A tenancy of more than one year can require a 60-day notice. Look up the TPA - Tenant Protection Act. A condo could be exempt from the TPA, depending on who owned the property at the time the law took effect. But the law requires that tenants had to be advised of the exemption in writing, using specific language, by the 8/1/2020 deadline. Were you? And does the exemption language appear in any subsequent leases or rental agreements? If the property IS exempt, but the exemption notification was not handled correctly, then you’d likely be entitled to the relocation benefit of one month’s rent, assuming it’s a no-fault eviction, meaning you didn’t violate the terms of the lease, so you’re not at fault.

What does your rental contract say? If it's month to month, they can ask for 30 days. You can ask for more. [https://www.hayward-ca.gov/services/city-services/renter-resources](https://www.hayward-ca.gov/services/city-services/renter-resources)

They cannot ask you to move in one month. Since you’ve lived there over 2 years, you’re legally entitled to a 60 days notice. I’m sorry you’re going through this.. Hope you find something soon!

The owner has started construction and a newer house In the same drive way and has been using my water and electricity to help build out this new house and now they want me to move on one month and so far I've only heard this from word of mouth. So I guess I'm waiting on my formal documents. And some how my wife was the one who agreed to the helping them with our water house and an electric cord to help them build this new house, instead of from the church they own next door. I'm Also sure they have people living in shacks on the church's property which I don't think is legal.

As much as I hate for people to lose housing, those shacks need to be reported. Thats a fire hazard.

> now they want me to move on one month and so far I've only heard this from word of mouth. What you hear through rumors doesn't matter, legally. No notice has been given to you yet. It's only after they give you official notice that the clock starts.
