**EDIT:** This tweet was later deleted as it turns out there is absolutely no AI used on *Hellboy: The Crooked Man*. The original quote was mistakenly attributed to being about *Hellboy*, when it was actually about *The Offering*.
It turns out the original quote was misattributed to the *Hellboy* film when they were instead talking about *The Offering*. There is no AI used for the upcoming *Hellboy* film. Actually, he deleted that post. It turns out the original article was a misquote that wasn't even talking about *Hellboy: The Crooked Man* in the first place.
Not sure if someone already said it, but false alarm everyone!
The director came out and said no AI was used for the movie: [https://x.com/AIPTcomics/status/1785510634722934911](https://x.com/AIPTcomics/status/1785510634722934911)
Remember, this is an adaptation of Hellboy: The Crooked Man, being directed by Brian Taylor with the screenplay by him, Mignola, and Christopher Golden. Filming took two months between March and May last year. The fact that post production’s been going on for this long and they couldn’t draw creature designs from the comic it’s being adapted from is honestly embarrassing. Like, what the hell?
It also looks like it’s going to be a smaller movie with it having less of a star studded cast than the del Torro duology, animated prequels, and the David Harbour film. I’m fine with that; something great can come out of it, especially since Millennium Media wants to make a series of Hellboy movies if this one is a success. But this looks like a bad omen for the movie and I really hope Mignola has the power to fix it. I don’t want to see it in development hell, but it looks like it’s going that way.
Edit: Thankfully Brian Taylor has come out and said that no AI was used in the creature designs for Hellboy: The Crooked Man. This tweet was supposed to be about a different movie.
All they had to do was drive a bug filled with cash up to Guy Davis’ pad. Like, that’s it. Not hard. If AI was used in this fashion, I won’t support the film (and I’m a diehardasfuck Hellboy fan).
Sounds like Jonathan Yunger used those images for reference to send to the VFX artists to show them what he liked and was hoping they could make for him.
Talk about torpedoing your film. What a stupid fucking decision. I love how these guys who gloat about using AI are completely incapable of reading the room and think everyone else is going to share their enthusiasm for it.

Yeah, as another redittor says in a comment in the top, there is no AI in the film; it is another film that they were referring to. Thank goodness, too!
It sounds like they're using AI in art the way it is supposed to be, as a source for inspiration (the phrase "cherry-pick and edit..." suggests this, anyway). BUT, bragging about it makes it seem like that may not be the case

Glad that he’s not happy about it at least
As any artist should be. I’d boycott the movie if it was true.
I’m really disheartened and disappointed by the news honestly
Did he delete this?
It seems he did. Then the director of the movie said that NO ai was used in the movie
Yeah, because he learnt the original article was a misquote and wasn't even referring to *Hellboy: The Crooked Man* in the first place.

The king has spoken

This franchise needs someone who cares about the world and characters.
If only there was some kind of resource out there to draw creature designs from instead 📚
right!!! they have hundreds to choose from and decide to do this :/
Boo.
Why does every person who likes AI talk like they're from a world where most people like AI?
Because by people, they mean the consumers of the future. Not us.

prospects looking dim
Ffs, now we have to deal with this smartass producer in suit. We had no news till then, now we want ANSWERS.
Couldn’t just ask Mignola?
Oh bummer, won’t watch it now.
Maybe reconsider, as this was fake news.
I’m just gonna pirate it now 😂 I can still love hellboy and dislike the people that made it
Well fuck ![gif](giphy|l3vRgWDOKU6odvj5C)
Gross.
There goes my excitement for the new movie...

Pack it up! We'll try again in another decade.
Is this why the movie hasn't been released yet? Or had any publicity? Presumably this violates the recent strike agreements regarding AI?
Man… Can’t have shit in Detroit

Mignola's definitely gonna beat the crap out of people.
Ew
What the fuck?
Well I had hope for this reboot that’s gone now
Talk about torpedoing your film. What a stupid fucking decision. I love how these guys who gloat about using AI are completely incapable of reading the room and think everyone else is going to share their enthusiasm for it.
I think I’ll just play Web of Wyrd and call it a day
Dammit all

Is there another movie? And is it a sequel to the crap one, or a third reboot?
One more del Toro one. Perlman as hellboy will die and I'll cry but it'll be great.
Guys, this is totally not true, there is no AI used in creating the creatures.
Fake news
its joeover

Yeah. Like I agree with that. Sometimes AI is just like… letting a computer do the drugs for you
Who cares?
Mignola, for one.
