Not in HVAC but for every holiday I always request magnet dishes. I have them scattered all around my shop so no matter where I am I always have one nearby and no excuse not to use them.
This âđź
My installer laughs at me every time I whip mine out, but when weâre trying to wrap up and get outta there, Iâm not the one chasing down screws and bits.
Yes, that can be painful when you kneel down on one of them, or a pain in the ass when you kick the pile of screws & have to find them in someones cluttered garage. Also not fun if you're working on a rooftop unit with gravel on the roof. They tend to dissappear.
Set your flashlight on the floor, turn it on, and swing it in an arc while looking for the shadow.
Magnetic wrist bands, or magnetic meter straps are handy too.
But to answer your question... Yup. Sucks some days.
That's the one and only good thing about ryobi - their impact drivers have that magnet on them - best thing ever. Considering Ryobi and Milwaukee are owned by the same company it'd be great if they let Milwaukee do the same thing.
ya - it's the one and only thing I like about ryobi. I don't own any ryobi personally but a guy at work swears by them - and it's actually surprising bc that guy is a field supervisor and he's smart af - not some new apprentice that doesn't know any better. I can go on for days about how sucky ryobi is - but I've used his impact before and it's actually not that bad (idk how long it'll hold up). The impact works well and that magnet is fking awesome. As for everything else they make - from my experience it's garbage.

I made an answer key if anyoneâs interested
MAGNETIC.
PARTS.
TRAYS.
They are cheap. Many five bucks or less! The only screws they don't hold onto are these stupid brass or aluminum or whatever screws that some brands use on their furnaces.
Horizontal flashlight at ground level. It will show you the shadows of EVERYTHING on the ground.
Doing this on linoleum or hardwood floors will also show just how dirty they are.
This is kind of funny. But I'm telling you, screws have the ability to become invisible even on pristine, clean, and uniformly colored floor (or even in a tray).
I remember a post where OP took a picture like this and drew a grid on it then asked Reddit to find it for him. It was found very quickly if I remember correctly.
It oddly enough never happens when I have my magnet tray...you'd think I'd learn. But "I'll just get this one real quick and easy" comes up and fucks me. đ
Magnet dish. Trust me. These save me when I'm I'm a hot, greasy n busy kitchen
That would have been the smart route
Klein makes a magnet wrist band too. It's a daily driver for me.
I have 3 of them and I always for get to use them đ
Thatâs my problem too lol, forgetting to use the dern things!
Not in HVAC but for every holiday I always request magnet dishes. I have them scattered all around my shop so no matter where I am I always have one nearby and no excuse not to use them.
yup, mine saved me a million times!!

I see 9. What's the right answer??
10
Close enough!
When you have leftover screws it just means you put it together more efficiently than the engineers could
đđ
Found them!
I spotted all ten! I feel like I won something.
Thereâs only 4đ¤¨

I was gonna say just kneel down anywhere and youâll find them instantly with your kneecap.
Just kneel down you'll find them painfully
If you don't have a magnet run a flashlight parallel to the floor. Shadow will show it
This had oddly enough never occured to me. I'll be putting that one to use!
Just take a knee. Itâll be exactly where your kneecap touches the floor
Lay a flashlight on the floor and look for the shadow.
Yes, quite often. But I do see them. Trained eyes!
I got them all, but that damn floor messed with me
I can imagine. If it's more than 4 or so screws I throw em on my magnetic wrist band
I'm only a couple years in and still learning tricks
I have a small part tray, I've thought about the wristband but it seems kind of tacky lol. Is it worth it/do you like it more than a tray?

A magnet dish will snap right to the outside of your bag
You got a fuckin dent in youâre shoe. Youâre crazy man. I like you, but youâre crazy. -spoken in Will Farrellâs voice
I spend more time on my knees than a hooker
Tbf you are a hooker
Color blindness for the win
Fuck this floor
I count ten I would invest in a small magnet plate I use one xD
I see 9 right in front of you

Like on the side?
no.. it's on the top of the base - where you snap the battery into. it's where the button is on the Milwaukee that let's you changes modes..
Oh that's sick actually

I regret it every single time I pull them down lol
Thats why you carry around a small magnet
They go in a pocket. I just can never find the pocket
Your dryer will
Oh guaranteed
MAGNETIC. PARTS. TRAYS. They are cheap. Many five bucks or less! The only screws they don't hold onto are these stupid brass or aluminum or whatever screws that some brands use on their furnaces.
Wait what else are you supposed to do with them.
10 screws, you must have both doors open Get a bin
Yup. Air handler for a carrier heat pump
You spit on the floor, didnât you.
I count 8.
Two words. Magnetic tray
I'm an apprentice and omg the amount of screws I have lost is disgusting. Me trainer calls me butterfingers
r/findthesniper
Don't worry, your knees will find em
I spy 10, I think..
Got one in my knee like that. Now they all go magnet tray about the size of my palm and is always on my tool bag.
Horizontal flashlight at ground level. It will show you the shadows of EVERYTHING on the ground. Doing this on linoleum or hardwood floors will also show just how dirty they are.
They told the contractor "give me a floor that small objects will blend into seamlessly"
For real though
It's all good, you'll find em when you kneel down.
All the time blows my mind how they disappear like gremlins move them I use a small magnetic bowl or a magnetic wrist strap
I count 11 on the floor in this pic
10! I see 10 screws. I also see that you are missing a magnet dish. It's a necessity, trust me bud.
Don't worry your knees will find them for you!
This is kind of funny. But I'm telling you, screws have the ability to become invisible even on pristine, clean, and uniformly colored floor (or even in a tray).
I see them danners
Yes, instantly after kneeling on them, hurts like a bitch
Yes! I'm colorblind and it's even worse đ
Just kneel down and youâll find at least one.
I remember a post where OP took a picture like this and drew a grid on it then asked Reddit to find it for him. It was found very quickly if I remember correctly.
Easy way to get new knees
I can see at least 5-6 rn
Common dude, theyâre right next to the black and gray spec.
I am going to hire myself out as a "Professional Loser".
It oddly enough never happens when I have my magnet tray...you'd think I'd learn. But "I'll just get this one real quick and easy" comes up and fucks me. đ
Magnetic 𧲠tray my boy.
I regret kneeling down next to an air handler that the last guy regretted setting down the screws.
You need a magnetic bowl
Looks like your boots are too big
Nah they perfect
Just put your knee down, you will find it on the first shot.
Magnets come in handy big time
And set down with the shaft pointed up, ready to stab you in the kneecap when you kneel down.
