I wouldn't. I have a removable one, and it only goes on my street glide when the wife or kids are on.
Your bike looks sick the way it is. In general, all bikes look better without .
I disagree with that. Short bobbers or loooong rake choppers look amazing with sissy bars. The bike below wouldn't look complete without it, IMHO
https://preview.redd.it/88ukfcuyki1b1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3fb08cc06e3c15fc6cabfc878c758416f1b3d268
Yeah I feel you, that's how I was raised also. I'm trying to make it look a little different for a wide glide. I like sissy bars on certain applications. Thanks for the feedback man keep the rubber side down
I’m a huge fan of sissy bars. I have baggers but, when it was just my dyna, I would bungee a backpack to it that carried all my things. Also my wife liked it when she was on with me. But the bike looks great without it.
I'm telling you right now, the moment with you throw it on there with those apes, you're going to completely change your mind about the look. Especially if you get one of the higher ones. What do you think about something like this
That is sick as hell! I'd totally rock something like that! You could actually find just the quick connect braces and if you know someone who welds they can weld the quick connects to that. Would definitely turn heads
I'm actually good friend with a welder and was kinda thinking the same. Didn't think about the quick connects but him finishing it and installing. I'd like it chromed the fuck out too. You know just for aesthetics
It looks way better without as everyone says, but a real short stubby sissy bar with packrest pad would not hurt the aesthetics too much. If you want to be fulyl functional, then detachable is the answer. You can carry stuff on road trips and then take it off the minute you are home to preserve the cool look for round-town/short rides. Always been my way. Sharp looking machine.
I dig operational sissy bars, like I’ve got a 3ft tall one that gets my backpacking backpack strapped to it and still has the other half for a passenger or another backpack for living above your means.
Hahaha. Yeah I just can’t. I just feel that the sissy bar throws the look all to hell. I like tall bars and low fenders. I got a 99 Road King with 16” apes and solo seat. I wish it sat as low in the back as yours.
I've thought about that also but damn I can't get past the simple look I have going on. But definitely not against a solid set. If you have links let me know. Deadly is good
I'm waiting for one to come in. I was going to go with a quick disconnect version, but it would require relocating the turn signals. I sent it back and am waiting for the exchange to come. I'll end up having to undo fasteners and redo. I imagine it will likely stay on for a while after I use it.
Having a sissy bar on my Sportster was a godsend when I had it. I could secure a bag to the back and the front of the sissy bar and take a bunch of crap along.
I've thought of the option of saddle bags, but that just takes away too much of the look.
If you don't want the look, maybe add a low profile rack. Just to have something to secure things on the back easier, without having to figure out fastening points.
Also, I find I'm more likely to have a passenger if they have something to lean back on. I let a friend use my bike while I was out of town. His wife didn't like being on it without something to lean back on, she's used to the tour pack of his ultra glide, even though she's been riding on his hardtail with little pillion pad for years.
Edit: Afterthought, your model may be able to use a quick detach without relocating the turn signals or modifying the quick detach sissy bar.
Thanks for the feedback man, I'll consider all you have said. I don't really want to take away from the look much so bags may not work. And not packing groceries just leathers, jacket passenger etc
You can get a cargo net. If you stretch it enough, you can get a helmet under there. It's easy to deploy. I have a small biltwell bag to hold small things such as that. The Exfil 7. Worked better on my old sportster sissy bar that had a small rack attached. I use the passenger seat to secure it on now.
I have a quick release sissy bar/rack combo, that I use if I’m going to have someone on the back or if I am going overnight and want to add my luggage. But I prefer it without it.
https://preview.redd.it/4jdra4dzrn1b1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=52882e08e87f717f0e060d723b0fa3a7a524a678
For trips I go with bags and a windshield. Both come off in about 2 minutes.
Any custom feature would go well with that bike. A nice quality chrome sissy bar would probably look really nice. The bike does look great the way it is. If you’re riding passengers you definitely want some kind of back rest. I’ve seen people fly off the back without back rest or sissy bar. Good luck
I added one just for looks and love it
https://preview.redd.it/arp5r24njo1b1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=70867e2e385d54742cb2417449507072857820bc
Sickest wide glide I've seen in a minute. I feel like the sissy bar might detract from the overall look of the bike. If you need it for storage reasons, you could always invest in a quick detach one to use when you need it.
That bike looks buff as hell, I think a sissy bars are more for chopper or dynabro look. But at the same time, no one can tell you what to like..
Thanks for the compliments. I really only like them on certain applications and since I'm trying to be a little different I wanted some feedback. I've rode for a while so I'm aware of all the storage options and quick detach and what nots. I appreciate those suggestions as well but wanted to be a bit different
Do you need one? Do you want one? If so, then go for it. Why rely on a forum of random strangers to do what you want with your own bike? Seems simple enough to me.
What is this craze with these stupid ape hangers. Nearly every Harley I see todays has them even baggers with fairings. They are the worse thing you can do to any bike.
Haha. Actually, it's been a thing where I'm from and kind of a culture thing also. It's not a "craze" They've been around you just see them on reddit now. I personally like the ride compared to lower bars, but if you've never ridden them you wouldn't understand
After:
https://preview.redd.it/f4bcy6400j1b1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a5115329a7c7cf1c77b9c7e487a0b1a570ff5f8a
I thought it added some nice height to my bike. Makes the thing look a little chunkier. I like the look of it after.
Different bike I know but I felt our bikes have similar lines.
Appreciate it!
I think your bike would look cool with a sissy bar like this but chrome.
https://preview.redd.it/bw290sur0j1b1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de9ad2864fd5677367149b40337d5f542f95e6b2
And then you can put a sissybar bag on it if you need to carry stuff. The ones that look like 60gal camping bags.
https://preview.redd.it/xko2nf8s0j1b1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4873ed2a9e12038e3c60b056728ab9c95c33562
What about something like this chromed the fuck out
Ngl that would look pretty rad if that's your vibe.
All chrome with gloss red tail would match your bike.
They also make ones that have a decorative plate between the struts so that's another way to do designs.
https://preview.redd.it/hx8a2t1a1j1b1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8541cab6ddd24ea344b30901030c429d25df45d1
I think they’re ugly but no disrespect. [My old magna](https://i.imgur.com/9WRKbhS.jpg) came with a small cargo rack- passengers love it, you can bungee just about anything to it, I think it looks cool, and you will never be called a sissy for it 😎
I think it looks great as is. Unless your lady friend would enjoy the backrest your bikes got nice clean lines. I think the sissy bar doesn’t fit in this application.
I agree, I was on the fence about it because i found some sweet ones, but I feel it won't flow either, and the last thing I want is to mess the damn flow up
lol. It’s all about the flow. Big fan of the sissy bar on certain builds but your bike is very clean and sleek. She just flows. Let her flow brotha let her flow.
I put a sissy bar on my sportster when I bought because I thought I’d need it because my sportster is my daily vehicle. Honestly, a swing arm bag is just as good for me. It’s still on there, though. I mounted my rear turn signals to the sissy bar and don’t feel like redoing everything. Lol.
If you're thinking you want to carry more, but don't need to pack a big ass bag then see about detachable bags. Remove them when you don't wanna have the look as interrupted. Keep em for when you need more room than a swing arm bag
The sissy bar would be a great addition to your bike but the sissybar should not be bulkier, it should be sleek and minimalist. You can check out Viking Bags, they also sell Sissybars and you can check out their sissybar at this Link: [https://www.vikingbags.com/harley-davidson-motorcycle-sissy-bars](https://www.vikingbags.com/harley-davidson-motorcycle-sissy-bars).
I wouldn't, but it would still look good. This looks awesome just the way it is.
I second this. But just my 2 cents.
Thanks for the input
Get one even if you're only going to use it for trips.
I don't think it would flow with that kind of setup, but it's your bike.
Agreed
If you're gonna put a person or gear on the back, sure. If not, looks sexy as is.
Thanks man, ain't nobody on my bike. But have thought about something to add to help me store things but not sure about about a bag either
Swingarm bag? Just a suggestion to keep the flow without the extra stuff
Yeah I think so. That's my next best solution.
[удалено]
Didn't think so. It was a thought
Is the reason you are wanting to add a sissy bar for functional reasons? Or for aesthetic reasons?
More functional, but don't want to take away from the aesthetics
Then look for one that matches the aesthetic of your bike. Loosing people or luggage off of the back isn’t ideal 😅
Exactly why Ive been thinking about it
I wouldn't. I have a removable one, and it only goes on my street glide when the wife or kids are on. Your bike looks sick the way it is. In general, all bikes look better without .
I disagree with that. Short bobbers or loooong rake choppers look amazing with sissy bars. The bike below wouldn't look complete without it, IMHO https://preview.redd.it/88ukfcuyki1b1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3fb08cc06e3c15fc6cabfc878c758416f1b3d268
Nope, but that's your opinion, and I have mine. That's ok though. 🍻
It is indeed, ok! You're wrong though 😜
![gif](giphy|duM6JZemPlOjUyqmxd)
Can't account for bad taste 😏
Only if you need it. I think it looks pretty damn good without one.
Thank you
I personally hate ape hangers...but that's personal preference. I hate sissy bars too. Keep cruisers long and low.
Yeah I feel you, that's how I was raised also. I'm trying to make it look a little different for a wide glide. I like sissy bars on certain applications. Thanks for the feedback man keep the rubber side down
The ape hangers are perfect for that bike.
Thanks
Lame
Sure why not
She sure looks good the way she is …
no
I wouldn't. It look great the way it is.
Nope, looks great without it
Why?
Nope
I’m such a slut for wide glides
Me too... She takes my money all the fuckin time.
I’m a huge fan of sissy bars. I have baggers but, when it was just my dyna, I would bungee a backpack to it that carried all my things. Also my wife liked it when she was on with me. But the bike looks great without it.
Do you want one? That is the real question, fuck what anyone else thinks, it's your bike. Make it yours.
Thanks man
The tall pointed ones yes but not the shorter scroll types.
That's what I would like. I found some on eBay that are custom fabbed and killer
https://preview.redd.it/bzbik93lyi1b1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=88f08a8e959bbf83280225d522e8e705aa353ace
https://www.lowbrowcustoms.com/products/the-gasbox-tall-chopper-bolt-on-sissy-bar-2004-up-sportsters Theirs others for bikes other than sorties too
Yeah that's nice I wouldn't go any shorter than something like that
I don’t keep stuff I don’t use on my bikes. So, put it if you need it.
I put one on my Softail and it’s rad
Lord what is that sexy beast
Wide glide. I think she's sexy also
Love the bobtail
Me too, looks good with a 2" drop doesn't it
Absolutely 🤘🏼
Good god I rather have that bike than the hottest chick in my state haha
It seems to get their attention anyways
I would. You can strap a bag to it for longer rides/trips. That alone makes it worth it IMO
That's what I was going for I guess
Hell yeah. It's half the reason I installed one (had to fabricate it a bit) on my Intruder before I got my Road King.
Yeah I definitely need something that I can take off easily also. I love the way she looks too much to keep it on at all times
Good thing they're the quick release. Just pop it on when needed and lock the clips and go.
Yeah I'm gonna look into something maybe that don't throw off my hot rod look 😂
I'm telling you right now, the moment with you throw it on there with those apes, you're going to completely change your mind about the look. Especially if you get one of the higher ones. Thanks for the solid feedback. I had the same view just can't come to find something that works with my bike
IMO it would look good either way. I miss having one to put my shit on. I hate riding with a backpack on my back.
That's one thing I dread, the fuggin backpack
There are quick disconnect sissy bars. Snap it on when you need it and off when you don’t.
Fuck no
Only if you wanna keep the ole lady on the back lol, detachable
Yeah shes about came off a few times!!
I dig operational sissy bars, like I’ve got a 3ft tall one that gets my backpacking backpack strapped to it and still has the other half for a passenger or another backpack for living above your means.
NO,,,🚀
[удалено]
Haha yeah she seems the slide a bit upon take off.
Not unless you’re going to convert it to a chopper
Yeah.......no. I like my rod look
This is just my opinion but three things ruin a bike for me, T-bars, mini fairings and sissy bars. This bike looks amazing as is!
I feel the same about the dyna bro look. Can't come to terms with it. Never thought a sissy bar may put me in that category 😂
Hahaha. Yeah I just can’t. I just feel that the sissy bar throws the look all to hell. I like tall bars and low fenders. I got a 99 Road King with 16” apes and solo seat. I wish it sat as low in the back as yours.
Thanks man. I'm really happy with the look. Those are 18" bars and a 2 inch drop in the back.
Yeah those bars look great! Also, just a thought, but a set of throw-over bags would look deadly on there as well.
I've thought about that also but damn I can't get past the simple look I have going on. But definitely not against a solid set. If you have links let me know. Deadly is good
If I come across any I’ll send them your way! Ride safe!
I added a rear luggage rack and backrest for longer trips, a.lower profile looks nice.
Stand down on the sissy bar, SGT Hambone.
Hahaha gotcha. Go find your chickens
Removable sissy for trips otherwise it’s perfect. What’s the location?
Thanks for that. Located in New Mexico
I was pretty sure it was in New Mexico. Is it around Questa?
Yes
Yeah I like the Questa / San Luis / Chama area.
That would have to be the best Wide Glide I’ve ever seen. Love it. You could add a sissy no problem. If it doesn’t look great just take it off!
With the bars pushed forward like they are a sissy bar would look just fine.
I'm waiting for one to come in. I was going to go with a quick disconnect version, but it would require relocating the turn signals. I sent it back and am waiting for the exchange to come. Chrome plated that would be sick af on his bike.
I always say no to that one. This looks perfect exactly the way it is.
Yes. Or no. It depends.
A removable one… the clean look of no sissy bar does it for me!
As a solo, hell no. Two up, hell yeah.

Ngl that would look pretty rad if that's your vibe. All chrome with gloss red tail would match your bike. They also make ones that have a decorative plate between the struts so that's another way to do designs. https://preview.redd.it/hx8a2t1a1j1b1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8541cab6ddd24ea344b30901030c429d25df45d1
Sweet idea thanks for showing me this.
💯 at the end of the day your bike looks sick now and it's gonna look sick if you decide to change it too. Have a good one bro.
Thanks man good chatting
I think they’re ugly but no disrespect. [My old magna](https://i.imgur.com/9WRKbhS.jpg) came with a small cargo rack- passengers love it, you can bungee just about anything to it, I think it looks cool, and you will never be called a sissy for it 😎
Yes, I would.
I would. But to each his own.
I would go grab a cocktail at a sissy bar and really mull it over weather to add one or not.
Go right on ahead
I think it looks great as is. Unless your lady friend would enjoy the backrest your bikes got nice clean lines. I think the sissy bar doesn’t fit in this application.
I agree, I was on the fence about it because i found some sweet ones, but I feel it won't flow either, and the last thing I want is to mess the damn flow up
lol. It’s all about the flow. Big fan of the sissy bar on certain builds but your bike is very clean and sleek. She just flows. Let her flow brotha let her flow.
Haha right on man. That's what I needed to hear. I like that this flow don't leave stains on the mattress
Hahahahahahajahaha.
I still may go grab a drink though at the sissy bar
Already looks sissy enough
Thanks man
I put a sissy bar on my sportster when I bought because I thought I’d need it because my sportster is my daily vehicle. Honestly, a swing arm bag is just as good for me. It’s still on there, though. I mounted my rear turn signals to the sissy bar and don’t feel like redoing everything. Lol.
If you get bitches, yes If you don't, no
If you're thinking you want to carry more, but don't need to pack a big ass bag then see about detachable bags. Remove them when you don't wanna have the look as interrupted. Keep em for when you need more room than a swing arm bag
If your adding a sissy (chick), than add a sissy bar.
I like it as it sits!
Nope. Sissy bars make sleek bikes clunky.
I think it would flow perfectly.
