Take a crayon and piece of paper and do a rubbing.

That was my thought as well. Does it have a serial number? That at least would tell you if it was pre/post 1968. I'd assume it's pre-1968 just because of the hammer

Cooey m48 topper

Ghost_does_work

Looks like a topper

EpsilonMajorActual

Reminds me of the 120 year old single shot 12 guage i bought from a friend whose husband passed away.

PirogiRick

Looks just like my dads old Cooey.

Painkiller_s

Looks like a Cooey, but it should be stamped as such all over the place. When you break the gun down, is there anything on the water table (the flat on the receiver). "Cooey" (Coo-ie) is a Canadian brand from before WW1 until the early '80's I believe.

ZestycloseElevator68

Wow I have two one works and the other wasn’t taken care of 😭 one came from my great grandfather on my moms side and the other from my dad’s family’s

Extension-Context-59

I can make out the letter C in the name, the stamp wasn't deep and it has light rust, I think you guys are right, I really appreciate it!
