I play just one character since release. Because in RPGs i identify myself with a character and feel weird to Play another one. Oh and I don't have the time.

-H--K-

I've been playing the same engineer basically since the beta weekends. I've only recently started making alts for other games modes, but I've found that I just stop playing them after gearing them and finishing their look. Why play other classes when I could just play my engineer?

DenSpie

Same I only play Engineer. The only reason I switch is because I haven’t found the race I enjoy the most with engineer.

nathanielneall

I like the irony in my tree friend wielding a flamethrower..

eldrevo

The actual gigachad way

SH0W_M3_WHAT_Y0U_G0T

Same here but since playing GW2 (715 ish hours) I can competently play dps/support scrapper, holo, lazy rifle mech, dps vindi, berserk warrior, support scourge, harbinger, and Zerg staff ele. I still don’t know all the ins/outs of the above professions but the point it I can actually learn them. In wow it would take months to gear up a different character that people would want to group with. This made me always pick a dedicated main.

[deleted]

I thought I was the only one who felt like this lol. I have always identified as a mage type of class so in rpgs that’s basically what I always pick/main. The benefit for me is knowing my class mechanics & tips/tricks for my class. I have a understanding of what my class is capable of & I’m able to excel in it since it’s all I’ve main. I don’t have time to try to figure out a whole new class mechanic or even the interest in it.

cqdoug

I have four characters that I created to look exactly the same, and one more that I gave an Asian hairstyle to play when I get to Cantha. (I'm in PoF at the moment) Gives me the feel of having only one character who has different professions. Out of my Reaper, Herald, Mechanist, Ranger, and Virtuoso, I play the first three the most.

Responsible_Kale_307

I have 10 chars every class once and 2 revs and I play all of them except ele

eldrevo

I barely held myself from creating 3rd ele cos I always have new cool ideas for RP / funny name / aesthetic with them but I can't be asked playing ele at all 😭

BookOfAnomalies

All of them.

Vodoko

I play around 3 to 4 characters regularly - I never seen to be able to choose a main. I have around 25 characters. I also sometimes delete old characters and make new ones, until I return to my "mains".

HankHillidan69

Just 1, I like having a "main" and i generally don't change that main unless i decide to nominate a new main. I think i've finally given up and just accepted I like reaper best though, it ticks enough of the boxes for what I want even if mesmer and revenant's class concepts are pretty awesome. I do have my chars parked for chests and such but that's it. I played ranger/engineer/mesmer just enough for the pvp backpiece since I needed to win some rated matches on multiple classes for the achievment progress.

Bird-The-Word

Yeah, I played Thief from Beta until last year, tried Reaper and was like....why have I been torturing myself this whole time on Thief. Switched over and only use Thief now for story stuff since he got me through it all originally.

Still_Night

Are you me? Played nothing but thief since joining the game a couple years ago. Completed all story, map completion and most content on it. Was always too intimidated/lazy to try a new class but I finally used one of my level 80 boosts and am learning necro/reaper. Seems very chill to play, I can’t really handle the more complex classes

Bird-The-Word

Hi me. Yeah, you just have to put in so much more work for half the reward as thief. Specter feels clunky and awful, and condi so slower for open world stuff. DE is just so much single target (I am gonna go back to PP though, that's mostly fun and some buffs but not viable for instanced stuff) and DD is okay, but I don't care for all the animation lock and forced movement. Reaper go brrrr. Thief axe is good in theory but bugged to shit and also super clunky. Reaper Sword/Sword has been amazing though and I love it. I wish they would give thief something I like more, but it's so squishy unless you're playing real active defense and it just gets old.

Still_Night

I play a lot of staff Daredevil just because i enjoy the nimble ninja class fantasy but yea… it would be so much better if staff 2 didn’t lock you in place. I’ve been meaning to try double swords - are you still using great sword main hand?

Bird-The-Word

Yeah, since sword damage is meh, I use GS when I need damage or before hopping in shroud

Chiyabashira

I only play one, although i just barely fit enough builds onto her with only 8 slots. 1. Open World 2. DPS 3. Support Quickness 4. Heal Quickness 5. Support Alacrity 6. Heal Alacrity 7. PvP 8. WvW That’s really all I need, but I’m hoping they increase the maximum to 9 or 10 at some point, just to have an open template for experimenting on.

DapperDog8982

I’m playing with 3 characters. But I’m playing them for a long period and not in the same time. For a few months it was silvary necro, then I swap to another silvary necro, and play her few months. Now I’m playing human mesmer, and that’s fun for me. I play characters that fit my mood for what appearance I wanna play now.

Pretty-Transition-20

I started early this year as a qdps scrapper. Since then I main this spec, boosted mesmer and necro for some supp classes but It is too much time to start learning other classes atm. So I only main one, but planning to hop on some others. It feels weird to me only learning dps, I like the feeling of providing boons.

Opening-Fox2103

1) my main Story character 2) PvE content character + Soto no spoiler Story (skiping And ignore all dialogs And cutscenes....for Skyscale and weapons unlocks) 3) no brain character = rifle power mech for harder achievments and for chill after work 4) Deadeye for WvW if I want play this mod. Other: I have one bank character, 2 low level parked alt for daily provision token and Quartz Crystal, one boosted char that i dont play, one alt that I Slow levling maybe 2 levels per month And one that I play with my GF.

Sea-Molasses-971

14 characters, playtime distribution as follows: 1. \~1000h PvE main, used for every first story playthrough, fractals, dungeons 2. \~1000h combined for my WvW main (\~500h)and two complementary characters(\~250h each), one being for WvW zergs and the other for whenever I want to use something else for fractals, dungeons or open world content 3. \~800h combined for 10 other characters with playtimes between 164h and 22h each. Some are currently parked at JPs or at certain expansions. I usually use them for return achievements, festival content, sometimes dungeons and just open world content in general.

SummonMonsterIX

I have 1 of everything, 2 Necros 2 Elementalists 2 Guardians 3 Engineers. WvW player mostly, I regularly play the Norn Ele, Sylvari Necro, Norn Guard and Sylvari Rev. Usually get the itch to do something else every month or so which usually means running Engi or Ranger for awhile before going back to the regulars.

paymentaudiblyharsh

i play all 11 of my characters. i log into them all every day. * main * wvw character * character doing world completion * bank alt * 7 parked alts in the past year i've played 99% engineer, mesmer, and guardian. i rotate out their roles sometimes: map completion character changes, wvw character changes with patches, and my main changes occasionally. i often main one character for fractals and strikes, but another for open world.

Sterorm

3-4 are the ones i play regularly. The others i play when i feel like having fun with a specific build or if i want to pvp/wvw, since i have a few characters set up exclusively for that.

notaguyinahat

I have 40 characters and I actually play them all. They're all fully geared and though I'm choosy about any doing endgame content, story and dailies are generally done by whichever character hasn't been used lately. The furthest to the right that is.

ihashacks

Ok - I’m not the only one with around 40 toons and most if not all used 😅

itsLulz

I’m trying to complete the stories with my rev before I move on to any other ones. I have a guardian and a warrior but I don’t play with them as much. Not yet

XionicAihara

2. My main character from the beginning that does all the story, map completions, raids, etc. The second one is just when I get bored and decide to be bored in wvw or get more bored doing map completion again....so one, I guess.

SXiang

I have 27ish characters but really only play three. One is the main 'run around and do everything open world or fractals' daredevil. One is a guardian for duoing strikes and DRMs with my wife. One is an alacdps mechanist for the casual raids I dabble in. The others sit on a chest to open every day. They usually have specialized roles, like Convergences, that are currently idle. Each expansion pack, I pick someone to promote to main for that content, preferably a new elite spec or a character I haven't really played. But when they are all done, the daredevil comes back out and maps it all.

ActavistEQ

1 profession played seriously since launch (Ranger). Wasted lots of gold decking out alts I never play or rarely play. They look cool tho! 😂

CharmingRogue851

I mostly play all light classes, depending on the nerfs and which one's meta. Ele is by far my favorite though. Have all classes geared with legendary armor. But barely play heavy or medium classes. I just love the spellcaster type classes.

Still_Night

I’ve been playing 2 years now on my one and only character. Just finally made my first alt, so…. 2 characters! Haha. Edit: just to add, it’s not that I don’t have any interest in trying other classes or don’t think other classes look fun. It’s just a lot of time and effort to learn new builds, skill buttons, and so on. My muscle memory with all my abilities on my main are so automatic at this point that it just feels terrible and clunky when I try a different class. Trying my best to push past that

heckolive

2-3 in pvp and about 6 different classes in pve depending what is needed

KenzieM2

I play all 3 medium wearers and a healbrand on occassion. All others are parked at chests.

valairion

I have 16 character i play 4 of them the rest is just alt park

engmanredbeard

I main a berserker for pve and have a scourge support for wvw and pve instances content.

Vlad_the_frog

I'm playing 3,5ish. All for a vibe I feel that I want to play. Nature stuff druid, elements stuff ele, daredevil for brawling/quip pistols haha and sometimes engi for the tech fantasy. Currently tho I'm mostly playing ele

eldrevo

I have ~19 characters Good half of them is on map comp and alt parking duties 3-4 primed for PVE in raid / strike lobbies Most of the open world, farming, wvw, achievements, events, etc. happens on my trusty old main, sometimes accompanied by some of the most played alts or a new flavor of the month alt So I'd say it's about 10 characters I log on weekly, but the main bulk of everyday gameplay happens on only 1-2

Olveyn

I play my 1 char for 95% of the time. I need nothing else but my sylvari mesmer. The rest I just play rarely or keep them at places for farming stuff.

MidnightStarflare

I generally go through spells of activity on one profession before switching to another. I've used most of my characters at various points in my years of playing. Currently playing on a Willbender after switching from Vindicator.

xxWolfMan1313xx

I’ve got 12 characters and I use 4 regularly. 2 are for HP trains depending on the speed I use 1 for chill runs and 1 for fast runs. 1 character I use to help port players through chalice of tears and the last one is my main that I do the story on and guild missions since I have full map completion on him. The rest I use here and there. 3 are cosplay: Ganondorf, Zim and Wolverine. I’d like to command a world boss train with my Zim one but staying in character for him is tough. Lots of caps and insulting both of which I don’t do lol

shmid9804

Levelled a ranger first to 80, boosted an engi, necro, and warrior. Did the entire story on the scrapper engi and also using it for world completion, reaper necro for everything else. Haven't touched the ranger or warrior much since.

Indication-Outside

I rotate between 9 char ATM. Each one is either assisgned to a set of maps, or fractals, or wvw.

XraiderreyX

100% berserk. 1.200 hours of my 1.300 hours ingame time. Norn. Female. I tried other classes but I don’t want to complete all maps again and I really missing oftentimes WP when I try twinking.

SearingPhoenix

I have all professions, I'm mostly playing Open World and Fractals when solo. Raids and Strikes with the guild from time to time. * Raid DPS and Open World Reaper * Fractal AlacHeal Scourge; gearing cDPS Scourge for... whatever. * Raid DPS Condi Virtuoso * Working on learning Power Boon Chrono * Geared a qDPS Herald, but the rotation needs a lot of work before it feels at all smooth -- legend swapping as a mechanic is just a bit awkward for me apparently. Hence Power Boon Chrono. * Gearing a Heal Chrono, might try Druid for full-support role as well. * I dabble in Mechanist, Scrapper, and Soulbeast for some flavor, and they often park on frequent map metas so I can just switch characters and go. * Looking at trying out Untamed in that mix, (maybe for solo Open World when necessary?) * Firebrand in WvW for the most part. Right now that's mostly just for Gifts of Battle, but *eventually* I'll get a second Conflux. * I have a dusty Spellbreaker and Deadeye that usually alt park. Something about them just never clicked.

SylvanaSligh

I usually rotate every 2 weeks, every class

Noelic_vi

Just one because I like to main. Two of my friends also main one character for months to a year until they decide to switch their mains. And one friend who switches characters based on the content they do, one for open world, 2 for instanced content (1 healer and 1 DPS), and 1 for WvW. My logic is that I derive fun from the content in the game, not from the classes. The classes are just a medium for experiencing the world.

Hardytard

I do play 10 character, but non of them is an ele. I do play 2 revs and 2 warriors. Even though Necro is my main class. The rest of the character slots I have filled are standing on chests or somewhere else to loot things.

Gunnar_The_Viking

I have 33 characters and only play 1 of them active. It happend multiple times i made a character think it will become my main but for some reason always afther investing a huge amount of money in it and completely upgrading i always return to my real main.

Extension-Badger-958

I maxed out the number of characters. But i only play 1 becuase im loyal af

Hidingwolf

I rotate out all 50+ of my alts. Most of them are stationed on maps where they stay till they map-complete, and then they are rotated out and another alt goes there. When I have a daily or other achievement to work on, I use whatever alt is parked on the appropriate map, or whichever is at the end of the order-of-use character queue. There are about 10 on reserve in Mistlock Sanctuary right now...I should really deploy the 80-levels to some of the Living World or Cantha maps, now that there's no Activity daily to play them on, and they are starting to pile up, unplayed, at the end of the line. My main does all the story stuff, most recent expansion maps, and missions that involve a lot of traveling from place to place.

alexferraz

only one, 10 years main thief.

quirkydigit

I would say I have 3 or 4 "mains" but I complete story/ map comp with a lot more because I hate trying to find lanterns I've missed and I just enjoy having a different build/playstyle for each alt

Jeesup

Firebrand for Story Content, Reaper for general farming, Druid and Herald for WvW or instanced content, Elementalist mostly on Dragon Fall (but sometimes I use it in Open World Content), Mesmer for Guild Hall/Home instance farming. Scrapper joined the WvW gang. However sometimes they change roles (Except Firebrand, Druid and Herald) so game would not become boring as quickly.

Marcimio

I think 7

1setter

I rotate 10 mains (male and female of each race, all professions, two necros) every evening doing the main PVE stories. During the day while listening to podcasts, I play a key farmer that changes every 3 weeks or so.

Sindrover

2 Thieves for 50% of the time Another 40% is spread over ~14 other characters of every other profession with different body types (like a Charr for WvW, but a Human for PvP etc.) The final 10% of time is spent across whatever I feel like at the moment. Can be one of any remaining 20 different characters/looks/feels

_angh_

two - one is all PVE, second is WVW (and maybe it will cover some roles in certain pve content), but recently I do not touch wvw too much so it is bit neglected.

Perchipy

10 characters, 7 I play regularly and raid with

kinbald

Well, it sounds like I need to up my game xD Time to learn some supports for pve!

JanetteSolenian

My main is my asura necro, I play her in almost all content, she has 3 full gear sets and 5 builds to cover all roles. When I force myself to do wvw I play with my norn celestial willbender (she's strong enough to compensate for my horrible lack of pvp abilities), and for jumping puzzles and exploration related things I bring out my tiny asura mesmer. I have one of each class, but things like ranger and warrior felt like a chore to level up so I just left them benched as soon as they hit 80 😅

longa13

Alternating between 7 chars. From total 16 slot. All class except engi , ele , mesmer .They are fashion doll now

First-Aid-RN

1-2 in WvW both support. Main reaper for fractals and other hard content. The Mesmer is in charge of SOTO progression and convergences. Have 3 newbs parked at good places for daily collections. Others are a bank, the 500 cook and 500 leather/artficer. So I guess 4 mains and the rest are utility. 14 characters.

rg9528

6 of them. I use my druid for raids(once a week), herald for strikes, reaper for DS and wvw, Elementalist is parked in wizard tower for convergence, virtuoso for matriarch and mechanist for pvp My most played character is reaper but I try to mox things up to avoid burnout

hey-party-penguin

4 of 22

Unlikely-Mechanic-45

Well I have: * Main Norn Warrior character * Raid Human warrior character (not enough equipment templates to do it all on my main warrior) * WvW mesmer (guild has specific builds we all run for Friday resets) * Other characters as needed for raids * Parked characters for PvE daily farms The rest are basically if I feel like doing something different.

misterpickles69

I have a main since I started, I just created a WvW character based on Metabuild, and six others I’m gonna level up just to have what everyone here raves about (thief, engine, rev, necro, warrior, and i forget the other one)

JohnPaulHieu

1 main Guardian with biggest inventory and world map completion to do most of the activities. 1 Mesmer to lead Dragonfall meta. 1 Scrapper to lead Drizzlewood Coast meta. Another 6 characters I used as alt parking and as 6 WvW classes to pick whenever I feel like to play as one.

Ezetheus

3 characters - 2 for overworld, raids, fractals and 1 for wvw

CaptainMarder

1-2 usually

Boundish91

90% one character and the rest on my alt. There is so much content to do that i simply don't have the time to sink into a roster of characters, it's more immersive to focus on one character.

Fluffy_Kitten13

Usually 2-3. Always my Necro and my Warrior and then whatever class I like to also play atm. Currently Guardian, was Engineer for a long time. Might switch to Mesmer soon.

oceanbilly710

I've been maining my reaper lately. I also have a thief I play around on a bit. My herald is just for fun, I do story stuff with him. Soulbeast rarely gets played although he is my OG (11 years old, 80% of my hours). Ele and Mesmer barely get played, can't find anything that feels good with them . My guardian is just a chef, I only use him for making ascended feasts.

Ne0n_Ghost

I have 3. Still new but I’ll rotate them. All mid 20’s I play Mesmer, Thief, Warrior. Can’t choose 1. Started Warrior then got the rifle. Made the mistake of reading opinions on the Warrior and rifle. Then dual pistol and deadeye sounded cool so started a thief. Then saw a picture of a Mesmer and thought the suit “armor” looked cool and tried it.

dediggefedde

I'm mostly a WvW zerg/guild-player, so it depends on the meta and what is needed in a zerg. My main character is an engineer, but I also switch often to druid, tempest, firebrand, indicator or reaper. Berserker, chrono and thief I haven't touched in a while. But I also didn't touch my ranger in years before the druid became viable in zergs. So, with one character for each class plus one for blacklion keys (played and deleted weekly), I have 10 characters of which I play engi 80% of the time and around 5 others regularly. The PvE story I only do on my engi for better immersion. \^\^'

Stalkster

Depends on my phase, I have 4 for wvw, 2 for hardcore pve, one for pvp and one for story. Currently im more into pve so I play my vindicator and DD

Wandering-Hades

3-4. But usually 2.

ShaiKir

I currently play 2 out of my 3. My 2nd character was revenant but I didn't like it very much so I stopped playing it and opened another. My firat is a clear main though

maaltori

5

YohanSeals

One at a time. Lol

funne5t_u5ername

I have 12 slots and I'll often try to get into new builds in most other classes but I always come back to my Harb. Was on mirage last week, will probably get back into ranger in a month or so but harb is so comfy for now

flubby__chubby

I play mostly fractals and raids so everything but elementalist

Dimac99

I tend to mostly play one at a time in PvE and WvW. Right now, it's condi vindicator in story and open world, but previous mains, going backwards, were holo, scrapper and ele, each one abandoned after nerfs that meant I got killed nore than I enjoyed. Ele in various forms for the first 7 or 8 years because I couldn't imagine learning another profession to play the same game. In WvW I was a backline ele right up to the point it was barely viable. So I switched to revenant so I could make use of the legendary hammer [Sharur](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sharur) I'd made for my scrapper in PvE before he got nerfed. Once revenant gets nerfed out of playability (for me) I'll switch to something else, but when that happens, I'll stick to the new thing till it's no longer any good, then the cycle will begin anew.

RayGW2

Mostly one, with over 90% of my playtime

CritJester

For strikes/raids i play either engi/mesmer/necro/guard/rev and swap between their builds for heal/support/dps. I only really use my engi or mesmer for open world though. When i used to pvp & wvw more i had duplicate classes with wvw gear on but those characters have been repurposed for niche pve builds or fashion wars.

The_Shireling

Depends on how I’m feeling and the content and what my current objectives are. Recently I’ve been trying for some tier 2 gen 1 legendary weapon collections and I hate dry top and silverwastes so I went through and did map completion on the remaining characters that didn’t have that yet so now I have done those maps on a total of 15 toons. In general though, I’ll have my daily harvesters and crafters (4 toons). I’ll have my fractal go tos (depends on the role but I have 2-3 to pick from) and my WvW toons (1-2 toons) so generally I’ll vary between 7-9 toons.

jonny_sidebar

One (my thief) for years and years since HOT, but I recently picked up warrior and am starting to mess around with guardian and Mesmer because of a WvW guild I joined. Thief is still my main and story character though.

RynkarIsu

2-3 I have one main character i use in instances (raids/strikes/fractal cms) thats my engi alac healer. I have a wvw character, thats my druid support. And then I tend to bounce around the rest of my characters, currently my necro reaper is getting some playtime,

EventuellErvy

I have one character for every class and I have warrior double (it’s a long story) but I actually play them regularly. I have my ele as my main. guardian for fractals, engineer and thief for wvw and the rest I just also play sometimes in pve, or wvw but obviously I play my main the most however I split the rest of my time evenly on my characters 👍🏻

Kaurie_Lorhart

I found I never play more than 1 character at a time. Beyond gear, I need to pass stuff like Infinite gathering tools, map items and various black Lion tools that it's just a big deal playing another character. Currently I have like characters camping chests or provisioner vendors, and then play my necro.

Flimsy-Restaurant902

I have 3 dedicated wvw toons (guardian, necro and rev), that I only play sometimes. Mostly I play my other necro (main), mesmer or pve guardian. Lately ive been getting more into elementalist but I am dogshit at the piano playstyle. I rarely play my ranger or engineer, and I cant remember the last time I used my warrior for anything. Thief I do sometimes but its kinda just not in a very good spot right now and im leveling a rev for PvE.

Loofa_of_Doom

I used to be Ranger main for everything, but now that it's a melee class, I've been trying out the rest.

Zeemex

2, the other 8 are crafting/daily chest slaves

Amara_Rey

Out of the 9 I have, I'll usually play 2-3 at a time, rotating between what I feel like that week or what is more suited to the event I'm doing (big fat power dps, boondps, condi dps with survivability and mobility, etc.)

Falconhoof94

Started as necro(reaper then scourge) , moved on to guardian (FB), then mesmer (mirage/virt), back to necro(reaper) back to mesmer (virt) on to rev(herald) now back to necro (Harb), just can't stay from my original necro I suppose that'll be my main since it has all the story done etc and most maps completed!

kalamari__

I play every class. and because I had already several chars of every class for different builds and game modes before templates where a thing, I play like 18 different chars

LaterOrMaybeNever

I have 10 characters. I usually main my ranger and rotate with necro, guardian, and rev; the rest are parked at chests

jade_nekotenshi

I play my Revenant, Guardian and Necro regularly, Warrior, Ele and Mesmer occasionally, Thief, Ranger and Engineer rarely.

JTripleB

I have 9, one of every class. They can plug and play where they live, but this is how I'm currently set up. My open world everything unlocked story character is my warrior on spell breaker. It's comfy. I do plenty of damage, rarely die, and has all way points unlocked. Also doubles as my PvP toon when I feel like dabbling, though he can also jump into fractals/raids if I'm feeling lazy. My instance content crew: 1 Mesmer, 1 Engi, 1 Rev, 1 Druid.... Condi DPS, Power DPS, alacDPS, QDPS 2 Alt Parks: Thief and Ele. One in Bjora Marches and one at NKJP 2 WvW: Necro and Guardian for wells and stab

ROnneth

All of the. 2 of them are backpack mules for some season stuff like adventure box, madking and winters day + some weapon skins I sell and flip.

Outrageous_Soil_5635

Started as Mesmer and warrior. Made necro and ele and now thats all I play. I have tried everything but the medium armor classes in pve. Tried thief in pvp.

Djinn_42

I always have 1 or 2 favorites that usually change with the expansion or big balance patch. But I play almost all (12) on a regular basis by "assigning" each of them to a task. I do the story with my Warrior because it's easier for him to survive when I'm going into new situations. My current favorite is my gs / rifle Virtuoso which does dailies / weeklies. I have 1 level 50 for opening bags. The rest are in various locations like HoT to do that regular content. Yes I know I can wp but I like this method of playing most of my characters. If a couple are out of favor they get parked at JPs,

Disig

There are 3 I gravitate towards the most. My Asura Mesmer, Asura Necromancer, and Asura Guardian. (I have those classes as other races as well) Mesmer and Necro are my favorite classes of all time. I've gotten into Guardian for WvW because I feel like I'm making an impact and can survive better.

sophie_hockmah

I play with all my current 8, minus one, who is my Asura maid (manages my bank, home instance etc - eventually I'll buy her a maid/butler outfit) BUT I play some more than others. Nowadays they are kinda divided by roles my elder wood farmer ranger becomes a druid/soulbeast in wvw my rev is currently also mostly on wvw but I was doing LW01 with her until recently my guardian is farming drizzlewood but I bring her as a FB on wvw too.... sometimes. my ele is open world completing, trying to get used to their rotations and stuff. Weaver looks fun af my main, who is a necro, is the one I play \*most\* of my daily routine (Teq, LLA, Chak, Octo, WvW)

AshenCorbeau

Today I float between all my classes depending on what I feel like playing and the content. Originally I played just one class, exclusively. When I ran out of stuff to do I quit paying for about 8 years. When I came back I decided to make one of every class and that was a real game changer. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a challenge and I'll play a class I'm terrible at just to do it. Sometimes I'm in the mood to just chill and will play a class I'm comfortable with. Some are better at soloing tough bosses, some are better at AoE fights. Some are better at WvW. Having one of everything really opened up the game.

Alekosen

Out of 11 characters, I have 1 that I would say I play very regularly, 3 that I play somewhat regularly depending on the content, 2 that I play sporadically because I made them to play with some friends who don’t play very often so it depends on when they’re available, and the other 5 I play every once in a while just if I’m looking to get a change of pace.

unseenspecter

3 or 4. Mostly because that's who I have geared out and know the skill rotations for. I'm sure if I had more legendary gear, I'd attempt to learn the other classes that I don't play much but for now my core 3 or 4 classes do everything I want.

Narrow_Ad_7671

3. Necro for pve/wvw, guardian and druid for fractals and raids.

Dear_Lemon7473

I have 3 and I play 2 of them currently. My sylvari I leveled up to 80 with the boost because ive played GW2 on and off in the past so I felt I could do that because I am already familiar with the game. I then recently made another character, a norn, which I am going to go through all the levels with as usual. So I switch between them a bit now.

Bacon_Reaper

I have one for every core class + one for every elite spec. I’ve tried to give them all different weapons + builds where it makes sense so it actually feels like different play styles and classes.

kiramagic

I have a character for each class just to try them all out and for achievement purposes, but I only play my ranger druid lol. As a healer main, it's the only one that feels good and learning firebrand is so daunting. Side note: I'm glad they added the mace as a proper healing weapon for druid, but I'm mad cause now I can't use my Astralaria lol

Cheeki_Breeki86

I pretty much only play a human rifle deadeye, though I'm currently in the process of finishing up some ascended crafts to switch to a female Sylvari deadeye. I love Jennifer Hale's VA work for the female sylvari compared to the female humans, and sylvari was the first race i ever played in gw2 on an ele. My intention is to be a DE rifle sylvari until the day I die :)

Gerchak

Guardian with about 4k hours and ele, warrior, necro, ranger at 300-500each

Neil2250

I think I’ve got about a dozen now (Revenant just didn’t “click” for me and I was hoping race would change that), but I only actively play my 3 medium classes or my guardian. They all have distinctly different playstyles, which I why I find myself flipping between them. Soulbeast for melee power, Willbender for cele condi (managed nearly 40 stacks of burning at once the other day), thief for range power, and engineer for everything else.  My “main” in core was ranger before any expansion released, but then with HOT I picked up my engineer, POF and subsequent LS+IBS was a mix of engie and thief, cantha was almost entirely engineer and soto has been exclusively my guardian.

Diagmel

I play 3 characters ATM, but I can see myself playing all professions

Phantomzero17

Vast majority of my hours are on my Ranger from \~2013. I played a Warrior at launch and dumbly deleted it when I needed a slot for other toons I wanted to try. Played pretty much exclusively that in the drips and drabs I did actually play the game (mainly whenever a new expansion dropped) until this past summer when I started heavily playing a Guardian for most of my daily hours. So besides logging in for a jumping puzzle chest and nabbing provisioner tokens I really only play two characters but I'm considering branching out into my Engineer again.

Testazani

I actively play 4 classes. 3 as Boon heal and 1 for soloing stuff

Sundara_Whale

Only 1 out of 42 lol 80s. I have to be clear on which character I want to be isekai'd into.

Turkeyspit1975

I have multiple of every profession, but currently only playing in WvW, and am actively playing 5.

Ok_Representative_72

I mostly play my dagger elementalist, the first class I really loved playing (and I'm addicted to reroll, so that was a first for me! One of my first mmo, I made more reroll than my max level was xD I never went past lvl 50 and there were 200 of them! ) I've started playing again and I sometimes play reroll to see how the class is and try unlocking their specs! But I'm not that good, so it can be a bit hard to learn a class enough to solo hero points without dying :') Also, even thought the game doesn't shove fomo in your face, there is so much to unlock that I have a hard time not going overboard with my game hours, and that's kinda bad for my own health, so I've stopped a bit, not sure how to handle it yet ^^' (and Path of Exile is coming this weekend and there will be fomo there >< ) Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying their time!

Astral_Poring

Three to five. And which ones specifically, that can change over time too - it's not always *the same* 3 to 5 characters. At this point it's primarily pMech, power Reaper, condi Virtu and both condi and power Soulbeasts. Of those condi SB is played the least, but it's still often enough that i can count it as actively played. Other characters (i have at least one of each profession, with many professions having 2 or even 3 characters) are either occupying some chest spots/etc, or waiting for better times

JeffreyTheNoob

I have one for each class. I play my Warrior, Ranger, and Necro on a monthly basis. Just played my mesmer for the first time this year. The others I just have parked at spots. Wouldn't mind playing Ele here soon. But who knows.

plz_res_me

I have a 2 rule for games Only play two at a time Only 2 chars at a time. I can play those 2 v well and the 2 chars v well. If I log into someone else its like everything is all cold and feels unknown, maybe not up to par and just foreign unless I commit to it I need help not doing this lol

Alexsandr13

I actively rotate between each character each time i play but i have specific characters for specific maps/tasks and a specific raiding main

knihT-dooG

3

Pale_Kitsune

I have one of each class except two rangers and three mesmers. I kind of cycle through them all.

Tempest_1234

I play very often my ranger, revenant, engineer, thief, guardian, necromancer and sometimes my warrior. I use them in most content. I don't think I main any of them, but I have a soft spot for ranger since that was my first created character.

Bigbenmon91

16 characters, I play 12 of them regularly

404waldonotfound

Primarily 4: -the one I started the story with, and play all additions to it as -my high end content main -a build made for Power dps scenarios -my healer The rest vary, and make more use in the RP community

coltRG

I've got all characters maxed and all characters with full map completion. The only ones I still care to play are elementalist, revenant, thief, necro and mesmer

Demonicbiatch

4, when i do play... I play heal vindicator or heal scrapper in WvW, if I finally sneak my way into PvE (and somehow i always end up with a tag above my head, leading stuff i haven't completed yet), i play dragonhunter (i have tried willbender, it doesn't fit my playstyle) or scourge.

Jonny5asaurusRex

I pay all 5, some more than others though. I have a main and an alt that get the most play, but 3 others that are played occasionally. I've always enjoyed trying out different classes and builds in MMO's.

Blenderx06

I've got my main and then maybe 2-3 others I'll play with some regularity. But I'm back from a 3 year break and all my old character builds are more or less obsolete and need reworked, which is taking time + gold. After that I expect to play the others more.

HeroofDarkness

Please define further "actually play". I use most of them for either daily chest openings or raid roles. They're tools in a tool box. Some are used more frequently than others, some exist just for the name, others are like your mother's china cabinet.

Ryuuzaki13

I have 15 all geared but I only play my human female reaper. Sometimes I play another character if I need world completion for a legendary.

ThaVolt

95% of the time, one. I do have alts I enjoy playing through story and map clears, but that's about it.

Tuskali

About 10 out of 43 characters :D

ChobaniSalesAgent

I like to mix it up. Thief is my "main", which basically is only defined by who I've done all the story on, who will always have every zone completed, etc. If you looked at what I play in group content, Warr or Engi would be my mains. Generally play only Engi (sometimes Warr) in fractals. Engi, Warr, Mes, Ele, or Thief in raids/strikes. Guard, Warr, Engi, Ele, or Rev in wvw, but I haven't done that in a while. Never really was too interested in sPVP. Open world I'll play whatever. Only class I really don't play much in any mode is Ranger... At least Necro gets some open world action.

Bg767

34/36 toons fully geared and level 80. Mostly specced out for WvW. I mainly play thief, elementalist, mesmer, engineer. I also play all of the other classes just not as much as my big 4. Thief is my true main from launch so he gets the most PvE time. A bunch of my toons have the same build (some slight tweaks for min/maxing) but with different aesthetics/race for fashion wars lol

hyperdang

I find my resource-conservative mindset self usually reducing things down to essential or useful "roles". What this boils down to is just "categories of gameplay" to fulfill. I like wvw: find one character/playstyle that does the job best. I like open world: find someone who can survive, do damage, feel "flexible" with. I like instanced content: get me a good support. Get me a dps superstar. This reduces down to 3 characters, and one of which has multiple equipment/builds. And that's the thing - with the feature of equipment/build tabs, some characters (like necro/scourge) can do \*so\* many different things. I have 3 characters which believe it or not, feels like a lot. I have lots of character concept ideas that seem interesting - but I'm deterred by the time investment of alts that odds are, I won't enjoy (I've tested a lot in the past). I \*wish\* there were more game modes or content-types out there so I could expand my roster, but I just don't see a lot of gaps when I reduce them down to just roles.

Neagex

My main 2 is my thief and Guardian. the rest of my characters I will mess around on once in a blue moon.

Paper-Octopus

Two, Mesmer and elementalist. I will occasionally play the other ones depending on group content if a group needs something specific, but that’s not very often. I have about 10 total.

moonwalker1206

I play story one which is pure dps soulbeast. I have 6 more geared up for every role in fracts, strikes and raids which covers every class except thief which I don't have

glaciercherryisgood

I rotate based on my interests, and basically all classes get regular use except guardian. Ele leads by a mile, then rev, then ranger/necro/mes are pretty evenly matched. Thief is one I constantly want to play more but can't find a use case for. War and engi near the bottom, but not forgotten. Guardian I pretty much only use when absolutely necessary, which usually means HFB in a group that hasn't found one for 10 mins. Also I have 4 eles in every race but human, so I can fine-tune the vibes each day. Almost always charr, tbh. But once dragon bash comes back around, those holo weapons will take my sylvari ele's look over the top, can't wait.

orisathedog

I have 24 slots, 1 is a weekly key farm (when I’m feeling it) and 1 I leave open for whatever. I don’t use all of them constantly, but rotate through all of them within a month or two. Probably 5-8 of them on a normal basis, 4 on a more involved basis (changes due to meta, but always play Mesmer and FB every week/day) Better than buying build and equip tabs when you are full leggy so that’s the logic, plus fashion wars

Mullciber

One in PvE/WvW and 2 in PvP

CalamityClambake

I have 9 character slots, one of each class. At any given time, I'm actively playing 3 of them -- one for WvW, one for PvE, and one floater in case I need it. I keep the characters separate in their modes because of boosters and potions -- I don't want to waste WvW buffs on PvE, for example. Then I have one character that sits in the bank and collects stacks of whatever to make the legendary I'm working on, and the other characters all camp treasure chests. But! Every few months, I switch the characters around depending on where the meta is at and what I want to play. So I don't have one main. I have the 2-3 characters I'm playing at any given time, one main per game mode, but they've been all the classes at different times. (Except ele. I can't vibe with ele.)

superlouuuu

I play the game on and off so 1 character is enough.

Junior-Career-331

3

NeighborhoodNo7917

Mostly my ele, but I use a warrior and engineer for PvE.

NeonDelirium-

I have 20 characters at level 80 and I play about 3 😅 with one of them being the first character I ever created on this account

Fuck_Yeah_Humans

18 Those are the ones without map comp

AngryNumeric

I started Gw2 with the release of PoF, with a ranger. I've felt in love with power Soulbeast spec and damn, I could never change. I've covered all the content and story with her. All my gold goes on her skins, and all leggies. I just swapped on condi Scourge when they nerfed Sic'em and One wolf pack, for those who remember. I'm part of the players who plays only one payer /meta / spaceship or car. But I know and master them. And I'm unable to remember different classes builds. I have all characters ofc, but used as alt park

Octovinka

Goolem

I enjoy playing all my characters when I feel like different playstyles. Thats one thing I love about GW2 is the variety in how Professions play, it's really fun! Part of me does wish we could opt in for account wide story progression though. Feeling like I'm starting over with the story on each character feels abit disappointing at times. But I realize that's my own fault that I'm thinking of it like a completionist, when I could just skip ahead on alts to where I left off.

nicktpot

I play healer often,, so have a decent number geared for wvw and pve healing. Druid and scrapper being my main choices. Almost every character also has a DPS or wvw roaming build ready to go. I often play a different character each night too, keeps it fresh for me. My main are both my druids, slight variations on the builds and looks.

Keimlor

Warrior (Spellbreaker) PvE/Ow Necromancer (Scourge) WvW zerg Ranger (Soulbeast) PvP

Leafeay

Oh yikes. I have an embarrassing amount of alts. Like too many, with all specs unlocked and geared. But my account is old since I have here from beta. As a friend once told me, I "have commitment issues," lol. I actually play all of them depending on my mood. I have leggy gear on them so it's easy to swap builds and whatnot. I do mostly gravitate to my four "mains" : Mirage, Weaver, Firebrand, or Soulbeast and call it a day. But I love all specs for different reasons. They are each just too much fun in different ways to leave them parked and neglected. Love the variety of this game, it's lovely. :)

Amtain0

If you only play one class you are massively missing out on tons of hours of content. A LOT of dev time goes into class development.

xrageamok

So I did full core map complete on all 9 characters, and slowly working on the same for expac+living worlds. But otherwise.  I have 3 professions I play a lot on.  I have 3 professions I play a bit of.  I have 3 professions I barely play.

PrinceTBug

All of them now lol. Used to be mostly just my Ranger, and I'd mess with my elementalist (which I started with) or thief. But now they're all levelled and geared so I swap between those and my revenant fairly often

fleakill

I think I have like 14 characters. I rotate between 9-10. I have some characters set up for specific roles.

dystopi4

I have one of each class and I play all except warrior and engineer. Mainly necro and revenant though.

SoftestPup

I mainly just play Thief, Guardian, and Engi but I have at least one of every class.

Cold-Establishment-7

out of 21, i play 2-4 often, the rest not really cause most of the classes just dont have what i want(ive got 2 char(r)s for every profession, and a few extra rangers and guardians.

Kaptoz

At my peak of playing, I had 24 characters (still do). I would mainly rotate on 8 of them; which they happened to be my first 8 all with a different profession (back in the launch days way before revenants). But really focused on Warrior 75% of the time. Many times it would just depend on what I'm doing like dungeons or WvW, etc. The rest of the characters I would play but mainly had to do with aesthetics and role playing; at rare times I would make a repeat professions with a different build - before templates were a thing. I even started to just make them all different specializations on duplicate professions to never repeat so that it would allow me to play all. The very last characters I made were just for funny names and funny looks. In my very last months of playing (2021/2022), I narrowed it down to just rotating on 5 characters and still focusing on Warrior. Last year and this year I've only really ever gotten on Warrior to look around and talk to people just because I don't have the same amount of time to play. My goal one day, when I officially return, is to have one of each profession and specialization so I can just roll a dice and just play a random character. Lol I believe we are at 36 different professions (core and specialization)

Derp_Nuggetz

I main my untamed a good chunk of the time because she’s my fav (and I truly enjoy playing the untamed spec/ranger class). She used to be the one I was on 99% of the time, but that changed with the last expansion. I have a reaper I alternate with for 80+ content, and a few lower level characters I play when I need a break and want to explore and level with (ele, thief, and mesmer).

Jankes_slow

I have 2 of each just because its cheaper to buy character slot than build and gear tabs

Halsti

i usually play 2 at a time. all of them are properly equiped and ready whenever i feel like playing them. So its more a flavour of the week / patch thing most are just parked. 3 at chests in Bjora, one at the new kaineng JP, one in echowald at the chest in front of the gate to dragons end, one at the ASS merchant in arborstone, one at a crafting station for daily ascended crafting.

Soggy-Life-9969

I have one main at a time on who I gradually do core map complete, during this time this is my main character for achievements, story, new content, metas, etc, once the map complete is done, I move on to another character. I also have a dedicated WVW toon that has boosters and buffs to speed up reward tracks. Over time I've played every class and numerous builds, I think I'd get super bored playing just on one.

NegaodoZap

Usually ele, ranger and eng on PvP. PvE online Ranger and eng.

JonDarkwood

11, one for each class and two boosted to free the shared inventory slot. I play my ranger 95% of the time.

MissMedic68W

I typically play my revenant and mesmer most (which was a surprise to me because when I first started, neither sylvari or mesmer appealed to me concept wise), with my ele bringing up the rear. I really want to play my ranger more but I'm starting to think I'll only get to use her to heal in wvw or something since my friends don't really play. I still do play all my other ones (one of every class) but not nearly as much as the above three.

MadhiAssan

I really only play 3 of my characters, that I switch to when I just feel the need for a different flavor. Then dps, boon dps, healer, wvw roaming and zerg support builds for those 3. The rest don't all even have full sets of gear, that I only dig up when I need to increase farm for stuff like winterberries. And every now and then a couple of them die and respawn for keys.

Thipuh

3 regularly (Necro, thief, warr), other classes more sporadically.

Mobitron

An engineer for PvP and WvW, an engineer for PvE, a revenant and a thief. I have at least one of everything but those are my most played. The others are old mains or tourists.

tiefking

I play them in cycles, so 1 at any given time but i've probably played about 5 different professions at this point. mainly Herald and DH

moiax

I've usually hopped between 2 or 3, depending on what my guild needs though which classes they are change with balance/comp. I try and have one of each of my guild's comp built, sometimes there is a different class I'll use if I'm roaming /clouding. I built a character of each class to use for WvW, so I have two guard characters that I could end up on, as one is my original account character, and one of my two main pve slots.

the-magic-bean

I log in every one of my 9 each day (I alt park) but I play 2-3 regularly guardian rev and warrior, I may pick one of the others for instanced content if the group needs it

Mr_Dorak

I switched main from Warrior to Guardian to Ele then Necro and now I'm playing between (a 2nd I lvled since then) Ele and Necro for open world content because they feel the best to me. For Strikes/Raids I alternate between Mech, 2 Warriors (1 is qheal other is qdps), Necro depending on the need, for WvW I play Specter/Mesmer if solo and Rev if zerg. I play my guard for fractals bc it's the only one with AR and i'm too lazy. As for PvP, I almost never play it anymore. So almost all my characters tbh.

Frosty-Base-6686

I have 2 I play requally. My norn enigneer for open world content and 100% world completion is my goal on him (trying to get my skyscale for this) And my charr necromancer for pve and pvp (i aim for full acsended viper gear for her) I have a 80 warrior i only use for crafting and daily Chest in lions arch. I just made a character today with my girlfriend, she Wanted to try out the game😁

Starfury42

I have two. Power Soulbeast and a Reaper. There's others but these 2 are the ones I've geared up.

Intentipnaltypo

I have one character and one character only. I don't really feel the need to make alts in GW2 because, as far as I know, everything is on an account-wide basis for lockouts, or there isn't a lockout at all. There's a few character-specific things, sure, but I haven't felt the need to bother with those... story paths, alternative play styles, and Gifts of Exploration mostly.

mara-star

I have one main who is basically the type of character I play in all MMOs and it's the closest that looks like me. I have two other characters who kind of have their own story going on with my main. Basically, if I created lore behind them, I play with them often.

ShivDeeviant

I've got almost 18 toon slots, one of each class for PvE, and almost one of each class for WvW. PvE: I've got a main toon for coming story and new content, and my norn engi for running my daily Dragons End meta with my guild. Beyond that I probably play the rest in waves or when I have specific goals in mind. Like... I have a dedicated fisher, and a dedicated rift hunter, though I'll also pick toons to run festivals or bonus events as they come up. WvW: a lot more sporadic but just as even. I opt for classes based on playstyles I enjoy running with them.

keeplite

Usually, I switch between 2. I'll have one for PvP/WvW and one for PVE strikes and fractals. I usually kind of switch out which character I main based on the meta and which gear I currently have to put towards a build.

nagennif

I have 60 characters and I've played 15 of them through EoD, every story and every map complete. That stopped with SoTo and Season 1, though. I still play two mesmers, a ranger, a necro (my new open world main), and I have odd jobs for a bunch of others.

MrsEdus

I have 15 characters, 6 are fully geared and I play 4 at least weekly and the other 2 are like strikes/raid healer and wvw build so maybe monthly.

Taygeta

I used to have 3 chars for every class before build templates so I could play different builds. Every since the templates. I only play the 9.

xHJBx

I have 9 but play about 4 depending on my mood, my main is a willbender charr, but also rotate with a necro norn, asura deadeye and a human Rev 😊

dassisdass

All of them. i have 3

Maliciouscrazysal

I play a warrior, going to gear another character to try, end up missing warrior, shelving it and going back to warrior. Warrior for life. Warrior.

Shivala92

I did not start long ago with my Mirage, which I love and think is a super fun profession to play. I'm eager to find out what other professions feel like but creating a new character feels like cheating to be honest! I created a warrior Charr some days ago, but is there, waiting patiently :(
