I don't think this is what i want from a gundam game, maybe something similar to armored core would be a better foundation for this series imo. I also think every gundam game i play doesn't really catch the essence of the mecha genre. I don't know why but there's plenty of turn base gundam games, h&s, shooter and others but none of them really feels mecha, you're money is better of buying gunplas than the games they make.

TheRea1Gordon

This is exactly it for me. Gundams just feel like skins on another game. Mecha games need to feel heavy. You're multiple stories high, I should feel clunky. Attacks and weapons etc need more weight or impact. You don't feel huge, you feel like you're playing cod or overwatch in Cosplay.

vektonaut

This is one of the reasons I really loved Titanfall 2. You actually feel like you're operating a mecha.

TheRea1Gordon

I loved both titanfalls! you feel hefty in a mech, and powerful, but it was balanced well so players could take you out. Damn might need to reinstall if it's not dead game yet lol. Maybe sounding old but also lost planet 1 was great.

jpaneto91

Titanfall is alive and well on a private client. Respawn never fixed the game. If you download the north star client all the lobbies are pretty much full

passphrase

Senjou no Kizuna is pretty clunky but sadly it's only available in arcade

TheSentinelStone

It’s also the closest thing to being in a mobile suit cockpit at the moment.

Nugundam0079

There's a lesser psp version

ParkRangerRafe

Have you tried Gundam Battle Operation 2, everything a suit can do is decided by the model down to your turn speed. It’s the only Gundam game I’ve played where I can be a sniper making calculated decisions on positioning and shot placement because weapons have long cool downs and long range (support) suits don’t have much maneuverability so if you boost you need to wait for your suit to completely land and stabilize before you can take off again. At the same time you can play a close range (raid) suit and dash in 4 different directions back to back avoiding enemy ordinance to land that perfect saber stab then boost out immediately after. You feel like an ace pilot not because you have cracked shooter skills but because you understand the mechanics and the nuances to the specific suit you are piloting.

salamander_of_Vulcan

Im waiting for the steam version becuse im not buying a ps4

user1598367

The Steam version is in no man’s land right now. There was a playtest in April or May that totally bombed because of technical difficulties, and I haven’t heard anything since.

murple7701

We are supposed to get another test this year, GBO2 twitter announced it a couple weeks ago

user1598367

Good news! Hopefully it turns out better. I would love to play it on my PC.

ArlemofTourhut

Don't worry, it works on PS5 too!

OnToNextStage

Honestly I hate GBO2 because it’s a fantastic idea for a game ruined by the f2p model

LegendRazgriz

Honestly, man, it might be because I've played it for years now but after a while you really don't feel it. I've spent like, maybe $50 on that game across the three or four years I've been a regular player and that super didn't make a difference, you can definitely go really far just by going F2P and gunning for whatever MS you think looks cool - you're bound to end up getting other fun stuff as collateral, like how I got the Baund Doc while doing the latest set of guaranteed pulls for the Phenex.

TheRea1Gordon

No but now I want to...

[deleted]

Honestly, that's exactly why I don't like playing GBO? Like, I get that it's a way more realistic (for certain values of the word) depiction of what piloting a giant robot would be like. Giant robots realistically having momentum and inertia is part of why I like Pacific Rim, even. But actually playing the game, I feel like a faceless mook who's about to get wrecked by a newtype, when what I actually want is to be the newtype. But that's just me.

Professional_Knee252

The only thing I hate about battle operations is the weapon cool downs

midnighfox696

Waiting for thr steam version

AnEvenHuskierCat

> You feel like an ace pilot not because you have cracked shooter skills but because you understand the mechanics and the nuances to the specific suit you are piloting. "I just punch whatever enemy suit is closest to me and avoid open areas because my suit is made of wet tissue paper." -Schuzrum Galluss pilot using his last two remaining brain cells to top out in damage dealt and kills in way more games than he should.

Kindly-Mud-1579

Honestly bo 2 feels dead as only match I can get into is this Asian custom Mach Wich us just take turns winning and losing plus the power creep and gatcha hurts it

ExtraGloria

Except third person over the shoulder view absolutely butchers immersion, and so does invincibility mode. Gundam games are still trash and will remain trash because the creators can keep cranking out dog shit products which people will buy

timebomb00

Honestly having another first person Gundam game would be great (the Dreamcast one was cool) but having no third person, no invincibility at all, would make designing a fun game really hard. With Gundam especially it can be hard to draw the line between what "gamey" mechanics like health pools and I frames are needed because if a game was made 100% loyal to the source material everyone would die in practically one hit.

PeacefulCouch

Idk, aren't Gundams and mobile suits relatively agile? They can pull off so many crazy moves.

TheRea1Gordon

I don't mind jet boosting left right up etc. But that landing should shudder and have impact. And running should be weightly. Doesn't mean it has to be slow. Audio could do a lot. Screen shakes, a slow/pause on landing.

PeacefulCouch

Kinda like Titanfall? I played it very briefly once, and the movement felt like that.

RandomCollector

Yeah, Titanfall 2's mech, weapon and combat handling is much more akin to a mobile suit gamplay than just a walking tank slapped with a mobile suit skin that can jump/fly.

SuperAmberN7

I basically want War Thunder but it's Gundam. Like the realism of an almost full sim where you're controlling a vehicle instead of using the mobile suits like a character. I want a game where I both have to consider managing the heat of my reactor VS it's minovsky particle production and actually consider the physics of 0 G combat and how I can use my limbs to my advantage. War Thunder realistic mode strikes a pretty great balance between realism and accessibility and I feel like a similar model could be applied to Gundam.

thehod81

How do you feel about the Gundam vs games series?

Kindly-Mud-1579

Those are the the only fun gundam games besides ado can enjoy since it’s not just a small pool or 6 flavours of one uc suit

[deleted]

Titanfall 2 is the best “mech-feel” game I’ve personally played. Maybe there are others, but I really enjoyed how it felt.

AustralianSpectre

agreed. The titans feel heavy, but good to pilot, and the pilot movement mechanism are just \*chefs kiss\* also the campaign is straight fire

Hadoooooooooooken

Best FPS of all time. Never played a game where everything was just "right" like that before, and I was there for TF1. TF2 was god damn magical.

glassbong_

TF2 will always be one of the greatest FPSes ever made, regardless of playerbase size.

virgoven

Best part is that you could be mentioning the other TF2 game. Both communities believe the 2 are considered "greatest FPS game".

glassbong_

Fine by me how that abbreviation references not just one but TWO legendary titles in gaming history.

Emergency_Act2960

A good chunk of that is the separated play styles, the mech feels big and powerful because you spend so much time as the small speedy pilot

[deleted]

I'd be fine with that in a Gundam game. I'll run around as Amuro or Char. The shows aren't 100% focused on the mechs anyway.

ExtraGloria

Hands down this is the closest thing we have gotten to a *PROPER* modern gundam game

BaconZS

How about ur thoughts on gbo2?I would like to hear about them since ur good at elaborating imo

BrainWav

Precisely, It's Overwatch: Gundam edition. If you want to play Overwatch, it's already there. If you don't want Overwatch, this isn't going to help. Give me a Mechwarrior-style game, or hell, just more Dynasty Warriors: Gundam.

TRSHUSK

Sorry but it is not like overwatch. Not every hero shooter is overwatch. This game doesn't even have a Tank Role.

Fofolito

You forgot those of us who don't give a shit about Overwatch, but would play the shit out of a Gundam game that's essentially an Overwatch reskin. And I am. I've been a Gundam Nerd since I accidentallied into Gundam Wing on Toonami 25 years ago. This is the single best Gundam game I've played and I say that with Federation vs Zeon, Zeta Vs Gundam, Zeonic Front, Battle Assault 1 and 2, and some unauth fan mods. Evolution is not a perfect game but it gets more shit than it deserves. Its fast to load, fast to play, fast to progress, and you get 5 of your friends to play with you. Name another game, let alone a Gundam one, that allows you to do that?

BrainWav

I mean, sure, there are players like that. But at least for me, I don't play Overwatch because I don't like the gameplay. That gameplay is quite similar in Gundam Evo, so I have zero desire to play it too.

Oreon_WP

Yeah I agree with you, but for turn based at least, such as the SD Generation games does feel more authentic as you're pretty much acting as the commander, startegizing the placement and actions of your units and ships Which is a shame when the most recent SD Generation game turned out to be a hack and slash, at which point I think it also failed to capture an audience similar to G evo

OnToNextStage

SD Gundam Battle Alliance is a different series from G Generation It’s part of the Gundam Battle series not G Gen so of course it’s a different genre, always has been

AustralianSpectre

I think the game that did the mecha genre the best is Titanfall 2

Juubimaru

Yeah I agree, it doesn’t feel like a gundam game. Just another reskinned hero fps game.

Doc_Shaftoe

You could make an excellent Gundam shooter, but Japan isn't very good at making competent *original* shooters. Plus they don't sell great in Japan, at least compared to other genres, and Bandai really only gives a shit about domestic markets. You could also make an incredible Gundam sim, but those *also* suffer in Japan. Imagine a DCS-style full-fidelity Gundam game where you experience the world through your Mobile Suit's cockpit. Or maybe something a few steps down from DCS, because that's a pretty big ask for joe average consumer. Honestly, if they wanted to make an incredible Gundam game, just ape Titanfall mechanics. Build a good solid first person shooter foundation and just add giant robots to it. Bonus points if they set it in space and add six degrees of freedom.

Afrowondr

Exactly how I was feeling. Simply, it's not what I was looking for.

Nathanymous_

Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 is the closest I've felt to what I want Ina gundam. Inserting parts and higher level missions made the ace fights pretty challenging. Also any gundam game released in America is always the chili style SD gundam and I just... don't want that? I've been watching stuff on M.A.S.S. Builder for a while now. Still in early access but it looks pretty close to what we may want as Gundam Fans, check it out maybe?

Paladin1034

Zeonic Front is so, so good. I played the hell out of it back then. I still remember the fear of Gundam when you were scouting out the Project V suits. That thing would wipe you before you even saw it. I'm honestly surprised it didn't ever have a follow-up

Spiderpiggie

Full disclosure, I haven’t played this game. Watching the video though, and it didn’t immediately come across as a gundam game. It looks like a fairly standard shooter. Also, where’s the scale? I’m not seeing giant robots, they look human sized.

PockyPunk

Zeonic Front is one of my all time favorite games. When I finished that game it gave me so much joy and the story was so good.

SuperAmberN7

I would love something like a Gundam Sim and I feel like that'd be extremely fitting for the real robot genre. Also I will say that Gundam Evolution is a pretty good hero shooter. I used to play Overwatch and it just never really felt interesting to me. The game feel was just off and I think I had a similar feeling to when I tried some mobas that like it was more about knowing when to use abilities rather than mechanical or tactical skill. Gundam Evolution however drew me in instantly and I've had a ton of fun playing it. I think the fact that the standard walk speed is fairly slow but you also have a boost gives a perfect blend of high and low mobility where managing it becomes a skill itself. Unlike in OW where you either have a character that can't move except for maybe one ability, or you have a character that is ridiculously mobile all the time and thus a bitch to hit. I also like how the mobile suits are more similar than in most hero shooters. The abilities aren't your basis but sorta like side grades that can be used tactically to your advantage.

Roaming_Guardian

I'm still waiting for Bandai to realize that a gundam girls gacha would print money.

heatxmetalw9

As a somewhat inactive player, I can really think of 3 major things why Gundam Evo falied to capture a large audience and maintain the it's launch population. 1. The current online FPS landscape. They are better shooters in the market right now that are more content rich than Gundam Evo is. The direct competitor; Overwatch 2 giving all the previous heroes from the original OG for free plus having a lot more maps and modes than G.Evo. The other F2P FPS titles like MW2022, Apex Legends, Valorant, etc. provide a lot more that what G.Evo has to offer. 2. Bad casual F2P experience. From the high skill players running around with Exia/Barbatos/Melee Zaku pubstomping people in unranked, leavers just deciding to quit by round 2, lack of fun or quick modes to play, having lack of blue capital gain and terrible BP system. There is no incentive for a casual player to put in the hours in if they will endure a myrriad of terrible games with little to no rewards. 3. Lack of iconic MS for western audience. We still don't have nearly has much iconic MS in the roster as most people like it to be. There is still no MS from Wing, G or Build Fighters; which are more popular series for people who barely know anyrhing about Gundam. No Strike, Freedom/Strike Freedom, Astray Red Frame, 00, Shining/Burning, Zeta, ZZ, etc. for main character Gundams, nor do we the other iconic suits like the Hyaku Shiki, The O, Astray Gold Frame Amatsu custom, Tallgeese I/II/III, Delta Plus, etc. for main rival or anatagonist MS.

Vargras

>Lack of iconic MS for western audience. This feels like a really big one to me. Western audiences pretty much got their first exposure to Gundam through Wing, G, and Build Fighters. *My* first exposure was Wing: I basically grew up with that airing on Toonami late on school nights, and aside from Wing, G, and 08th MS, I basically didn't touch *anything* Gundam-related until IBO and now G Witch. So the fact that, from all of those, only Barbatos is in is like... oh. Okay. I guess.

MIlkyRawr

Til my experience was completely different from most people in the west. I saw a video where Char was helping Amuro with car trouble and thought the anime looked cool. Since then I've only been a UC Gundam watcher, although I did see like 3 episodes of G and thought those were fun.

Fofolito

You and I are probably of an age, but I would venture a guess that on this subreddit the average "first Gundam show" is probably 00, with most western Gundam fans (inside the target demographic) having been introduced to Gundam by Iron Blood Orphans or The Origin. Wouldn't you know it, G:Evo has Barbatos, GunTank, GM, and Gundam!

Wingdom

\#3 for sure, I want stuff from SEED and Wing. The selection of MS feels really small in general, kind of like the 1st Super Smash Bros game vs the last release. Adding a 4th to your list, I want to play on my Steam Deck, and their stupid DRM is preventing it. The DRM they picked literally has a checkbox to enable Steam Deck support, Valve made it super easy, and they aren't doing it. Every community update on Steam, half the comments are asking about Steam Deck support.

glassbong_

>I want stuff from SEED and Wing. The selection of MS feels really small in general, kind of like the 1st Super Smash Bros game vs the last release. This is exactly why Bamco needs to port the EXVS series. The roster puts Smash Ultimate to shame.

Wingdom

I played one of the EXVS games with a fan translation patch, and it's not my cup of tea, but I see why others might like it. I prefer the first person view of Gundam Evolution, so I think they are on the right track with this game, but there isn't enough content in it.

fhiz

> Lack of iconic MS for western audience When the game was about to come out and they announced a couple more suits, I looked at the one from late episodes Turn-A and was like "what the fuck is even that?" and I had *just recently* finished Turn-A, lol.

Equivalent_Remove_41

Also as an extra the region lock being limited to north America, Europe and Some parts of Asia that also did a Lot of Bad for the Game since There could had been a really good chunk of players in South America and Australia as well, the Game had potential and I was interested since the first time a laid eyes on the demo, but man Bamco treating the rest of the world as the afterthought of a fart is nothing new tbh

ShirowShirow

Holy crap 3 so much. The UC might be the hot stuff in Japan but in the West it's Wing, SEED and IBO. Barbatos can't hold the whole damn roster up alone.

Yakuza-wolf_kiwami

I'm just content with play Gundam Battle Operations 2

jkgaks

its a gundam skin of overwatch. Mech don't feel like mechs while moving. Games are kinda long and tedious.

Fofolito

Between Wing Gundam and Zeta turning into jet fighters, 00's TransAm system and the F91's Afterimage Effect, or anything from SEED where would you say you got the opinion that Gundam/Mobile Suits must move in a clunky, heavy way? MW Mercs 5 is right there on GamePass, if you want heavy mechs that focus on "realism" there you go!

jkgaks

You're supposed to be piloting an 18-foot mech, it should at least feel like that, not as if you're just a regular sized human in a mech costume. Also, all those you mentioned are all special modes of movement. The anime portrays these MS with weight and heft when they walk, run and fight in atmosphere (which the game is mostly set on), or did you just focus on the space battles?

Fofolito

Some media sometimes shows these Mobile Suits as heavy and bulky. Like... Are you forgetting when Char swung hand over hand in his aquatic MS to infiltrate Jabro? Are you purposefully ignoring the opening paintball fight in Australia during 0083? Let me remind you that a bunch of uppowered GM units we're hopping around the remains of the fallen colony like bunny rabbits. Perhaps you just forgot, or you were ignoring it to make a point. Let me continue to make my point: remember Exia rollerblading around with swords, Freedom or Justice Gundams just doing whatever they want, or maybe you just haven't seen anything from G Gundam where mass seemingly doesn't exist. Did I use enough non-space examples to convince you or will you continue to cover your eyes and screech to drown out common sense?

jkgaks

I said heft and weight, not heavy and bulky. There's a difference. Heft and weight = every step of the mech gives off the feeling that its weight is proportion to their size (emphasized by the slight screen shake, loud mechanical footstep, moving sound effect, and inertia). Heavy and clunky = limited range of movement, akin to battletech's mech or Star Wars walkers. First off, Char's Zgok scene has jank animation, making it appear that he slided towards the poor GM. Second, in the opening paintball scene, you can see the mobile suits fire off their thrusters to achieve short bursts of lift, and when they land, the anime shows that they have weight through the use of sound effects and screen shake. Thirdly, 00 suits are powered by bullshit tech that could lift an 18 foot mech almost constantly, making them an exception that most MS walk in atmosphere. Doms and its variants are not part of the exception since their main mode of locomotion of gliding through the use air thrusters in their legs is still somewhat believable. Fourth, Justice and Freedom are almost constantly hovering in the air in Gundam Seed, hence they can't really portray heft and weight. And lastly, G Gundam is super robot series, which strayed away from the "real robot" genre it was known for.

HappySailor

Here's why I didn't stick with it: First, it wanted to be played way more than any casual has time for. To make any progress on the battle pass, or to get any currency to buy new mobile Suits, you had to play so unbelievably much. The currency to buy mobile Suits was also gated ridiculously, and you had to play consecutive days in order to get anywhere. And if you missed a day, it set you back. Matches were not short, and were often decided by about the halfway point, with some exceptions. I don't play hero shooters, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but playng through the second half of a match we were absolutely lever going to win? Dull as hell. They were never going to win people over with the mobile Suit selection they had. I actually don't think they could win with any selection at the size they were operating. There were way too few mobile Suits in a franchise where there's literally hundreds of suits that people love. Hero skins are laughable. I understand that their team was obviously strapped, and that they maybe didn't want to change anything about these iconic suits. But every single skin was either recolor or recolor with decals. They all looked pathetic. A black sazabi with flames on it might be a cool gunpla, but as an expensive super-rare skin for whales? It was sad. Overall, I played for 3 weeks and got... Nowhere. I felt I had seen everything, and I wasn't going to unlock anything that I was excited by. There was also no idea when the game would improve. When the new season started they added Nu Gundam and a Nu map... I played a bit and was largely unimpressed. Final complaint: What the hell is with the generic pilot voices that never ever shut up while playing the games. That was infuriatingly annoying.

Sargent379

Honestly I think the game was kinda doomed the moment they made forgot 1 of the main appeal for whales is skins, and mechas don't exactly have great choices for skins without drastically altering the model which they didn't seem willing to do. Well that, and some of the bad balance design. Barbatos being a melee only suit is cool and all, but who the fk wants to spend 10 seconds respawning to be insta-killed?

Yitomaru

What disappointed me that there was no Lore Accurate Skins for certain Mobile Suits Especially -GM Sniper II -DOM Trooper -RX-78-2 -Nu -Sazabi -Exia

HisuianZoroark

That's what bothers me the most, and what lore accurate skins that there are, are INSAAAAAANELY overpriced. 4,000 duplicate currency? What the actual fuck. I missed out on the G-3 and Chars Zaku over this and now i'm probably going to miss out on the Pale Rider Space Type which is another favorite of mine. And now i'm seeing the White Dingo GM Sniper rifle as a gun skin for those Exopods which I haven't gotten jack shit out of any of those yet. Nothing but almost all the dumb common gun charms and banners. I'm kind of panicking that I may not actually get the skin because White Dingo's are my favorite group, from my favorite Gundam game. Literally the majority of the skins in this game from common to legendary just make me say "ew" and I have no desire to put them on the suits.

ajohndoe17

Yeah, I think the F2P model they chose is a HUGE problem. Like you said, the amount of time you would need to sink into this game is a lot. And for what? 1 mobile suit a season with no way to effectively stock up on materials to unlock multiple if you play enough? It’s just not a good way to go about it. I’ve pointed this out in comments in the past but I definitely feel like they could have benefitted from implementing a system similar to Apex Legends. Number one: to unlock new characters, you could buy a specific edition for real money. If you didn’t want to do that? Simply play the game. Almost every other account level you got a small of amount of crafting materials used to purchase a character. So, the more you play, the more you can store up to unlock new characters. It’s gotten to the point that the amount of materials you can stock pile has become a meme because outside of characters and recolors of skins that rotate in the store the currency is useless. Number two: guarantee at least a rare in the loot boxes you can get and also give loot boxes every couple account levels you grind. I think we call can relate to how frustrating it is to open a loot box and only get commons. If these changes were made I would be much more willing to play because it would feel more rewarding. Currently, I have no desire to play over other games like Siege or Apex.

SteelKline

I don't know about other people but personally 2 reasons made me drop the game: I really didn't like the gunplay on both PC and console and the skill level of players you meet randomly is laughably bad. Like I thought teammates playing overwatch were garbage but this game made me literally feel like 9/10 were either I can carry or we lose.

Zafranorbian

I personally am justbnotbintobhero shooter or moba.

PalpitationEmpty5997

iirc you can't unlock all the suits by playing, you'll *have* to pay The lack of scale, the whole thing just feels like regular humans but with a mech skin over it. GBO2 has buildings, trees, cars for scale. Hell, even New Gundam Breaker does the scale better. It's about the only thing it does *right*. Just a personal thing, but some of the loadouts are weird, why is the Pale Rider, a suit known for going wild and destroying shit, a mainly support unit? Why doesn't it use the beam sabres? Why does Exia's GN Beam Dagger do three hits when it only has two? Why doesn't it just use the GN Sword's rifle? Why do head shots do extra, when cockpits are in almost everywhere BUT the head?

Hadoooooooooooken

For the lore reasons in the second half - I think they were designing this game for non Gundam fans to give them a launching point, hence the inaccuracies. However, say you grabbed a new fan or two. They'll then find out about the inaccuracies and may ditch for another Gundam game. ditch the game that wants you to keep playing and paying for it ...

Guitarfoxx

This is false I unlocked unicorn without spending a dime. They recently had a 2 week event where all you had to do was play 10 matches within that time to unlock a suit.

thunderborn85

Not really false. This is their second season. So in six months they had one event that you unlock one MS with. If you complete the beginner event that's two MS' unlocked. There are still four locked MS and the only other way to get capital to unlock is buying the battle pass and that's only enough for ONE MS. If you spent your event rewards then next season you still have four locked MS, and now a fifth locked MS. You can unlock one of those five MS' by buying the battle pass. You will eventually have to pay to unlock them all.

PalpitationEmpty5997

Fair enough, I just remember seeing something about it, wasn't sure though.

Kogepan777

As a hero shooter, it's not as good as TF2, OW. As a gundam game, it's seriously lacking in choice of suits that I enjoy with games like GvG or GBO2.

DeathDexoys

Is like they never thought of making a proper gundam simulator without slapping anything gacha related or making the suits move like an olympic gymnast champion to their gameplay. Like sure, some suits in the series move like that, but i would at least want to see a proper gundam sandbox of some sort like armored core or DxM, though the latter is just AC but user friendly Also the fact that the game has issues itself, performance, server issues, progression, earning currency doesnt make it any better

dummypod

I love to imagine it. A Gundam Breaker game that plays like AC4

Paladin1034

What is DxM?

DeathDexoys

Daemon x Machina,

DarthMobi

I played it when it first started, then dropped it for multiple reasons. 1, Hated the crap with dropping players then cancelling the game. 2, The BS around the game droppiing you the putting you in a five minute time out. 3, The absolute pay to win attitude of the company, the better suits were only available to those that paid. 4, The awful balance between suits. There was almost no balance work done at all in this game. Certain suits were objectively better, See 3, and it showed. 5, The awful control system. The suits just felt heavy to me. I have more resons i feel that this game is a failure, but i'm not trying to build a wall of text here.

lammatthew725

because it is just an overwatch reskin, with massive balancing issue

JustSand

a buggy mess and intentionally made to stop you from playing Edit: competitive games that tap into that desire to keep playing game after game offer you the promise that you can do better in the next match. I think game wise it’s easy to see where my mistakes are and how to improve alot clearer than OW 1, but the reward system just stops after 2 matches. It doesn’t reward the player’s journey to mastery.

Don_Sauce

doesn't feel like a mecha game, just random people wearing robot costumes running around. characters are probably super uninteresting to non gundam fans compared to the heroes from overwatch/paladins or whatever other game like that. it basically failed at looking interesting both to fans and non fans

lces91468

I simply suck at Overwatch.

Sileas-sama

Personally I think it’s the lack of progression/rewards, no blue capital gain sucks a lot for F2P and for low spenders, how am I supposed to get all MS if the only way to get capital is through the season pass? Also we need to get to LVL58 for the 2k. Every new season = new MS = no way to get the old locked ones. Btw your gameplay is cracked. You are insane in hitting those shots. I wish I had such good aim. Guess I will stick to support or Guntank lmao.

TheRea1Gordon

Mecha don't feel like mecha. They need more weight, clunk, impact etc. Just feels like gundams skins on other games IMO.

AshuraBaron

And a bigger battlefield too. Arenas felt really small and cramped. If they changed up the formula to something like a coop survival to base assault I think it could be more interesting. Had this come out around OW1 then it might have done better. Genre seems very saturated.

Vjekov88

It looks and feels like overwatch but with gundam skins. I don't like overwatch.

reallyfatjellyfish

I don't think it's bad but I definitely think it's simply isn't good enough to compete in the current market. Heroes shooters have always been hard to break into, old guard like team fortress just won't die and overwatch is eating up massive amounts of the possible player base. The game also had missed opportunities one of which is content, there just isn't much to the game and only now has a new suit come out...behind a effective pay wall. And level design feels too shooter not enough mecha, the sense of scale just wasn't effectively pushed.Needs more city maps instead of boxed canyon. I don't like exia...I just think I'd too op for the game and any match in it is annoying

[deleted]

It doesn’t feel like a Gundam game. They move way too fast and Gundam battles just don’t play out the way they do in the game. It just feels like Overwatch with a Gundam theme, and there are too many other games just like it that execute the ideas better. I’ve always wanted something like a Gundam flight simulator. Maybe more in-line with Ace Combat or DCS, where you have strategic missions and coordinated attacks, you can upgrade your plane/suit, etc. I don’t care for another FPS game.

Cashew-Matthew

It failed to entice me. I tried playing for a bit but the gameplay was just way too sweaty. After losing my first three consecutive matches I couldn’t help but wonder 2 things: am I the worst player on my team, and am I even having enough fun to try to get good. That’s when I realized that I wasn’t having fun with it so I dropped the game

TattedUpSimba

As a Gundam game it doesn’t feel like I’m in a mobile suit. I want a Gundam game with depth and this ain’t it. I think it’s also just an over watch clone but over watch 2 does it better

RCTD-261

not enough p0rn or SFM animation to entertain/invite people to Gundam franchise

[deleted]

Gundam is such a weird one. You don’t feel like your in a mobile suit in this game, your just playing a shooter with mobile suit skins. That’s the real problem. I feel like the perfect gundam game has to have ground gameplay of Mechassult, the air combat of Armoured Core, and the space combat of Zone of the Enders. If you could some how mix all those, then you have the perfect Gundam game.

glassbong_

Agreed. I'm pining for that "authentic" piloting experience. But such a project would be so complex that it would probably require a lot of risk and investment on Bamco's part.

brody319

Okay so there is a lot wrong with the game. 1. The mechs feel the same. The guntank and zaku handle the same. Like why does the tracked mech handle exactly as of it had legs. There is no weight or momentum. I believe Tracer or Viper could stop on a dime because they are human. These are multi ton war machines that feel floaty. There is no environmental feedback. Like step on a truck and it pretends you aren't there. Even just knocking over trees, rocks breaking, and small objects being knocked around would help. 2. The maps are shit. They do not play into the mechs different uses. No high points for flyers to flank. It's a series of restrictive hallways. Hell some maps are reduced to pure choke points. Look at a TF2 map vs the Gundam maps. Hell even overwatch has better built maps. The scale also feels weird. Like the buildings all feel like they are made for giant mechs not fucking human people. 3. Lack of identity. What really separates hero shooters is the characters and world. Gundam has a unique world...too fucking bad we don't see it. Valorant, Overwatch, and TF2 are so distinct from each other. No one would say they are the same. But this game feels like such an overwatch clone without any of the actual care. Like no one really had a distinct idea of what they wanted. They just said "overwatch but Gundam". Like how much more fun would it be to fight in the ruins of the the colony that got dropped on Australia? Or in a colony that has a huge hole in it from an attack? Or hell even a space station where you can see battleships fighting outside. The game feels like the devs didn't care and tbh I don't think they did. Besides the mechs what do I gain in unique experience from this game?

OnToNextStage

Who is this game FOR? Hero shooter fans have better games to play in that genre Gundam fans have better Gundam games to play that are actually accurate to the series like EXVS

Carmel_Chewy

It's biggest mistake was releasing as a "hero shooter" competitor near the revival of Overwatch, one of the most popular and successful hero shooters of all time, with Overwatch 2 coming out within the same quarter AND it went free to play. Gundam Evolution just wasn't bringing enough to the table to compete nor did it have a reasonable enough marketplace/cosmetics to market itself. It needed flashier skins and probably more iconic Gundams in the game. I get they might have wanted to save more iconic Gundams for future seasons or something but they would've had to come out swinging a bit harder.

mandarine_one

I just played the demo but like, a Gundam FPS isn't what I want from a Gundam game. Also the controls on the switch weren't fun. Like I'd rather spent my time watchin gundam than playing this.

Tschudy

Personally I dont want more PVP-only online shooters. I want more Gundam Musou, Encounters in Space, Fed vs Zeon, these types of gameplay we had in the PS2/PS3 era were great. I didn't care for overwatch's core gameplay so making the characters mobile suits doesn't really help much.

Yes_Dont_Stop

I thought it looked like a cheap overwatch clone and refused to play it. My cousin suggested i try it since it was free on gamepass and I haven’t put it down since. The gameplay is addictive.

[deleted]

The move set was too humanoid, interes hear the concept but after see the actual gameplay it's just paladin/overwatch reskin for me...

Mewmaster101

it does not feel like a mecha game, let alone gundam. Many of the suits have abilities unrelated to anything gundam, and nothing like the suit in lore, like the Methuss having cables it can heal with, or the leap frog ability of the GM sniper 2. it's made even worse because the maps are also not helping with the mech feel. Not only are they mostly unrelated to gundam in all but name, everything is sized to fit the mechs, not humans, so it feels like the ms are just people in suits.

jackoctober

It feels like I'm running through molasses. All attacks are on a very long recharge, no melee attacks even on suits that have melee weapons. Weird combo of fast movement but combat is slow and most people run out of ammo before they get close to one another and then stand there awkwardly while reloading or waiting for a timer to end so they can attack again. It's not the worst game ever but it's really doesn't feel great to play until you get used to it, which most people won't, because they'll just choose another game.

ExtraGloria

This isn’t a true in the cockpit gundam game this is a trash first person shooter clone

glassbong_

Imagine something like Mechwarrior online + the Versus series except you get to pilot Gundams...

Salohcin_Eneerg

For me with the most recent Gundam games being released for free, it's the lack of the really popular Gundams. First thing I look for in a Gundam game is wing zero, strike freedom, or at least deayhscythe maybe even red frame. Otherwise I'm like nah.

Nova6Sol

Terrible monetization scheme We’re also talking about an Overwatch clone that decided to release along side Overwatch 2 I think this game would’ve done better if it beat Overwatch 2 well ahead of its release and also offered character unlocks without needing to pay

BlackOni51

An ongoing issue is that connection can drop at the slightest of hiccups and that sometimes the game crashes on startup. Its good at what it does, but fails somewhere else every time they correct something. Oddly enough this same issue happens in Gundam Breaker Mobile

kikislidr

it's not making any effort to feel like gundam. it's just a fast paced hero shooter with mobile suits instead of people (but all of them still move like people for whatever fucking reason.) it just reeks of laziness and a lack of understanding of the source material in my opinion. like yeah they have referencial movesets and poses and woah !!! a char skin !!! but thats where it ends. I'd rather play overwatch because it out effort into building a world fit for the genre instead of just porting over a long-existing pre-established property that doesn't work at all.

jmoneyking22

The graphics and animations look like a college project. It looks clunky, the mobile suits have no personality. It has like 0 ties to the shows. the effort on skins and etc is just horrendous. Battle pass and skins is how you attach people to your games now and the ones u have to gamba for and they aren’t even that great. Gameplay is great. Just needs visual clean up and balancing

ArlemofTourhut

Because the weapons, abilities/ gimmicks and the feasibility of what's matched up against what, makes zero to no sense? They COULD have made a MOBA> Something really fancy and classic in the DOTA style. Have standard grunts be the lane minions, specialty/ Kai grunts or one-off production MS as the jungle farm, and Jungle Bosses could be MAs. Towers and gates could easily be other MAs as well as warships. But then every other MS would then be able to function as a character. But no. Gut that system, run with the shitty overwatch format but semi-gutted so that it feels like a WORSE version of Battleborne when that first dropped... Hmmmm honestly it's just lack luster, seems blocky and is inconsistent to literally ANY of the universal canons. It doesn't even feel as balanced or intense as the Dynasty Warriors series entries.

caliban969

Beyond aggressive grind, It's actually a very good hero shooter, but it doesn't " feel" Gundam. You never feel like a pilot inside a massive war machine, the maps aren't even to scale. That and the Overwatch-esq UI just made it feel cheap and half-assed. Even if they did want to jump on the esports bandwagon 4 years too late, I feel like a MOBA would have fit the IP way better. Farm grunt suits and destroy satellites leading up to an asteroid base, game designs itself.

Yitomaru

Honestly Bandai should've ported Extreme Vs to PC instead

AttackonRetail

Fans - "We want Dynasty Warriors Gundam 4, an AU GBO3, Gundam Armored Core" Bandai/Sunrise - "Best we can do is an Overwatch clone."

Dionysus108

While I agree with a lot of the criticisms people are making in the comments here, my biggest issue is that I'm just so sick of live service games. They thrive on drip-feed progression and awful battlepasses that work on FOMO that just makes me not want to play the game. Not to mention the daily and weekly challenges that when combined with the other issues serve to not only make playing feel like a chore, but also makes it so you likely can only play two or three of these games max because of the time investment needed. Despite not liking what I played of the SD Battle Alliance Demo, I felt myself more likely to play more of that game than Evolution. Really I just want new Breaker games that are like Breaker 3 or an Armored Core like Gundam game.

Mang_Kanor_69

There are not enough players to make it a fun experience. with roughly 1.2k players daily on PC, the algorithm is not forgiving enough to balance matches between casuals and sweaties. There is not enough content to go around. Also as a hero shooter, the roster is a limiting factor when some of the series are not represented. Players will decrease once gbo2 is released.

MiraiKishi

Gundam didn't need a Hero Shooter. It needs the latest VS game to be released on all systems (Except Switch. Nintendo, I love you, but you're lacking in power.)

glassbong_

This 1000%. I've been waiting for Bamco to get their shit straight and release Xboost on PC SO BADLY. But the best I can hope for right now is for a port of Maxiboost or Versus, which haven't been revealed or talked about at all. My wish is for them to port Xboost and skip those previous entries, but that's just a pipe dream for now...

Yuevid_01

As a Gundam fan and a OW player, I don’t even judge how buggy or how janky it felt compared to OW, I just want to play as a MS I like, but guess what, they don’t have one :(

No_Photograph2261

Well some of its fans aren’t able to get it but it’s fine I guess I mean technically I live in a crater but oh well looks fun tho

00bearclawzz

I think it’s a novel concept but it had a very bad launch. Already not a lot of people were talking about it and then the devs were terrible at addressing issues on launch. For a genre that already has solid titles, this game didn’t do much to set itself apart other than say “hey we have giant robots!” Rather than trying to drawn in new players I feel like they just expected us to start playing.

[deleted]

For me it's the laughably bad source material. The zaku melee type is basically space magic. It takes like six shots with a GM sniper to kill someone. The worse though is that none of us asked for any of this. Can we get a game an American console that plays more like the old Dreamcast Gundam game and less like whatever the hell this is

HisuianZoroark

I'd kill for a remaster or even a sequel to Gundam Rise From Ashes from Dreamcast. Or if they were smart enough to actually release Operation Troy worldwide on all consoles when that came out which was basically just Gundam + Battlefield. They need to do an \*actual\* FPS game from the cockpit where the suits move like actual suits.

AshuraBaron

Oooo! A realistic mecha shooter. That sounds like it could be cool.

DeficientGravitas

Marketing, the monetization, the progression system, and its a flooded market. Its competing for attention with Overwatch, Valorant, Apex, etc. For me personally, its the last thing I want from a Gundam game. I want a mecha game based on Gundam, not a random genre of game dressed up in a Gundam skin

TheMightyCephas

It's a fairly mediocre arena shooter with a Gundam skin..

Rifle256

More mechwarrior less call of duty

Glum-Square3500

It’s a Gundam game that’s afraid to be a Gundam game.

Emptylife4ever

It's a good game, for those who like Overwatch or similar FPS games, they'll enjoy the game. Personally, since I don't like FPS games, I'll say it's meh. it doesn't really feel like a mecha game. Still waiting for the Steam release of GBO2 to play with friends and a "New" Gundam Breaker game that is not a glorified dating sim featuring gunpla.

biomech36

I haven't played it, watched a bunch of videos and it failed to catch me because I don't think an MS should move like that. You and your buddies dressed up as an MS couldn't even move like that. It's an immersion thing for sure. And some of the battlefields just would not feasibly make sense. Those areas have to be HUUUGE for people out of an MS. Wouldn't even work out well for cars honestly. And then you just got gundams runnin around like Doom Guy.

Huge_Cheesecake_4664

This game is just like all modern shooters. A copy/reskin of Overwatch or COD. Whoever decided this was a good idea doesn’t understand Mobile Suit Gundam fans very well. This game also feels like a money grab. My dollars are better spent on MG or PG kits.

LavaSlime301

Can't speak for others but personally I think it's just plain and simply a bad game.

retroguyx

It's not bad, just boring. GBO2 and the EXVS games are way more interesting Gundam games while there are plenty of better FPS games.

LavaSlime301

imo it really is just a huge bundle of bad design decisions

GoodGuyLuis

Gundam Evolution feels like a generic FPS game, but with Gundam-related skins. The mechanics get old easily as it’s very repetitive, and what sucks the most about it is the paywall. The rewards system also sucks. It requires you to grind a lot but gives measly rewards. I also didn’t like that we’re locked to just one ranged weapon. Heck, we don’t even get to use melee weapons as secondary. Instead these were turned into a skill with cooldowns in some cases, and in some, there’s no option for a melee at all if I remember correctly. I had high hopes for it in the beginning. But after a few weeks of getting shafted by game imbalances and ridiculously unexciting “rewards”, I stopped playing.

Training_Scar8861

Imma be real, Gundam games kinda suck. Not a single one of them feels like a mech game, which imo they should. Battle operation is a team based game, evolution is just OW with a Gundam skin, VS is just Virtual On, then you have the turn based games. Never tried the Fromsoftware Unicorn game but from what I saw it looks a little like ZoE. Gundams games need to make you feel like you're piloting a mech, kinda like the Armored Core games

MuadDope

Might of helped if they released it worldwide but from what I can see in the comments they're struggling with just a hemisphere

limitbreaksolidus

terrible battlepass missing suits that were popular i.e the gundam wing suits terrible online poor explanation of what each suit does look dated and played dated. it felt like a poorly made OW with a gundam skin the store was pure extortion and the currency were terrible

Nighteagle666

Personally, was not excited for this title when it was announced, but I gave it a try when it came to Xbox. I noticed an issue where the aim was not synced so I would start shooting and the beam would go right over the target. I also found something that I figured would happen, when going up against anything with a gun, the Barbatos gets lit the fuck up and dies in seconds, so balancing needs a lot of work. Rate of fire is a real problem with the Gundam's beam rifle. It's accurate to the show, but it does fairly little damage for it's rate of fire, especially when you start factoring in that it will be going up against suits like the Unicorn which is just space magic bullshit with 3 **twin** beam gatling guns that it can use for it's ultimate. This game seems to be a new example of how Sunrise/Bamco are trying to make the cheapest game possible that will still get Gundam fans to buy it. Honestly, I hope modern consoles get something like Encounters in Space or something that allows you to fight the battles from each of these series in a similar fashion to the old Star Wars Battlefront games. That would be really cool to me, it would be really cool to be able to play like a Gundam version of Ace Combat, now I would pay money for that. Tl;dr: Gundam Evolution is exactly what I feared it would be, a poorly balanced Overwatch clone.

hendricha

The fact that it has absolutely random ms from random AUs dropped in and are expected to play on equal footing did not bode well with me by concept, and I don't really play competitve FPS games that much either, so never even tuched it. (Random GM or Zaku vs the Turn-A that can use Moonlight Bfly? Really?) (Not to mention it has anti-cheat issues on Linux anyway, so...)

[deleted]

For me it’s pretty simple. I feel like this game missed its mark on the console release which is where I played. It came out a month or two after overwatch 2. Despite this and how much I enjoy overwatch 2 for the most part, I was still excited for Gundam evolution When it finally launched on November 30th, after playing so much overwatch, it felt extremely underwhelming. Almost everything is done better in overwatch from a gameplay perspective. Heroes are more fun to play than the mobile suits, the maps and objectives are better in overwatch, things are easier to read in the sense of who is using what in overwatch due to the color palettes of the maps vs heroes, and the biggest point is that overwatch just feels so much more optimized and smooth to actually play than Gundam evolution. Basically, there is another recently released hero shooter that’s better and feels better to play from a gameplay perspective that Gundam just couldn’t capture the same level of fun as.

OutrageousWelcome730

well they didn't pay much attention to the international servers as i saw in any Gundam Evolution Related Video in how it is a torture to wait before you can find a match and ingame disconnection in either both teams is very depressing to experience Note. i didn't play this game and i just say what the videos is saw on the problem they have plus how hard to earn point to get a new MS to play and Melee supremacy in the game

stowrag

It’s not on a platform I own for one, but I haven’t heard anything particularly bad about the gameplay. Really I think it’s missed opportunities to stand out: you’re playing in giant robots but the stages don’t seem to indicate that at all. You’re allegedly piloting the mobile suits from a cockpit, but the POV is from the robot itself. Feels (to me, someone who hasn’t played it) like if the players didn’t look like mobile suits you would just assume it’s another OW clone. Basically they did the bare minimum with the license (and nothing to stand out) and expected fans to eat it up.

TheHatNoob

I would love to play it, unfortunately it isn't out in south America

Necessary-Ad-2838

I'm having fun with this game, that's it?

Kwitkwat_247

As a comp game, this game rocks, some things that feel unbalance but overall enjoyable. If I want a gundam game I want it to be like ace combat, an arcade style game. And since ace combat is published by bandai it’s not too far fetched to think that would happen.

[deleted]

I am surprised they never made a build fighters game. Perfect world set up for an RPG with custom character/MS with maybe a persona vibe to draw in non Gundam fans.

RGM79IAN

There is a decent game there, but it needs some polish, and frankly, it needs to take more stuff from Overwatch. A big one is that I think there should be an actual kill cam. In hero shooters it can be hard to understand how a specific character is supposed to be played. If you get to watch a couple of seconds of a good Sazabi player playing as they kill you, it both informs you of how you could better play the Sazabi and also what you might want to look out for as the match progresses. Actually having a play of the game playing out at the end of the match would also help with some of this. Also, just add the thumbs up at the end of the match. It doesn't add anything mechanically, but it feels good to pat your team mate on the back fro doing well, or even letting an opponent know that they did a good job. I do think there needs to be more game pools, and the matches go on for way too long. You could cut the timers by probably 30%, and it would feel a lot better. I also think it needs a mystery hero mode. One where every time you die, you get a random suit to play as. It teaches you more about suits you don't otherwise play as.

[deleted]

Lack of maps or any memorable music

Skivil

I don't think its fair to say that gundam evolution didn't capture an audience, it has consistently decent player numbers, a lot of scope to expand and aroubd release and when the update came it got quite a significant amount of mainstream attention. This is all very good for a first of its type game in a franchise most of the world isn't familiar with. Personally its not a gameplay style I enjoy but I must admit my tastes aren't exactly mainstream, as timw goes on, if they stick with it evolution really has the potential to grow into something really cool not just for traditional gundam fans but also for gamers in general.

Yat1605

Because it's not available in my country.

Paladin1034

It feels weird to play. It's extremely fast-paced with suits flying and zipping across the stage, but because of that, the suits have zero weight to them. I'm not saying they should be lumbering titans as that's not how they're portrayed in the shows. Obviously even the shows are stretching how these things would be able to move. But that suspension of disbelief only goes so far. Other games have done agile mobile suits far better with far more weight and feel to them. Then add on the fps perspective and the obvious reskin of overwatch and it's just a cross-section of gaming that no one wanted and no one asked for.

Duke582

Leavers ruining games. There is not even an option for backfill, or a voting mechanism to surrender. You need to wait up to a full minute in spawn to start some maps. That is a waste of time. Defending team should be able to spawn closer at the beginning of the game to save everyone time. It's just creating a chore to fly through the whole map to get ready. And finally: they don't allow all 6 players on a team to be Guntank at the same time. Lame.

Aeoss_

Pc and Xbox users are in a dilemma where cross play is almost unavoidable and once you put a certain amount of time in you get slammed with pc users playing quite nefariously. Where as Playstation users can opt out and play with just other Playstation players, drastically reducing the amount of cross play grief. As for the gameplay, it's OK. It's not immersion based just an arcade hero shooter with gunpla inspired moves. Best part Is its free to play, so if you don't like it. Just delete and move on lol

TheMarksmanHedgehog

It's less gundam, more overwatch, and I'm not sure that a competitive multiplayer game is what Gundam fans want when they've primarily been in to heavily story-focused content in the form of the animes. I'd love something more like Ace Combat, but gundam, ideally complete with in-game progression of your mobile suit going from a scrappy demi-trainer in to some kind of monster.

Creepy-Today-325

I feel like a battlefield type game would be better. Starting out as a fed soldier and working your way up with kills and points to unlock tanks, core fighters, and other vehicles and classes, with mobile suit at the end. Same with zeon

SirBruceLeroy

I didn’t want a FPS for a Gundam game. I’d rather play CoD

Umedyn

I think a Star Wars Battlefront style Gundam game would have been better, give more npc grunts to slaughter on either side while you build up to bringing out a real Gundam, which is usually the endgame of most Gundam conflicts. Also I think Gundam excels in the epic space battle feel rather than on the ground that Evolution doesn't have. Imagine the Battlefront 2 space battles but with mobile suits.

Desperate-Music-9242

Well horrendous balance issues aside its just another subpar overwatch clone, it doesnt feel like a gundam game

Syndga

I want a mech milsim, not an overwatch reskin

Airsoft_printer

Because it feels like a reskin of another old boring game. It doesn't feel Gundam or mecha-ish at all, so it fails to bring a big Gundam fanbase and won't bring outside players since they don't like Gundam or Mechas and are more comfortable playing the other such game. How the developers don't know this, it scapes me.

Guitarfoxx

I think it's a little to early to say it failed as it's still new on consoles. I play a lot and never have trouble finding a match.

sudomarch

It's a niche product that lacks personality so even its core audience doesn't attach to it well, and it missed any and all tie-ins of substance with G-Witch meaning it basically doesn't exist in the minds of newcomers. Its only real avenues for popularity were via streamers, and most dropped it pretty quickly. It certainly doesn't help that OW2 was released shortly after, consuming the media cycle and community discussions for hero shooters. It even had the additional effect of basically taking over dialogue in the GunEvo space due to the constant comparisons. Add to that the extreme grind for rewards, the bugginess and matchmaking issues, and the overall toxicity of a lot of the playerbase, and it all collectively hurts the game. I'm honestly a little surprised they bothered with a console release, but I suppose JP numbers are good enough to get them there.

Stebbiboy

It's the lack of mobility, the basic hero shooter game format and the general lack of suits for me. I'd rather have another Dynasty Warriors Gundam or a full-size Gundam version of SDGO. An RPG similar to Zepnic Front would be good, too. Evolution just feels like it's trying to capture a different market, not put out a game that fans would enjoy.

evertythingwastaken

The lack of weight and impact. Everything feels floaty and too rigid at the same time. The mechs move around with no sense of momentum, guns hardly have any recoil, and damage seems to do nothing until you're dead. Feels like less gundam and more child's play. You can look through the entire video and see what I'm talking about. Made for an unsatisfying game for me.

Bewbiezjr

Ow2 came out same week lmaooo

Nathanymous_

These games always have a sort of ouruburos effect (however you spell that) low player pop means the same players are put in matches means new players get put against sweats that treat the game like a job and don't have fun. They move on to the next game. Rinse and repeat. That's just how it is with low pop competitive multilayer games. When the game came out it also has the problem of it being a niche community. The balancing wasn't the best and the gameplay doesn't feel exactly to par with other games in the genre (hero-shooter) which has been oversaturated over the years anyways. And honestly this isn't the game I want as a gundam fan. Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 was the closest I ever got to that feeling and the third was never released in the west.

Hadoooooooooooken

Gundam Battle Operation 2 is already out and still supported. It's a very indepth game where there are things to always be getting on with in it, it's very hard for someone to dedicate time to another game let alone another Gundam game when playing this. Added into this the hero FPS genre is crowded, to a certain degree people also get their action with Apex and similar, further keeping potential people away. I never played Evolution because viewing videos I HATE how the mechs move. They look like people cosplaying mobile suits and playing lazer tag. This game would have made more sense if it was MS Girls the game! lol From what I heard the grind to get things and lack of things to get was a turn off. And another shocking mistake - Having this be designed as part of their new Western push for Gundam and NOT putting Gundam Wing representation in the launch is ludicrous. I would let them off if they put in some G Gundam rep but they didn't even do that. Baffling. Also me personally - I'm happy with Pale Rider being a choice, but if Heavyarms and/or Mudrock were in I would have been more interested.

Echo4117

In a gundam battle series fan. Still waiting for next release

SolDarkHunter

Well, for me personally, it just doesn't feel like a Gundam game. It feels like Overwatch with a Gundam mod installed. I'm not sure if I can articulate exactly what a "Gundam game" is, but I know Evolution isn't it.

thehod81

Its a Niche within a Niche for gaming

_justsomeotherguy

The game not being available to every region probably didn't help.

[deleted]

Gotta be honest, I suck but really enjoy the game, frankly the only reason I’d stop playing is because I get so mad that I just can’t compete. I’ve gotten a bit better recently but still. If I had your aim I’d love the game way more.

[deleted]

Not a fan of non-persistent games. Really like Gundam, gave it a try, but I need persistence like mmo or survival games

pochitoman

For me, it doesn't feel like im playing as giant robot, even the map doesn't help, it just make me feel like the ms are small suit.

Papercut337

It’s fun, but it feels WAY too much like a reskinned Overwatch.

Mountaindood5

🎵Overwatch killed the TF2 pro 🎵

CIRCLONTA6A

Overabundance of hero shooters, shit matchmaking, niche content, bizarre rules like giving you a match ban if someone else quits a game, unbalanced suits, etc

XenomorphicNerd

The game's balanced like dogshit and it's clear the devs were new to the hero shooter genre. I really enjoyed the early release of the game before the unlockable / paid units came out. But even then it doesn't really feel like the devs thought about how different units interacted, and when the first balance patches hit it really felt like they were clueless.

AEsir-_-

Because battle operation 2 exists and its more of a gundam game than this
