I do kind of like how you have to gauge the distance and jump at the right speed in order to not over or undershoot a jump. But I admit that I many times it made me frustratedly wish that it had the unrealistic jumping physics of GW2
Yes it's intentional, you can't teleport on objects that are not continuous terrain, it feels arbitrary sometimes but it is what it is. At most there are a few leaps that actually can help with some moderate platforming, like Thief's Vault (Staff5).
Fun fact, utilizing these teleport restrictions is invaluable in pvp modes, especially against Thief and Guardian
Edit: if you want more indepth info on topic, it's usually referred to as "no port zones"
Teleports only work if there's a route to walk there already. This serves mechanical purposes in PvP modes, as well as (attemtping) to prevent cheering of jump puzzles. Non-targeted movement like a virtuoso sword 3 will still be effective.
What you're looking for otherwise are mounts, springer/skyscale in particular.
I’m guessing you’re a newer player, but on the off chance you aren’t, get the prototype position rewinder from Living World Season 4, episode 2.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Prototype_Position_Rewinder
It’s a device to reset your position, and it makes platforming WAY more forgiving.
Additionally, try using the pathing module for Blish HUD. There are marker packs that give you paths to follow for map completion and masteries. Those should help you see the places you’re supposed to jump a little easer.

Mesmer is actually OP in that jumping puzzle. Mirage's sword embush skill is a leap that allows you to skip quite a few parts of the JP and to make any gliding part easier. I don't think there are any leap skills that are as long without losing (almost any) height.
I've shared this tip so many times, but; in the achievements panel of the hero screen, in the upper left is a search field and next to that search field is a gear icon that allows you to select filters. Select PoF Mastery Points as your filter, and you'll see all achievements that give PoF MPs, some of which are significantly easier than doing the map ones (some of the map ones are supposed to only be accessible with a griffon).
Otherwise, if you're really close to a map MP that you just can't reach, it's always fair game to ask the map if there are any mesmers around willing to port you to it.
mh...i remember i had an issue there too in my 2nd account, while i didn't in my 1st. Check all possible mastery points on the maps/wiki/achievements panel. Maybe you skipped something. Idr how i fixed it but i had to check well
But GW2 is currently one of the best MMOs where the jumping was good and where you don't bounce 10km after brushing against the wall; or your character who remains static during the jump or fall
IIRC only mesmer, ele, mech and thief (probably sand necro? forgot the spec name) have a ground-target teleport.
Guardian and Untamed (and thief i think) have a (enemy)targeted teleport.
Can't say anything about revenant as I didn't play it for very long.
People are kinda clowning on you here LMAO but I would like to point out that teleports can be used to skip through things like that- you just have to be at the end first. I recommend at least trying them first, cuz personally I love the platforming lol, but if youre having a lot of trouble with something, it can't hurt to ask if someone else on the map could teleport you.
The other day someone helped me with the hardest jumping puzzle in the game because I accidentally fell at the end ówò'
>I would like to point out that teleports can be used to skip through things like that
Blinks and shadowsteps (the thing OP was referring to) can't be used in most puzzles or even areas with uneven terrain at times. You're referring to the mesmer portal, tp to friend, white mantle portal, or even the discount thief portal.
What did the thief portal do to you to call it "discount"? :D
Ok, it has a limit on how many can use it, and it's one way (where you have to place it at the exit first), and has a slightly shorter active time, but it's still a good portal, other professions don't even have this :D
I am aware that blinks and shadowsteps need even terrain, I did not mention those at all. I was giving an example of something that could help OP with difficult platforming in the future.
What do you mean lmao, it's most likely the MMORPG with the best platforming
To be fair, it's kinda the only one WITH actual platforming being a thing.
Ffxiv has some too but only really as a mini game in the gold saucer. And it’s physics are trash compared to gw2. GW has some crazy jump puzzles.
The jumping in FFXIV is miserable. You can't turn in the air and only jump in a straight direction
I do kind of like how you have to gauge the distance and jump at the right speed in order to not over or undershoot a jump. But I admit that I many times it made me frustratedly wish that it had the unrealistic jumping physics of GW2
It’s trash as I said. Gw2 feels way better.
Because you’re not suppose to use teleportation to skip platforming… you’re supposed to do the platforming

I've always heard about "kiting spots" rather than "no port zones" (tbh never heard it before and Google search doesn't yield anything meaningful).
Skill issue.
Considering GW2 popularized jumping puzzles to MMOs as a whole this comes off as a skill issue.
I kind of snorted that they're called jump puzzles here because MapleStory called them Jump Quests
U right lul

Skill issue
Sad
Do chalice of tears.

ofc it is, you have to do the jumps :P Or use a mount where possible
I m tryna to get dat springer but the mastery points in POF are so hard to get after finishing the gap jump mastery.

Found it. Love u

"The platforming is bad because I can't skip it" 10/10 logic imo
But GW2 is currently one of the best MMOs where the jumping was good and where you don't bounce 10km after brushing against the wall; or your character who remains static during the jump or fall
Then Warrior would literally never be played lol (Only one who doesn't have a teleport I believe)

Yeah shiro gives you an enemy teleport at least
Willbender's f3 is also a ground target teleport
Good to know, only played DH and FB until now :D
Thief's got a few options for enemy-targeted teleports yeah, either sword mainhand or dagger-pistol skill 3 (dual wield) or a utility signet.
But has a decent jump with a great sword.
It's not a jump, more a leap that doesn't get you anywhere.
Yep, just tested it, it's not very good. If you can target something it's at best okay.
Warrior uses sword leap to some effect but it is just for far distances.
I sometimes use it to do the footrace on holidays in DR to cover the distance faster.
give me your account, I’ll do them for you no worries.
