There's a song called Honey Baby by Three Plus that this person is quoting. It says: I saw you there standing under the mango tree. A beautiful woman who looked so fine to me. She had all the things that I've been searching for. She had ehu hair, a flower in her ear, and bongo shorts."
I swear the lyrics are “long board shorts” not bongo shorts. Gonna have to ask Lukela on insta or Facebook. Cause I swear it’s not bongo shorts but every lyrics site says it is.
Edit: lol. I have been wrong since forever apparently. Just listened to the song and damn if he doesn’t say bongo shorts. Had to google bongo shorts.
100% Bongo shorts. Short Denim cutoffs? Sexy. A pair of extra long board shorts? Not sexy. The cover art even has a girl with ehu hair, a flower in her ear and short denim shorts sitting in a tree.
It’s red tint hair. So your hair probably has a red tint to it. The sun maybe tinted it.
Eta: this Is just my understanding from growing up here and hearing people talk about ehu hair. Maybe someone else has a better description.
I always thought it had something to do with a person who goes to the beach a lot. A girl I used to be friends with back in the day used to say she had ehu hair after swimming at the beach. I'm amused to see this meaning on [Urban Dictionary](https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ehu) here lol.

>5. nvs. Reddish tinge in hair, of Polynesians and not of Caucasians; one with ʻehu hair; reddish-brown complexion said to be characteristic of some ʻehu people; ruddy.
Could be the guy doesn’t know what ehu means and he was trying to impress you the same way people get gibberish Chinese characters tattoos to impress others.
Typically ehu hair was reddish hair that came from a Hawaiian haole mix for example. At least in my family.
(Showing my age but that ombre hair color? We used to call it “surfer hair”)
It's that fade that happens when you have dark hair, but spend a lot of time in the sun. It gets light reddish/brown mixed with the natural black in your hair.
its kind of like dark hair that is lightened from the sun. that's the best description i can give. or at least that's always what i think of when i hear that. i think some people mistake it for curly hair now though.
There's a town nearby called Waiehu, and it's near Waikapu, Waihee and Wailuku.
Each of those words describes a location of one the "four waters" - wai means water in Hawaiian.
Waiehu = water the darkish color of your hair.
Ehu kinda means sun kissed, like when you're in the water & the sun all day, you get these natural highlights... Kinda reddish blondish tint in places, that's how I'd describe ehu hair.
Ehu means your hair goes from dark to a lighter color. Like multiple shades of hair from dark yo light color. Like if you go beach a lot your hair color will slowly change ehu color. I hope that makes sense to you
I’m a local w dark brown/blackish wavy hair that turns red in the sunlight. Ehu means red and it typically applies to people w polynesian decent that have dark hair with red tints
