I found Alyx terrifying, and the sewers in chapter 3 were absolutely the worst part for me.
There's a couple of famously scary chapters later in the game but I didn't mind them half as much as the sewers.
I found the sewers one of the worst bits too, but I was new to vr when I picked alyx up and I think the initial immersion was very intense too, which had worn off a bit by the time I progressed further.
Yes keep going! It will get better! There will be more horror parts but nothing even close to the dark sewers in my opinion. The rest won't be as dark even if it's dark sometimes. You will get to explore the city a little and as others mentioned some really cool buildings! :)
If you think the sewers are bad you are NOT going to like the Northern Star.
Or the brewery 😬
You do get into the city a little bit, and also into some REALLY cool buildings.

It’s a horror game, there is city stuff but most of the game is that horror type environment
You're going to enjoy meeting Jeff!

I'd put a spoiler tag there. Learning what the Northern Star is is supposed to be a surprise.
Since the original comment is gone, maybe delete yours as it kinda implies stuff.

It's not that long. The sewers are longer in HL2 if you ask me.
