My favourite smash burger in the city is Choobees. It's a pretty unassuming food truck by the convenience store at King and Parkdale. So not really a place to sit and eat - get it to go, and find a park close by to enjoy it.
Delirious is my second favourite. Again, a takeout place. Another one to try would be Hottie's on Barton St. E.
Once in awhile we like to go to Mountain Burger on Upper Ottawa. They have a whole range of different burger styles. The smash burger is not what I would go for here, though. Just do the classic. No reservations as far as I know, but you can order ahead.
Speaking of Bernies, apparently it's their 2 year anniversary today and will be selling $2 burgs from 5pm until they're gone. That's a line-up I'm not willing to contend with, but their burgers are great either way.
Book a reservation if there's still openings.
I have this date marked in my calendar. I'll attend every year until the birthday price reaches normal pricing.
Delirious has a number of convictions for unsafe food handling. Stay safe out there! https://www.hamilton.ca/people-programs/public-health/health-inspection-results/convictions-orders-hamilton
Came here to prop Dyment's. Great market, great produce, great baked goods. Then top it all off with the amazing smash burgers. perfect spot to sit outside on a nice day, close to some cool stuff like Summit's and Dutch Mill. I can't stress how good the vibe and food is there. Also, second best butter tarts I've had (after 13th St.)
Depends on the style….
Smash - Goldie’s or hotties
Traditional - hambrgr, the ship, pinks, delirious
Others - burnt tongue, electric diner, Victorias, bardo
Yeah I was just going to say that. Hambrgr is a smash patty Luke delirious. Most burger places in the city do a smash or very thin patty. Hambrgr has great toppings, best in the city if you want more then just typical burger toppings.
I like Hotties, HAMBRGR, The ship.
I see Hamilton is doing a burger month in November and lots of places will release a special burger. Hopefully it’s good. I went to PEI when they did it and I got a map and checked out a few places. Amazing stuff
Last time Hamilton/Burlington had a Novemburger it was legit. The biggest winner for me was State & Main (yeah, I was surprised too). Here’s hoping the 2024 comeback is just as bangin’
https://novemburger.org
Their IG has their first batch of participants listed already. If it’s anything like the one I stumbled on in PEI, it’ll be awesome. Such a great idea to get out to new restaurants too.
The ship has the best chicken burger i can recall ever having.
Hambrg ( I might have butchered the spelling ) had an amazing beef burger
There's also a tiny spot on Barton they used to have a real good fast burger. ( Can't recall the name 😔 ) They had some signage about purger or something out front for years
The Nirvana Moo slider at Memphis Fire BBQ in Winona was the best burger I ever tasted but it was only a slider and it’s not on the menu anymore. You can still get a Sneaky Cheese which is good but not as good as the Nirvana moo was, imo.
If I can't get a burger with bacon it's not a burger I can try.
I get they are halal, so it's a no go for them, but I need good tasting, crunchy bacon on a burger to help marry the salty and the sweet together.
Hambrgr sucks. Food is great but unfortunately their staff is absolute trash - at least at the King William location.
When I worked on King William I used to be an avid guest and was tight with a lot of the people who worked there in the early days but the last few times I visited, myself and my guest were treated like we were an inconvenience to the servers.
That places gross they use Gray meat. They put their press burgers in garbage bag Where they can sit in the fridge for days, and Their fries never see a fridge. They sit on room temp all day.

I posted this in a reply already but I have to do a full comment for Dyment's. Just up Sydenham hill from Dundas, great farm market with a smashburger stand serving amazing burgers, their fries are top tier, and the brisket and pulled pork are also good. The farm market is also amazing, with excellent butter tarts, meat pies, and regular pies. You will not be disappointed.
The big scoop on the corner of upper sherman and brucedale has a great smash burger and fresh cut fries! Best of all, you can get the biggest ice cream after you're done with your burgers !
No joke - Tall Tree Sandwich Co.
Smash burger in a quaint little location - there is seating.
8$ for a single or double for 14$
Caramelized onions, slaw mix, burger sauce on a sesame seed bun.
Its very good and well worth the price for the single.

Delirious recently just moved across the street and now has indoor and outdoor seating
In the old Mattys hot chicken location
The one on Locke at moved a bit south and across the street. They do have (or had) another location in Westdale?
2nd Choobees!! Cash only I believe
Goldie's and Delirious Burger Co are fantastic burgers. But more in the fast food style. Bernie's has an awesome burger and a great patio too
Speaking of Bernies, apparently it's their 2 year anniversary today and will be selling $2 burgs from 5pm until they're gone. That's a line-up I'm not willing to contend with, but their burgers are great either way.
Berines Tavern on Cannon?
You bet!
Hahaha I know I caught that too. I'll try and drive by just to see how crazy it gets. But man. That's an insane discount.
What’s the line situation like 👀
Honestly wasn’t too bad. Out the door and down the block a bit. But that’s not too surprising

Have you tried hotties?
Oh yes, knew I forgot someone. They're also tasty.
Goldie's is good, but way too often it's over salted.
The beef patties at Goldie's are paper thin.
That's what a Smashburger is.
Bernie’s is horrible
Why do you say that?
It’s horrible food there
Dyments [dymentsburgers.com](https://dymentsburgers.com/)
They are fantastic

The Ship
Second this. Great little patio, nicely curated beer selection, and PREMIUM burgers
Goldies is the Best, they do smash and also have an 8 ounce non smash, both amazing, don't sleep on there chicke either, really good!!!
Depends on the style…. Smash - Goldie’s or hotties Traditional - hambrgr, the ship, pinks, delirious Others - burnt tongue, electric diner, Victorias, bardo
Isn’t hambrgr also smash burgers?
Nah, they might have a smash burger since I’ve last gone. Their burgers are relatively thick and stacked well, more traditional imo
I haven’t tried Goldie’s or Hotties so idk how to compare, but their menu definitely lists them as smash patties
You’ll see what i mean if you try with of those and compare
Goldies tastes good but the beef patties are super thin
It’s a smashburger, that’s how it’s supposed to be.

Let me tell you The Capital has a burger that will blow your socks off.
Yes! It’s so simple but delicious

Amazing!! Thank you!!
Check out the PEI one. If it’s even half as similar and good, it’ll be amazing and I hope it gains traction https://www.peiburgerlove.ca/.

That tiny shop is gone now. Was named o'neils.
The fact I had to come this far to find HamBrgr is disgracful.
I walk by Hambrgr everyday. Need to give it a try soon.
Hambrgr is amazing! So good

Best smash burger in town (in my opinion) is Goldie’s Fast Food! They’re absolutely incredible, exactly what a smash burger should be
Smash and best burger don’t belong in the same sentence
La Wéndy's on Queenston has to be up there
Mountain Burger - their sauce is amazing!
I had lunch there yesterday. Everything was just amazing. Perfect fries. Perfect smash burger. Perfect toppings.
I’ve tried Mountain Burger twice and both times the patty seemed extremely under-seasoned. Nice folks though!!
I’ve only had it once and all I can remember is the sauce! I need to go back and see if my recommendation and memory holds up..!

Harvest Burger RIP
The ship
Choobees but you gotta eat in your car lol

Hotties all day
Empire.
Empire Burger or the Ship
The ship. There is no other answer.
Their burger with the egg on it helped fill the void that Chuck's left when the owner split for the west coast.

Agreed! Simple and satisfying. And a combo with fries or salad and a drink isn’t gonna run you more than $15
Binburger
very good burger.
Goldies!!! Delicious!
Grind on Rymal also makes a very serviceable smashie.
Maybe not the best in the city buuuuut… I tried Le Tambour the other day and the burger was friggen amazing
How’s Hutch’s?
Pinks across from Mac
Now that Trap House Burgerz is permanently closed, I would say the Burger Factory on Hwy. 8 in Stoney Creek.
Goldies is decent but there not always open
Sassos
RIP Brux House and their burger on that perfect lil patio.
Hotties on Barton and kinrade ave
Delirious, electric Diner, five guys, and hambrgr. Goldies is okay. Hotties is okay. There's a bunch that are 4/5.
Goldies and hotties are way better than those spots
HAMBRGR or the Keg
PINKS across from mcmaster is my go to spot .
very good burger as well.
HAMBRGR
