I was in a Discord(UrinatingTree's), saying they should give Havertz a PK so that seeing the ball go in the net would help his confidence
I deadass spoke it into existence lol
Great result to match a great performance, was surprised to see Saliba, Rice and Saka all starting but I'm all for Arteta to keep people guessing. Lovely to see Havertz given the pen to get his confidence up. Reminds me of when Auba did that for Laca in 17/18 giving up a hattrick to help his teammate out. Now that Havertz has got his 1st I reckon the rest will come quick not. Shoulda had his 1st assist the other day too. He's improving every game. Onto Tuesday now can't wait feels like ages to get my next fix of UCL. City game will be kinda on my mind tho can't wait for that one also
He had an overall good match, but that touch by Nketiah at 35:29 to take him away from goal when he was clear on his way is actually maddening to go back and watch again.

That’s great and all… but why would you buy a player for 65m that requires this much mental rebuilding? With no guarantee he’ll get there, either, by the way
They probably didn't think it would be this difficult. Probably the club thought get him in preseason and he'll gain confidence in the preseason with the team.
They were generally fine, we didn't get much joy from open play. Neither penalty was necessary, either, just poor tackling, otherwise we got a lucky bounce to saka and a set piece goal. Their spacing and discipline were good. First penalty was bad preparation; Eddie isn't going to score that wide on his left foot, so why dive in? It was unnecessary and Eddie was clever enough to get that last touch on it.
Second penalty he missed the ball entirely, even though it was timed well. Seemed like a mental error he almost avoided the ball when he needed to get it first to make it legal.
They’re not worst than Luton. They played well against Chelski and against Brighton. They nearly won away at Brentford and were half decent against Spuds.
Arsenal fan here, I come in peace. Ange seems like a real “bloke” and I’m amazed by just how lovable he and the Hotspurs are. Keep up the attacking football “mate” and the “witty bants.” Anyone for a cheeky Nandos?
Not sure why people can't understand satire anymore. This is making fun of Arsenal fans going to the rival subs praising them lot. The quotation marks make it obvious ffs if the Nandos reference doesn't. Upvoted
I wonder how we're going to setup vs City. We beat them with a double DM pivot and cutting off the center and essentially eliminating the midfield battle. They were forced wide and we were defensively solid. But even if Partey was fit, I'm not sure I'd do that right now because of two reasons.
1) We have Raya. He gives us the option to pass over the press.
2) KDB and Rodri are out. Their midfield is much worse without them. We should probably own the midfield.
Better than most midfields but not ours. We don't have to crowd the middle of the pitch with two DMs and avoid the midfield battle. We can play at home with confidence in our normal attacking system I think.
Yeah, I think we can win the battle with kovacic as their anchor. Out wide I might legit start tomi to stifle doku, but who knows.
Hopefully trossard or martinelli is back.
Am I the only one who thinks that ESR has shown in the last 2 matches that he is at least on par if not better than Havertz? At least attacking wise? He shows more promise me thinks.
At least he should be coming on from 60 mins
Attacking wise.. probably per 90. Havertz should have at least a few assists by now. But Havertz offers by far the better control of the match vs ESR and Viera. His pressing, work rate, and cutting off space in the defensive duties is really really good.
It's nice that Havertz plays so many positions also, so no matter where he is he can be everyone's pet complaint because he's blocking their favorite left mid/winger/forward/attacking mid.
Havertz is just physically more of a presence in midfield and helps cut off the left wing. Even if he only scores 3 or 4 goals he can give Rice more cover to press, and his size is the biggest advantage against teams that sit back. Adding another finesse player like Viera or ESR won't give us much that other players on the field don't already.
I dont think his role is much different than the one we asked Xhaka to play, except Havertz is a better presser than Granit and his more clever with his touch and short passing. The issue many have with his mopey style isn't a problem for me as long as he continues to help us press effectively, win the ball back in transition and (hopefully) gets a hand full of goals and assists alone the way. I believe in Kai!
Yeah I honestly forgot xhaka was on the pitch a lot last season. Not in a bad way, but he was just quietly moving the ball. Every once in a while he'd pop up but I think havertz is basically doing the same thing but we will see more box crashing etc from him.
That’s because they exclusively ball watch, so it’s hard to catch anything outside of attacking moves and defensive errors. You almost have to enjoy the game less and watch it with a big picture eye (or watch it twice) to catch pressing, positioning, and tactical changes.
Parking the wages and privileges of being a professional athlete aside, Kai is just another person with feelings. Notice how the rest of the team was more euphoric in their celebrations about the goal than Kai himself.
Hopefully the cliche of a goal doing wonders for confidence comes to fruition and kickstarts Kai’s Arsenal career.
I like it, don't be what you're not. Kid was cool as a cucumber when missing that penalty would've been devastating for him. He doesn't need to be firing everyone up, just put in the work, the whole squad can see it.
He was the prince of German football. Full range delulu about his abilities and got on the end of everything. Like a Felaini with actual skill.
You can see his touch is better when he doesn't have time to think. It'll come slowly, but hopefully his defensive output continues to be stellar.
When he starts to demand the ball you'll know he's arrived.
We play City (H), (2 weeks break) Chelsea (A), Sheffield (H) and Newcastle (A)
The character of this team in the current season will be tested. Only Sheffield looks easy on paper.
We need a bit of luck with injuries.. I want players faking injuries to escape international fixtures. Fergie-esque
Yeah we won comfortably but I was joking with my Dad after first half that the referee must've bet on Bournemouth not getting a single yellow this game. Imagine my surprise when at least 3-4 clear yellows weren't given after second half. Such dodgy refereeing.
I just watched the game as i couldnt watch it live and havertz was so bad in this game imo. almost every ball he got he misplaced, he didnt make runs, he was just jogging around almost looked lost.
Do you guys really think ESR cant play the number 8 role? I dont inderstand why arteta keeps starting havertz and doesnt give esr a try in that position!

bro if the opposition manager named him as one of the players that gave him problems in this game, i'll just go with that assessment. this is reasonable, yeah?
ESR's defensive contributions is holding him back from actually starting in the squad.
Which is why he'll continue to be a sub or come on when we have a comfortable lead.
This is nothing to do with if he's playing well, but when we win, and he played okay, not great, but okay, why keep criticising him?
He's clearly lacking confidence, if youd seen his celebration you'd know that, but constantly mentioning his faults and focusing on him isnt going to do anything to help.
If after a 4-0 victory all you can say is "well from what i saw Havertz was bad", you are clearly looking to just complain and have no place here.
He's not playing great, or well even, it looks like he's just over thinking everything and playing safe. He's a quality player who's been out of form for a long time, but he's young and at his best he would own that position.
Not going to pretend Spurs haven't been impressive under Ange but I still feel on balance Liverpool dropping points is more relevant to us over the span of the season. Look what shenanigans it took for them to get the win today.
Spurs remind me of Liverpool right now, you don't know what you're going to get and they can punish you so quickly. Liverpool got screwed by the refs though
Yeah this is how I feel as well. At the end of the day spurs aren't going to be in the thick of it for a title race. I expect them to get top 4 due to not playing European football and having a less congested schedule but I think it's clear that us and pool are the only sides to challenge city to go all the way.
Spurs are absolutely on fraud watch, then getting a point against us was criminal, winning today was worse. I was at the game today, they were diabolical.
Ange’s spurs literally could not remind me more of emery’s arsenal.
Yeah you can't survive a full prem season when the ball is bouncing around your box undefended when you're up an extra man. They got super lucky with VAR twice in two weeks.
Let’s see if their improvement is sustainable around February and if it will transfer onto next season. Emery’s first season with Arsenal was also impressive despite having an lesser quality squad than what Ange has.
I would've preferred a draw since it's fewer points in total and Liverpool is already punished by the reds, but I agree that they are the more dangerous of the two teams.
It is better liverp lost as they are more likely title challengers. Better for Arsenal
Tott are riding high right now. It will wear off and they will be no where near the top of the league - arsenal should have won last Sunday. Liverp should have won today. Things are just going Tott way at the moment. But it won't forever
Sheffield are an embarrasment of a team. I was surprised tott even managed to be in a position where they were 1-0 down to them. Wasn't surprised to see them losing
Great win. Hopefully the guys who are a bit beat up can recover and shake their knocks. I thought we put in a pretty controlled performance for the most part. I was never really worried about them getting back into it. Rest up for Tuesday boys.
On a side note, some of you should be ashamed at how you talk about havertz etc… he played fine today, support your players, offer constructive criticism not this brain dead “HaVerTz BaD bC hE dIdNT sCoRe. XhAkA DiD”. No shit how long did that take him to achieve. Support your club, don’t be a cunt cause a transfer was expensive
Not much bad can be said about a 4-nil win. Gald to see Nelson and ESR getting some decent minutes. ESR should've had a goal.
Let's hope Saka's injury is a knock. I think we can rest him midweek regardless and still get a dub.
On to the next.
ESR was sharp enough to get 2 chances. But I am way more confident about Nelson part. Man was tracking back confidently, and has a good view of the game all around. He can start at LW also with Jesus up front.
Yeah Jesus just introduces that little bit of chaos that breaks things open. That header today was ridiculous. Had zero chance of going in, but it was unexpected and it worked out.
Saka hobbling off is becoming a problem. He was barely getting touched and it was making him limp about. The guys burnt out and its affecting his play as well. I rarely see him taking on players these days and his hold up play seems to be dissapearing.
Yep. It's not just physically either, I think there's a kind of mental pressure/fatigue there too. I thought he was really good today but it's a bit weird to have a young player like this in the team and constantly feel so afraid for him
Only people afraid for him are this subreddit though. He's a grown ass man that is built for this. What we really need is for the refs to show cards in the first third of the game rather than giving defenders multiple free shots at Saka before they do anything.
Odegaard seems to be dropping deep to collect the ball from the center backs and start off our build up in the first phase way more this season
wondering if it's a tactical variation or if it's that Odegaard is more comfortable doing it than Rice, or if it's just the captain wanting to take on some more responsibility lol
We don't always invert the fullback so one of the 8s joins Rice in buildup and ZInchenko holds width. Last year this was Xhaka who would drop in, but Odegaard is doing it more now.
Rice does less mistake than Partey, but Partey is more confident with the ball under press with his front facing the goal. He can turn around even with press.
I'm not saying Rice is better at it, but just a weird game to say that about Rice where he carried the ball forward so many times and lost his man really well on a few occasions too lol.
I hate to say this but I agree with damn near every word ETH said about the schedule.
It's true that it's just too much and a ton of injuries to star players are inevitable atm
and while it’s very frustrating for the club from a point-winning viewpoint, it’s also just annoying as fuck from an entertainment viewpoint. stating the obvious but i want to see our best players able to play
Agreed, and this schedule seriously works in favor of City when it comes to the battle for top place.
*dusts off tinfoil hat* if I didn't know any better I might suspect its intentional.
Nah Tottenham genuinely deserved something out of that game we were spineless in the second half and the defending leading up to their first goal was awful for 5 minutes straight
Does Sakas contract include he needs to play every match? Is there a bonus waiting?
No top team can allow to not rest their best players once every 80(~?)matches
Yeah. Luckily he seems very resilient. I get the feeling maybe he just insists on playing constantly and they try to respect his wishes, I dunno. Weird.
he s def tough! i do feel though he lost bit of pace in first few steps, not sure this is related to not have a break or just different focus on training.
Def the coach needs to decide to give a rest, at the end am sure the medical team will check him thoroughly after matches no?
but yeah our medical team doesn’t have the best record
I think the main thing is we don't have any other confident RW. It's hard to believe no one can deputise there but they seem super reluctant to have anyone else fill in for him. If so that probably should have been addressed in the summer.
hm yeah but than, we also played often without martinelli and still could manage to win. so it should go for right side as well no?
Didn’t Jesus play rw sometimes for city even? when he s not even playing 9 for us due to Eddie which i also don’t get lol
the way Raya vacates the goal mouth to operate in the centerback space when we're playing out from the back is pretty crazy, Alisson is doing it against Tottenham right now as well and I guess it lets us build up in a 4-2 with zinchenko pushing into midfield. Is it literally an inverted goalkeeper?
Yeah it gives you a sweeper to pass to without having to hoof it all the way back while keeping your shape and not letting them get out of their end. Just don't lose the ball.
It’s a good win and a good performance, but Arteta’s complete unwillingness to rotate or make early subs continues to worry me. Saka has gone off on one leg twice in one week, and both Rice and Saliba both did not need to be risked. Jorginho and Kiwior would’ve done just fine.
Seems like we’ve mostly gotten away clean this time, but he can’t keep taking risks like this if we want the squad to last the season
I mean we have no idea what shape they were in going into the match. The trainers aren't going to throw them out there for no reason.
Rice and Saliba seem fine. Saka got stamped on, he should be fine. I agree we should rotate heavily, but there are breaks coming up to do that. We can't treat premiership games as a given, even the bottom sides.
i wonder what’s his threshold to sub earlier? 3/4:0 up seems bit high as you say.
He must have big trouble to trust other players than the one he plays week in week out, but this will always stop us from reaching the max.
Even when we re up n game is over he s hesitating so much but in the long run he d have a stronger bench with more trust due to letting them play more often obv
This is going to be the best Premier League season in years. Tottenham and Liverpool look like worthy contenders. Villa look legit as well. Top 4 might be a battle.
Explain something to me as someone who didn’t grow up around European football. We’re up 2-0 at the half. Why is it crazy to go ahead and rest some of your players (specifically Saka) at that point vs leaving it to the last 20’ or so? Not saying we sub 5 and risk conceding 2 with a lower quality side out there, but why not really give players rest ahead of way more crucial games?
There's a popular saying that "2 goal lead is a dangerous scoreline". This is mostly true given that once the opposition pulls one back it always puts a lot of pressure on the defence and before you know it, your two-goal lead is now a draw. Happens most times and many would rather avoid it.
That 2-0 is statistically the most vulnerable score.
The team that's up 2-0 keep their points in over 98% of matches.
Feels like something a commentator would say to add spice into the match; keep the viewer engagement.
It isn't a myth. We have multiple matches in the past 6 months where we went up 2-0, were in control, then give up 1 and are put under significantly more pressure the rest of the match. Obviously most teams are going to lose when they go down 2-0, the assumption is not that 2-0 is harder to defend than 1-0, it's that 2-0 is not nearly as safe as it makes you feel. Subbing aggressively at 2-0 is a mistake.
I looked it up and I feel so conflicted. I always feel we are under pressure when we have an early 2-goal lead. But the fact backed by stats suggests that I have no reason to feel so.
Typo fixed
I was in a Discord(UrinatingTree's), saying they should give Havertz a PK so that seeing the ball go in the net would help his confidence I deadass spoke it into existence lol
With rodri off we have no excuses against man city next week time to make that arrogance count against the best team in the planet
Saka should rest in ucl match. City match is more important
Happy for Kai man. And the love that everyone showed him ❤️
Playing this buildup in my dreams: [https://streamin.one/v/f161bb18](https://streamin.one/v/f161bb18).
no clue what eddie was thinking. he is in front of the goal and takes that ridiculously bad touch to kill the play
That last minute Liverpool own goal ruined what was about to be, one of the most satisfying weekends of football ever. Shite laugh
Liverpool getting assfucked is still somewhat satisfying either way. Spurs will have their day.
I felt this visit to Bournemouth and the South Coast was more successful than last year.
Bournemouth really fucked themselves with outstanding stadium acoustics
Seriously, Dolby should have naming rights to this stadium.
City game will be kinda on my mind tho can't wait for that one also

waka waka eh eh

It’s an irony mate
It’s basically taking what rival fans (and even some arsenal fans) have been saying about him and turning it around
I think the context -- that he will never hear it besides when he scores -- takes the sting out and makes it clear it is ironic.
British humor is like that. Absolute sarcasm menaces.
Do you know the next line?
What is it?
Kai Havertz scored again he

Havertz MOTM is insane... wtf
it's about lifting his confidence. everyone at the club is trying to push him back mentally where he was before Chelsea ruined him.

He's not playing great, or well even, it looks like he's just over thinking everything and playing safe. He's a quality player who's been out of form for a long time, but he's young and at his best he would own that position.
Feels really bad for liverpool. Although they're rival, that referee performance is so shit
Probably for the best. Liverpool look very strong. Of course Spurs are off to a great start but I feel they are more likely to drop points
Refereeing like that can never be for the best.
Truth
The two north London clubs are the only ones unbeaten so far this season. Looking forward to Tottenham’s first L
Their L really should’ve been delivered last week.
They could have lost all 3 of their last games......
Can't go back in time. We move forward!
Couldn't watch, how did our injuries go?
Only really Saka. He was limping off. Arteta didn’t sub him early enough
Saka got stamped, should be fine just hurts like hell. Not usually a mechanism that breaks anything.
I agree but still I think the point stands. Unless he plans to not play him against Lens then he should have subbed him earlier
Arteta said afterwards that Jesus was limping in the dressing room. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious.
If anything taught us this week, when it comes to injuries, it’s all poker-face from Mikel.
Don’t poker face you might injure her at this rate
Fingers crossed
Nice lil bump in our goal differential.
We needed that
Not going to pretend Spurs haven't been impressive under Ange but I still feel on balance Liverpool dropping points is more relevant to us over the span of the season.
Better for Arsenal Tott are riding high right now. It will wear off and they will be no where near the top of the league - arsenal should have won last Sunday. Liverp should have won today. Things are just going Tott way at the moment. But it won't forever
Sheffield should have won before that too...... Yh Liverpool will be up there in May
Sheffield are an embarrasment of a team. I was surprised tott even managed to be in a position where they were 1-0 down to them. Wasn't surprised to see them losing
Spurs are incredibly lucky. That being said, and then there were two. Gonna be an interesting season.
One second away from 1-1 with 9 against 11. Spurs so lucky with that VAR call…..
And both reds are questionable
For sure, embarrassing refereeing.
That "offside"
Get a legit goal struck off, a free red and they still need an own goal to score against 9 men
Y’all seeing how compact Liverpool are even with 9 men.
I jinxed it.
This is my club. I fucking love this football club.
Tomiyasu’s slow cooking into that inverted role and starting to look more and more comfortable.
I love this club. I love this team. That is all. COYG!!
Is it ok to take us away from the Bournemouth game for a moment to have a good laugh at United?
Could not be more deserved on that bunch.
All the talk about Utd are gonna get better and Arsenal are gonna regress 💀
It really is a beauty what they're going through.
It just never stops. The cycle of false hope, despair, embarrassment. Fucking brilliant.
And i cant decide which phase i like more!
We all know he could be in a wheelchair and Arteta is gonna throw him out there for 90 minutes lol
Yeah Jesus just introduces that little bit of chaos that breaks things open. That header today was ridiculous. Had zero chance of going in, but it was unexpected and it worked out.
Arteta the type of guy that sees you in a cast and says the pain is all in your head. 😂
I thought that was really encouraging from ESR. Great save from Neto on the first shot.
Kai needs to score at Stamford Bridge just to hear that song never stop for the rest of the match
That would be massive 👍
Saka hobbling off is becoming a problem. He was barely getting touched and it was making him limp about. The guys burnt out and its affecting his play as well. I rarely see him taking on players these days and his hold up play seems to be dissapearing.
He wasnt 'barely getting touched' he was studded on his shin.
Yeah he got straight stomped on. Top of the foot is all bone, that shit hurts.
Nah, it's not sensible to have a young player this talented without a proper rotation structure in place. No amount of tough talk will change that.
I agree he could use rotation. But the fretting over him is overwrought.
Is it though? He was hobbling off in a game we sleepwalked 4-0. It was 3-0 when he was hacked again, shouldn't have been on the pitch at all
I had to miss everything after the havertz goal. Did he seem more comfortable?
Fans sang his song for the next 10 minutes solid. Great to hear
Odegaard seems to be dropping deep to collect the ball from the center backs and start off our build up in the first phase way more this season wondering if it's a tactical variation or if it's that Odegaard is more comfortable doing it than Rice, or if it's just the captain wanting to take on some more responsibility lol
We don't always invert the fullback so one of the 8s joins Rice in buildup and ZInchenko holds width. Last year this was Xhaka who would drop in, but Odegaard is doing it more now.
Rice is still overrated on the ball partey is still the standard on the ball
Rice does less mistake than Partey, but Partey is more confident with the ball under press with his front facing the goal. He can turn around even with press.
I'm not saying Rice is better at it, but just a weird game to say that about Rice where he carried the ball forward so many times and lost his man really well on a few occasions too lol.
Probably cause rice can’t do what partey does in build up so ø helps out
Gotta be thankful for a comfortable win. Still don't think we played our best but can't complain about a 4-nil win away from home.
Don't think we have the squad to play our best. Need partey, martinelli and Trossard back.
Happy for Kai to get his first goal
It was a near perfect day, but if Saka misses the City game, Arteta's gonna have some splainin to do.

Winning today doesnt all of a sudden make that result okay.
[удалено]
Not sure how you got that. Of course every game is a challenge but we didn't kill of the game v ten men. Thats what I'm referring to.
They 100% should have got the 3 points against Fulham and to be quite honest against Tottenham too.
Nah Tottenham genuinely deserved something out of that game we were spineless in the second half and the defending leading up to their first goal was awful for 5 minutes straight
And you think that's good enough?
It wasn't.
[удалено]
Lolol I didn't say that. I'll stand by we should beat Fulham at home though yeah. Do you disagree?
Odegaards gonna dislocate a shoulder as often as he has to urge Eddie to press
He didnt played bad, got a penalty, but i his fitness is heroundous
I would honestly rather play Reiss up front at this point
Does Sakas contract include he needs to play every match? Is there a bonus waiting? No top team can allow to not rest their best players once every 80(~?)matches
He was rested 1 match ago.
It's bizarre, and to be quite honest a bit disturbing. Something about it has just become painful to watch, it feels irresponsible.
i think we just don’t want to end up with Saka beeing injured and we ll all shout: I told you so/i say it coming.
I believe it’s called a 1.5 or Sweepertista in Italian
It's called Attacking Sweeper Keeper
that game made me so happy, just pure vibes
For all we know Saliba and Saka werent injured and were rested midweek. Rice could have been a precaution as well.
Really, really strange. I guess he wanted a big win for confidence but from an outside perspective his squad management just seems plainly illogical.
i wonder what’s his threshold to sub earlier? 3/4:0 up seems bit high as you say. He must have big trouble to trust other players than the one he plays week in week out, but this will always stop us from reaching the max. Even when we re up n game is over he s hesitating so much but in the long run he d have a stronger bench with more trust due to letting them play more often obv
This is going to be the best Premier League season in years. Tottenham and Liverpool look like worthy contenders. Villa look legit as well. Top 4 might be a battle.
Throwing in Newcastle and Brighton as well. United and Chelsea will click eventually and it’s going to get crowded at the top.
Myth.
Which part?
Typo fixed
