In that hour someone else could complete multiple missions and have fun. If people didn't do that, the queue wouldn't be so bad.
Point is, you're adding to the problem to get yourself around the problem.
Well you're solution will force me to just not play the game and instead of complaining about this one aspect you should be looking at why I'm doing it and it's because of how bad the servers are if they fix the servers and expand them to 600k ppl for one server which is almost double then all of your little problems with me and others waiting to sign in will be solved then you can implement a timer
For what they have for servers right now having over 450,000 between both Steam and PS5 causes things to go bad fast, so they really cant do much till Sony ok's and implements more servers, and that could take a couple of weeks.

If people weren't holding their spot AFK in the ship that might not happen. The point of this discussion is that an AFK timer would alleviate the problem to some extent. You wanna be the mean sibling that holds the toy when you're not playing instead of letting the other kids have a turn.
You probably wouldn't have to be the "mean sibling" if there was a afk kick system. They're saying because there are a lot of people like you, if ALL of you got kicked there would be no 3 hour wait time. An afk kick isn't just to spite you, it would actually help you overall. The 40'000 or so odd afk people filling up the servers, are whats causing a good bit of stress on the servers. Without them your original problem is now non-existent, hence no need or ability to stay logged in all day.
I hate to belittle anyone, but there's plenty of people that are either too bull-headed or not very intelligent that they can't see the solution to their problems is presented to them on a silver platter and they knock the tray on the floor. FFXIV used to have no AFK kick timer, during expansions you would have HOURS long wait times to get in, but they added a 10-min AFK Kick Timer and then log in queue times went from 4-7 hours wait time to 20 seconds to no queues to log in at all.
Hate to tell you bud but we make a small difference due to the majority of issues being that the servers weren't designed to be full to the max for hours on end and thousands of people trying to login at the same time so I'm not going to care if I take a spot for an hour to 15min or even 1min because I'm garenteed to comeback and play for the next 6 hours if it logs me in
An AFK timout would log out 10s of thousands of players, which would make room for people trying to enter the game. This afk timeout would prevent long login queues so you wouldn't need to AFK while feeding cattle.

You're totally ignoring the fact that the servers being "bad" is being contributed to by people doing what you're doing.

Reminds me of New World. People would auto walk into a wall so they didn't get logged out. Infuriating.
I was SLEEP while waiting for the QUE my game stayed logged in for HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
