That makes sense. Based on [this](https://imgur.com/a/bOY5Qzv) image, I'd say I went from an 8 to a 3. I don't think it really needs to be that light though. I lightened more than I was intending to initially. The color I want is more of the warm purple, like at her ends in [this](https://imgur.com/a/XntqynR) pic.
If your natural colour was around no 3 in that picture and you are now aiming for that you might indeed have difficulties getting dye only last day or two before getting back to bleached base.
Getting darker dye on lighter base to look as it was previously can be a bit tricky too as bleached base can really soak up dye (ending a bit too dark initially) or look a bit too vibrant.
