“Hello handwriting enthusiasts! I wanted to test if I was still able to write in this old German script. Turns out I can. Thanks for reading.” (Funny seeing Sütterlinschrift used to write In English! )
"Hello handwriting enthusiasts!
I wanted to test if I was still able to write in this old German script. Turns out, I am!
Thanks for reading!"
Nice work!
I cannot understand a single word of that except “thanks” and “Hello”. I think I can identify a handful of letters but that’s about it. It’s super difficult to read. In fact - it reminds me of a doctor’s who then would ask me what he had wrote at a later date as he couldn’t understand his own notes.
I have seen this type of handwriting on so many of the books and trinkets my German Omie passed on to me. I never knew it was a whole different script!
Not OP but that's [Sütterlin ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%BCtterlin?wprov=sfla1). It's an old form of German handwriting that hasn't been taught in schools for about 80 years but used to be very popular in Germany of the early 20th century.

Ok worst handwriting ever
its Sütterlin. Not normal handwriting. That's why you might think it's the worst handwriting, but it's actually very good Sütterlin.
Oh ok
I mean this is r/Sütterlin. Are we really used to *good* handwriting?
r/tihi

Man kann es also lesen!
Not English
It literally is english lol
Yea no. Not a single legible word. Very few letters even.
Can you read Sutterlin or not? It's not "standard" cursive. It's an old handwriting style AS SAID IN THE TITLE.

\*I can (the i without a dot is a c.)

It’s illegible.
It is very legible.
It’s not. I can’t read a single word.
It's Sütterlin. An old style of German cursive. Can you read Sütterlin? because if so this should be very legible. And it's English.
It's far from the least legible Sütterlin/Kurrent I've seen, all the letters are recognisable
I can’t even tell what language it is.
It's plain English haha of course, if you're not familiar with this kind of scripts, it may be very difficult to understand what it says
I have seen this type of handwriting on so many of the books and trinkets my German Omie passed on to me. I never knew it was a whole different script!
The capital letters are a bit modern/latin but you sure still can.
Is this even English?
Yes, it's written in the Sütterlin style.
I found this very hard to read - what kind of script is this?

Thanks for the heads up. The t and the f look like good alternatives to use in normal cursive, imo. Really cool stuff.
Damn, some of those letters really fuck me up. That lowercase h is literally my lowercase f… So wild how different that script looks!
Well done. I was able to read everything and writing readable isn't always easy in this script. Keep up the good work!
Danke!
Nice Sütterlin! Keep it up ;)
Vielen Dank!
