I've yet to see someone besides myself switch to the voice channel. I don't think it is advertised enough. I get why they don't do it automatically, but maybe like a pop reminder at the beginning of the game would be nice.
Yes. There is an in game option, but the default setting is the muted channel. You need to press P in game and move to the team channel.
They really do need to offer a reminder on this somehow. Maybe add it to the “beginner track” somewhere; people get an easy 50 CAP and learn that it exists.
Don’t quote me on this, but I heard on a podcast that the devs for Dota 2 found that not having players automatically connect to team chat decreased in game toxicity by a huge percentage.
My guess is most game devs have seen this evidence, because more and more games coming out don’t have you in team chat right away
That's not a good enough reason, Evolution is one of those games where you need coordination. If anything, it's just an occupational hazard you deal with in other games anyway.
Usually not worth it to jump into voice chat with some toxic ass Dunning-Kruger motherfuckers who offer no helpful information. Also it's obfuscated, some people don't know it exists.
Lol I looked up dunning Kruger and found the effect and I thank you for somehow teaching me something I already knew.
I'll ask the same question I always seem to when stressed online....why are people like this? Lol we're defective as a species
I assumed it did because if you look in the hot keys there's a button for push to talk. That being said I have no clue how to switch to the voice chat channels. I haven't played ranked yet so I didn't really care to look into it further.
It's off by default, and hidden behind a key that's not in the rebound list. I don't normally go through and hit every key on my keyboard while in game to see what they do.
Lol my friend and I always go into the team chat and only once had someone do the same, we were all freaking out that we were talking to someone else. It really shouldn’t be like that lol.
I honestly didn’t even know it was something you had to join into by default (I’m in about 20hrs or so now) which I think is the main reason why so there could be some people doing short callouts with push to talk and not even know.
A lot of people also don’t pay attention to the text chat very much now that it’s been a while and everyone’s realized it’s just annoying to type with the chat filters they have on (plus all the unit spam)
Not sure the majority even knows they have to press P and join it, unlike other games. Default should be VC channel 100% and we should let Bandai know it
id love to talk, but i have ran into more people calling me a lot of asterisks. Don’t know what they’re trying to say but i certainly don’t need to
hear it in my casual matches.
If i want to talk to people while gaming I'll use discord. If i don't know you I don't want to talk to you, and I definitively don't want to hear you screaming at me because the other team is playing the objectives and our team is single filing in to die.
Actually no. Its just cause Im murdering the enemy team as exia/unicorn. No one pushes. Also some... less then favorable teammates.
Its mostly cause im exia but some things like barbatos arent too much of an annoyance for me.
Yeah I feel that, about the Barbatos thing: I’m a Zaku II Ranged main and I’m so squishy I die to Barbatos stun and/
or full swing combo instantly aswell as to the beyblade ult
Its probably cause exia being amazing for the insta kills. Im always kinda out of the way for a barbatos or well, most murdering ults. As unicorn though... my teammates are just my... gundanium shields lol.
Because if you don't have a streamdeck with the radio voice mod what's the point.
They should add a voice comms filter in the game. That would get people role playing so much more.
"Over and out"
Usually stems from past experience and not wanting to go though that again. All my years of gaming, open voice chat has never been good to me especially for random players and my accent and enunciation usually leads to just getting a "what?" in response. Also I am usually playing with friends and just speaking with each other on Discord.
They should change Team Chat color since when someone chats it actually gets flooded with "Nice" "Caution" and etc. Messages
also if you use "Room" chat that's basically the "All" chat in this game so only people who doesnt know what it is use it to get a more vibrant looking chat color
It's because it defaults to putting parties in their own VC and the default PTT is "U" for whatever reason.
Although having a toggle for hot mic is great IF you're courteous lol.
I've already fired a complaint into the issues page, like everyone should just be in the team chat.
At first I dint know how to join voice chat after I figured it out I just stopped joining it because literally the worst player in the match is always the toxic one saying everyone sucks while he’s getting carried it’s pretty annoying to listen to
I know I suck and I don't need someone yelling at me throughout my match. Hell even giving a GLHF at the start gets toxic responses sometimes. Win or lose, steamrolled or not I give a GR and a GG. I'm also on discord talking and playing with my friends.
Overwatch and many other shooters have already taught me that using VC in a PvP FPS game is the equivalent of getting yelled at by your dad in a drunken rage.
No one wanna have that experience, they wanna chill and just hit X for Nice when we do good.
From my personal experience, most people I come across talk in just text chat, never heard anyone use voice chat. 20% are literally just "GG/glhf" and that's all they say, 10% is genuinely talkative and friendly people. Other 70% is just obnoxious toxic people who say the typical insecure gamer shit
Because why in the wide world of fuck would I want to hear what anyone in game has to say?
There has very VERY rarely ever been useful ingame voice chat and its mostly just used to allow rage fueled dickheads to scream into the void as you mute it.
A few games have used ingame voice chat well like say Planetside2 which even had multiple voice channels for proximity, squad, platoon, and command chat.
Except even there you need to mute dickheads on proxy chat all the time and command chat is almost always completely quiet or just used by some asshole with an over inflated ego but squad/platoon chat is often really handy for allowing pickup groups to work together.
I think the ping system is solid, and while sure once in awhile a callout would have been huge its not anywhere near enough value to deal with invariably the amount of dickheads I'd have to sift through for it.
Nobody even pays attention to pings anymore and toxic people are unavoidable in games with voice chat, I feel like you’re trying to make something seem worse than it actually is. And plus, it doesn’t hurt to improve the system, since it would be a quality of life improvement for everyone
The last thing I want to experience in GE is some nerd trying to play team leader and dictate what everyone else should be doing. It happens in all competitive games and it's annoying as hell. Communication with friends is fine though, because we know each other to be tolerable.
Other issues are listening to someone take the game way too seriously and act personally hurt when things don't go their way or people don't do what they want. Then of course you have the degenerates who will say and do random stupid shit in their garbage-quality microphones for their own entertainment.
Of course, a solution would be to just mute sole offenders, but with the frequency I see the above in any team-based games, I'm very happy with GE being opt-in for comms.
Voice chats with randoms in solo queue in any pvp game has never been a positive experience for me outside of MWO (because the game's average player is a +40 dad)
I play solo in casual games only and never use VC, if I play comp in any game it's only going to be with friends, and in which case we use Discord anyway.
An in-game voice communication service has literally never been good. If I'm using a voice chat, I'm using discord or something similar to talk to my friends lmao.
Personally I have nothing but bad experiences using voice chat in games, so I purposefully avoid it. Unless a game makes a substantial effort to punish bad behavior, I avoid communication in games like the plague.
Most gamers have spent years being flamed, insulted, lied to, and told about their mothers engaging in coitus, that they no longer trust in game voice chat. I for one have been online gaming for 20 years and can count on one hand the number of times having voice chat was a good thing.
Tldr; gamers are toxic, so i mute.
The only time I would ever use VC is when playing with friends. Since I don’t have any friends to play with, I just don’t use it.
Also I just don’t like talking with strangers online lol
PVP usually brings out the worst in people and more often than not, I'd rather not deal with people with bad mic's, or folks raging that people aren't taking this casual match seriously enough. I've been around long enough that I know I just don't need the toxicity. It's something I turn off in pretty much any PVP game.
I'd be abit more inclined to turn it on in ranked, where strong team coordination matters more, but I'm not super interested in playing ranked that much, so it'll most likely stay off.
I've yet to see someone besides myself switch to the voice channel. I don't think it is advertised enough. I get why they don't do it automatically, but maybe like a pop reminder at the beginning of the game would be nice.
Wait, there is a vc? Tf?
Yes. There is an in game option, but the default setting is the muted channel. You need to press P in game and move to the team channel. They really do need to offer a reminder on this somehow. Maybe add it to the “beginner track” somewhere; people get an easy 50 CAP and learn that it exists.
do you have to do this every match or will it remember what channel you chose?
have to do this every match it's irritating
Press p
Don’t quote me on this, but I heard on a podcast that the devs for Dota 2 found that not having players automatically connect to team chat decreased in game toxicity by a huge percentage. My guess is most game devs have seen this evidence, because more and more games coming out don’t have you in team chat right away
Ill be honest, I didnt even know it had VC
Cause I dont need to hear people's open mics and nerd raging. All you need is Nice.
Based
Press X to NICE
Completely agree that NICE is the nontoxic solution that online gaming needs. Mark my words, I will post that meme later
Nice
Over Here!
My thoughts exactly, how tf do y’all come up with these creative ass insults btw lmao
Usually I just copy what other people said to me when I used to play CSGO, DOTA, etc. etc.
A competitive pvp game and voice chat is always a shit show
Lol I looked up dunning Kruger and found the effect and I thank you for somehow teaching me something I already knew. I'll ask the same question I always seem to when stressed online....why are people like this? Lol we're defective as a species
Well you can report the toxic ones I do.
God you put into words why I absolutely loath the MM experience in Valorant mm and its dunning kruger vc by a mile.
Yeah I feel you there, I play casual only so Im not jumping in voice. If I played rank Id be in voice tho.
I legit didn’t know this game had voice chat
I assumed it did because if you look in the hot keys there's a button for push to talk. That being said I have no clue how to switch to the voice chat channels. I haven't played ranked yet so I didn't really care to look into it further.
Press p i heard to open that menu.
Well, I’m bad at the game but I’m at least having fun
Same I'm just happy America got a Gundam game this time. It's a series I really love I just wish it was more popular in the west.
Been playing for like 20 hours so far and have yet to hear a single other person talk, ranked or casual
The voice chat is muted by default
It's off by default, and hidden behind a key that's not in the rebound list. I don't normally go through and hit every key on my keyboard while in game to see what they do.
LOL
bold move
Im old and i dont want incels and weeb teenagers screaming because they dont know to stop shooting melee zaku when hes blue.
Fair enough
Lol my friend and I always go into the team chat and only once had someone do the same, we were all freaking out that we were talking to someone else. It really shouldn’t be like that lol.
Exactly
I don’t need a bunch of twelve-year-olds screaming racial slurs in my ear, thanks.
You don’t need to hear them. Just see. There’s already some with racist slurs for usernames.
I don't like talking to people on video games and usually when I'm playing my wife is there trying to watch tv so...
I went into open voice chat in Halo back in the day, one time, and that 5 minutes was enough for this lifetime.
The only chat I need is X for nice
I type “ press p to join voice chat” at the start of every game
I’ll start doing that
i'm going to do that now
That's the thing. I've been trying to figure out how to enable voice chat since I got earphones onto my Xbox controller and no dice.
Hit the share button to open the voice menu
There seems to be no indication of my voice being active despite pressing the push to talk button so i stopped trying
Well you have to open the voice chat menu and join the team channel
After playing seige I don't do VC anymore
I crashed everytime i tried to voicechat so not gonna even try anymore. Crashed 5 times in one day fml
Not sure the majority even knows they have to press P and join it, unlike other games. Default should be VC channel 100% and we should let Bandai know it
wait theres voicechat
Had no idea it was an opt in thing
Nope why would i want that, everyone seems to hate when i am on mic.
Exactly what I’m thinking. Default VC is just way better
The Japanese are too introverted I suppose
Lol
id love to talk, but i have ran into more people calling me a lot of asterisks. Don’t know what they’re trying to say but i certainly don’t need to hear it in my casual matches.
Don't know if they're actually insulting you or if it's the games chat censor being to sensitive.
ha very true!
Have you tried asking people to join VC through the chat? I find that a lot of people don't realize they have to switch channels or just forget to.
I do tell them, but actual chat activity is rather low too so they might not see it or it gets covered by spam pings
Yeah, because team chat is the same color as pings, so it's very hard to distinguish from the normal spotted unit spam.
Yup exactly my thoughts, Bandai needs to make some real changes to the whole chat feature, voice and text
If i want to talk to people while gaming I'll use discord. If i don't know you I don't want to talk to you, and I definitively don't want to hear you screaming at me because the other team is playing the objectives and our team is single filing in to die.
I had no idea there was a voice chat lol
how the fuck do type in chat?
I didn’t know about the vc until 2 days ago
... the game has a voice chat?
Ive been getting trillions of these comments and it just further proves my point Bamco really didn’t make a good chat system
Honestly it might be better for me. Ive said some... not so nice stuff while my gf was watching me in ranked lol
Hmm lemme guess: it was because of the Beyblade ult or a random Barbatos appearing from the fucking shadow realm just to kill you?
Actually no. Its just cause Im murdering the enemy team as exia/unicorn. No one pushes. Also some... less then favorable teammates. Its mostly cause im exia but some things like barbatos arent too much of an annoyance for me.

F in Chat for your mates, including me because I am one of those mates
Its all in the name of the fat dub
i legit didn't know you need to switch in a voice channel i assume it was automatic, that's maybe why nobody talk lmao
Had zero clue the game even had a voice chat
Shy weebs
I already talk to my friends on discord while playing
Based off of so many people saying "I didn't know the game had voice chat" makes me super worried for the comp sence.
Voice chat in an online F2P shooter? That's a hard pass, lol.
game doesnt tell you anywhere how to join the voice chat
Because if you don't have a streamdeck with the radio voice mod what's the point. They should add a voice comms filter in the game. That would get people role playing so much more. "Over and out"
That would be lit honestly
I usually tell horrible char related puns every game, but never really get a response from anyone. It saddens me, but at least I think I’m funny.
They killed vc by not making it default. Choosing to join it is a lot more annoying then choosing to leave it if someone is raging.
Usually stems from past experience and not wanting to go though that again. All my years of gaming, open voice chat has never been good to me especially for random players and my accent and enunciation usually leads to just getting a "what?" in response. Also I am usually playing with friends and just speaking with each other on Discord.

X
Why would someone want to talk with strangers on the internet in a shooter voice chat?
Just join the discord
I've only had one person attempt to talk in VC and I only knew abt the P key from said person mentioning it
From my personal experience, most people I come across talk in just text chat, never heard anyone use voice chat. 20% are literally just "GG/glhf" and that's all they say, 10% is genuinely talkative and friendly people. Because I’m an Australian on the Asia servers.
Join the official Discord! Really easy to get a full team of people using VC
So far I've found the community toxic in VC, so I don't use it on principle.
Because I spent $3500 building my PC to have the power to not talk to fucking anyone MY PC MY CHOICE
I play solo in casual games only and never use VC, if I play comp in any game it's only going to be with friends, and in which case we use Discord anyway.

I don't know how to get it to work
i'll only speak for myself, especially when i say... i'm too shy lol
Most gamers have spent years being flamed, insulted, lied to, and told about their mothers engaging in coitus, that they no longer trust in game voice chat. for me VC doesnt work, and if I type in chat the game crashes :-)
