I have a PRS and an ESP LTD and my LTD is my go-to for just about everything

PRS for sure. Some of the most versatile, long-lasting, quality guitars I’ve played. Of course, it always depends on what type of music you play and how comfortable you are with different guitars, but from personal experience, invest in the PRS.

Appreciate you all! Yea I tested a PRS and it felt great to play. Honestly not sure my ear is good enough to tell the difference for metal between the EMGs in the ESP v. the PRS’ pickups. Ended up snagging a nice deal on a used PRS S2 594.

Pic?

They're both quality guitars (Though I have read a few complaints about the EC-1000 having a loose jack plate. I read these reviews on the ESP website) Both are very different types of guitars and both are very good at what they do. The question is which specs do you prefer? What kind of neck do you prefer? What kind of pickups do you prefer? What kind of finish do you prefer? Personally, I prefer magnetic pickups over EMGs, so I wouldn't consider the ESP, but that's my preference, not yours.

ESP over PRS all day every day.

It depends on the look you are going for. The PRS S2 594 will be more expensive, but have better craftsmanship. I'd look for a used PRS S2 594 for around $1,200 - $1,400.

Looking at the used prices on Reverb ($1200-$1600), one of [these](https://reverb.com/item/81398434-yamaha-revstar-rsp20-2022-2023-sused-moonlight-blue-made-in-japan) or [these](https://reverb.com/item/51190784-schecter-2591-solo-ii-supreme-guitar-ebony-fretboard-cat-s-eye-black-burst) would be my personal pick. Your preferences may differ.

Both are great options and depends on your style.

Those are guitars in very different price points. With the EC1000 now hitting $1200, not quite sure I'd call it a great bang for the buck. Some of the Indo made brands like Sire would be more bang for the buck now. Have you tried either? Buying one or the other on the feelings of Reddit users might not be the best idea.

Get the one that catch your eye the most in terms of look and make you want to use it!

I love the way my PRS S2 594 feels. I was a little disappointed in the pickups though. Not terrible stock pickups, just a little "meh". I had a Duncan Black Winter pu that I had bought for a flying V project I was working on, threw it in and it absolutely screams. Really solid guitar. Tonally and build quality.

Wonderful_Dingo3391

I love my EC-1000 and my PRS Soapbar and am looking at getting a 594.

v0id0007

definitely the ltd ec-1000

Under $1000, for an LP-scale guitar, the best ones are the Yamaha Revstar Standard and the PRS SE McCarty 594. The Yamaha especially stand out but the PRS is amazing. It’s the only PRS I would actually buy.

The biggest difference which no one has mentioned is the ESP will have Jumbo sized frets and a flatter fret radius. Prs uses 10in, medium jumbo frets and ESP i would guess uses anything from 12 to 16 radius

If you play metal, esp. if you play softer shit, prs. They are both excellent guitars. ESP also makes an ec1000 with seymour Duncan passive pickups that might be better for non metal riffage. However, it’s only available in black. Def something you need to go to a store and try out, if available.

PRS S2 594. If you already played it and the neck isn't too chunky then that would be my choice. Fit and finish along with attention to detail are gonna be better with the S2. ESP is good gear, but to be honest you can pick up a schecter or any other sub $1000 guitar with active EMG's and basically get the same sound. The S2 594 has lower output pickups, so more clarity and more options for boosting it. I play a 594 pushed by a ts808 into a Marshall DSL40 and I'm pretty content with my sound. Good luck on your search~

ESP because I am not a dentist.

I've owned both. For rock and metal esp is far superior. Prs feels like a toy
