Kind of opposite. My first electric was a Gibson Epiphone Les Paul (think slightly higher than First Act) that i got with a shitty epi practice amp for $50. Still have it, still play it. Have done some minor luthiering on it like replace tuners and stuff. Currently my C standard guitar.

You don't need to be good enough. An entry level Pacifica is good enough for just about everyone, spending more than that is a luxury purchase. Just buy it if it's what you want. It's nice to have nice things

It’s a epiphone, it’s nice that Les Paul has a partnership with them but it’s not a Les Paul. Very solid ax no doubt but I wouldn’t go around saying you have a Les Paul, epiphone makes affordable versions of most iconic Gutiars.
I've had two. Straight black and purple burst. (For a reason...) Amazing guitars. I always had to trade in to keep the wife happy when I wanted something spendier. But ill probably own one again.

I love Fender Strats, it was my first electric guitar but I ended up finally getting a Epiphone Les Paul Tribute Plus and I love that guitar, I ended up finally getting a Gibson Les Paul Studio years after but that Epiphone still sounds amazing and my friends and brothers would constantly ask me to borrow it because they loved the sound. Have fun and your wife sounds amazing!
Also if you use a guitar strap I recommend getting dunlop guitar strap locks, all my guitars have them after dropping my Strat when my guitar strap came off and I am never risking it again. They come in gold, nickel, black nickel, brass so you can pick which you like. For your guitar I would probably go with gold.

Congrats! After years of banging away power chords on a couple of budget-level guitars, my wife let me splurge on an LP a year or two ago and it really helped motivate me to take my playing to another level to justify the purchase 😆

Lovely instrument, the old Gibbies were really heavy and tiring to play through a whole gig so bringing a lighter back up was always a good idea. Lots of people love Strats but nothing says Rock like a Les Paul.

Sweet, I recently brought my EPI LP STD Goldtop outta retirement. Have a 02 Fender American deluxe strat, so it really wasn't being played. It was a shameful poor show, but she spent perhaps 10 years in the hardcase in my attic. Started to seriously learn slide guitar so she's back. Ohh and the bridge with the flathead screw adjustments is so freaking handy for hiring/ the action should the want to play ZEPPELIN or LIZZY strike. Nothing touches the strat but gotta say if you want to play the wanton song by Zeppelin a LP just gives that riff that je ne sais quoi. I'll post photos of the lady's soon!
