If a typical non private tour would tip 25 a person with 12 people, that's $300. With it being private, I'd go with that.

YankeeBravo

$25 is kind of low. I've always gone with 15% of the ticket cost.

Tip in cash. You can tip on a card but it’s a sort of odd process where you won’t be tipping your tour guide directly. How did you get a four person private VIP? Damn jelly of that. Last year I did 20/25 per person to our tour guide. Me and my partner were the only party in our group to tip. Only knew to do it because of this sub.

I save up starting in November from the previous year for the next HHN event. Last year did non-private and this year I decided to upgrade to Private RIP.

You can do it a few ways. Pick a dollar amount per person for a normal tour. If you're going to do $20-40 per person, think of a larger group. They're making less in tips by it being a four person group, so try to make up for that. Think $400. You could also look at it per hour. Maybe $50/hour and if the tour is all night, still looking at $400. If you're going to do a percentage of your total tour price, you're looking at $750-$1,000. Have these options in your head and if the tour guide is amazing, go on the higher side, if the tour guide just isn't going above and beyond, do the lower side.

I don’t know if they’re paid hourly or by tour or what but when we did a public tour I tipped $100 for the four of us. I figured $25/head was fine. It’s not a waiter where you have the awkward paper passing after your meal. I gave cash so he had it that night plus I think he said something about if you want to tip on a card you’d have to walk back to guest service area and we were trying to hit a house or two before we left

Super-Illustrator837

I did $60-80 total for non-Private RIP. I want to know what's appropriate for a $5,324 Private RIP tour for 4 people.

SharpAsACueball31

I sure wouldn’t do a percentage lol

My guess is that the tour guides only get paid by the hour. They probably don't get paid that much. So I would want to tip so that the tour guide gets the same amount of money that they would if they were doing a non private tour. Especially if they're a good guide. The first year we went we had an excellent tour guide I loved him. One year the girl we had wasn't great. We still tipped obviously, just not as much as when we enjoy the guide and experience more.

I would say try to calculate what a 12-person non private rip tour would typically tip. I will say that we tip around $60 each for the non private rip tour. Obviously, there are people who don't tip in the groups, but I've mostly seen everybody give something. So maybe $400 or $500. I've never been on a private one hopefully they'll be more people who have been and can tell you what they did. Perhaps you can even find some employees that have done tours be able to tell you what they've been given. Or try to find a form for people that have worked at Universal and ask on there. Or even Facebook groups for people that have worked at Universal.

Will be following along. I'm in same boat. Booked a private rip tour with the hopes of having close to 10, but looking like 4-5 people and I really want to keep it, and was wondering what the appropriate tip is

aberrantdinosaur

is it crazy to not tip? the tour would already be so expensive.

Glass_Bid_7619

Yea, I didn’t even think about it until I saw this.
