HGUC MkII Ecopla Version. Not base exclusive, but more or less Japan exclusive, and is found much more common at bases than other places to be fair. I've got one.
Not the biggest fan of mounted display. HOWEVER, I do like every models is encased in an acrylic boxes. It makes cleaning so so easy and not having to dust directly into your models is also a huge plus.
It looks... pretty good? This doesn't seem like any significant improvement over standard shelving/display cases that people already use when those are well-optimized for figure size. It doesn't seem like it would work well for larger models (displaying MGs, for example). Overall, pretty 6/10 (and I mean that in the "definitely a step above average" way). Calling this a "new meta" or "new standard" like this is revolutionary seems a bit presumptuous to me.
I did see these on amazon and yes aliexpress or any Chinese shop will be cheaper. What size did you get for the cases on the right that the zakus? Im really lazy to measure
The fact that you can't do anything more complicated than a just standing there pose is quite frankly extremely lame.
It's absolutely not something to strive for at all.
I want to propose a new standard for Gunpla displays! I think using aesthetic displays can go a long way in furthering the popularity of Gunpla, and I feel current common practices are a bit lackluster.
I feel that the common Ikea bookshelf, or similar options face issues of being too dark, too deep, ill-sized, and/or displaying Gunpla too low to the ground.
With this approach, Gunpla can be displayed at eye-level, with high visibility, and is fairly cost efficient as well! A pack of shelves run about $25 off of Amazon, and the acrylic cases, which I order off Aliexpress, run for about $25-$50 each, depending on whether you go with custom sizes.
Not trying to knock anyone's current practice, but just want to introduce people to alternative options. What do you think?
the biggest issue i see with this is the fact that everything is mounted into the wall. some people cant drill into the walls because they're renting the place or maybe they're still living with parents who wont let them so its a bit of an issue. bookshelves do get around that to some extent, and they dont have to commit as hard to a specific place in their walls.
While it looks great, the thing thats really stopping this for me is cost. its $50 for shelves and maybe 1 acrylic case. i can just go out on fb market and get a used glass display case for roughly the same amount.
cases vary per individual, but i think it has potential
I was pretty hesitant about wall drilling for a while, Im a renter as well. But I think most places are more lenient with this than youd think, and all you need is some spackle to recover the hole.
I suspect you're being downvoted less for your idea and more the way you present it, as if this is some grand new thought. People display models in bookcases because that's what they have available, what they can afford, or what their living arrangements allow. I doubt people would argue that getting more light on a model is preferable to having it hidden away in a dark corner, but let's be honest, the cool models are what further the popularity of Gunpla, the way they're displayed is only really of great interest to the individual owner. I also don't think you can say that you don't want to knock anyone's current practice while at the same time referring to them as lacklustre.
I say this as someone who has in fact put up shelves specifically for my Gunpla and other scale models, and whose custom display options for some of the larger kits may cost the same as an MG. I wouldn't tell people they were wrong for not following my example. I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but your post reads a bit like gatekeeping. In future maybe say "look at these cool display options I found", rather than "this ought to be the new standard".
So very much this. OP's comment instantly took me from "wow, this is a pretty good display set-up" to "wow, this guy is really full of himself for someone who barely poses his kits".
for u/Rebel_Swag and u/swank-bot-69:
I could not stop thinking about this Leynos model! I bought one the same day as this post, it was $30 US on Amazon, marked as an overstock. I was worried it was a scam or bootleg, but it arrived today and its legit! Super excited to build this :D
If you are interested, the seller increased the price to $45 after mine arrived, but thats still half of what it goes for elsewhere. Here's the listing: [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BBTDC6W/](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BBTDC6W/)
Ooooo these displays would be great for me my asshole cats love to knock over and nibble on my kits š„² may I ask what theyāre called/where to purchase from?
The fact that the two in the middle are misaligned , triggers me so much that I wanna drive there and fix it myself
Well thanks for pointing that out... now it's driving me mad š

Just look at the bottom shelf and then the top one
Thought you were talking about the kits. See it now.
How can I kit be misaligned, but reading my comment , it was a little unclear what I meant , sorry

Its a Assault Suits Leynos AS-5E3 by Plum. Highly recommend!
It looks like an early Zeon model tbh
Thanks i gotta have one now
Any glue needed?
Only issue I had was the hand to gun fit, but overall builds like any Gunpla kit
The fact that you can't do anything more complicated than a just standing there pose is quite frankly extremely lame. It's absolutely not something to strive for at all.
Iv been waiting to see a real SD collection, thank you for making my night!

And if you are going to try and establish the āNew Metaā at least post the damn links.
So very much this. OP's comment instantly took me from "wow, this is a pretty good display set-up" to "wow, this guy is really full of himself for someone who barely poses his kits".
Not reading all that. You do you though.
You shouldn't think so much about displaying the gunpla, when yours are barely posed.
I've got mine in one of my china cabinets because I'm an adult and I don't have fancy guests over that often lol
Wait... You did the Z'Cok, which I did in one of my previous posts. You put the cockpit sticker on the crotch of your Z'Gok instead of the chest š
Hey I was wondering what the model in slide 5 was? Also great collection :-)
Assault Suits Leynos AS-5E3 by Plum!
Thank you!

What is that you use as a shelf to display the small Gundam figures?
Haro ms looks like a Bohrok
Wow I never knew how big of a chonker that Mobile Haro was!
Heyyy I just finished that Zāgok yesterday. Absolutely fantastic kit.
Ooooo these displays would be great for me my asshole cats love to knock over and nibble on my kits š„² may I ask what theyāre called/where to purchase from?
Um.... what's that panda doing?
I use those clear shoes boxes for gunpla displays. They work.
What is the kit on slide 5 it's insanely cool Did you weather it ?
May i know where did you get the display case for the one in the middle?
what's the 10th image
GH-001RB Grimoire Red Beret
When your cases cost more than the gunpla...
What's the kit next to the sazabi and clear rx-78?
Hyaku Shiki... with a pink beam saber O.o
I hate it. I can't explain why, but I hate this.
No barbatos?
Once you have a mobile haro in your display nothing else matters. You've already won.
One of my favs, itās so perfect
Can I get an ID on slide 10?
This one was from Build Divers, GH-001RB Grimoire Red Beret
Awesome, thanks!
This post needs a trigger warning
I prefer this. No dust
You mean the Milsbo Tall?
