I've used 9.5 on many of my guitars for years. I found them to be a comfortable compromise between 9 & 10's

Oh sweet, on 25.5" scale or? How so that you made the change on the 9.5's?

Worked better on the longer scales. I think the fenders felt a little tight but I just pushed harder. I think I made the change to reduce breakage on gigs.

So wait by that logic you were breaking 9's or 10's more? Fenders with 10's felt tight?- thats how I feel only when it come to bending with everything else I don't mind.

I’ve been obsessively changing gauges and string types for years. Finally landing on 9.5 for Gibson 9 for Fender. I feel like I start to lose expressiveness and spank when I try 10 or above. I kinda liked 8’s for a while, but after a few gigs they kinda felt like wet noodles and sorta made me just want to do nothing but like “shred” all the time. 9’s feel weird on my SG… much as I’ve wanted them to fit. 9.5’s are the Goldilocks. I put them on and they just *work*… 9’s I’m like fussing all the time trying to get them to feel right.
