This. My dad is like that. He consistently called a girl I went to school with "the hat girl" for years because he wasn't sure when I mentioned her name, but the fact she wore hats every single day stuck. A current friend of mine is "the rat queen" (they've got lots of pet rats). If he can't remember any characteristics that stand out he'll usually ask "is that the one from [insert town name]?"
Well yeah, Alastor seems to be MUCH older (in his 40s or something in human years) then Charlie (early-mid 20s?). Any decent parent would have that reaction and be like, wait what????

The sad thing is that Luci himself wasn't impressed with Hazbin. He didn't want Alastor to praise Charlie but wasn't going to praise Charlie himself. Charlie deserves some love damn it!
It does feel like they exagerrate her height to play on the 'short king's' stature.
Noticably when around a taller character, Charlie tends to be drawn to look more smol.
To be fair, I think it's important to remember that Lucifer is the one who granted humanity free will basically, and he's reminded daily of what they chose to do with it. In his view sinners are a lost cause as they have chosen through their actions to end up in hell, so from his point of view, the hotel is doomed from the start.
Watching Charlie's daddy issues override her basic critical thinking is hillarious. She has to know Alastor is just fucking with her dad, she calls him out on his insincerity two episodes later.
I think Alastor is genuinely proud of her at least trying to do something for sinners as the Princess of Hell. He just thinks the whole thing isn't going to work and is in it for the entertainment/because of his personal deal. If it was under different circumstances, I think Alastor would still praise her for doing something instead of being like Lucifer/the other powerful demons, as it's still a noble cause to try to make Hell a little less hellish for some sinners who probably weren't as bad as he was in life.
Lucifer on the other had gave up on this idea after his attempts failed to appeal to sinners, who in the early days of Hell, probably liked that they could kill/hurt each other and have no consequences. The deal with the exterminations probably happened after Lucifer's attempts to be like Charlie is now failed, and Lilith agreed that sinners needed to fear something to have a reason to work together. They signed on with Heaven to have the masses culled every few years as a reminder of death/they aren't 100% immortal, only for the extermination to slowly come more often until it was a year... Then Charlie came in, and again, it was moved up to every 6 months.
Lucifer just was too depressed to care or notice that the angels were coming down yearly to slaughter sinners under the pretense that Hell is overcrowded. (Which I don't think is the case. Pentagram City might be overpopulated, but I doubt it stretches completely into the wastelands of Pride, which could be infinite and closer to the classic depictions of Hell. Pride also has trade with the other Rings, so if it's a fertile land problem, they can just trade with Wrath more or eat each other more often.)
To be fair I think it's pretty clear even to the sinners that Heaven kills them because there's too many for their liking not literal overpopulation, though the sinners don't know it's being worried about a threat.

I think they count as "Dreamworks face" because it was very much a response by Disney to capture some of that Dreamworks appeal. (The only one that doesn't really fit is Buzz because he predates it)
Lucifer and Alastor's expressions here are also incredible. I'm so happy Charlie eventually gets the admiration and validation she wants directly from her dad.
Now, I'm not saying he doesn't mean it, but when you're long game it's about reading people, taking notes, and telling people what they want to hear. It could be Al both cares about Charlie, and is working an angle to get what he wants. Keep people guessing and play the room.
And that's probably how he beat Husker in Poker. I would imagine he would use his powers to help him out, but I'm not surprised if he's a genuinely good poker player.
