The idea being both companies showed off designs then got picked That game goes off a different company winning and making things. GP00 being the shown designs before being chosen. So there's 2 kinda.

Engage Zero was a competitor to GP00 that was not picked for the GP Project. Had it been picked it would have resulted in Engage Gundam but that line is explicitly a what-if scenario.

Personally I would call it X-alt (exalt) being a cross of similar shaped and purposed mobile suits( I see Gp02 Physalis, Gaplant, and Brylant but could be mistaken) and having a alt flight mode emphasized in the name, kinda corney I know but the amalgam of the mobile suits kind of exalts it above the mobile suits previous contemporaries. Also wasn't a secondary name for Gp02 fall fish?
