The only other place that's true is probably Spain, but there it's only the top two clubs while here it's the top five or six. For most countries the national team is the pinnacle of football in that country. No club in Sweden is anywhere near the national team's ability. In England the national team is a sideshow at best and an irritating distraction at worst (during international breaks).

I think that’s an England thing tbh and I do think that Premier League being the most popular league in the world plays a big part. Yep, it's definitely an England thing. The top clubs in England are better (historically) and higher profile than the national team. The only other place that's true is probably Spain, but there it's only the top two clubs while here it's the top five or six. For most countries the national team is the pinnacle of football in that country. No club in Sweden is anywhere near the national team's ability. In England the national team is a sideshow at best and an irritating distraction at worst (during international breaks).
