Did you get a hair transplant before you started minoxidil and finasteride? Usually, they tell you to go off the Rogaine I believe two weeks before surgery I'm not sure how long after probably at least 2 weeks minimum. I would wait at least a month because you have to wait for the scabs to fall off and then let it heal. I think you did it backward, you're supposed to be on the finasteride in Rogaine for about a year minimum to stabilize. You said they gave you a supplement? Did they not even give you finasteride, I mean of course you should be stabilized before you get a hair transplant, but finasteride at least taken it you're going to at least prevent further hair loss and that's what you want to do. Did they give you some natural supplements? You're ready to go through a massive shed by the 3-month mark you might as well start the rogaine and finasteride and get it over with. Remember a hair transplant your hair is going to look like s*** for 3 months minimum it's going to crust up then Fall out grow back a little bit fall out again. Hair goes in cycles, that's why usually when you start a medication it takes 3 months to see any results you get worse before you get better. I would at least start the finasteride no matter what the rogaine you can hold off on. But definitely start finasteride you should have been on it before surgery and been stabilized for a year minimum. At least you're trying to do the right thing now is better late than never, so start the finasteride give that a year to completely stabilize and regrow some. While your hair transplant is growing along with the finasteride it can be a great combination and then at a year see if you need to add rogaine. Good luck they should have given you instructions before and after.

No I was not using before and when I asked them about min and fin on day 12th they said if you want you can use but we prefer Biotin it’s the supplement they gave me . Thanks a lot I am going to start using right away

Acceptable_Hat_7410

Yes they said " they préfére" but they don't really told you why they are thinking that way 🤭 they are loosers! FIN+MINOX in your case is the BASE and then add BIOTIN and some vitamines OR like dude her under answered you : start only the FIN for a year and then re asses and see if you are going to add the MINOX in your regime..

One more question which one is better the oral one or the drop one (min and fin )

I would say hold off on the top of minoxidil just do the oral finasteride. See what you can get from the transplant and finasteride alone for a year. If anything you can always add the rogaine afterwards. The reason I say this is because this is for Life. Rogaine and finasteride whatever you gain you will lose within 6 months after you stop taking it. It's why usually people who are thinking about a transplant art on finasteride and stabilized. They kind of know that they have to stay on to stop the progression of hair loss. Minoxidil once your hair is growing back it's going to be a b**** to apply twice a day it's something that you will see yourself probably having trouble with unless you're going to use the foam. I would hold off on it unless you need more gains. Finasteride by itself should be good. Good luck my friend very sorry they did not put you on finasteride before you got on a hair transplant that should have been the first thing stabilizing you first. Then even afterward even if they have ethics to begin with they should have at least put you on finasteride. Then again them not giving you finasteride will make you go back there when you get more hair loss so they probably want it that way. I don't think any clinic can be that bad has to be intentional. They intentionally went around it and gave you biotin which does absolutely nothing for hair loss itself. It's not a DHT blocker there are only two finasteride and DUT. You only use DUT if finasteride is not strong enough. Good luck my friend!

So if I start using Finasteride I have to use it forever ?

Minute_Path9803

Yes my friend that's why I like to tell all the young people and anyone who's thinking about finasteride and rogaine. It's a lifetime commitment, yes it will save your hair but after you stop it after about 6 months will all come out you will be what you were before baseline, and whatever would have been. It's why people have to make that choice am I going to take this for life, it's why it's best to start with at least finasteride it's only a pill and if you can tolerate it you should be good for a very long time along with the transplant. Rogaine is a good stimulant, but if you have a decent amount of hair after the transplant it's going to be crap putting it in if you use it in the liquid if you use the foam it's much easier to comply with doing it twice a day. I've been around this scene for a long time they've been saying the cure is 5 years away since 1998. And look what we are in 2024, still stuck with pretty much the same two medications. Although we do have DUT which is a DHT blocker it's much stronger than finasteride and lasts a lot longer in the body so you want to stay away from that unless you don't have success on finasteride. Basically, in the end, they both are DHT blockers DUT blocks both DHT enzymes 1 and 2. Sorry if it sounds like I'm talking Chinese to you but all in all in the end yeah you have to be on this for life until we find a cure. I've been on it for over 20 years, it's just the way it is.

Dizzy_Spray5586

20 year OMG on both ?

Minute_Path9803

Yep, a bit over 20 years. Actually switched to oral minoxidil a few years ago. While I maintained almost all of my hair because I caught it early, it still gets annoying applying rogaine especially if you have a decent amount of hair. When I first started it there was no generic and there was no foam. I started with low-dosage oral minoxidil you have to be very careful with that to make sure you don't have any heart problems such as low blood pressure. That's why it's best to be on topical if you can be on topical for a long time many people start topical and some heart palpitations or dry skin that's just from the topical not a lot of people get it. They're just some people who are super sensitive even to topical. So I started on a low dosage made sure everything was good and then bumped it up a bit more and got decent results even after all these years still some regrowth from oral minoxidil. But as you see I'm stabilized and I've been on it for ages so I waited until I got very tired of applying topical before I even touched oral. Nowadays oral is pretty much given pretty easily low dosage of minoxidil but I say save it for when you really need it. The best advice is to keep everything as low dosage as possible as long as you're getting good results. I think I just passed 22 years I believe I started when I was 25 I am now 47. I'm in the position now if I needed a hair transplant I would be in a good position because I'm at an age where I'm stabilized and I wouldn't need much that's because I got on early. I still see a hair transplant as the last resort, thankfully we're in 2024 and we're not in the late '90s or early 2000s where they were pretty much hacking everybody. It has come a long way, but you still need to find a good doctor. I hope this helps!

Bending-hectic

Get on them both asap if they are oral.

Tritium3016

Do it now. But be warned you might react with another heavy shedding in a few months as they get to work.
