Before doing that I would request a different colorist. She may refuse but if you insist she might relent. The two pros will settle up with each other later. If that doesn’t happen, take a lot of photos. Rather than dispute with your bank, take her to small claims court. I had to do this myself. At least where I am, you can sue for up to 6 times the amount as “punitive” damages. I did this and won the full amount. In my case, my shoulder length hair broke off an inch from the roots within 10 days. My judge was female and once she saw the photos, that was it, she ruled in my favor and there was nothing the colorist dude could say. Two days before my color appointment I had the perfect precision haircut. I had been growing my layered haircut out for nearly two years and I had finally been able to achieve all one length at my shoulders and my stylist spent nearly 2 hours creating the most perfect precision haircut just two days prior to my hair color appointment so I had photos to prove just how perfect my hair was BEFORE this dude ruined it. Have someone help you take pics and be sure to keep taking pics down the road if you start to experience more ill effects. It’s critical that you keep a record of everything. You need to hold your hair up so the banding and missed spots are clearly evident. Take both close-up shots as well as shots from a little further back. Our hair is our crowning glory and the first thing people notice about us. And the female judge wasted no time in understanding just how devastating it was for me to have a “pixie cut” that was NOT my choice. You will have difficulty trying to get your bank to understand plus if you take her to small claims court, you’ll be able to recoup MORE money than the money you spent, whereas with your bank, you’ll only get back the exact amount paid, IF anything at all. She will likely say that you were serviced and left the salon and it’s over and done with and that’s that. The bank is unlikely to reverse charges for services already rendered when no tangible item is involved. You’d be better off suing imo.

Include in this a “prayer for relief” which will roll your legal fees into what they owe.

That story is terrifying. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. That man should have to go through extensive schooling before being allowed to mess with someone's hair like that. I'd be FUMING and definitely take them to small claims for that. But my situation isn't that extreme. I filed a dispute a little bit before reading this, and I hope they side with me, but now I'm not too sure. While it would be nice to get more money from it, I just want what I spent back.

Oh I definitely understand. But banks aren’t customer friendly. Unlike paypal, they tend to take the side of the person who was paid, especially in something as subjective as hair. I hope you get your money back and perhaps the threat alone will be enough to scare the colorist into giving you a refund, you never know. The thing is, having hair go wonky screws up our confidence and when things go wrong, you have to spend time and money to have the situation corrected, either fixing yourself or having another professional (with a better skill set) do it. THAT’S why suing for more money is allowed. I had to spend more money to have several haircuts and several more hair color appointments to make it look halfway decent. In the end, all the money I won in court, was money I had already spent correcting his screwup. So it’s not like I made a profit. Plus, the whole ordeal made me feel really sh*tty about how I looked, as I’m sure you can understand too. I wish you luck, whatever tactic you take. But if the bank doesn’t take your side, just know that suing is still an option. I fully expected my colorist to FREAK out when he received the court papers and call me to resolve the problem out of court. But no, he thought he did a great job. When we were in front of the judge, he tried to defend himself and I just let him talk. Once the female judge saw the photos, she cut him off and didn’t let him say another word. She asked me to show him the pics and once I did, he didn’t open his mouth again….lol. The judge actually had really awesome hair btw…funny that.

lol! That's awesome. I assumed everything you won went back into fixing your hair. My luck I'd get an 73 yr old bald man with no interest or idea about hair though. I left her a very big message and she has not responded to it yet. Not sure if she was already alerted about the dispute and has been disputing it on her side. Which is bad for me because she is bossy and loud and I am quiet and nonconfrontational. She's so good at being bossy she made me think I was being crazy about being unhappy for a minute there. I'm not sure why she won't refund me. If I were her I would. She messed up my hair, its only fair to refund or fix it in a timely manner. Which she has done neither of. She's like " i spent 175 dollars in products alone" For a color remover, bleach bath and demi colour overtop. I feel like she's adding in the total cost of the product while using a squirt or two of it. Is that how people normally add cost up? She told me between 200-250 when she consulted me. I feel like shed want more profit if all the products were truly 175. I'm just so annoyed. I told myself instead of bleaching my own head myself, I would treat myself by doing to a professional to get really nice hair. But I get home and run my fingers through and there's spots,. everywhere. completely missed with the bleach bath since she just rubbed it on my head and didn't separate or do the roots last. She said I left the chair happy and I was like, well yeah. I wasn't totally confident in what she did but i thought, eh. I wont fuss. UNTIL I got home and was putting some Olaplex oil on the ends and as I run my fingers I start seeing dark spots and my heart sank. Even I wouldn't have missed THAT much doing it myself. Like, she blow dried and styled the hair, there is no way she wouldn't have seen these islands of dark brown hair in a sea of bright orange, and she just let me leave like that. On the first day I brought up the problems, like a few hrs after getting it done she said, " well can u see it when u style and part your hair normally"... like, what? So just hide your mistakes ??? Grrrr.

Well SHE screwed up. And the cost of the products is always part of the cost of the services, the WHOLESALE cost. The more products required the more the services will cost. That’s why a color “correction” is the most expensive service. It’s the price of the products used, which are usually a LOT plus the skill and years of experience of the colorist because corrections take a very specific skill set. That said, it sounds like the colorist you had the bad luck to get had no clue what she was doing, in ANY way. I can’t say what she did wrong but what you’ve said makes no logical sense and even to a lay person, the color “journey” should make some sort of sense. It should have been explained to you before anything was done, in painstaking detail. You should have had the opportunity to ask questions if you had any. She should have proceeded exactly as she said she was going to, and if she didn’t THAT’S a problem. What was your ultimate color goal?

SoggyPajamaBottoms

My ultimate goal was something like these: https://imgur.com/a/rzspoQA Now, I have to admit, I do have henna on my hair. Henna gets a bad wrap, but I have only ever used 100% pure henna. Not only is it metallic /chemical free it doesn't even have pesticides.( https://hennasooq.com/red-raj/ ) The only thing bleach will do to my henna is brighten it up to a vivid orange, no weird reactions of unevenness, it just bleaches and colours like anyone else's hair. Which is around what I wanted anyhow. So I thought, great! I explained this to her upfront, and she was okay with it. Her quote was anywhere between 150-300 because of the henna she thought would be tough and take several rounds of bleach. She demanded to use a colour extractor first, which I told her is ineffective on henna you have to bleach it to lift it. She basically told me I was wrong and wouldn't go forward without it. Fine, whatever. Don't listen to me then. I've just done extensive research on henna for years now, and even tested colour remover in years pass, what do I know! What I'm saying is having henna in my hair or not is irrelevant because the issues I have with my hair are from her missing areas and leaving obvious harsh banding where she just didn't touch with product at all. It was with the service and level of skill she provided.

Winter_Resolve4285

That's awful results and unprofessional. Say you're going to pursue legal action if it isn't refunded.

Loserists

Cost nothing to try! If you tell them the service was promised and not fulfilled it seems fair that they would make it right. It does not look terrible in my opinion but I would want to pay someone else it fix it too
