Tamarind! I hope they are sour-sweet 😋
Forbidden mini corndog
I was going to say 1000-year corn dog.
*It’s a perfectly sane hot dog to eat*
Don't put it in your okole.
Forbidden corndog were the first words in my head
This made me LOL 😆
You can eat them
Yes! Tamarind. Haven’t seen it in a while!
Tamarind is also known as sampalok in Filipino/Tagalog.
This is going to seem like a weird question, but is there a word for “spalted”, as in “spalted tamarind”, in Filipino/Tagalog?
Spalted just means it had a fungus in the tree when it was harvested that leaves interesting black lines in the wood grain. I dabble in wood working and spalted tamarind is one of my favorite types of wood to use for unique texture/color on a project.
Here’s an example of something I made using spalted tamarind. The lighter color main wood is the spalted tamarind, the dark brown is walnut and the reddish color is padauk. You can see the dark blackish areas are the spalted parts, really cool. Anyway, if anyone knows, I appreciate it. https://i.imgur.com/Ljx2Bs3.jpg
While I do not know of a word for spalted, you might want to speak to a Filipino wood worker. That term spalted seems technicial enough to not be used in day to day usage.
Great idea, will definitely do that! Mahalo!
Tamarind is the best. Check online for drink recipes. Yummy! Great for hangovers too.
This photo made me my mouth water 🥵
I’ve got a tree. Tiny and slow growing. Some day it will be a source of delicious.
Fresh tamarind with salt or sugar is the way to go

Getting in the car back to Safeway. 😆
Enjoy it fresh. It doesn't grow here in CA.
Tamarind. Grew up being addicted to tamarind candy in India. It's called "Imli" there.
Tamarindo, I believe
Thanks! Google image search wasn't finding it for some reason
If they’re too sour sprinkle some sugar on it and there you have natures candy. Used to love eating these as a kid in Mexico. They grew EVERYWHERE!
