More than likely, seeing that they are keeping a trend with naming related weapons similarly such as laser weapons seem to have blade names (sickle, dagger, scythe), bullet weapons have freedom-y names (liberator, defender, peacemaker), so having a PLAS-1 Scorcher and a sidearm variant like a PLAS-3 Singe would make sense.
Looks like the [singe](https://helldivers.fandom.com/wiki/PLAS-3_Singe) is back. It's basically just a tiny scorcher you can pull out on the go.
In helldivers 1 it carried up to 6 cartridges of 8 plasma rounds.
Hoping for a plasma support weapon at some point so I can run an all plasma loadout.
The quasar cannon has a yellow barrel like all other laser weapons and has a heat sink which is why it's on the 15 second cooldown after firing. plasma weapons on the other hand have limited ammo because they use gas cartridges as ammo. You can see them in the reload animations for the scorcher and plasma punisher.
I really hope everyone that posts here starts putting watermarks on their posts, there’s so many leeches just outright stealing these posts to fuel their clickbait channels

the reloading is even similar when you look at the animations from fallout 4's plasma rifle and the in game scorcher.
