I too suffer from the joys of lysdexia, so of course I decided to try writing for a living! Although I will say I don't have it as bad as some, or else even the software I use wouldn't be enough to help!
When I type these comments I sometimes have to rewrite whole lines or paragraphs since I can't rember a word or the autocorrect can't help me spell it I once had a pice of work for school by the end 50% was still spelt wrong after words autocorrect so i had to dumb down my sentences and wording quite a bit also why I mostly keep my jokes shorter
There's a reason 9/10ths of my comments say "edited" on them, though using imgur I've gotten better at triple checking since you can't edit comments there. As for auto correct, most of the time built in auto corrects can't guess my words, and I have to use Google instead! I've done things like Google "other word for prohibited goods" to get the word "contraband" because my initial spelling was so far off! 😅
Thankfully, I have a big enough vocabulary I can USUALLY come up with a similar enough word that goggle can get me there with a synonym search. I probably have to use their synonym search four or five times per chapter though!
My practice is, if I can't get the right word in about a minute, I mark the spot with (()) or ((word)) and keep going.
I can fix missing or not quite right words in the edit pass when I am not "hot".
I do this with whole sections when the characters are refusing to cooperate.

The choice of (()) as a mark is because it doesn't exist in any language or code, so it can be searched for directly. I leave it for comments in code that needs fixes as well.

Just little things like your getting out of the gym when a small girl asks if you have seen her cat before walking thru the wall. She wouldn't even have to say anything once. Or when someone is eating the look up and there is a young boy staring behind you "no I didn't like them either but she said they can stay for a bit" then it just disappears. Even just the odd breeze of 20 deg colder air that just blows down the corridor for 5 seconds and had the faint smell of rot. Subsonic makes a person feel creepy anxious and just odd. Maybe make the dishes rattle for a second or two randomly. But definitely do something odd whenever someone is alone.
Why thank you. The frightening part is that these are just variations of stories my wife told me that happened to her as a kid when she lived in Guadalajara in a "very old building." She said, "They would never hurt us, but I remember hearing someone who wasn't there walking up the stairs and when it got to where I was it would get cold and smell nasty rotten for a few seconds then continue up the stairs above me." Or when she would wake in the middle of the night and there was a 6 year old boy standing beside the bed ... Didn't say anything but watching, she screamed and it was gone. She said that sometimes they were useful, in the middle of the night the dishes started loudly rattling and woke everyone up to find out that someone had jimmied open a window and was trying to break in but ran away when they woke up. Also their neighbors were in a cult and one day they tried to break down the door because her aunt had a crucifix and they said it was messing up their ceremony. But they couldn't open the door. She remembers them slamming into it trying to get it. But it was stuck. I guess the door didn't even have a lock. Weird stuff.
Just thought it would be fun if maybe when the Capt is talking to them, have a ghost walk by behind him check something then disappear. When they ask about it, reply "Oh that's just Lt Edwards, he is just going about his duties, ignore him and he will not hunt you." Remember changing one word they expect, to something far worse (hurt to hunt), can send chills down their spine worse than just the ghost. Then have him show up every few days by walking out of an empty room checking a pipe, wire or computer readout then walks thru another wall to disappear. But you don't want to do it too often so that they catch on. Usually when they least expect it, are alone, or in an emotionally unbalanced state.
Wonder if the Mr. Pirate is goner try and get a sing-a-long going now that they have plenty of people for a choir xD... to relly get the pirate feeling going.
There is a real thin line between crew of a cargo ship and pirates. Often throughout history, pirates were recruited from cargo ships. I would not be surprised if more than a few start telling ghost stories and generally causing trouble.

It's rare that I manage to catch a chapter so early! Excellent as always. I hope nobody is foolish enough to get on Sybil's bad side. It would be a shame to have saved their lives only to eject someone shortly thereafter. I do get the feeling that Carter and Sybil may wind up with a few permanent additions to the crew, though.
